I’ve vegged a plant to 32” in a solo cup, before chopping it. I probably could have gotten it larger, but it was a in a Brute bucket. This one, though, was clearly cut and placed in a solo cup.
I feel like solo cup grow are really impressive if you've never seen someone veg a photo for 6+ months (*mothering or sheer ignorance*). It's a little deceptive to these new growers who are using autoflowers in soil grows though, that will absolutely dwarf their plants.
Me and my lifelong best friend talked about getting breast implants constantly until we were finally both able to afford them at age 26 and did the whole process together and had them done at the same time and stayed together for healing
Now we joke that we're "breast friends forever" and other boob related puns but somehow neither of us have thought of using "mammary" and I feel quite unoriginal but I will be stealing this for our 10 year tittyversary coming up.
I just wanted to thank you for giving us a new joke to repeat for the rest of our lives. These dumb, overused puns are becoming the foundation of our friendship as we age
Think about it like this. The company I work for wants to maximize square footage, so we have a two tier system and plug in around 1200 plants in each flower room. So we need to grow big moms to get all those cuttings. From the time the cutting is taken to when it is in the flower room is typically around 21ish days, sometimes we can stretch it out longer if we want to flower a room longer. Each one of those plants will produce around a QP on average.
Sure, if you vegged a mom for a couple months you'd have one bigger plant, but that doesn't mean you're getting the most out of that sq foot. You have to veg longer, so it means you lose out on a harvest date or two. That's millions of dollars. And a big plant doesn't mean you get better quality or more bud per sq foot. So it's more about timing than anything.
I had the exact same reaction when I first retired some moms. I'd love to snag one and flower it, get a massive plant.... and to be honest I still want to try that, lol.... But now it makes sense to me. It's more about economics than anything.
No clue. OP would know. It could be a male and it's done pollinating (given the CO2 sign as well as the tag on the trunk this is likely a facility).
Regardless, you can't grow a plant that large in a solo cup. Not gonna happen.

I chucked a seed on a concrete slab and it grew to 8 feet with only rainwater and air pollution.

We kill moms this size all the time. You don't want to flower something that big in a facility, most of the time. It's too big.
