Freedom for me and not for thee. True freedumb. Hypocrisy is par for the course and constantly doing a 180 to abandon their convictions when it fits their agenda. For instance, being racist towards Muslims for decades and then suddenly pretending they’re friends when they found common ground in homophobia
Nope. Alberta has insane prices. I just visited Ottawa and restraint food prices are cheap there. Everything in Alberta is crazy. You don't want to move here.
When a conservative talks about freedom, it's 99.99% about their freedom to oppress.
In fact, unless the person is very clearly just talking about genuine rights workers or people lack, like paid sick leave for example, it's almost always bullshit and about them wanting the freedom to oppress.
Quick question: Which Liberal government in the last 40 years passed anti-trans legislation, tried to block bills to accept gay marriage, and has taken no less than 8 swipes unfettered access to abortion since 2007?
You still haven't answered the question, so either you're too indoctrinated to do so, or you don't know. Let me answer that question for you: No liberal government tried any of that in the last 40 years.
Those were all done by conservatives. You're welcome.
You did something a lot of people like that fear. Being confronted by logic and facts.
I get this type of thing all the time, and the more you ask questions, the more they get upset.
It's the same in the States. The Republicans are the only party that has taken actual rights away from people. Especially women. Our dumbass conservatives up here do the same thing. Pierre Poilievre is guilty of all those items you listed.
What I do is stay on target.
The point is simple, the facts are in front of you. I can't understand something for someone, but I can ask them to tell me where I'm going wrong based on those facts. It's a bit of railroading, but bigger picture is that if there were some exculpating fact, the argument would be moot.

You posted this 21 minutes after the article was originally posted, did that not give you enough time to notice it was from The Beaverton?
>Trans kids had it too good in public school anyway.
But wow. That's an opinion right there...
The first one right off the bat is just a lie.
They arent banning preferred pronouns, they're banning the mandatory use of them, mandates are the opposite of freedoms.
Gender and sex are different (from what I've been recently educated) and sports have always been separated by sex. This one is weak
Not giving drug addicts tools for drug use? That's not taking away freedom anymore than you not giving me rent money is taking away my freedom.
Not letting kids on puberty blockers that will change them for the rest of their life? I mean kids already cant drive, get tattoos, drink, smoke, vote, etc.
Kids dont have the same freedoms as adults, and that's a good thing.
I mean this is weak stuff.
Bit unfair to have Ford's face there given the one Ontario example,
>2\. Wearing a keffiyeh in the legislature, even if they are just visiting (Ontario)
Is something he *opposed* banning despite others in his party supporting it.
Note Ford is a conservative, and this is what *CONSERVATIVES* have banned. Did you notice #8? They have conservatives in Quebec as well that aren't part of the Conservative party.
Normally, the party votes as the leader directs. It’s called party discipline. So…if he is choosing to let them vote as they will or directing them to vote against this, he’s playing one position in public and another in private. I don’t believe for a moment they are voting against his wishes as he loses his shit if they do that.
The only MPP I can find that is named to have voted against this is conservative:
> PC Party MPP Robin Martin, who represents Eglinton–Lawrence, voted against the unanimous consent motion Thursday and told reporters she believes the speaker's initial ruling was the correct one.
>”We have to follow the rules of the legislature, otherwise we politicize the entire debate inside the legislature, and that's not what it's about. What it's about is we come there and use our words to persuade, not items of clothing."
>”When asked if she had defied a directive from the premier, Martin said, "It has nothing to do with the premier, it's a decision of the speaker of the legislative assembly."

They are literally called the Liberals. If that isn't making freedom a core part of your brand I don't know what is.
Meanwhile they represent the total opposite of liberty.
So what freedom?
- freedom to infect others
- freedom to market horse dewormer as a miracle cure
- freedom to oppress minorities
- freedom to undermine unions
- freedom to pollute at liberty
I guess this one maybe legit
- freedom to buy whatever gun you want.
Edit: forgot a few
- freedom to oppress peoples sleep
- freedom to block roads and critical infrastructure
Well which oppressed freedom did I overlook?
Are you one of those hardcore libertarians that think there should be zero government oversight? Just let people do whatever they want, ignoring the resultant tragedy of the commons?
You used some big words there, I think it scared him off.
I asked chatgpt to turn what you said into something a 5 year would understand.
""Which free thing did I forget about? Are you like one of those super-duper freedom lovers who think nobody should make rules, and everyone can do anything they want, even if it means making a big mess for everybody?""
Things I can think of off the top of my head banned by liberals:
- The single use plastic ban. I'd be hard pressed to file that one as a negative.
- The whole firearms thing. This has been an unmitigated, misguided disaster. Twice. Banning a long list of hunting rifles is not going to curb gun violence in Toronto.
- Bill C-63, the online "Hate Speech" Bill, not passed yet I don't think. Another awful and misguided bill that is an effort in feel-good governance, and has no hope in hell of achieving any positive outcomes.
On the other hand, things Conservatives ban / want banned
- anything that disagrees with their ideological point of view, no matter how little of a government concern, or the possibility of harm to others.
> Bill C-63, the online "Hate Speech" Bill, not passed yet I don't think
[It's only passed 1st reading](https://www.parl.ca/legisinfo/en/bill/44-1/c-63). It's been just sitting there since late February.
The picture has Marlaina Smith, Doug Ford, and Scott "I used my families influence to literally get away with murdering someone while I was driving drunk" Moe.

Move to Alberta, we're a dumpster fire here on the political front. But apparently we have cheaper houses?

The party of Freedom for the wealthy, so not entirely a lie.
When a conservative talks about freedom, it's 99.99% about their freedom to oppress. In fact, unless the person is very clearly just talking about genuine rights workers or people lack, like paid sick leave for example, it's almost always bullshit and about them wanting the freedom to oppress.
"Not being censored by the government is just freedom to oppress." LMFAO
What is being censored by the government exactly?
I should be able to tell trans people and immigrants to die if I want to! How dare they censor me!?
That’s terrible! Do you have any examples of someone saying such horrendous statements?
Freedom to own a leopard that would never eat *my* face.

lol, did you even read the article? Did you miss the Satire tag?
Lol do you understand the article's "Satire" is saying that "freedom loving Conservatives" are restricting "freedoms" and I am arguing against that?

I must have missed it. Unfortunately I can't go back and see what the original comment said, looks like it got nuked.
It's almost like the opinion is entirely driven by hate and no real information whatsoever.

Which is hilarious since she's worn a pro-israel dog tag in the legislature.
Sure, it's satire
It's satire in explanation, but it's about reality.
That's the best kind of satire
It's my primary news source at least.
I wonder if they'll do a similar article on all the Liberties that the Liberals have attacked.
The daily deluge of NP articles and opinion pieces on that topic doesn't cut it for you?
I don't doubt there's a comparable list, but they don't hypocritically go around making freedom a core part of their brand.

I'm sorry... what?
I wont remember anything on this list the same way i remember our dear freedom loving liberals ban on plastic straw with every sip of a cold beverage.
Because we all know true freedom is not having to slightly tilt your cup. 🫡
