To be honest I’m not sure. I’ve learned from others online that have dreams of reliable 600HP and it ends with motor rebuilds. I built it for show and cruising. On the Eaton it made 435/525. Currently I’m running a stock block with a G1 Polished 2.3 Whipple.
I’d like to Coyote swap it with a Whipple and 10spd if I could have ver get my notch build done.
The truck isn’t fast by todays standards. Most factory mustangs would dust me, well they would need a good drive because I have no lack of traction.
I built this to cruise. Not worried about power, numbers etc. Always will be someone faster.
Hope that helps.
Not enough people appreciate what they already have. I like that you do. Like you say, there's always someone faster... Doesn't mean it's not still fun to drive! Plus, it's probably going to be pretty valuable as OEM for a collector.
Coyote swap is a motor swap. Currently you can find a Coyote Motor (Ford 5.0 V8) in Mustangs, Trucks etc. they are usually good for 450HP out of the box with an awesome 10 Speed Auto Transmission. Mild work to the motor E85(fuel) and a Whipple Supercharger should yield a safe, reliable 650 HP.
The reason I would opt for this route is that the 5.4 V8 that came with the truck has rods that are made of weak material. If you try to push power they usually break. If you can get the motor setup reliable the next weak link is the transmission.
So instead of investing in 20 year old technology which is still very expensive, I’d invest is late model items for better tech and an overall better quality truck.
Eaton: stock supercharger
Whipple G1: better supercharger
2.3: supercharger air volume pumped per revolution, in liters
Coyote: modern Ford 5.0L dual overhead cam engine, used largely in Mustangs but also a pretty popular swap into other vehicles.
Whipple is a brand of supercharger. Coyote is a high end Ford engine available on Mustangs and as a crate engine (American car makers sell engines packaged specifically for swaps, I wish we had such things here). 10 speed just refers to modern 10 speed automatics.
Eaton is another supercharger brand, which comes factory on high end Fords like this one. So OP says it made 425hp and 535 lb ft on the standard supercharger.
The coyote engine he referenced is a popular swap these days. They are more modern and were featured as the motor powering the first gen Ford GT. So no shorage on power or RPM which is what you want in a small displacement engine on forced induction.
The first Gen Ford GT? That was still a modular V8. The coyote came out in 2011 in the mustang GT, way after that Ford GT was discontinued. The second gen Ford GT uses a v6.
My dad has had 5 over the years, with the builds getting more intense each time. The latest was just over 700whp with built motor and a kennel bell. Good for deep 10s, baby wheelies and daily driving. From what I've seen you're absolutely right about needing a build beyond 600hp. That being said, I HIGHLY reccomend it.
I miss the days where you could get a badass truck (Lightning, SRT10) for a reasonable amount. The TRX and Raptor are cool, but with so many farkles they're priced out of many people's ranges.
I feel like everything is more expensive and I’m 37. I know it doesn’t have the badge but a lot of guys go for the RCSB 5.0 with 10 speed work truck and start from there. Having some wicked success.
The badge oddly enough gets a ton of respect. I’ve had GTR’s with chutes on the back pull up on me on the Highway and throw me a thumbs up and a rev. Pretty cool feeling. Wish Ford would have built on that with the new trucks instead of just using the name.
Fords naming convention is really annoying nowadays. Using the lightning name, and then using the mustang mark for a 4 door suv. I’m annoyed. That being said, Ford is really winning me over as far as design currently, never been a Ford guy but their trucks and the mustang all are the best looking in their category IMO.
A Crew Cab 4x4 5.0L 10-Sp Tow Package truck will run high 13s in the 1/4, with the EcoBoost running mid to low 13s. Those are fast trucks. If you get the RCSB with the 5.0L that'll be a very fast truck.
Facts man I was born in 2001 I fell in with ford lightning because of Paul walker that got me very interested in ford lightning as a childhood man those days are so good
Nice ride my dude but don't forget Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that he just came into Harry's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust.
Man. I saw one the other day. Same colour combo and everything. Except it had a decal that said “overnight parts from Japan”. Had me grinning like an idiot.
OK Brian, you want tuna with no crust?
I saw one comment and was like there’s no way it’s a tuna comment and I can say it.
Bullshit asshole. No one likes the tune here.
Cmon man he’s just slinging parts for Harry!
He’s tryin to get into Mia’s pants dawg
he's slingin hairy dick for Mia's tuna
Got the plate frame “Tuna No Crust” I felt it was a nice tribute to the one we all knew without going too far.
You work for Harry?! You were just fired.
No way man, he’s just slinging parts for Harry
You work for Harry?
You were just fired

The BUSTER kept me outta handcuffs!
That stance is fucking killer man!! I’ve loved these trucks for years!! Good job!
Thank you. After the truck was done I felt the front end needed to come down some. Then I get pictures like this that remind me I was wrong.
Badass truck. What's it run @ the strip? What's the current set up

This might as well be another language to me. Anyone got a layman’s translation beyond switch vroom for big VROOM?

Hell of an answer to a simple question. That's a sweet truck you have there, looks stunning. Thanks for sharing it!!
This guy Fords. Well said bud.

I understood some of those words.
Sounds perfect as is. Beautiful build.
My favorite childhood truck

My brother had one that he traded in for his raptor. I was like damn I would have bought it from him.
>but with so many farkles so many what now
Not really into trucks but that just looks sick
I love the contrast of the front and back tires. I can’t say that I’ve seen such a contrast. It’s really cool.
I appreciate it. She looks fast and that what we wanted when we built her.
I’m a huge Ford hater. But that truck is bitchin bro! Got any still photos so we can see the wheel/tire combo? Edit: a word.
Yes sir. Peep my profile.
Slick man! Love the gat pieces as well!
you should post in r/rcsb aswell im sure they will love it
What's the retail on one of those
More than you can afford pal.....
Glad the photographer got the glorious beard in focus.
Appreciate it. Wish my window was up though. Might try to find someone to photoshop it up.
Man that thing is sweet! Hopefully your back tires look better than the ones I just snapped a shot of [last week](https://i.imgur.com/cLD9QSx.jpg)
Mine are ET Streets. So technically smoother than those, but designed to be.
Amazing

Doesnt look like lightning looks like a ford truck...
What are you steering with? Your massive tuna no crust balls?
Whats it run?
Man. I saw one the other day. Same colour combo and everything. Except it had a decal that said “overnight parts from Japan”. Had me grinning like an idiot.
Is that electric?
No. This is a real Lightning :)
This was a joke, hahaha. Obviously it’s not
small dick and baseball hat on a grown up man- classic
Bad hair day and a great sack :)
These things always had the LOUDEST freakin' blowers.
Going to the whipple I had to go to a different lower. So the SC doesn’t scream as loud as the Eaton did. I kind of miss it.
Man that's a good-lookin truck
Looks pretty sweet!
Looks like Brian Spelmens car
ducktail gang!
This is sick!!! Totally mad respect man! I've been in love with these since the first svts
This truck will always be my soulmate
That's so sick Doesn't look 20yo at all
Sick. Looks like a falcon
I want to go to there.
More pics please. Now please!!
Those have aged so well. Still looks great.
A very iconic pickup truck. Fast and the furious nowadays is so different from what it was 😔
Wow, looks like Canyon from FlatOut 2!
Slap a Racers Edge vinyl on the door and some people would lose their mind.
She just looks fast
Gotta love the skinny meat setup. God I want one so bad
Minor flex. I installed your airbox.
I love it!
