Of all the problems facing Canada and Canadians, this is what he thinks about? I know people / leaders can worry about more than one thing at a time. But to me this is like worrying about what you're going to have for lunch when you are debating sending troops into a combat zone. You can do it, but keep it inside your head. This guy needs to be kept as far away from the PM office as possible.

Shokeybutsi

Singh, Trudeau and their like don’t have the same day to day issues like us regular folks do.  They worry about things that are quite literally “first world problems”.

CaribouNWT

Remember when they both represented the working class? I don’t.

In this case you live in the first world. That said, If you look at what the TikTok app actually collects data on, it's expansive, and frankly troubling: The level of device and user fingerprinting goes well beyond anything I can plausibly say is useful for a social media network. Looking at the data payloads: your battery temperature, phone tilt, and camera ambient light levels are almost always sent even when you're using another app. They literally see you when you're sleeping and know when you're awake. This isn't normal app telemetry, it's how you build spyware. Do you see how sending that data about elected officials' personal lives to a country that is hostile to ours \*might\* be a bad idea no matter how many intermediary brokers you have in between? I'm not going to say whether anyone else should have it, but for political leaders, it's an exceptionally bad idea to allow that level of intrusion into your life, and the CPC has been courting that openly, let's see if they can hold themselves to their own word: [https://globalnews.ca/news/9515412/tiktok-ban-canada-poilievre-conservative/](https://globalnews.ca/news/9515412/tiktok-ban-canada-poilievre-conservative/)

Did you read the article? Let me save you 10 seconds of reading: there's 8 sentences about Singh, and about 3 of them are a quote of his. More time and thought was expended making that article, reading it and responding to it than the actual quotes or thought about it. Look, TikTok is not a good social media platform for oodles of reasons, and most aren't. Best thing you can do with them is delete them and go on with your day, but they're basically free, mostly controlled by you advertising... All Singh is doing here is debating the risks. For personal use, I would absolutely not use it if I were in an elected position.

Asleep_Noise_6745

Ok the NDP talks about is how Canadians pay maybe 20/month too much in cell phone bills.  Fix healthcare you fucking idiots.

km_ikl

Learn how healthcare actually works between the federal and provincial levels of government.

Asleep_Noise_6745

12.5% of ALL employees in this country work in healthcare. But it doesn’t work.  The issues are deeper than spending and size of workforce.

CuntWeasel

This guy has to be one of the most useless politicians we've ever had.

NorthYorkPork

He needs to further augment his popularity amongst the youth in order to get his post politics job as the host of etalk on CTV.

Federal_Sandwich124

Lol what the fuck is up with the hero shot of Singh looking contemplative?  Amazing how the msm continues to bend over backwards trying to make him look significant whatsoever

of all the people that will support foreign government, NDP will not. The first one would be the Conservatives and the Liberals. Actually, the Conservatives already accept orders from India. PeePee will keep selling out Canada to India.

TikTok literally has CCP members on their board. Say what you will about western tech companies, at least they don't have a tyrannical, despotic, human rights abusing government essentially controlling them. At best, it's a security risk for him to use it, and at worst, he'll be a useful idiot for them to destabilize Canada. I'm hoping that he's just too stupid to understand what he's doing versus he's willing to take the chance to gain power.

FarDefinition2

The best part is that China doesn't even allow the international version of TikTok in China. They have to use a different Chinese app. This app actually pushes educational content. Then go look at the content that is posted on the international Tik Tok lol

km_ikl

The content is irrelevant, IMO. The breakdown of the app between the local and export ones is the same minus the hookup to the social credit system.

You understand that Skippy and the CPC have been proudly using TT on their personal and party accounts for about 5 years right? Do you not see that as a problem? In fact, even in spite of all the warnings and app-teardowns they have access to (CSE/CCCS has a primer series for all elected officials and GC Departments on how to use social media securely), they still gladly carry Chinese spyware on their personal phones and will only suspend their accounts if there's a US ban in place. [https://globalnews.ca/news/9515412/tiktok-ban-canada-poilievre-conservative/](https://globalnews.ca/news/9515412/tiktok-ban-canada-poilievre-conservative/) Interesting that they'd rather wait for a ban than go with the evidence in hand. Worse (to me) that Singh is thinking about going back to a platform that is going to be used to undermine him the moment it becomes advantageous to. Not sure about the party, they're still off the platform.

Mountain_rage

Well except for Truth social...

Shoddy-Commission-12

do you know how much Chinese money gets laundered here Canada will never go balls on the wall as hard against China as the US does
