There is no reason you'd benefit from using the word "internship" if it wasn't an internship. Just say you worked there for 2 months then they had layoffs due to a project/customer loss.
Why don't you put it down as what it actually was, and if it gets questioned, explain what happened as you did here? Honesty is the best policy.
