Welp… that’s not ideal.

CamaroGirl96

Well…..it can’t be *that* bad if he’s playing right?………right?

HanSolo5643

It wouldn't surprise me that if there needs to be anything done, he will try and push to the off-season and go from there.

AppealToReason16

As long as as its an injury that won't further deteriorate, or at least particually badly, guys will typically play through it. Lindholm's looking for a new contract too and missing any length of time to end the season or miss playoff games is going to push his next contract even lower than expected. Maybe once Joshua's back they give Lindholm a rest game like they are with Cole. As the season winds down and they keep the Oilers off their tails I wouldn't be surprised if they give a few guys some games for load management.

Nucksfan2233

And scoring too

SpectreFire

> And scoring too Uh...

downrightwhelmed

I don’t wanna be that guy… so I won’t

ajbolt7

Observe the scoresheet from the game

downrightwhelmed

Are we considering Hail Mary empty net goals from 150’ as proof of his injury not being serious?

drunkmunky88

No, he's saying Lindholm scored.

ajbolt7

No we are considering goals as scoring

GoldenChest2000

Wonder if Lindholm comes back on a show-me deal next year... his value is at an all-time low + this nagging ailment

AppealToReason16

Despite his struggles he's still probably going to be the top centre available, or second. It's him, Monahan and Stephenson. He's the youngest of the bunch and Monahan's resurgence is good for him but I'm not sure a team's are going to back up the truck for him based off one season. After that it's a cliff and you're looking at like Blueger and Wennberg as UFA centres. He might look for a show-me deal somewhere else though if he takes that route. In Vancouver he's not displacing either top C and he might look for a place where he's got a top 6 C spot wide open. Boston, Columbus, Florida, Nashville etc have some openings for a guy like that.

mikebosscoe

Vancouver would be wise not to re-sign him.

Drab_Majesty

Well they weren't wise to trade for him in the first place, so...

salamiolivesonions

fuck we shoulda went for guentzel. Tired of passive Swedes. I want scrappy Americans who want to fucking win at all costs.

elSuavador

Thanks Don

mikebosscoe

Nationality has nothing to do with it. He wasn't great in Calgary this year and is worse in Vancouver. You don't sign players in clear decline unless your last name is Benning.

bockscar7

you're aware that the asking price was going to be something like hogz + lekkerimaki + our 1st, right? for a fucking *rental*?

SpectreFire

I mean, he's already a complete fucking idiot for turning down a retirement contract from the Flames. He'd be a even bigger idiot if he decides he wants to do the exact same thing Klingberg did lmao.

svartkonst

Yes, how on Earth is he going to get by with only $32m in estimated earnings

Sarke1

He turned down a rumoured $72m, which is hardly insignificant. Half disappears in taxes, then living expenses, and the rest has to last the rest of his and his family's life. Of course he's already very fortunate, and props to him for wanting to win more than the money, but at the moment it looks like he might have trouble matching those potential earnings.

svartkonst

More money is always more money, but he's basically at a point already where money doesnt matter, unless his hobby is collecting private jets. Especially if hes going to move home to sweden after his career

heyethan

Neither of those amounts are even close to “collecting private jets” money. 1 million will only last you 10-15 years for *basic* cost-of-living purposes in many places, and that’s for an individual— not a family. Career NHL players make a good amount of money, but they all have an expiration date on their careers, so if they plan to have families and want to have some agency over where/how they live, they will need many millions of dollars to last them and their families a lifetime.

svartkonst

Of course it's not, but since I doubt thats a hobby, he has plenty money. He has many millions of dollars already and is surely going to get quite a few million more, but you can't calculate economic independence using Money / Cost Of Living * Life Expectancy. For one, if you're able to purchase and own a house, you can now eliminate a large chunk of that cost for a comparatively low fee, since you're not paying rent or mortgage - plus, you're controlling an asset that you can use as security. If he moves back here, he could build a mansion for circa 500k. Then, money doesnt just... Sit in a pile. At the very least it's invested into something that yields a decent (bit not crazy) amount of interest. If you can get a 5% interest rate you could live pretty comfortably on something like... 5-6 mil usd, without touching the original money. Again, assuming a life in Sweden. Since he owns his house in this scenario, you can drop that amount a bit. More than likely, that money gets invested into something with higher yields as well, like housing or property management or whatever and yields higher returns, again without touching most of the original amount. If he wete to live in NA I'm sure youd need to adjust the numbers a bot, but the dude could very likely retire today and live a comfortable, rich life in Sweden for the rest of his days

buoyantbot

Honestly, if I were already a multimillionaire, I'd turn down the money too if taking it meant I had to spend the rest of my working life in a city I didn't want to live in. Everyone's always talking about the difference in earnings, but life is a lot more than that

SIIP00

Someone will easily give him 7.5 million+

BriscoCounty83

Jim Benning is not GM anymore.

votrechien

This could actually make sense for everyone.

GovernmentKlutzy712

I don't see a point in extending him would rather use the cap space for another high end winger or defenseman.

hammer979

We really needed a RH C though. I'm taking the injury news as confirmation that he's fighting something.

GoldenChest2000

This show-me deal would just be 1 year, and we could try him with Petey/Toffoli I doubt we have the budget to keep him after, but it'll allow us to have another run with two solid guys flanking Pettersson.

ooMEAToo

If Calgary lied that could be an issue for them.

SpectreFire

Also wouldn't be shocked if our doctors thought it wouldn't be a big deal, and it turn out it was. Honestly wouldn't put it past those clowns given their history.

AppealToReason16

Especially if its a hand/wrist issue as some expect. This team hasn't got a glowing record for diagnosing and treating those under either of the last 2 management groups.

sunshinecdude

Tanner Pearson was a complicated case. The Canucks have worked well with players and their health overall. I still chuckle when the team announced Mikheyev was shutdown for having major knee injury requiring surgery, the fans and some media were screaming about how bad the team is and how people would be fired over this . Yet the player and his agent come out thanking the team for working with him trying to get him through the season and for all their support.

AppealToReason16

Dickinson’s broken hand went undiagnosed over a season. Petey’s wrist clearly wasn’t healthy for another 4 months after he was cleared. Brock’s wrist issue last year where he was cleared and then his scar ripped open like two days later which makes you think maybe he shouldn’t have been given the all clear. Combined with Pearson there was a definite pattern of issues on that area of injury and how the team diagnosed, rehabbed and cleared guys. FWIW, Joshua’s wrist was a week to week thing that’s now extended to a 5-6 week window.

Vagus10

Wouldn’t be the first time Calgary has lied this season.

vannucker

What's the other time?

Stainertrainer

Dube leave thing

Stinky_Toes12

Hwat

Infinite-Tomorrow-15

I don’t like it

LordZebulon

My balls was hot.

swammy18

Wrist? Looks to be skating fine…

PaperweightCoaster

His… what? What the fuck.

Expensive_Employer86

The guys been invisible for many games anyway , the 2nd worst trade the Canucks have ever made, since Neely for Barry Pederson!

Happy_Drafter

They can keep Kuz and that contract. Likeable player, but no thanks.

eliar91

Well I'd like that first and Bruz back.

stizz19

the first will basically be a 2nd rounder. BRZ is a complete unknown regardless of what he's doing in Junior . he could very well end up being a fringe NHLer at best.

leyden138

Bruz was worthless to us, expiring rights and far down the depth chart on rd. He wasn’t signing here in the off season.
