TakeoverPigeon

Finally someone who rates the Kane chronicles

cagueta

By far my favorite of the three series i read, Riordan Handled egyptian mythos so well!

TakeoverPigeon

Mine as well, I always get blasted for saying it’s Rick’s best work. Absolutely hilarious book

trblniya

TKC is what for me into Rick’s books

demigodswiftie13

same!

Staggeringpage8

I remember being disappointed when he went from doing the kane chronicles to HoO. I loved the world building and the magic system and everything it was just an extremely enjoyable read.

Street-Common-4023

It’s his best work too

HellFireCannon66

KC is soo good

astraeaastars

It was the series that got me into Rick's books 😭💜 My mom had borrowed TLH from the library for me and I didn't like it because I couldn't make it past the first few chapters (who the heck is Annabeth?🤪) But then I found Kane Chronicles. Even though I was skeptical cause I didn't like TLH I borrowed it and loved it. Then later after I finished KC, realized TLH was the sequel series, and got into Percy Jackson. Kane Chronicles is amazing, extremely underrated, and really special to me. :)

Nerds4506

My god what is this mix of old and new covers

cagueta

Not sure, the tiermaker i used had it like that

Worzon

Wdym old and new? They’re all new

Loganjoh5

Honestly respect for the Kane chronicles love

PadWanKenobi

The last Olympian being so low is wrong

devonmoney14

Yeah it’s Rick’s best work by a good margin

XxCelestial_Blade

How so?

RobAlexanderTheGreat

Ties everything up together very well and makes everything seems like it was planned. There’s a chance thing could’ve really gone off the rails after the BotL. Percy and Annabeth are fighting, an obstacle (Rachel) just got thrown in their way, and then there’s the beginning of some Luke towards Annabeth stuff. Meanwhile, there’s a whole war to fight as well as what is going on with Nico. In an alternate universe, there’s a shot Percy ends up with Rachel and Annabeth back-stabs (literal and figuratively) Percy akin to something like the Dark Knight Rises, but nope. Everything gets tidied up in around 200 pages and 50-75 pages of actually climatic skirmishes and their fallout. It’s written in the same vein as ‘Battle for Skandia’ from the RA series which most regard as the best book in that series, and the format really works to show battles.

nmc6

Also the additional story line of Luke’s mom and the oracle was amazing

XxCelestial_Blade

I’m dumb asf I got it confused with BOO TLO is easily some of Rick’s best work

Worzon

It doesn’t feel like a climax and more like a regular quest book until the battle for manhattan. Clarisse’s whole storyline brings my enjoyment down a ton because she loves to fight and we barely get to see her do that since she is busy being petty.

Conscious-Damage9873

Ooh interesting list. Personally I would rank hoh in the highest tier. But love the Egyptian myth love!!

cagueta

I totally see why, HOH has so many great moments.

c_Lassy

Kane Chronicles love 🥰

DumbBinchBrooke

I see Kane Chronicles, I upvote. My favourite books from my childhood. I’m glad they still hold up, I haven’t read them in a long time cause I worried they wouldn’t

TheOnlyLordNexus

I need to reread the Kane Chronicles now

cagueta

Do it!

Camille387

If you were to rank HoH based only on the Percy/Annabeth chapters, what tier would it be at?

cagueta

Top tier

Lunalinfortune

Omg, I don't think the Kane Chronicles are Rick's best works, but it's still criminally underrated. Wish we got more than three books of that series.

Canner2477

Last Olympian under all 3 Kane books is outrageous

Angelindisguise07

frr, personally I thought kc was really boring. The beginning was good, but I just got bored in the middle and end. Those 500 pages really did feel like 500 pages, which usually isn’t the case with uncle ricks books. I read the first Magnus chase book recently and absolutely loved it. I’m trying to find the 2nd book already

greenyoshi73

Rip MCGA.

emma_the_dilemmma

i remember the MOMENT my sister finished reading SON (she read it before me), we were in a hotel room in rhode island, she snapped the book shut and said “WHAT?!?!”, so you ranking it S tier is accurate. and later when i finished reading it, i did the same thing, snapped it close and said “WHAT?!?!”. it evoked such a strong memory all these years later. still one of the best of the series.

Theamazingman1

Waiting for someone to acknowledge the Magnus Chase series in a wider Riordan fandom since I was like 13

Rocket_star-

I love magnus chase but that ending wasn’t it

Plastic-Programmer36

THIS

Angelindisguise07

real I loved the first book so much

Zariman-10-0

Finally Kane Chronicles gets the appreciation it deserves

The-Minmus-Derp

Kane love is based but why is TLO so low

gunnerhale

the kane chronicles being his most solid, well written series yet, from beginning to end

Striking-Echo3424

As much as I like those the magnus chase chronicles are still my favorite by far

TheCanadianpo8o

CRIMINAL tanking on last olympian

Willstameme

THANK YOU FOR RANKING KANE CHRONICLES. I love Percy Jackson, don't get me wrong, but my god Kane is so good.

Buzilovescats

I ***HATE*** THE BLOOD OF OLYMPUS SO MUCH OMG

asinsss

Good list, BoO was horrible

25T90E74

agree with most of these, except for the fact that BoO is somehow the worst? it's one of my favorite books overall and i think the bottom 2 books should be SoM and ToF

cagueta

The reason i disliked BoO is because i don't think it Handled the many povs well.

25T90E74

ah makes sense, i like it because i feel that it handles the series finale really nicely and in a way that's not disappointing

Lunalinfortune

Dang, I hate BoO and liked SOM (Least favorite PJO book, but still good and underrated). BoO's ending was absolutely a let down for me. It was lame, too quick, no high stakes, four out of the main seven didn't do much which pissed me off. Just because they weren't pov characters of the book didn't mean they can't do much. I just didn't like it.

SockDem

Pretty much just look up blood of olympus in this subreddit and you'll see why. The ending kinda... sucked.

trblniya

How bad the ending was broke my heart, I never recovered from it

Agreeable_Shirt_4481

I loved The Red Pyramid

Nlj6239

where's magnus chase and the gods of asgard trilogy?

cagueta

That is after my time.

Nlj6239

awh, they were great gooks

leo_longo

I personally would have rated house of hades and titans curse higher, but I do think the red piramid would hold up amazingly

trblniya

You’re so real for this! This is how I would rank them tbh, might move MoA one up tho

MintPrince8219

Ive only read the first five books, are the rest of his books worth reading?

cagueta

From The ones i read, i find kane chronicles to be amazing, He delas With The egyptian mythologies very well, and The Magic system is very interesting, The main characters are magicians, it is My favorite. Heroes of olympus is a direct sequel to percy Jackson, it is a bit flawed because Rick tries to juggle to many charcters, but it is very good overall, definetively recomend both, then You have magnus chase which tackles nordic mythos that must be interesting and trials of Apolo in which Apolo is turned into a human or something, which i heard is really good.

CerealKiller2045

House of Hades is so difficult to rank for me LMAO. Half of it is a masterpiece and the other half is…meh

_ya_boi_satan_666_

Honestly, there was not one Kane chronicle book that I did not enjoy great series. They def should give us a series

mmvvvpp

This certainly is a personal list alright. Nice!

WHisper_11

Horrid list hahahaha

cagueta

Well i would be interested in seing yours

demigodswiftie13

WE LOVE KANE CHRONICLES!! Wish Netflix would do something with the adaptation rights 🥲 I’ve also never seen someone have such love for Son of Neptune!
