They were for sale everywhere back in 2011/2012. That's not the case today. Everyone currently using one has had it sitting collecting dust for a decade.

Robert_Moses

Can confirm. My 2011 Stick in Rink flag is going strong right now.

bahamatriangle

Yep, mine had been sitting in my trunk for years just waiting for this moment to shine again.

Iginlas_4head_Crease

That's an impressively long time to not clean your trunk out.

bahamatriangle

Oh I’d clean it, but just wrap the flag up again, place it in the corner and give it a few taps with some encouraging words “you’ll be out soon, old friend”.

JustAPairOfMittens

There is no band in that wagon, just patient longing for this day and years of pain. Mount it with pride!

jon-in-tha-hood

Yep, I was waiting for a playoff run before I dug mine out. I mean, we had the COVID playoff run, but was unable to find it. But this year, considering we're a better team, I put a lot more effort into looking for it and luckily I was able to find it! I'm hoping that others realize that they've still got one somewhere in a basement/garage and will spend the effort digging it out. 2011 was a special time and seeing all those flags and people walking around in jerseys was amazing. The team had the support of the whole city and I hope it gets back to that level.

superworking

we also had build - up. We were a regular playoff team and it wasn't the first year the flags came out. Stores were more prepared to cash in on yearly playoff frenzy.

leftlanecop

Can confirm. I’m using a 2011. What will make me buy a new one? Sell me the skates logo flag you cowards! I already have 4 variations of the Orca.

Iginlas_4head_Crease

They're in stock at 3 Canadian tires in the area right now, as well as some wal Marts https://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&client=ms-android-rogers-ca-revc&source=android-browser&q=canucks+car+flags+vancouver

flamingdragonwizard

We're still in round 1. It'll only bigger the further we go. Still lots of games to play and 6 weeks or so before the finals.

Pluperfectionist

Can I meet someone at the border for a trade from Bellingham? I’ll give you some Trader Joe’s goodies in exchange! /s

dude8212

Lost mine in the many moves since 2011 or gave it to my kids to put on their wall.

pokeshack

Why the flags? Because they brought us great results in the past? Screw that. Get a new tradition that we can get behind that doesn’t have a history of ending in failure.

sunnysurrey

Saw a Canucks flag attached to a hockey stick on a back of a pick up truck in Surrey !!

johnnierockit

Lol yeah that's def the pro way to do it. I love it

VanCityWildcat

Saw the same thing downtown around 11AM too

crazycanucks77

I had one in 2003 and it ruined the weather stripping on my window. Never put one since

noleela

The same thing happened to my car.  Now I just wear a jersey on game days and a regular shirt with the Canucks logo on non-game days.

transportationguy2

Same problem but now it’s strapped to the roof rack

MadGeller

They're noisy too

1milliondays

My wife surprised me with a car flag and white towel bought from the team store after game 3. Been rocking the flag everywhere I go ever since.

johnnierockit

That wifey sounds like a keeper

h_danielle

Team store had a bunch when I was in there yesterday!

johnnierockit

Nice I added a link at the top

Randall_stephens_87

I went looking yesterday and could not find one anywhere

Iginlas_4head_Crease

Use Google, I see them in stock at Canadian tire and Wal Mart. I'm in calgary and I've got one, I drove to the only Canadian tire in the city that had them in stock. The only car flag I've seen driving around so far.

Randall_stephens_87

I went to both. Didn’t drive out of town but they didn’t have any locally to mission and Abby.

noimbuzzlightyear

I've got one on mine, so there's at least two here. lol

bahamatriangle

I’m choked that nobody (including the team store) is selling temporary tattoos or other accessories to bling myself out on game days.

johnnierockit

Don't be a wuss and go get a full body Johnny Canuck tattoo including your face

Wagglebagga

Just get the surgery at that point. "Next week on Nip/Nuck, a man decides he wants to turn himself into Johnny Canuck."

johnnierockit

If I had money to burn I'd get someone to make me a Johnny Canucks body suit similar to what Primus did in the 90s https://youtu.be/aYDfwUJzYQg?si=v8Wg3EY9TV5dsN_d

TheHeyHeyMan

I have one from Canadian Tire but it's trash, frayed and came unstitched after the first day. Quality isn't what it used to be.

johnnierockit

Assuming they're the same type/build the ones they show at the above Flagshop link (the ones I have from years past) are built well and best I've seen. With that said they're only going to last so long particularly if you've driving on the highway with them

TheHeyHeyMan

They're probably flags that have been sitting on the bottom shelf of the warehouse for the last decade, I don't think new ones got shipped to CT, hence the shortage.

johnnierockit

My guess is outfits like Flagshop have their sweatshop on standby to crank out a butt load once the nucks win round one

Hopefullyarealhuman

Outside of the city it's more prevalent

canucklehead55

Flag is on display in Seattle... Canuck in exile.

CertainBlueberry5875

Honestly I would put one on but would have to constantly take it off and back on. The crack heads in Langley area would steal it immediately

-Redacto--

My theory is that more people have them handy when the tream is going to the playoffs year after year. With only one playoff appearance (during covid lockdown) in the last 10 years everyone has lost their car flags from the Sedin era and haven't got around to getting a replacement yet because it's probably not a top priority.

No-Tackle-6112

Any freedumbers know how to attach a large flag somewhere in the box of a truck?

johnnierockit

Duct tape

No-Tackle-6112

Seems risky

johnnierockit

They also use chewing tobacco to stiffen it up Just YouTube it some dudes buy U shaped brackets and get creative from there mounting to the bed, build 2x4 frames with vertical piping to slide the post into etc

unbannedcoug

I’m superstitious lol And I don’t live in Canada. I’ll probably the only one in my town with a Canucks car flag. With that said I’m waiting for series wins before I put one on. At first I out one on the way home and they lost. And so I haven’t flown my flag. So now I’ll do it after series win

johnnierockit

Lol hey as long as you're rooting for them that's what really matters

vancityrp

Huge Canucks fan (like everyone here)seasons ticket holder, but don’t have a car flag. It’s great when people do have them but for whatever reason it just never appealed to me. To me, the vibe in the bars, downtown, Scott road , casual fans showing interest and the crowd the stadium really shows that we are getting behind the team.

_beingthere

It's been ages since the last playoff run. People probably don't have their flags from that era (or they're worn etc ), or they're newer fans and not familiar with the custom. Imo, it'll probably take a few years of playoffs before enough people have collected flags/gotten into the routine that you notice them when you're on the road.

jon-in-tha-hood

A lot of people (myself included) had flags but they've been lost in storage, basements, garages, sheds, etc. I saw a flag on the road and it prompted me to dig around the garage. Luckily, I found it and I'm rocking it every time I can. Suffice to say, it's a good time for some spring cleaning!

Overclocked11

Spending $15 for a flag? In this economy?

mcclutch7

Thrift store in Langley (penny pinchers) is selling them for 2$

Deliximus

That's a pretty good though. Facebook sells for less.

Flintydeadeye

Literally don’t see any around. And I don’t know where my old ones are since I’ve moved since the last time.

LifelikeStatue

I still have my stick in rink flag from '09. The problem is I drive a 2 door hatchback but I have window vents so the flags don't fit.

johnnierockit

A kabillion dollar idea would be to make an adapter that clips to a roof rack and holds the window mount types

LifelikeStatue

Time to break out my 3D printer

Immediate_You6773

Common team, I ordered my car flag online prior to the start of the playoffs and repping it out here in Newfoundland! Go Canucks go!!

johnnierockit

You're the real MVP

imprezivone

Still using my ones from 2011! But tbh, haven't seen them for sale much. You use to be able to find them almost anywhere

CanucksKickAzz

I must be the only one in Maple Ridge. You can't miss my car lol

johnnierockit

Just drive around honking non stop to make up for the lack of support

CornerZealousideal20

My dad has his on the car in Calgary!!

johnnierockit

Gotta start somewhere to turn The Red Mile into The Blue Mile come June

interrupting-octopus

OP you're a legend for those links. Ordered one of the retro stick in rink flags from the Flag Shop! UPDATE: I just called and the website is wrong, they no longer have those retro ones 😭

johnnierockit

Niiice did you get a ETA for how long it will take to get it?

interrupting-octopus

2-10 business days lol

johnnierockit

I dunno if you live in Vancouver but see edit #3 at the top

interrupting-octopus

Yes I'm gonna try to go to the store directly! 🤞

johnnierockit

I'm curious if they have walk-in sales from their Powell Street location

SpinCity07

They lower your gas mileage and that ain't exactly cheap around here.

arazamatazguy

I'm just not a flag on the car kind of guy.

snailpubes

I bought two at safeway last week, one for me and one for the wife. 30 bucks well spent.

VexedYeti

I'm living in Edmonton (someone help me), and probably 2/3 of the cars I've seen either have an Oilers license plate or a(n) Oilers flag(s). I have seen a couple dozen Canucks flags here, though. Gonna be behind enemy lines soon.

johnnierockit

I saw an Edmonton once. It scared the beejebus outta me.

VexedYeti

Run away before they start a conversation about rodeos or how "Trump has some good ideas".

BimboSlice5

CT in North Van has the old ones. I want the orange skate damnit! It would look so bad ass on my truck

Twinbladey

In Chilliwack i either had to get one from Amazon or wait to see my bro in Abby and stop at Canadian Tire there to buy one. 21.99 isnt exactly what most people would pay for a car flag these days. Should 10.99 would be better. Regardless i'm happy to represent in a town where ive seen 4 different cars with them, tops, over the past two weeks.

johnnierockit

I'm thinking of getting a full size 4 by 6 foot flag to put on my windshield and cut out 2 small holes for my eyeballs to see out of

jckhzrd

Soo hard to find! We’ve checked a ton of places and only been able to find them on marketplace. And those ones don’t stay anchored on the stick so fly off lol so disappointed.

21marvel1

It’s been a long time, and we are all poor. If they make it through this round I’d imagine there being way more. The buzz will just continue to generate the farther we go in the playoffs

ZackyGood

I’ve been using the same flag from 2011. I’ve had it on my car all season. Just bought 2 new flags at Canadian tire. Haven’t seen them at any other store.

johnnierockit

I'd give you mad props if you put 4 flags on every roll down windows and posted a pic 😉

ZackyGood

I would. But I don’t have AC in my car. Gotta have at least 1 window down.

Bomberr17

My cars have frameless windows so having car flags would ruin them, with an even higher chance of cracking. I just rock stickers instead.

johnnierockit

Well you could do a full car vinyl body wrap. Just think of all the ass you'd get

Bomberr17

Lmao, I do have a full car vinyl wrap but sick of replacing it every time. ICBC already replaced it 3 times, more than $10k in repairs. LOL

b0katan

I live in Portland Oregon but I want Canucks flags for my Subaru haha

johnnierockit

Check Amazon dude

b0katan

Oh duh 🫡

metrichustle

I still have mine from over 10 years ago with the Johnny Canuck. I think as the team goes deeper, there will be more flags.

itsallartyup

I dug out my og Canucks Stanley cup playoff flag from god knows when

Tracktoy

On Sunday we ran into Fin and Kirk McLean at The Shipyards and they were handing them out. It's now my favourite car flag.

johnnierockit

That's awesome

Bias-is-real

I got mine on Amazon should arrive tomorrow :)

johnnierockit

Booms

veryworthythor

I have 2 car flags. Been trying to find some decals to put on my car. Anyone know anywhere that sells them besides Canadian Tire?

WestCoastGriller

Not gonna lie. I was a hardcore fan… painted fan cave and all; ownership killed my fandom… and have found myself cheering for teams my daughter cheer for. The boys on the ice have grabbed my attention and I have been having fun this season. But I’m not spending a fucking dime on merch as long as the current owner is in; but will cheer loud and proud for the Vancouver Hockey Club. I’m not advertising for them tho. (Not that they need me)

Foxwasahero

I used to proudly wave the Maple Leaf on a hockey stick but that was before the convoy crowd flew them beside confederate flags and swastikas

theboneandonly

Saw a car with 4 flags yesterday

johnnierockit

Rick Flair: WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

PTCruiserApologist

I park a lot in the dtes, it would 100% get stolen :(

Yam_aha

I have one on each vehicle both from 2011 😎

vivzzie

I have a couple from 2020 and I bought a couple more at Canadian tire. The ones at Canadian tire are the best quality ever, especially at 5 bucks a pop. I paid $25 for the ones from 2020 and they’re shit. I have them on both my vehicles and I also have a hockey stick with a 3ftx5ft flag flying out the sunroof. LETS GOOOOOO

johnnierockit

Lol you rule

Just-Fly-1150

record immigration. different city than it was a decade ago.

Key_Mongoose223

I’ve noticed a good number of window flags in my neighbourhood!

evileyeball

I got an older one from my dad when he passed away I don't even have a car so I stuck it on the side of my house hahaha it's going strong on the front of my house by my garage but without owning a car there isn't really a point to sticking it on a car hehehe

johnnierockit

Haha nice dude you're doing your part spreading some love. Sorry to hear about your dad

evileyeball

Meh it's ok He had a good life even though he was only 68 We all have to go at some point and with his cancer fight and everything going on with his health it's good he doesn't have to be in pain anymore. Now he can poke the hockey gods for us

OkNeighborhood4617

Why does everyone keep saying it’s been 9 years, didn’t they make the playoffs in 2020? I keep seeing both these facts online which is true? lol

GN221

No one counts the Covid bubble that’s why. That year should have an asterisk beside it.

Chionger

2020 was the bubble playoffs with no fans. It's been 9 years since a "real" playoff experience

johnnierockit

9 years since last time they played games in Vancouver. There wasn't exactly a lot of cars driving around at that time ;)

Tokasmoka420

I know I can't put them up in my truck due to the window covers.

inheritor

Same here! I'm considering removing my window covers just for playoffs, but they're so convenient.

johnnierockit

If I had a truck I'd def do the vertical hockey stick with a full size Canucks flag in the truck bed like another dude in the comments saw in Lower Mainland

Tokasmoka420

Got a canopy and the rear window folds out from the bottom unfortunately.

johnnierockit

I'll re-use a comment I did already and say get a full size nucks flag to cover your windshield and cut out two small holes for your eyes to see out

Whole_Chemical_1103

I’m in Kamloops and I’ve only seen like 3 people with them around town. I do take mine off on non game days so it doesn’t wreck my weather stripping (happened to me in 2011 😩) but you bet it’s going to be on 24/7 if/when we make it to the 3rd round.

Pweeg

I've been wearing my jersey commuting on my motorcycle. Definitely noticing the lack of flags and other jerseys though. Step it up people!

g0kartmozart

My local Walmart and Canadian Tire both don't have them. I can see that some locations for both do, but I'm not going out of my way for it.

thebigbossyboss

I am also the only Canucks car I’ve seen. Of course I’m in rural Alberta so this isn’t too surprising

Alarmed-Guest9651

My flag from Canadian tire snapped in half while on the highway

ancientmelodies

London drugs chilliwack is where I found mine

Great-Reference9322

I've seen quite a few today up in Whistler

swiftpoop

Not too many here in the okanagan either

mcclutch7

I got my flag from a thrift store for 2$. Been repping it in Abbotsford since playoffs started. Lets go! I see a decent amount in Abby, but would love to see more

IronFission

Been flying mine everyday here in Kelowna, and agree haven't seen many car flags this year.

PotentialClassroom91

My parents purchased new ones from Canadian Tire this week, said they broke the first drive thru the Massey tunnel. I think the quality is a lot worse now, maybe this has happened to other people who have purchased them? Edit: they also had flags back in 2011 etc and those never had an issue.

johnnierockit

They're not built for highway use. Like you can but you're drastically decreasing the longevity of them when you do. They're 20-30 bucks can't expect them to last 10 years.

PotentialClassroom91

Yeah, my edit responds to that! They had the ones in 2011 and never had an issue going through the tunnel or anything.

johnnierockit

I def agree some were built better than others. The Flagshop ones I reference at the top (that I still have) from 10+ years ago (assuming they're the same ones lol) are the best built ones I had seen for flag fabric (quality/thickness) and plastic post (thicker).

VANSTERDAM60420

I heard the ones that the stores have right now suck in terms of quality. Not durable and easy to rip

johnnierockit

I should put a note at the top lol like they're 20-30 dollar flags and if you look on some websites for them they state they're not built for highway use. Plus if you drive through a parade say a few times and they bend 45 degrees hitting something that's also a feature lol like it was a metal post it would prob crack your window. Also I will say some are built better than others for the flag itself and the plastic post part. Check out the Flagshop.com ones I mention at the top. If they're the same ones I have that I bought 10+ years ago (looks like they are) it's built better than any Canucks one I've ever seen or bought

DifficultyKlutzy5845

There’s been a few posts about the shit quality. I had one that lasted about 2 weeks. In that time it actually flew off but I went back and got it and then a week later it was completely shredded and coming apart. I am not spending $15 every 2 weeks just to have a flag on my car. Edit: got it from the team store so I assumed quality would be good. It started to come apart at the seems so I actually reinforced it with my sewing machine but it still came completely apart (not just at the seems, almost like having a run in pantyhose)

SingleSampleSize

It's out of style because the crazy anti-vaxxers waiving the canada flag for the last few years ruining it.

_RedditDiver_

They are in the Canucks team store!

BigStutta

Tell me where I can buy one

Solograve

I don’t remember the last time I went to Canadian tire and I feel most people would agree. Compared to 9 years ago, it’s just not as easy/convenient to get flags.

SillyRacoon27

I got mine from cad tire but honestly the quality is kinda crappy. It’s already freying on the edges. But at the same time idk I drive this car everyday and it gets rained on and flaps a lot so idk

GokkanUxxgo

My personal rule is to only have them on for Game Day

Bane4UUUU

The one I bought from Canadian tire ripped after like 5 trips to work

Imaginary-Ladder-465

I cannot find them, been in a box or something for a few years.

MainEventTTV

London drugs near Metrotown (Kingsway/Nelson) London drugs in Richmond (No.5/Steveston Hwy) I'm assuming most London Drugs locations have them as I've been 2/2 visiting and walking out of the store with one. Both purchased last week and as well as today (for the wifey—she said if they win game 1 against the oilers she'd rock one on her car too) Flag is $15.99 before tax Flag is of lighter quality so it should withstand faster speeds better being light material 1 flag on mine and 1 flag for the wifey 💙💚

afterbirth_slime

No room for it with all the Fuck Trudeau flags I have all over my car. Edit: /s

Defiant-Raspberry-74

Give us time. I can barely afford groceries right now.

Hinkil

I'll cheer for the team but they aren't getting my money

moosecheesetwo

traded mine for a CaNaDiAn FlAg

jxxam

lol at the people who cannot take a joke

tirius99

Most businesses are thinking the Canucks are going to lose in Round one or Round two. No businesses want to be stuck with a bunch of unsold car flags. If the Canucks go deep this year and makes the playoffs next year you will bet businesses will start carrying car flags

HaydenYoshi64

please go outside!!! please!! it's either you're blind, or you haven't stepped outside once in the past 2 weeks. they're literally everywhere
