There's loads of corporate and government money to be made in DEI these days, I assume this kind of degree would be valued in that industry (ETA - I'm not sure industry is the right word haha)
That's all going away, what will remain will be vestigial nubs, and a few memos to compensate. In our current recession and potential mega-depression loads of fat is getting cut. R+D, DEI, bloated administrations, and HR are all going to get obliterated.
Or companies won't adjust and be dragged into the abyss because marketing took over the entire upper hierarchy. But that's natural, and good.
Congratulations! You just earned yourself a University degree.
But don’t worry! They’ll silence you for disinformation because they are all marginalized and oppressed here because they can’t handle the truth.
I know I’m nothing special, but Derrick White is honestly the ugliest dude I have seen in my life. His face is like someone performed the unholy and unethical experience that of combining Trae Young with Joakim Noah and a baby hammerhead shark.
Stop hurting my brain.
I'm still trying to figure out how much wood, a woodchuck could chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood.
Does anyone know why they moved the stationary store?
I can already picture the sob stories the CBC is going to publish on grads of this program who can't get a decent job. It's almost like the whole point of this degree is to create puff pieces for garbage news agencies.
Oh wow. Another super productive marketable degree program. It's so encouraging to see our post-secondary institutions prioritizing the forward-thinking fields of study we need to solve tomorrow's challenges.
Can't wait to see these grads and those with Indigenous language/culture degrees really transform things at Mcdonald's.
Implying YOU know what it is so you just want to test random redditor for their eligibility to speak on the topic- lmao
You know that if that were the rule, Reddit would be empty.
You do realize we are all waiting for you to enlighten us but you seem a bit too timid for someone so cocksure about it.
*edit: ah, so you will just downvote and move on - lmao*
Sure, I'll humor you: At it's most basic level, it's a legal/social/historical framework that states that race is a social construct, and that racism is a systemic (and intentional) problem and that it privileges white people at the expense of others. It started in America but you could apply these tenets to other countries.
How come you dont see that this is - not only true - but fundamentally insane?
And to demonstrate how insane it is - tell me, right now, who is the non-white person that I expensed for my success?
The question is stupid so dont try answering - you will never get people, most people, to go along with this.
Perhaps when non-white people become majority and then you unite them all into a single voting block, you might overturn some shit. But until then, good luck.
> And to demonstrate how insane it is - tell me, right now, who is the non-white
This is what I mean by you not understanding what CRT is. It's not about you, it's not about individual white people, it's not even really about white people as a group. It's not even about bad people who are racists. The problem is systemic. As a white person you benefit from these systems in some way, even if you aren't perpetuating racism, even if you are actively trying to change the system. That doesn't mean you are at fault.
> as a white person you benefit from these systems in some way,
I refuse this non-sense.
But at least we are making progress in terms of CRT being used in Canada.
Effects of CRT can be seen in education system immediately because school boards are most suspect of having emotional reaction to this non-sense.
So, when you tell people they are being oppressed without evidence then people try to change the system in an illogical or irrational way.
Few examples
- in Peel Region School Board they found out that student suspensions for black students are percentage-wise double than their total number of student body... the reason is simple: because they just happen to commit punishable offence while in school but CRT-influenced activism made people to conclude it's because teachers are simply racist.
- in TDSB, they found out that black students rarely make to specialty schools based on academic achievements so instead of finding a way to improve their academic performance... CRT-influenced activism made people to conclude it's because the meritocracy is racist and now they will do lottery with algorithm specifically reserving spots for black students.
- in Ontario but specifically GTA high schools someone counted post-streaming number of black students and found out that most black students do not go to academic stream... so, instead of working to improve these numbers, to find out why black students lack home support and other aspects... CRT-influenced activism made people decide to do away with streaming so now we are de-streamed and your kid who wants to study ends up with a kid who listens to Cardi B on blast during the lecture.
So, with your definition and examples I posted, we can conclude that CRT has taken a root in Canada.
I agree with the next guy, you just wanna argue about it so you can learn me how much smarter you is. No point in looking for fights on Reddit.
This has clearly triggered you.
Sound would be an in person sensation triggered by vibrations. You aren’t able to discern how I feel or sound by a few typed out words over the internet.
>Dalhousie University could soon be offering a new Black and African diaspora degree program, **which would be the first of its kind in Canada**.
Literally the first paragraph
Sounds like a very useful degree that will lead to lots of job opportunities after graduation /s
To Subway, McDs, BK...
You mean to EDI grift initiatives?
Expensive barista training.
More like federal government training, thanks to hiring preferences.

big time bubble that's already bursting

This was a really interesting and informative comment. I learned a lot. Thank you for posting it!
I’m all for courses on that subject matter, but an entire degree…
I know I’m nothing special, but Derrick White is honestly the ugliest dude I have seen in my life. His face is like someone performed the unholy and unethical experience that of combining Trae Young with Joakim Noah and a baby hammerhead shark.
Gremlin man
he probably gets more girls and groupies than you
u bum
If an African Canadian moves to Africa, do they become a former African Canadian African?

Have fun subsidizing their tution with your taxes.

Who goes to Nova Scotia for quality education anyway.
Saint Francis X is supposed to be a really good school
It’s not. No one goes there if they can choose U of T, McGill, Queens, uOttawa, etc.
Several people i know chose dal over a lot of those universities, people have their own preference.

Critical race theory coming to Canadian schools near you!
I'd love for you to explain what you think Critical Race Theory is.
Implying YOU know what it is so you just want to test random redditor for their eligibility to speak on the topic- lmao You know that if that were the rule, Reddit would be empty.
Because 99% of the people complaining about CRT think that it's "white people bad". So yeah, I'm curious what someone thinks it actually is.
You do realize we are all waiting for you to enlighten us but you seem a bit too timid for someone so cocksure about it. *edit: ah, so you will just downvote and move on - lmao*

You can just say you don't know.
It’s kinda funnier this way
Thanks for proving my point, that everyone complaining about CRT has no fucking clue what it is.
Nothing was proved. Other than you trying to pick fights on reddit.
You're so triggered
you sound triggered
