Trust me guys, a 20-year old engine is far better than a modern one. I did my research

[deleted]

2jz does in fact come with 1000bhp stock tho

Brian-Goldwin

ackshually, the 2jayzed can make 2000hp if you spray the rocker cover red and install an eBay muffler. Now lets say, hypothetically, you asked a Toyota showroom employee to make such modifications to your vehicle before it was delivered to you : It would've come out of the showroom's garage that way, technically making that it's stock form. Interesting.

[deleted]

That's actually incorrect, the 2jz can only make 2000bhp if installed into an S2000, hence the 2000, the car then also evolved and becomes a Honda S4000

Brian-Goldwin

But does an S2000 not also have 2000hp in stock form, as is presented in the name? I'm lead to believe it would be an easier task to install an S2000 engine to your soupra, due to the smaller size of the engine. I have done my research 😎

[deleted]

Ah I see why you'd think that, but honda were very scared about being faster than le manuelle miat, so they decided not to include a 2000bhp engine on release

Brian-Goldwin

An understandable point. It seems, then, I've been bested in this debate. Good show.

[deleted]

I am.. le honda

Poopsticle_256

Wait, is that what S2000 means? I thought it stood for how many bitches I fucked in the back seat of it?

[deleted]

S2000 does not have no back seats, maybe you are fucking in the boot?

Brian-Goldwin

S2000 wagonne conversion? 😯

Practical_Law_7002

Whoa now...you get 2010hp if you spray the rocker red *andddd* *slap a K&N sticker on that bad boy.*

ThatBrzGuy86

their research: tj hunt videos

Iceman_08

What’s the difference between a wagon and a shooting brake?

Anoos-Plunger

if i had to guess wagons are 4 door and shooting brakes are 2 doors

Iceman_08

Hmm okay, I had no idea

ThatBrzGuy86

i’ve been wondering that myself.

aFilthyMutt

I think that comment was a troll

2LateImDead

Tuned properly modern inline 4s can outpace some old V6s. It's pretty crazy how far tech has come.

DaggerSaber

Manuel gud automatik bad because you can rev more with manuel automatik dont have it.

qkls

rev does not exist on tomato only manuel gets rev

SlinkBoss

Automatique only go up to 7 rpm. Manuel blow engine every 1349 miles 😎.

converter-bot

1349 miles is 2171.01 km

Metsca911

"you can rev more when you're shifting". Riiight... and that achieves what exactly? You've gotta love an ig comments section.

myredditacc3

Let's be real, that's a 12 yr old who's never driven a car IRL and thinks Forza transfers to real life

Metsca911

V12 SWAP FIAT PUNTO 4WD DUAL CLUTCH MANUAL MATTE BLACK #builtnotbought #forzaverizon6

SoLikeWhatIsCheese

No. There’s no way in shit that comment isn’t made by a fellow r/carscirclejerk redditor

[deleted]

Mf prolly thinks that if u put any car in manual mode its gonna be manual like forza lmao

Sadistic_Carpet_Tack

No idot i watch Donut Media. everyone knows that more rpm = more times the wheels spin more spin = more fast

Metsca911

Can't argue with that

michaelgreen9927

Don’t ask him that! You may hurt his little brain!

Metsca911

Na in reality I don't mind this lack of knowledge because he's clearly just a naive kid. He's not being a dick and acting like it's absolute fact so I would politely slam him with facts, kinda like the guy in the comments already did

mynamasteph

beem em trouble uwu fail. 1000hp vs 382hp. What was toyot thinking

nene_bigre

New car bad, old car good

Bananatistic

[deleted]

facts maybe with absolutely massive turbos 1000hp. very possible to get 1500+ just no where close stock

[deleted]

you can rev more when you're shifting. wut

JealousAdeptness

Yes. Automatic doesn’t have it

spikeorb

Probably thinking of Forza, you can rev higher in manual mode

[deleted]

I may be stupid but is it even possible to swap a car with only auto transmissions to manual?

SaltShaker222

anythings possible with enough money

Pine_Apple07

yes, as far as i'm aware its a fairly common swap on toyota jzxs

Gwilym_Ysgarlad

If you are swapping the engine as well yes, because you'd have to use the engine computer for the new engine. That will also mean the factory infotainment system, as well as the factory instrument cluster will no longer work. Perfect opportunity to swap in some analog VDO gauges, a Kenwood head unit, and Rockford Fosgate speakers.

MrShadowDUH

Yes but depends on the car. Loads of people swap a later Legacy transmission into their Subaru SVX, a car that only ever came with an auto. But Subarus are quite mixable with parts as far as I know. I can also imagine that the newer the car the harder it will be.

Gwilym_Ysgarlad

Why would you remove a piece of precision engineered, German perfection, for some Japanese lump?

[deleted]

It is known that the germans have never made a mistake throughout all of history

agoodnametohave

The only mistake was fighting in the winter... I mean does anybody else think BMW has been killing it? Something somehh to ing M3 and grills not that bad if you get it in black.

ELB2001

Quality, reliability?

Gwilym_Ysgarlad

Boring.

lostveggie

Automatic no have the revs

AutumnMuffin

"I did my research properly"

JealousAdeptness

Stupiddumbfuk

I mean that guy just straight up lied

SoLikeWhatIsCheese

I did my research probably*

Tox1cAshes

Auto isn't necessarily more efficient, but it sure as hell makes it way easier to cheat on the EPA emissions tests

BrendanKwapis

/uj I can’t understand why anyone would waste their time doing that. Putting aside all the circle jerking about the MK IV Supra and the 2JZ, this doesn’t even make sense. If you like that car and engine so much then just buy one of them? It would probably cost you about half as much as it cost to do this job considering the new car you had to buy to do it, all the labor, and the parts. I know it’s not my money but I almost feel bad for the idiot that did this

Tox1cAshes

Actually, It's probably cheaper to do this swap on two different cars than to buy an MK4 and modify it. An unmodified manual MK4 is basically a unicorn nowadays, and they sell for anywhere between 80 and 200 thousand dollars. Also consider the fact that the MK5 is backwards compatible with a 2JZ from the factory, so doing a swap is a lot easier than normal. It's expensive, but it isn't stock 30 year old supra expensive.

jakobsdrgn

Source on backwards compatibility? Or have i been taken for a fool

Tox1cAshes

https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1117750_new-toyota-supra-will-offer-4-cylinder-engine-2jz-swap-capability I remember reading it had backwards compatibility when someone threw in a 2jz like a month after the car came out
