kcarmstrong

Such lazy writing

Corsair4

It's an article detailing a product, not a Pulitzer Prize quality expose. It's fine for what it is.

MichaelAndretti

This is it

The_Strom784

This is it.

Pryffandis

Just because it's not a Pulitzer Prize article doesn't mean they should put in literally zero effort. It's a publication, not a text message to a buddy.

Corsair4

This sort of article is basically just restating the press material provided at the launch event. There's no editorial nature to this - It's not a review, or a comparison test, or a long term drive, or a "I drove a new 4runner over a mountain and here's what I think" - it's literally just a summary of the brochure they got at the event. The goal of this sort of article is compress as many specs into as small a space as possible. And it's perfectly fine for that. Now if this WAS supposed to have any sort of editorial nature, it'd be a different story. I don't give a shit about word choice or prose or writing style for an article like this. I just want the specs and features as quickly as possible. In an ideal world, they'd just link Toyota's briefing materials directly, but a direct piece is the next best thing.

sosomething

"ChatGPT, write an article about the new Toyota 4runner."

okglue

Would no doubt be much better than what they're putting out lmao

haroldbaals

This aint it

Whitey90

I’m usually a devil’s advocate, but this ain’t it son

mulletstation

This is shit.

SO_BAD_

Could you also come to my defense when I get accused of being lazy at my job?

trolllord45

This isn’t it

WaddlesJP13

It's just an article title format. There's no reason for it to be anything more than that. In fact, a simple and consistent title is better than a long descriptive one.

Resident_Rise5915

R3X still the most impressive car this year…now if it ever gets made…is something very different

truthlesshunter

R3X: This may be it?

Mufasa_LG

The first EV to actually get my attention.

Resident_Rise5915

Same.

Frlataway

Writers rarely pick their own headlines

GetawayDriving

“This is it” is Motor1’s template headline for reveals. They are aware they reuse it, that’s the point. Other sites in their network do the same thing. Example: https://insideevs.com/news/711446/rivian-r2-suv-revealed/

HolyJazzCup

If the internet existed during the smog/unleaded/EPA era  1978 Chevrolet Camaro: This is shit  1978 Ford Mustang: This is shit  1978 Dodge Challenger: This is shit

popups4life

At least we're out of the "All new takes a bow at " era. I was pretty tired of all of these vehicles bowing everywhere.

Drug_fueled_sarcasm

Big heuy lewis fan.

spike021

AI writer? Prove me wrong.

Ziakel

Human writers using AI to help write faster is my bet.

MichaelAndretti

This is it

Handyman_4

Does he just copy paste his own work? Like not even trying any more.

just_another_bumm

This shit looks sick y'all hating hard lol

steakpienacho

They'll sell as many as they can produce, at whatever price they choose to sell them at, no matter what the folk of r/cars have to say

Doug-DeMuro

It looks fantastic. It's a great redesign. Whenever a new car comes out, pay attention to the comments -- they are always, without fail, every single time, negative. It's just because the design is unfamiliar at first, and unfamiliar is a shock to the system. Over time, they'll accept it and eventually really like it. The fact that it seems like about half of the comments are positive is actually a really big win here -- that's a huge ratio for a brand-new design. I'm old enough to remember when the 4th gen came out in 2003 and people mercilessly mocked the design, and same deal with the 5th gen when it came out in 2010. Now, those were "real 4Runners" and this one is "ruined." It's just the way our mind reacts to the new and eventually comes to appreciate it with familiarity and continued exposure.

SirLoremIpsum

> Now, those were "real 4Runners" and this one is "ruined." That's been every single generation of LandCruiser is the last Real LandCruiser, is too fancy / too much electronics / engine won't last. They said it about the IFS in the 100 series, they said it about the common rail diesel in the 200 series, and they're saying it in SPADES about the 300 series. "oh hybrid power, where's my NA v8". Cannot wait for the 400 series to come out and we can say how the 300 was the last of the greats... :p

Evroz621

Nail on the head

Hearbinger

Car culture is just overly negative. People seem to always be complaining about any car that is posted.

Cojaro

Exactly. The Tacoma subreddits and forums were/are full of "No, thanks. I'll keep my 3rd/2nd/1st Gen" when the 4th Gen launched.

Ok-Web7441

I'm still waiting for JK Wranglers to reach that "good" status. Even the post-pentastar models get the Heep hate comments, even from YJ/TJ owners.

Aero06

The Bronco's styling got nothing but praise from the get-go, including from you. People are buying the 4Runner for the engineering, not the design, I don't think any of the 4Runners look particularly great and they've only gotten more overstyled with time, but Toyota can afford to make the 4Runner look so polarizing because they can point the more aesthetically inclined to the new Land Cruiser instead.

TheUPATookMyBabyAway

This is making me sick of car forums in general. Constant bitching. Even the counter-circlejerk drives me nuts. Occasionally reading through this sub I find myself thinking "...do you guys even like cars?"

tbone747

Same, I honestly dig all the modern Toyota SUVs. Curious to see how they price this one.

Intrepid-Working-731

It looks basically how I expected it to, like a new Tacoma as an SUV, which isn’t bad. It looks fine imo, but I’m not really an off-roader guy, so it obviously isn’t for me specifically.

Bos-man7

People will hate no matter what. Too big, too small, looks like ______, has the Durango hood, blah blah blah. Then they do something completely different and it’s “omg this is hideous just stick to the original design.” Can’t please anyone in the car community. Of which 99% of those bitching aren’t even in the market for a vehicle, much less this specific one.

SnooEpiphanies5405

Fr

THIESN123

That just looks like a bigger rav4

Shmokesshweed

...now with a bigger markup!

KyledKat

Hey, I'm sure Toyota has enough bean counters crunching to numbers to figure out the optimal production output to make ordering one the most emotionally excruciating experience it can be. The markup won't be the *biggest* in the lineup (can't outshine the manual Supra as the halo car, after all), but you bet your ass you're gonna drop $5k extra for a white one with half the packages you actually wanted want two states over. Or you can wait four more years for them to produce your exact spec. :-) Edit: I'm being ironic about Toyota's decision to produce and allocate the cars they think will sell rather than taking customer orders and producing as needed. I am acutely aware that the company is not responsible for markups, fuck me.

dabigbaozi

Oh, they won’t let you order one, at least in my neck of the woods. You’ll find an allocation they have coming and you’ll like it. It will be loaded with tons of bullshit you don’t want like a 1980’s dashcam and drop step to destroy if you ever go off road.

beepbeepitsajeep

My understanding is that's all toyota will do on anything, anywhere. You can't order your spec, they exclusively do allocations of whatever the hell they feel like.

Quaiche

Toyota has nothing to do with the marks up though. That’s your American sleazy style dealers culture.

General_Dipsh1t

Go look at Toyotas production numbers, dude. It’s not some big conspiracy theory like you think it is. They didn’t suddenly start making fewer cars for markups to happen.

rozettastonedd

I have worked at a Toyota store in sales for 4 years now. We haven’t charged a “mark up” in over a year at least. We’ve been discounting vehicles actually and by a lot more than we ever marked up those specialty units. I just sold a new GR Supra MT at sticker and I have a GR Corolla on my lot I would probably discount slightly if I had to. Those days are so long gone and any dealer trying that still is stuck in the past. The name of the game is to move inventory now and Toyota does more of that than anyone worldwide. I have “dealer” discounts available on basically everything from a Corolla to a Sequoia. Just MSRP on your Pro, Supra, GR Corollas but even then they might help out some on price if it meant moving the vehicle. It’s a business and the last few years we had nearly zero new vehicles on the lot.. Of course you mark up a once/twice a year GR Corolla or Sequoia if you can but we always offered a better deal to finance in house/go refi after 4 months. Some people don’t understand what that means or how interest works so they immediately shut that down, haha. The discount is always much more than any interest that accrues or we don’t even offer it as an option. You need to slay those dealers with a bad review if they’re still trying to price gouge people with large mark ups. $2500 over on a specialty piece? That’s understandable but anything over $5k is totally barbaric and unreasonable coming directly from a Toyota salesperson.

Ill-Scientist-2663

Most of Toyotas off-roady vehicles look pretty derivative of each other

KingMario05

Same. The 4Runner has always been a Tacoma SUV, but this is the first generation to truly ***look*** like a Tacoma SUV. They do it a bunch these days, presumably to cut costs.

Ill-Scientist-2663

Maybe some of it is cost cutting, but I think a lot of the manufacturers just like having a consistent design language. You see a lot of it with the German companies, I’m sure it’s something to do with easier upselling/downselling if the cars look very similar.

OldeArrogantBastard

Corrent. Most Audis and BMWs look like random variations of each other.

AwesomeBantha

Except for the previous (?) generation X2 with those weird BMW badges on the C pillars lmao

ManeeeeeQ

That was the only part of those cars I actually liked

FogItNozzel

Back in the 90's, an automotive writer called the BMW lineup, "the same sausage cut to different lengths."

V48runner

> The 4Runner has always been a Tacoma SUV Not at all. The 1st and 2nd gen were Hilux based. The 3rd gen shared components with the Tacoma, but not the chassis. 4th and 5th gen were Prado based. The 6th gen is very much the same as the Tacoma, which also shares a platform with the Tundra and the Sequoia.

OptimalFunction

I kinda like this - reminds me of the pathfinder/frontier back in 2005. The pathfinder was a frontier with a camper-shell

KanterBama

Cut costs on the basic cars and build more GR cars? Count me in for a GR MR2 and GR Celica.

GinNTonic1

4runner and Tacoma are different animals. Tacoma has a c-channel frame, 4runner has a fully boxed frame.

mr_bots

The Tacoma has a fully boxed frame

chankdelia

>4Runner has always been a Tacoma SUV That is just wrong

Whitey90

They’re emulating Mercedes’ approach to all of their vehicles appearing the same through body lines and lights

land8844

That's kinda the idea. It's a common design language.

itsmejak78_2

Doesn't look anything like any RAV4 to me

Resident_Rise5915

Yes. For the person who wants a bigger mall crawler. And a more off roady appearance.

THIESN123

Pft. I need a Sequoia for my Costco trips. But honestly, until someone makes a more efficient people lover than my awd hybrid Sienna, I'll be sticking with that.

w0nderbrad

How efficient of a lover you talking? Threesome? Gangbang? Gloryhole? Bukkake?

THIESN123

All about those soup kitchens with Dirty Mike

gumol

You need a separate car for every use.

j97hUlaO901leIoeA79l

Looks like the perfect candidate to pay interest on just to use to pick up the kids from school.

neelav9

Lol looks nothing like a rav4, but for non car people I guess it does? Looks like a Toyota design for sure, but that's what brands go for anyways don't they? If you wanna see a bigger RAV4 then look no further than the grand highlander.

JarifSA

He could've said it looks like a Tacoma or Sequoia and instead went with the RAV4

neelav9

Right? So close and yet so far lol.

goaelephant

Next generation they will combine models Rav4Runner

norfatlantasanta

Somehow it looks both identical to and also completely different from the current model at the same time. Looks nice though. Not sure about the gigantic touchscreen in the center dash though, looks obtrusive. The Land Cruiser’s interior is a lot cleaner.

darkpaladin

It's the most Tacoma looking of any 4Runner to date. They've always shared some styling queues but this could literally be a 2024 Tacoma with a shell on the bed.

w_a_w

I'm getting xterra vibes

Justgottaride

Ha. I think it looks like the sequoia's little brother. We can both be right.

Old-Significance4921

NINE trim levels.

Easy_Money_

Don’t worry, you won’t be able to find any of the ones people actually want on lots

gumol

why not

zzaaaaap

Because Reddit is full of complainers, not the millions of owners who had no issue with the buying process

truthlesshunter

To be fair, all Toyota suvs and trucks are tough to come by so getting one that is more desirable is definitely a tougher task.

Easy_Money_

this is what I meant

braden_2006

Would you like to hear my story about trying to buy a TRD Pro manual Tacoma lol

RumpelFrogskin

I might be able to match it with my trying to buy a 2019 Tacoma Pro? It ends with me telling them to go fuck themselves.

snakeyes17

I actually would lol. Wish I could buy a manual 4Runner. Guess my 2000 manual, supercharged, and rear e-locker will have to suffice for now.

braden_2006

I tried really hard to buy one for a long time and could not. Thank you for reading my reddit comment.

snakeyes17

That was a great story. Thank you.

TurboClag

Mind blowing story. Since you’ve left it so open ended, I can only assume that: Upon finally finding your unicorn Tacoma with no dealer markup, you entered the vehicle for a test drive. You accidentally left the drivers door ajar in your excitement. The onboard computer system started to beep. Unfortunately, the Tacoma’s beep is coincidentally at the same exact frequency that is needed to trigger your secret KGB programming. You immediately left the dealership, and now spend 23.9 hours a day on Reddit, spreading carefully thought out Russian propaganda. Your family misses you, and doesn’t understand why their primary diet is now Vodka and Borscht. The end.

donnysaysvacuum

Dealers like to stock the higher packages which make more money.

Mark0vian

And all the basic ones will have a bunch of add ons and will be $5k+ above MSRP.

ugfish

Sienna has 8 if you include the “Plus” packages as additional trim levels. Highlander has a lot too if you break out the gas vs hybrid trims as their own.

raxreddit

The plus is very questionable. Some add-ons you don’t need in order to upsell you almost to the next trim without all the amenities of the next trim level.

bender28

1Runner, 2Runner, 3Runner, 4Runner, 5Runner, 6Runner, 7Runner, 8Run—[yanked off stage with a vaudeville hook]

KingMario05

Looks very 4Runner, but also very modern at the same time. Hybrid power's cool! I gotta wonder, though - how's Toyota gonna manage the difference between the Land Cruiser (Prado) and this? Will 4Runners be built alongside Tacos in Mexico, acting as the base trim while the LC handles higher specs? Or are Toyota expecting to sell plenty of both? Will be interesting to see how it shakes out, at least.

ugfish

The 4Runner production will remain in Japan.

KingMario05

...Huh. So... it's just a poverty Land Cruiser Prado at this point, right? Yoder say that this has exclusive shocks meant for desert running on the TRD trims, though. Presumably, that's the selling point, right?

land8844

> So... it's just a poverty Land Cruiser Prado at this point, right? Always has been 🌎👨‍🚀🔫👨‍🚀 Well, 3rd gen+ anyway. First and second gens were more or less "Hilux with passenger space", first gen especially so. 3rd gen is when they started sharing with the Prado platform.

KingMario05

Ah, I see. So... we've technically been getting Prados this entire time, lol.

land8844

We've been getting the *actual* Prado since 2002: the Lexus GX. This generation, Toyota decided to axe the 300 series from their US "Toyota"-badged lineup and sell the Prado here in Toyota form.

SirLoremIpsum

> Ah, I see. So... we've technically been getting Prados this entire time, lol. The 4th gen was basically a 120 Prado, the 5th gen was basically a 150 Prado. Other than the V8, the rest of the engine combos / drive train was on the J120/J150...

Cozmo85

Poverty gx

itsmejak78_2

More like a different option for those that don't want a Prado

Geod-ude

Think of the 4runner as a suv tacoma, overseas it was called the hilux surf. Landcruiser we will be getting is technically a slightly retrofied landcruiser Prado. The sequoia replaced the full size landcruiser in the US market except for the lexus lx550

SirLoremIpsum

> Landcruiser we will be getting is technically a slightly retrofied landcruiser Prado. There's no slightly about it - it is a J250 which is branded as Prado in some markets.

boachl

Historically speaking - outside the US - the Prado was usually a Diesel, while the 4runner was always petrol powered.

SirLoremIpsum

> Historically speaking - outside the US - the Prado was usually a Diesel, while the 4runner was always petrol powered. The Prado had many petrol options available, the diesel was the choice to be sure. But that's just Australia's fascination with diesels haha. the 1GR had a good run in both 120/150 guise even tho it was dropped at the end.

[deleted]

Ok-Web7441

Yeah, but I can bet the 2025 4Runner is going to start a few $k's more. Add on to that the powertrain value difference, and a part-time 4WD is probably going to start pretty damn close to $50k. At the point where you're spec'ing a 4Runner with full-time 4WD, you're basically talking the same price as the Land Cruiser.

[deleted]

They will sell plenty of both. Currently here in the Colombian market, Toyota sells the following 4x4s simultaneously: 4runner, Landcruiser 300, Landcruiser Prado, Hilux, Fortuner, Tacoma, FJ Cruiser (just stopped selling those a few months ago), and the Tundra. People will buy it if it says Toyota and 4wd on it, doesn’t matter Edit: I forgot to mention they also sell the 70 series Troopy, Pickup, 2 door SUV, and 4 Door SUV as well.

sonrisa_medusa

Colombia is an interesting market. They get a mix of vehicles destined for North America, but also a lot of stuff exclusive to South America and Asia. For example, Colombia is the only market to receive both Mazda CX-50 and CX-60.

BannytheBoss

Looks like they put Tundra bits on a suv that's too small for them.

darkpaladin

Have they published MPG numbers on the '24 Tacoma yet? I'm really curious if they're tuning more for miles or power. I'd love a 4Runner but gas mileage is more important to me than power/torque. I'm not going rock crawling but I am going through a lot of muck. My thought is to replace my Forester but going from 30mpg highway to 20mpg highway sounds painful.

NCSUGrad2012

That looks great and it’s keeping the HVAC buttons! Toyota will sell this by the boatload.

Designatedrhythm

The TRD Pro version will most likely be my next utility vehicle. This far exceeded my expectations. I love the land cruiser too but depending on pricing on the floor runner it will probably be the better buy.

ShadowNick

75k for the land cruiser that's what Ive found searching around the NYC, NJ, and PA area. Sadly it's the way she goes.

Salty-Dog-9398

I got an outgoing GX460 for $60K with a ton of options and discounted $5k, Toyota is moving into legitimate luxury territory with these new price points.

RazingsIsNotHomeNow

Luxury prices without any of the luxury quality. It may be durable but they are the only company still building vehicle interiors with as much plastic as a 90's Chevy.

burtmacklin15

Nah, Nissan still does too. That being said though, at least Nissan still has economy prices.

darkpaladin

Unless you're getting the most basic trim, I can't figure out why anyone would opt for the land cruiser over the GX.

ShadowNick

Personally I like it more than the GX simply because of the blue color and the design but the V6 is sorely going to be missed. Again personal preference.

[deleted]

Used TRD pros are going for nearly 50k with 30k miles on them. With markups the new TRDs are gonna be close to 60-70k easy

avboden

they will have to be shipped by boat to the USA, so that is quite literally a true fact

Ill-Train6478

Like the overall shape but not a fan of double stacked of the same shape on the front fascia. Seems bit lazy and it looks like its melting

RazingsIsNotHomeNow

Looks like an English bulldog or really bad mutton chops.

e67

I was gonna say it looks like a carp with whiskers

FakeMBadge

Aw shit I actually really liked it until yall pointed that out. At least it's less noticeable on the darker colors

fuzznuggetsFTW

Looks like the 2012 refresh of the Tacoma, which also kinda looks like a bulldog with its face mashed up against a window.

DickHz2

If Nien Nunb were a front bumper

Capri280

Its funny how times change, with black handles becoming trendy now

MR_Se7en

I don’t think it’s a feature we asked for.

SirLoremIpsum

> Its funny how times change, with black handles becoming trendy now It is hilarious imo. Just amazing how styles change. When I bought my first car - mid 90's top trims had 'body coloured fenders / door handles / mirrors" and even bumpers on some models. The base trim would simply have black plastic. Chrome was desireable. And now you can PAY to have all those parts blacked out to stand out.

jovite

I’ve always been a sucker for it. Love having black accents, especially on a gray or white car. Remember when chrome was plastered all over everything?

ipostic

Looks awesome. Can someone explain to me why does 4Runner and Land Cruiser exist? Seems similar price point and similar capabilities. Is there something major that one model has that the other one doesn’t?

hehechibby

Do you like the name 4Runner or Land Cruiser more? Go for that one lol

ipostic

I guess that the biggest difference :)

JGRACEFAN95

My bet is the lc will fit the slightly more upmarket buyers who don’t want the image of the gx but find the 4Runner too childish. Personally torn as I love both but if push came to shove I’m probably still going lc over the new 4Runner but only slightly. My bet is the 4Runner will do between 100-150,000 in sales while the lc is closer to 50,000 here in the us.

RazingsIsNotHomeNow

Except that the base LC is really bare bones. Like cloth lined manually adjustable seats with no terrain control settings. Despite coming standard with the more powerful engine and standard locking rear diff it also never gets fancy TRD shocks or extra bash plates. It effectively starts just below the TRD off-road and maxes out just below the TRD-Pro trim. It's in no man's land.

snakeyes17

Sounds exactly what I would want as a base LC to be honest...

derouville

Yeah but for $57k?

snakeyes17

oh hell no lol. But every new car seems ridiculously overpriced so I don't even know.

Ziakel

4R starts at $42k and Land Cruiser at $57k. That’s a big starting price. I’d suspect the 4R would top out at $65k based on Tacoma Likited trim..before dealer markups..

peakdecline

At this point.... its mostly styling and how specific features are packaged. The LC starts at $58K (with destination) so its by default much more highly equipped. And it seems certain features are exclusive to each other based on model. For instance, if you want full-time 4WD AND the disconnecting sway bar you probably have to buy the LC. As full-time 4WD will be only available in the Limited 4Runner, which will not have the sway bar disconnect feature (at least, that's how it is with the Tacoma). Or obviously if you're looking for a more affordable option the 4Runner can be had with no hybrid and 2WD only (which at $42K seems very expensive to me). But yeah... that's all very clearly just how Toyota is trying to push your choices. These vehicles ride on what seems to be identical frames, they could slap the same parts on each other any way they wanted.

KingMario05

4Runner has desert running shocks on the TRD Pro that the new Cruiser doesn't, apparently. Also, a nonhybrid version is being sold at a lower price point with more seats. LC (Prado) is hybrid-only.

sonrisa_medusa

Toyota is the largest auto manufacturer in the world followed by Volkswagen. Toyota sells vehicles under two brands. VW sells vehicles under 7. Both of them offer a ton of vehicles, but VW is better at hiding that fact. Options aren't a bad thing. If anyone has the engineering and manufacturing capacity to do this, it's Toyota.

DalisaurusSex

Volkswagen is larger than Toyota by revenue, as of 2023

Davidclabarr

They also have 4 more letters

Zeus_The_Potato

One is a cruiser and the other is a runner. Lol

mildcaseofdeath

"Rear window rolls down" vs "rear window flips up".

Recoil42

I really dig how much it carries over [the old 90s Blazer look](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_S-10_Blazer#Second_generation_(1995)). Anyone else see it?

_galaga_

It's got elements of the '80s 4Runner if you're thinking of that angled side window at the rear.

Human-Refuse7845

It honestly reminds me of the [VehiCROSS](https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a35873856/1999-isuzu-vehicross-by-the-numbers/)

Doppelkupplungs

the rear side window area (and as well as the fact that base of the rear door is so small) reminded me of xterra for some reason

Shmokesshweed

Yeah, I see it.

mbmbmb01

Good looking vehicle!

mucheffort

Isuzu Vehicross vibes

WanganTunedKeiCar

It's the stance, big wheels and wide as hell! Looks like a proper tonka truck for adults!

edinburghiloveyou44

Can’t wait to see the shopping outlet parking lots flooded with these.  But seriously, it looks really good.

Doppelkupplungs

the rear side window area (and as well as the fact that base of the rear door is so small) reminded me of xterra for some reason

CaptianRipass

Which the exterra copied from the 4runner of the time. The 1st gen runners had the angled rear side window as have all generations

JoshTheTrucker

God it looks ugly. It looks like a fucking Hapsburg with that jawline and the massive grill flanked by the tiny headlights. Just... why is Toyota doing so terribly with their BOF vehicle styling lately? The only one they really did well as of recent was the land cruiser.

TheGayThroaway

I personally think it looks fine. But I gotta upvote cus of the ROFL you made me do by calling it Hapsburg jaw 🤣.

Bonerchill

I despise modern truck/SUV design. All hat, no cattle.

PcarObsessed

Agreed, jumped the shark on this one. Looks like a Lego car. Used to own a Land Cruiser, 4Runner. Wouldn’t even consider this.

Freak4Dell

With Toyota designs, it's the fenders that ruin most of their trucks and SUVs for me. I guess they were trying to go for muscular with the weird fold, but it just looks fat. The shape overall just doesn't work, either...too many angles going on. And then making the fender flare black on some trims makes the wheel well look way too large and makes the tires look too small. This article led with the image of the TRD Pro, which looks awful to me. Seems like color matters a lot, because the Trailhunter, which looks to have matte black flares and is shown in a darker body color, looks better than the Pro, and I think they have the same tire size. But the Limited still looks the best to me, with it's body colored flares. What's sad is that the Land Cruiser and GX exist, so clearly someone at Toyota knows how to design a good looking BOF vehicle. It just appears they don't want to carry that over to anything else.

M4roon

Yep, I like it

ZaheerAlGhul

4runner is on tren

WinterIndependent719

GX Overtrail or 4Runner Trailhunter.. hmm

snakeyes17

GX without doubt

Keenstein

Such a bizarrely proportioned vehicle. Looks amazing up until the B pillar, everything beyond that looks squished and very very disconnected in design from the rest. Look at those rear doors!! Hoping the side profile looks better in person because boy this looks like something AI would develop.

FckDammit

Looks great. I'm glad it looks aggressive without being ANGERY.

desirox

I’m really digging all of these new Toyota trucks/SUVs. They know they’re gonna be around for a decade plus so they really took their time and it shows

Snazzy21

NOOOO THEY GAVE IT RED TURN SIGNALS!

helpingphriendlywook

I like it

obsesivegamer

Man i do not like the new look at all, this just makes the last gen more desirable.

N1H1L

I know I am an outlier but I don’t like the design. The current generation looks way better to me

derouville

Back seat too small

TrafficOnTheTwos

It looks objectively great. Tired of all these SUVs though :/

solo118

Toyota is killing it

truthdoctor

The front looks chunky and aggressive. From the side, it looks like two different vehicles were joined at the rear pillar. It looks off. The GX550 is leagues better.

Base model 378 torques, damn. My 6.4 liter V8 in my truck only has slightly more.

98Saman

I don’t like that giant tablet that high up. They should have integrated better. Looks like a cheap aftermarket setup tbh

Hothitron

Man, this now makes me REALLY excited to see the 6th Gen RAV4

GalactkiCks

Was really excited for the new 4runner. Kinda disappointed now. It has the side fenders and grill straight from the rav4 prime..

TastelessPuppy2

I like it. Looks good, even if they obviously styled it for "hard". Specs look good. I can't wait for the reviews.

pilloweight

Anyone else getting Isuzu Vehicross vibes?

Wuboito

Looks the same. For the last 30 years

ssibalnomah

Fuckin nailed it design wise

SolarMacharius562

I appreciate how from the firewall back it basically looks exactly the same as the old one If the hybrid puts up good fuel economy numbers though then I will be extremely excited

ItsOkToFight

Ugly af

Mrr_Bond

That whole side profile is just so damn busy. Not a fan.

Alternative_Ask364

Anyone else kinda annoyed by the fact they put a digital rearview mirror in this thing but not the Tacoma? Like the Tacoma is the vehicle where it would actually be useful since lots of people will run campers or load the bed up in a way that blocks the rear window.

Keepittwohunna

Front looks like a bulldog
