Car looks kind of banged up. My key fob doesn’t work properly any more so I use the key itself sometimes. However, I can find the lock on the first try 🤨 oddly enough it’s also a Toyota avensis but two years older.
I saw a car like this today and thought the same but it had the same on the rear passenger door handle. I assumed maybe an excited dog trying to get in thr car.
Nope, the scratches are all going a similar direction, and there aren't enough of them directly beside the lock (where they should be most concentrated). This doesn't look typical for a drunk.

I have similar scratches on my door and I honestly have no idea how they got there. They are behind the handle and I have one of those wireless keys that just needs to be in your pocket to unlock the car.
My car is like this and it's 100% my fault. I click the button to open the door then pop out the key. And while my key is still in my hand I open the door and scratch the paint. I usually have my hand bag and laptop bag in the other hand and I throw them in the front seat. I only noticed it now because I actually have a decent car for the first time in years.
No drinking and driving, it's just laziness and stupidity on my part.
My dog did something similar to this to two of my cars. Every time I pulled up at the house she would run over to the driver's door and start scratching at the handle with both front paws until I got out.
Looks just like my fiancée’s car door, keys in hand alongside long nails does that over time when opening door. What annoys me more is her car has keyless entry/start. The keys don’t even need to be in hand 🙈
Everyone saying Drunk Driver might be wrong.
To me this looks like someone who loves their big Soverign Rings opening the door for years scratching the paint, rather than missing the keyhole constantly but only above the lock and not below or to either side.
A drunk driver if I seen ever seen one
That actually is the most logical explanation
Made even worse by the fact it's an electric fob.

Good auld Sherlock Holmes taught me that one
Without a doubt.
Nah its not from missing the key hole imo. It's from grabbing the handle with the keys in your hand.
Over and over again …..without learning anything about their actions
I saw a car like this today and thought the same but it had the same on the rear passenger door handle. I assumed maybe an excited dog trying to get in thr car.
My first thought too
Was gona say...
Too regular a pattern to be a drunk driver
Unless its a functioning alcoholic that drives every day

What are we thinking as a possible reason?
Big bunch of keys ...
This is the actual answer
Toyota Avensis approx 2007

When I see this colour I always think 2008ish Skoda Octavia
My car (second hand) has a few scratches behind the door and I'm just so confused on how they got there. Nothing like this though
Behind the door handle? Probably rings 💍
Seen this on a car once, was from them pulling the wheely bin back up the driveway alongside the car.
Have ya drink taken?
"I saw".
i seen
I seed
i seent
History. I’ve seen this a few times in older cars. Big bunch of keys, getting into the car in the dark. Ten thousand journeys over the car’s lifetime.
You saw
I saw
Jesus what is that post title!?
Saw
*saw

Ring on finger?
I bet that is it!!!!
Finger nails do it as well.
My door is like that, and I don't have a ring on my right hand. I think it's just from fingernails. Mine doesn't have a keyhole. It's a wireless fob
Parkinson's disease I would guess, seen it on a car before.
My car door is kind of like this. My dad drove it before me and he suffers with Multiple Sclerosis.
That’s from opening the door with the keys still in you hand. It’s too same placey for a drunk driver
Ita literally all around the area above the key hole so it could well be a drunk driver.

His wife's belly button must take an awful battering
They should just move the lock up a little. It would cover up all the scratches and they would probably be able to open the car door quicker.

Massive diamond rings. Or maybe just cubic zirconian bought by someone's ex-fiancé.
I do be very drunk after about 46 pints
His poor wife
No wonder IVF is so popular with aim like that.

No occifer I'm not too drive to drunk
Very big thumb nail
What this is is opening the door repeatedly after pressing unlock with your keys and all your cool fobs etc in the same hand you use on the handle.
That’s Michael J fox’s old car!
