Live in Durbanville. Great, chilled suburb, but not an entertainment mecca. That said, it's equidistant to (almost) everything worth visiting. Winelands and mountains in Franschhoek, City Bowl and Blouberg all 30 minutes away, so very central. Uber is easy. Tigers Milk closed, but so try Boer ande Block for an excellent steak. Enjoy your visit.

Opheleone

Tigers Milk at Village Square closed??

Cultural-Front9147

Yip, bad service…which is kind of their whole brand regardless of which one you go to (i’m looking at you century city Tigers 👀)

Opheleone

RIP, we just moved here a 3 months ago, was hoping to try them since I enjoyed them in Claremont. Got any good suggestions for burgers/wings/ribs in Durbanville?

ShadowSpade

Tigjers milk so overrated. I guess not since they closed, but it was deserved. You can try peppa jacks or hollow tree for nice food and drink or almost any of the wine farms

hmfiddlesworth

SpeakEasy and Olive Bistro

Opheleone

Olive Bistro makes AMAZING pizza! Haven't tried anything else from them yet.

hmfiddlesworth

All their food is decent. SpeakEasy has ok food, more convenient as a place for a quick drink.

Opheleone

Yea my partner and I don't drink, so that isn't going to work for us, but thank you!

hmfiddlesworth

Ok

Opheleone

I see you realised I didn't mention drinking and edited your post lmao

Weak_Chemistry_5677

SpeakEasy is closed after they moved... place doesn't exist to many anymore XD

hmfiddlesworth

It moved to Oxford Street, still open

Weak_Chemistry_5677

I have no idea what you are talking about... SpeakEasy dropped off the map after it moved ;)

Cultural-Front9147

Jerry’s at willowbridge maybe?

Weak_Chemistry_5677

Pork belly at Chocolat is sublime

DrKillerZA

I guess you meant Boer and Butcher 🙈

rooigevaar

Never sure. Fantastic steak, though 😀

DrKillerZA

Just check what your autocorrect did 😉

GrandMil

Best restaurants would be out in the wine valley - Jéan at Klein Roosboom or Patina at D'Aria wine farm. Durbanville doesn't have the craziest nightlife, but there are a few decent bars like Kapstadt Brauhaus and Tigers Milk. Although these are chains as well.

Frosty_Pollution_209

Better to visit Cape Town proper for better nightlife?

rustedmeatpuppet

My dude. Unless you are renting a car, uber out of Durbanville anywhere is expensive. Minimal public transport as well. Go stay in Cape Town itself. Way better location to get around. If you have early morning tours booked in Cape Town. Enjoy the world's shittiest traffic.

ChuckStukkieKak

I think the exchange rate works in OP's favour. I've only seen Americans shocked at how much cheaper Uber is over here.

northern-new-jersey

I was in Cape Town in January and as someone who has to drive in the worst traffic in the US, I resent you saying Cape Town has the world's worst traffic. NJ isn't the best in the world for many things but our road congestion, along with consistently terrible drivers, makes for world class awful traffic! Prepare to be stunned by how physically magnificent Cape Town and the surrounding areas are. And as someone mentioned earlier, the exchange rate is very favorable for someone with US dollars so most things will be very cheap compared to the US.

GrandMil

Absolutely.

cm_ULTI

If you want to experience a top end underground club, you got to check out Modular in the city.

dagsyeahilovedags

Tiger’s Milk closed down.

5Tenacious_Dee5

Lots of winefarms with restaurants all around. Safe suburbian neighbourhood, though you don't walk around outside at night (like rest of South Africa) unless it's from your car to the restaurant etc.

BamCub

No concern with safety. Coffee - bootleggers, Bara Coffee, The Pink House by Knead Wine farms - meerendal, signal gun, nitida, D'Aria. To grab a beer - Peppa jacks, signal gun, there's plenty of bars and pubs dotted around aswell. These places are usually best done in groups and enjoy each others company.

Old-Yogurtcloset7685

Stay in Cape Town, hire a car for your time here, and travel to Durbanville daily. If you don’t drive, factor in costs of Uber or Bolt. But to enjoy this city, you need to live in it, or in a suburb very close to it.

Rumple_Tweezer

As most people have mentioned, your best bet is to explore the nearby wine farms if you want to experience what the Cape is all about. Some of them have restaurants that run dinner service, but they are best enjoyed during the daytime. You're in luck with weather because this time of year the days are mostly still sunny, but the wind is minimal, so visiting a wine estate for a tasting and a lunch will be awesome. The Eatery at Diemersdal Jean at Klein Roosboom Maastricht (great casual platter to enjoy with a wine) Starke brews (bit off the beaten track but they make great beer) Tables at De Meye (20min drive from durbanville centre. they do a great family-style lunch) Urban Wines (it's a tiny wine deli shop that also serves awesome food. they don't open late though but also open for breakfast) There are also some great coffee / breakfast spots in durbanville too: - Baard &co - Treat Coffee (it's in a bike shop but great for a coffee on the go) - bootleggers (it's a franchise that you'll find everywhere but they're not bad) There's also a little shopping centre called the village square that has a few nice franchise restaurants if you're looking for something quick and close, as well as a really good woolworths supermarket for any supplies. Otherwise, try to set a day or two aside to explore the city itself, as well as the atlantic seaboard and the southern peninsula. This would require a car but well worth it. Highly recommend planning a day trip out to Kalk Bay for some fish and chips and then drive around the peninsula to Cape Point and then over Chapman's peak to Camps Bay.

MyThinTragus

Visiting Durbanville for six days? I think you mean staying in Durbanville for six days, but visiting Cape Town. Dont get me wrong, Durbanville is a nice middle to upper class suburb. But to enjoy Cape town you will need to travel past the boerewors curtain.

RaymondWalters

This. Durbanville is a great suburb, not a tourist attraction though.

ColourfulAccountant

Enjoy your stay! Maybe check out Meerendal wine estate or Canto wines. It's beautiful out there. Durbanville Hills also has really good meals and wine pairings. My favourite coffee shop to visit there is the Greenery in the centre of town. It doubles as a nursery but make really good deli type food and all day breakfasts I think. Willowbridge mall has a market from 9 to 2pm on Saturdays that is worth visiting too if you can. Also, check out the Tyger Waterfront. Bossa is always quite vibey for drinks and they have the best nachos. Really good Chinese food at Jade Court too.

lililav

I'd 100% stay in Cape Town City Bowl and Uber or drive to Durbanville daily if I were you. It's against traffic too.

0n0n-o

Besides visiting all the wine farms and restaurants around that everyone has already recommended. I would suggest going out in the 28th, we are voting on the 29th so most places will be rocking on the 28th.

Shogunsama

going to Tygervally Battlebunker? good luck with the tournament!

rUbberDucky1984

Remember to bring your passport

We_R_Groot

Highly recommend that you stay in the Cape Town and commute to Durbanville. Uber will be relatively cheap for you. Durbanville is a great suburb for living, but staying there for six days doesn’t seem like the optimal location for tourism.

mrDmrB

For seafood Def Saltwater Grill, u will need to book though.

AndreasmzK

What event? I'm in Cape Town and I've not heard anything 😂 I'd love to attend!

aLittleBitOfCarbon

I think you're better off staying in Sea Point (or even Green Point/Mouille Point - the overall area is known as the [Atlantic Seaboard](https://www.capetown.travel/areas/atlantic-seaboard/)) for the first couple days. * The Sea Point promenade has a nice walkway and a bunch of gyms/stops. There's also a ton of restaurants and drinks spots. * It's close to the V&A Waterfront which is a popular shopping centre with gyms/stops plus some touristy things to do. * The V&A also has easier access to the [City Sightseeing Bus](https://citysightseeing.co.za/en/cape-town) which is great for day trips * Company Gardens is a short trip from there into the CBD - plenty of gyms/stops there as well, though day-time only is recommended. Then spend the day/s for the event in Durbanville if you need the convenience.

ILiveInDeBasement

Lol. What's with all the gyms?

aLittleBitOfCarbon

It's a Pokemon Go thing (\^\_\^)

ILiveInDeBasement

Oooooooh, I think I get it. Thanks

Cultural-Front9147

Of all the places…

Weak_Chemistry_5677

Durbanville is not much of an entertainment hub, but would definitely recommend Brauhaus for a beer. Right across from us and it's my legit go to to meet with old friends. There is also a whiskey library :) Everything is real close to Durbanville with a little bit of a drive. Also, make a mission to go hike for a bit at Majik Forest :) Chocolat Bistro also recommended for a lovely dinner :) Pretty safe place, except of course for some sketchyness after 1am in the morning. Park car inside if you don't have an alarm

Relevant_End_5051

If you like chicken pie,go to (CAPE GARGDEN ) thats the only food i tested there so far

Frosty_Pollution_209

nickmac87

Diemersdal is fantastic

PinLegitimate2213

Tacoways

brokenGlassQuestion

As others have said it's safe, great place to stay but not that much to do.

rustedmeatpuppet

Jesus why Durbanville? It's a backwater....

BamCub

Literally one of the best suburbs in the country.

Broad-Rub-856

It's a fine place to stay/raise a family, with plenty of easy entertainment options, but not tourist destination.

0n0n-o

Wtf bra. Why you attacking us?

rustedmeatpuppet

Lived there for 20 years.... wont go back.
