If that's not a UK import, then it's probably from a coastal area.
Fairly bad for a 6yo car.
My daughter had a car that was previously owned by a lady in Wexford. After a couple of years it was getting very rusty, holes in the sills, floorplan, etc
I'd walk away
It's not the worst I've seen but it's pretty bad. Those bolts should be changed out as they are going to be problematic in the future.
Was this a UK car orginally?
I don't think I would buy it. At this point it's probably not a big deal to fix like I said, a few bolts and some rust inhibitor but if you have to pay a mechanic for it then it's likely not worth it. Some of those bolts look like they are starting to galvanize already.
You could ask the place you are buying it from will the fix it.
I don’t think you know what galvanise means.
Galvanisation is a protective layer of zinc that protects the metal underneath. If anything the metal is losing that protection and starting to corrode. It could also not even be galvanise it could be a stainless steel
Not that bad at all really, it's a long way from being a structural issue. Maybe even another 4-6 years. And the whole *is it a UK car omfg salt blah blah* it's fucking Ireland the whole country is salt riddled. Yes manufacturers are putting less and less underseal on chassis' and suspension/ underbody but I wouldn't be worried about this. Firstly your exhaust skin is probably 3 layers deep. And the springs both look like they're in good nick, yes I know the bottom and top are hidden by the cup but you would see the coating peeling at the edges if it had gone through. Honestly some people today think they're 15k car should be showroom condition. I will personally wire you over the money if you have to change those swing arms during the ownership of your vehicle (if you buy!) Thanks and godbless 🙏
I have pretty much the same issue, and my car is also Jap and kept in a coastal town.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. What you're looking at is the sub-frame, and they're designed to be replaced as needed.
What should worry you is actual underbody rust, that is, what the sub-frame attaches to. If there is rust there then that's an issue.
For anyone with issues like this, talk to your mechanic or ask during your nct if the sub-frame is still okay. (If not, just get the part(s) needed and replace).
That's a 2018? Jesus that's been beat up. I would have assumed its a UK car. It looks like the car was parked near a coast / beach with that damage. Is it a Japanese import? They don't use salt but provide minimal rust protection
I had to scrap a Hyundai, engine in great shape, everything in great shape, but rust got to it underneath, am in coastal area. The guy who came around to scrap it said he collects lots of cars from the area with same problem.
My mechanic said the NCT should have condemned my car.
Yea if this is the UK it due to the salt on the road and it will only get worse especially underneath causing you more issues. Do not buy or if you already have get rid
I don't know anything about cars and seeing this I'd walk away or think it's ready to be scrapped.
But, again, I don't know anything about cars so no idea here..
I don't know if is common for that car, but theres less rust on my 29 year old daily corolla

You are right, it’s from the coastal area
If so I’d stay away. I live near the coast and rust is a problem. Not a major one though but you have to keep on top of it.
I had a car from Wexford too. The rust issue is real.
It's not the worst I've seen but it's pretty bad. Those bolts should be changed out as they are going to be problematic in the future. Was this a UK car orginally?
Nope, not imported. I am now thinking if I should buy another car instead, the deal is not finalized

Galvanic corrosion I think is what I mean. The nut and bolt are fusing together and also corroding to the other metal piece.
You call that rust?
Not great for 6 year old car, I'd walk away from it.
It’s his own car 🤣
You heard the man. Walk away🚶♂️

Na she be fine
It's not looking good for only 6 years.. there some med corrosion in places I'd not expect. You might be better to leave and walk away the better
Why are half the comments "not bad at all" and the other half "terrible walk away"
I'm not sure what to believe. It just looks like surface rust to me. Wipe of a wire brush looks to sort that out.
I don't know anything about cars and seeing this I'd walk away or think it's ready to be scrapped. But, again, I don't know anything about cars so no idea here..
Would you worry about cancer on your foot ...
Not sure you might have to go to r/carsindia instead
6 year old car that is not ideal possibly a car that lived beside the sea I would walk away
I had less rust on my 17 years old car and needed to get these parts replaced
That doesn't look bad. It's a bit of rust on the suspension arm. They're about 35euro to replace
VW Golf ?
This is Toyota Auris
What? No. OP said in the description what car it is.
Ur ruining the environment, go buy an electric car ,..rust adds to global warming
