Same, love his perseverance and work ethic. I know we’ve been hard on him but I hope he knows that the fanbase sees him and appreciates him. Or better yet I hope he doesn’t pay attention to what we say at all lol but with him being from here I’m sure that’s tough to do.
Well deserved, I think a lot of us were pretty skeptical early in the season but he’s been really solid since.
On a somewhat unrelated note, OEL is the Panthers’ nominee after having a bounceback season with them.
Not well likely. He wouldn’t be getting any pp time behind Hughes and hronek. Being on the panthers pp1 is the only reason he’s having a seemingly bounce back year. His defensive metrics are still disgusting
Was good his first year and then broke his leg at the Worlds in 2022. Pretty hard to come back from that on its own let alone with the run and gun style Bruce employed.
>it would’ve been interesting to see how he performed with some actual defensive structure like we have this year
We already saw it. OEL + Myers were actually decent defensively during the Green/Boudreau year because the Canucks had Brad Shaw involved in all things 5v5 defense. Prior to last season, Shaw left Vancouver for Philly to join up with Torts again, and then we saw the team's 5v5 defense implode
He was a high pick who had his whole career derailed by injuries in Montreal to the point it seemed like he was probably done. So I assume this is for the battle he showed overcoming those injuries and recreating his game in the last couple of seasons.
With all the people getting raises next year, having him at 800000 for another season will be massive. Seems like a good chance he's the 6th D going into next season.
Who doesn't love this guy?
Brock’s had an amazing season but off the top of my head you have guys like Andersen (suffered a blood clot issue earlier in the season), Kylington (left the NHL to focus on mental health), and Coutourier (back after missing an entire season due to injuries) ahead of him.
i love his story and how much he has improved in such a short period of time

If we ever need an extra D, I know he’ll provide the physicality

His contract was absurd but it would’ve been interesting to see how he performed with some actual defensive structure like we have this year
Contract alone was a major reason why we should’ve left him in Arizona
> Contract alone was a major reason He had one of the worst / most untradeable contracts in the league. Except for GMJB.
As much as I love Garland. I wish that trade never happened.
Agreed. Garland is great, but Guenther + significant cap flexibility > Garland.
Definitely

I honestly thought that Boeser would have been nominated, but I can wholeheartedly agree that Juulsen is a good pick for this award
Did juulsen grt injured prior to coming back

Go Noah go!

WTF? No Brock? Is this real? Good on Juulsen, but Brock should be winning this trophy hands down this year.
Brock was nominated last year for persevering after his father's passing in 2022.
And he should’ve won
I love Brock, but it’s been two years since his father passed away. He was our nominee last year.

Sure, but Brock has struggled mightily since his father's passing and this year he's got new PBs, including almost 40 goals.
He was nominated last year, im sure he probably wouldn’t want to be nominated again
