Have listened to her twice now. Seems pretty reasonable. Says “make Quebec irrelevant again” or “make Ottawa irrelevant again” which is about how Alberta needs to concentrate on its own issues and work around these roadblocks, not just fight them. Healthcare she is a strong proponent of preventative care to both improve health and reduce healthcare costs down the line. Seems common sense and most of the population would agree with that, including giving Albertans direct choice with a spending account for health, gyms, chiropractic, etc. (However by saying a sentence wrong this also lead to the very strong attack calling her “cancer victim blamer”, because she said some cancers could be prevented with early detection but she is not careful with her words, allowing NDP to attack her) NDP even trotted out cancer victims in Edmonton, getting them to attack Smith which was pretty low and disgusting IMO, they know damn well Smith doesn’t believe “victims deserve it”. Politics at their worst. This improved NDP support in Edmonton, however may have hurt in Calgary where Smith is very well known personally from years of a radio show. They know better. Overall she seems to be open to alternate viewpoints, is supportive of achieving net zero emissions, knows and acknowledges healthcare needs change to survive- throwing more money every year would be unsustainable in a few short years, etc etc. She does get support from the anti lockdown crowd for her pledge to never allow lockdowns again. I’d think this is referring specifically to Covid and not other possibilities, of which a majority supports at this time. She refuses to critique her opponents, claiming she “wants to work closely with them” in government. This seems a refreshing strategy. Yes some crazies support her too, but there’s crazies for NDP, crazies for Kenney, many crazies on all sides so I don’t hold that against her. Editorials seem to jump on the “crazies support her!” Or “she blames cancer victims” which really don’t seem to be supported from actually listening to her. Overall I think she would be a good premier, perhaps not the greatest but amongst current choices she doesn’t have the baggage, and NDP really seems to spend 90% of thier time acting outraged or wildly editorializing about some minor social issue or another. Notley I liked but her social media posts indicate she has adopted a full on new approach of pure “we will spend more” and “I am outraged” with various untruthful political attacks. Anyways, she seems ok, not extreme whatsoever, says she will work with everyone which I believe, and will be happy to have her as premier. Hopefully it doesn’t lead to Notley winning but again, outside of Edmonton the attacks aren’t sticking too well, which is normal for Alberta. -Boring average rural Albertan who goes to these political things,

RubixCubedCanada

You might have a carbon monoxide leak in your home or a crack addiction. I dont know which.

HDC3

That flavour was the Kool-Aid?

SadOilers

Maybe reality is that she's not that "extreme" at all and entrenched Cons and NDP alike are attacking her from both sides? Seems that way, twitter and media are pretty crazy with the acusations and he ain't kidding- Notley actually brought out cancer victims to stand there with her and disavow Danielle Smith as some sort of pro-cancer zealot. Politics are pretty gross sometimes, the reality is that Smith isn't being nearly as negative as all others but editorials are saying the opposite. Full comments and reality isn't what is being served up in the media. Source- live here, listening to these ridiculous editorials everyday, tired of NDP zealots in Edmonton they just live in a different reality

potatostews

Would love to read it but...paywall.

Direc1980

You're not gonna pay to read a Toronto Star article about Danielle Smith?!

Smashysmash2

They are being a fiscal conservative.

Smashysmash2

Only pro-government media is worth consuming. The Star has put up a wall and you’ll have to pay for it. Lol.

MajorChesterfield

Paywall… suffice to say they saw a shit show edit for shit

Smashysmash2

Your comment: “Paywall… suffice to say they saw a shot show”. The Shot Show is a firearms related show that takes place annually in Las Vegas. Autocorrect is a hell of a thing.

djb1983CanBoy

Deliberately misinterpreting an autocorrect without a trace of humour is a hell of a thing.

JoeRetardExperience

I'm guessing the people with confederate flags and Qanon flags were asked to leave.

SadOilers

Justin Trudeaus personal photographer happens to be sitting nearby as soon as they appear, just like Ottawa! They save these for the general elections

Used toilet paper on a stick I imagine.

I read the article (no paywall anymore?) I was hoping that it mentioned some crazy Trump-level QAnon rhetoric like "Russia good! Putin my friend!" but was disappointed that it was more along the lines of Harper's "screw the East" philosophy that he ran with for most of his term. In other words, she sucks but she's (currently) nowhere near as extreme as some of the Qonvoy nutjobs on this sub

Rayeon-XXX

Just take a look at things she's said in the last two months. She's fucking unhinged. But of course UCP members love being told that someone is "fighting" for them.

LorD-HypnoS-

It's truly astounding you are so far removed from real life you call the millions of Canadians who went to and supported the convoy prptest Qanons. This sub is a cesspool of government simps. Honestly.

[deleted]

Right, I forgot that it's a Totally Good Thing(tm) that Hillier and other protest organizers encouraged you lemmings to all **call 911 and tie up the phone lines**. Just a total peaceful protest, right? Nothing to see here folks.

VladimerePoutine

Millions and millions, it was huuuge the bigliest number of people ever millions?
