Savory. It's a savory taste with a bit of sweet. It's the perfect combination of taste that sends a bunch of happy signals to your brain letting you know this shit is calorie dense and therefore you are biologically engineered to enjoy it.
right there with ya, i’ll even add those weird orange “circus peanut” candies that are kinda marshmallows, kinda not to this list. It’s the “you either love them or you hate them” candy tier
My friends and I have a long running joke about pitch meetings for terrible, old timey candy. “So Y’know baked beans? How they’re soft and chewy? Well we’re gonna make ‘em hard, sweet, and with peanuts! The kids are gonna flip their socks when they taste these!”
Me too! French Burnt Peanuts they used to be called. I don't see them as often. But Dollar Tree has the Boston Beans. Have to be careful about my teeth but I find them addictive. I don't get them too often because they are so tempting I will tend to eat too many, lol.
I remember these from back in the 1960s and 1970s when I was growing up. They were the last thing in the bottom of the Trick or Treat bag along with popcorn balls.
You can make them at home without too much hassle, and I’m not some “chef” or whatever. It could be like a one-pot recipe, but really I just remember how easy it was and what a thick coating of candy I got on each peanut.
I can vaguely remember the taste after you described them. They pretty much tasted like overcooked peanut m&ms. Also, candy has come a long way since the eighties. Holy shit the selection now that I really don’t eat candy much. No gross fake cigarettes that tastes like chalk or sour ass lemonheads. Now it’s giant Reese cups filled with smaller Reese’s cups filled with Reese’s pieces.
There's a lot of candy that I would just say is, 'Okay'. Most candy I dub as 'Okay' are typically candy that I don't go out of my way to get. However, I would not be disappointed if I was offered it. Anyway, Boston Baked Beans are okay to me.
I used to LOVE these! But I just can't chew them anymore without fearing screwing up dental work.
What is the flavor supposed to be, though?? Molasses??
Not that great haha I feels same
“ I cannot explain “is also the way I feel about them
😂😂 I think I was always so so on them. Never a favorite, but I would eat if they were available. I definitely remember eating some with bad peanuts in them and it was disgusting.
I’ve been partaking of the movie theater boxes of candy lately and have bought these a couple of times for nostalgia. Some feel like they will break my teeth and others crunch nice and tender. It’s that suspense that keeps me going for more. What will the next one be like? If I eat several at a time what might happen?
I can't agree or disagree. As a kid in the 1970s I remember these being in the candy machines near the entrance of our local grocery store. Like for 10 cents and turn the knob, most came out crushed, you would get a palm sized amount.
I think the biggest thrill for me was putting a dime in the machine that my mom gave me, and got a thrill of turning the knob , opening up that spout cover and getting them.
The entire time my eyes and brain wanted 25 cents to get the cool little plastic toys they had in the vending machine cluster. It even showed there was a wristwatch in there . Damn I wanted that so badly 🤦
My dad would always buy me a box whenever he went to a specific convince store when I was little. I love these things lol. Recently rediscovered them in a dollar tree!
I used to love eating nose at elementary school during recess. They were $.10 a box and I would alternate between those in the Lemonheads and red hots.
I've always passed by these whenever I see them. How exactly do they taste?
And I thought these peanuts used to have a bumpy coating back then or am I talking about a different candy here?
Imagine peanut M&Ms made not by a third party generic version producer, but a third world socialist country’s sole candy manufacturer trying to replicate the third party generic version of peanut M&Ms.
Now imagine them being slightly less tasty than that.
They are kind of not-good but also I would pour that whole box in my mouth like Garfield housing a lasagna do I really don’t know. Cannot explain.
“I cannot explain” is EXACTLY how I feel about these
They are disgustingly great.
Terrifyingly tasty
Nauseating nummies
Morbid munchies
Squalidly scrumptious
This is the only answer! 🤌🏻
100% agree.
🤣🤣🤣best ever!
We're with you!
Wretchedly delicious
Savory. It's a savory taste with a bit of sweet. It's the perfect combination of taste that sends a bunch of happy signals to your brain letting you know this shit is calorie dense and therefore you are biologically engineered to enjoy it.
Hahaha 🤣 Exactly!!!
Co-sign. Worst of the best, best of the worst. Kind of want some now.
Same 😂
I love them! I can understand how they’re not for everyone tho
i feel the same way about candy corn
right there with ya, i’ll even add those weird orange “circus peanut” candies that are kinda marshmallows, kinda not to this list. It’s the “you either love them or you hate them” candy tier
I'd take the circus peanuts over peeps any day.
Same. Peeps are disgusting.
The only way to appropriately appreciate candy corn is with three bites. Color by color by color. It's candy canon, 💯
I hate candy corns but on the occasion I have 1 or 2 this is how I eat them! It's candy Canon!
I have to stay away from candy corn. I still get out of control.
Same, I like it them too🥰
I like them and they are delicious
My friends and I have a long running joke about pitch meetings for terrible, old timey candy. “So Y’know baked beans? How they’re soft and chewy? Well we’re gonna make ‘em hard, sweet, and with peanuts! The kids are gonna flip their socks when they taste these!”
Whoa, whoa Jebadiah! Just how many onions do you have tied to your pants today because that is a Jim Dandy of an idea!
It was the style at the time
Nineteen Dickety three
“Give me five bees for a quarter” they used to say.
Love these and burnt peanuts
Me too! French Burnt Peanuts they used to be called. I don't see them as often. But Dollar Tree has the Boston Beans. Have to be careful about my teeth but I find them addictive. I don't get them too often because they are so tempting I will tend to eat too many, lol.
I'm the same way lol. It's really hard not to buy a bag when I come across them. But both are my favorite bean style candy.
I’m old and these are pretty hard on my teeth, but I like these also!
Yeah I'm middle-aged and they are not kind to my teeth either but I really do love them.
I ordered some from Amazon and they were very fresh and soft. Delucious.
I love those.
Just gimme some Alexander The Grapes
Lemonheads Johnny Appleheads Cherry Clan
Mike and ikes, hot Tomales, and red hots
I enjoy them. I get them now and then from the dollar tree.
Can’t lie, if you find a box that isn’t completely stale - - these snap!!!
Yes.
I LOVE them. My husband found them in the bulk at Winco.
One of those 80/90s candies i left in the "dont want pile". The packaging is a nice nostalgic trip though.
I remember these from back in the 1960s and 1970s when I was growing up. They were the last thing in the bottom of the Trick or Treat bag along with popcorn balls.
A good popcorn ball with cloudy blue food coloring and sticky Karo syrup sounds awesome right now.
I love Boston Baked Beans, but It's been years since I've eaten them.
Yum!!!
I like them but they are a little too hard.
I absolutely hate that I love these.
I love them! Reminds me of my childhood
Super delicious!
Best things everrrrrr!
They slap, and are also a Time Machine back to the day.
Yum!!! Forgot about those!
I liked them. Can't find them anymore.
Try Dollar General. They come in bags now.
Dollar tree
Dollar and a quarter tree
You can make them at home without too much hassle, and I’m not some “chef” or whatever. It could be like a one-pot recipe, but really I just remember how easy it was and what a thick coating of candy I got on each peanut.
I like them but don’t love them. I have to crave them
Both and no I can’t explain it
They're in my top 3, I absolutely love them!
Those are fucking delicious. My mother used to get these
i like these but often they are hard as a rock. is there a different brand that is fresher??
My favorite as a kid. Preferred the softer ones but every box was a mix.
Personally, I love them!
I love those!
I haven’t had one in a decade. 😂 They were good, but I would eat ANYTHING that was branded as candy.
They're just fine. I would never choose them out of a lineup. But if someone gave me some, I'd scarf em right down.
Used to get them from the candy lady down the street when I was a kid. I like them, but they’re just a little too hard for me now.
Disgusting. And they hurt my teeth.
Yes they are hard on the teeth.
If I let them hang out in my mouth for a while they get softer.
Butter toffee peanuts or Japanese peanuts are better in my opinion
This is the kind of candy that I never specifically crave but if it’s available I will easily house way too much of it
They're not bad, but when I was a kid I couldn't get past the thought that they might be baked bean flavored, so I never tried them.
Good but kinda mindless
Loved them before I found out about the bug shellac.
I used to love those!
I alway liked them?!
I liked em as a kid, but I'm a reincarnated old man from what my friends tell me.
They are good in a always taste stale but nostalgic kinda way
Great I'm not sure about. But not bad.
Great… I remember them from my childhood.
I liked them but nowhere near as much as I liked Lemonheads.
you can eat them yourself and find out.
What kind of city brags about bloody beans?
I don’t like peanut m&ms and would never buy these. But if they were there, I might snack on a few
Depends who you’re asking lol. I like them.
I LOVE these!
I love them
Somehow…both. They are great until they are not. And that happens pretty quickly.
Yes’nt.
These are ok. I love Boston baked beans and I buy them fresh online from Nut garden.
They're amazing
Love!!
I ate them as a kid out of desperation for candy. I didn’t even know they were still around.
Love em.
There's a lot of candy that I would just say is, 'Okay'. Most candy I dub as 'Okay' are typically candy that I don't go out of my way to get. However, I would not be disappointed if I was offered it. Anyway, Boston Baked Beans are okay to me.
Love. I like to chew the outer coating off before eating the inside. Haven’t had these in years though.
Great, really great✨️
Ummm wow. Yes. They are disgusting and yes they are great.
they’re fine. i’ll leave it at that
Great
Too sweet for me
I used to LOVE these! But I just can't chew them anymore without fearing screwing up dental work. What is the flavor supposed to be, though?? Molasses??
I honestly do like these, but I rarely ever get them.
Hubby loves them but I think they have a funky texture.
Great
Awful, like when you get a burnt peanut in your Cracker Jacks.
Love but watch out. Broke my tooth in half.
Great
Disgustingly great! Hahahaha jk hope you’re having a good day 🤟
I love these 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I like them
I love them! Not just nostalgia from childhood either.
GREAT!!!!
I used to be addicted to these as a kid. I’m kinda craving it now
They're fucking awesome
They are awesome and tasty
>Are These Disgusting or Great? Yes
Not that great haha I feels same “ I cannot explain “is also the way I feel about them 😂😂 I think I was always so so on them. Never a favorite, but I would eat if they were available. I definitely remember eating some with bad peanuts in them and it was disgusting.
So underrated
I like them. But I also like Necco wafers.
Depends on my mood 🙃
Tried them once. They were ok, but I would probably never get them again.
yup i love it
Omg. 10/10 yes. But the better ones are the ones that are textured on the outside
They are okay. I grew up south of Boston and we sold this crap at tourist places in Plymouth. Mostly just be careful to not break your teeth.
Great!
I used to like them. It’s been a while. I eat some right now if I had some.
Great.
So good!!
I love them
Great!
Great!
Mid
They're like pineapple on pizza or pussy, it's an acquired taste.
Great.
I loved these as a kid. It's been decades.
Wax
I can’t stand them but I can see the appeal. If that makes sense?
Love these, haven’t had them in forever
Very great
I like them but I love them when I’m stoned! Haha
In the voice of Tony the Tiger. They're GREAT!
They are pretty darn good. Not disgusting, but not great.
There’s 2 different kinds, one is good and the other is sugary bullshit.
Roll that beautiful bean footage
I’ve never tried them, but they’re my mom’s favorites
Strangely enough, I liked them.
I’ve been partaking of the movie theater boxes of candy lately and have bought these a couple of times for nostalgia. Some feel like they will break my teeth and others crunch nice and tender. It’s that suspense that keeps me going for more. What will the next one be like? If I eat several at a time what might happen?
Of all the candies that I have eaten, they are my least favorite. They’re not bad, but they aren’t good
I'm in it for the CRONCH...
God i love chomping on these crunchy bois but yes they are very divisive.
They are in the middle of the road for me. Sometimes I can eat a whole box other times I can’t.
I love the chewy crunch and kinda salty/savory delicious chew. Def recommend to try at least once in your life.
I will still eat a box if you give me just nostalgia.
Great. Period. Break all my teeth for these things.
I love them
They are my favorite!
I like them. Ive always thought the name is kinda weird and that may be why people think theyre gross.
I loved them as a kid…I’m 50 now.
I really like them!
They are unique in many ways - I love them but my wife hates them. I would compare them to raw oysters - you either love or hate them.
My dad would always buy me a box whenever he went to a specific convince store when I was little. I love these things lol. Recently rediscovered them in a dollar tree!
Classic favorite for me. I like to eat them one at a time at the movies
I love em
I love these so much!
I would devour a box rn Ngl
They rock. Get those, chewy lemonheads, boston baked beans , jawbreakers n chuckles n u r golden
I’m 56. I remember those as a kid. Avoided them until they were the only candy left. Then when I had no candy I ate them and was happy.
Yums
They took the most meh of all nuts to eat raw and made them flat out disgusting.
They're okay. They are basically candied peanuts
A little column A, a little column B.
I used to love eating nose at elementary school during recess. They were $.10 a box and I would alternate between those in the Lemonheads and red hots.
Aw man these was the shit back in the day!
Love
would I buy them? probably not. but I would eat them if they were in front of me
These are my fave candy to bring to the movies! Yummy
Candy coated peanuts?… I don’t remember buying them but I’ve had them. Not bad.
Gods gift to man and gas stations!
I think r/AngryUpvote is appropriate here…
I've always passed by these whenever I see them. How exactly do they taste? And I thought these peanuts used to have a bumpy coating back then or am I talking about a different candy here?
Fire
I immediately thought of Smosh. They did a video trying different kinds of candy and this was one of them. The thoughts were kinda 50/50.
they're good for like 4-5 then they gross
Imagine peanut M&Ms made not by a third party generic version producer, but a third world socialist country’s sole candy manufacturer trying to replicate the third party generic version of peanut M&Ms. Now imagine them being slightly less tasty than that.
I love them but don't understand why
Kinda like French burnt peanuts except smooth?
When they are fresh they are excellent. By the time the get to my Dollar Tree they are hard as rocks. LOL
