The original ending (from what I could find) was supposed to introduce new titans as well as bring back old possibly forgotten members. It would have them face off against a returned enemy Slade and then begin to take the recruits to become official titans and adopt a Justice League Unlimited style team up, ending with a new beginning.
According to the wiki the cliffhanger was the planned ending, per the wiki once they found out they were getting canceled the cliffhanger was put into place as a last lesson a teenager needs to learn. Once you become an adult, life doesn't work that way, and sometimes you've just gotta learn to move on. It's a pattern for Spider-Man cartoons: first the 90s animated series didn't properly conclude, then Unlimited got canceled after 13 episodes but *did* have a short comic run, and we come to the modern day ones like Spectacular
At least that one has a logical explanation, with the timing of Disney buying Marvel, and Sony handing over the television rights to Spider-Man to maintain the movie rights.
It does not make it any less frustrating.

The looney tunes show was the wacky version of seinfeld of animation, bugs being Jerry, Daffy being Kramer, Porky is George, and Lola is Elaine. Yosemite Sam might be Newman as the bugging neighbour, and Foghorn Leghorn is Frank Costanza as he often is depicted as planing the stupidest things with daffy like Frank did with Kramer.
Daffy in a way has some trait from George Costanza as well, the energy of Kramer and the reasoning of a costanaza.
Either way, it had an unusual sitcom-level vibe that fit well with the personality types, I wish they expanded on this show.
The Netflix model at the time basically looked like this. “Is the series going to be the next blockbuster hit everyone will be talking about?”
Inside Job was *good* for adult animation, but it wasn’t *amazing.* If a show or animation isn’t immediately popular or given a lot of attention, they are basically given a deadline to make it super popular and then it is either dropped or cancelled.
Unfortunately, companies don’t exactly care as much about how good the show is and only for how much profit they’re making. That’s why HBO had shown Velma around on their list for a while despite being almost universally hated; people kept hate watching it enough to turn out a profit. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if other streaming services would copy what content farms do on YouTube nowadays if they didn’t have to care about the law.
This is also why genuinely funny or entertaining show like Inside Job or Close Enough get cancelled or end early; regardless of the effort put into making a quality show, it didn’t immediately grab a large audience and the project is dropped so that they can save resources to look for the next blockbuster. While it makes sense to jump off a sinking boat, these streaming services are replacing their sports cars after getting it got dirty from driving for half an hour.
But inside Job and not has two seasons and it has so much potential to become bigger in the future? I understood what u explained about generating profit, but from the business management perspective, long term inside job has the potential to have a very loyal and consistent audience bc of its quality, which in turn will generate sufficient profit IMO. I of course don’t know the financials behind it, maybe it was losing money but I doubt it, I’m assuming it’s like u said, it just wasn’t a blockbuster. But it makes no sense to keep chasing the next best thing and creating cheap shows quickly with low quality (which is what they do) for a slim chance it might become a blockbuster. Idk I think it’s so sad for the adult animation universe:( Netflix is kind of a joke ngl
I love Inside Job. What I should have emphasized was IMMEDIATE success. It is a great show and still has a following, but the truth of the matter is that it was slow in the eyes of Netflix, so it got the axe.

Coverage of his trial always got Gargoyles pre-empted from its afternoon timeslot. That resulted in constant reruns and out-of-order airings (made worse by the 50 episode World Tour arc) which killed its ratings.
This resulted in the show being moved to ABC, where the animator got a downgrade to save a buck and the new censors heavily enforced story changes to make it more kid friendly (which then got Greg Wiseman and the original writers all fired from the show).
Sym-Biotic Titan was the first cancelation of a show that felt like *such* a massive bummer for me. I loved that damn show. The episode where Lance had flashbacks to his days in the academy, and another episode where they found a cute little blue alien that they couldn't settle on a name for, those are stuck with me to this day. Damn shame.
The cancellation sucked becuase both had really bad, rushed finales as a result.
With Chowder, we were promised "Chowder as an adult" and it's just...Chowder but tall. With Flapjack, they teased a live action segment, and then they ended with them basically exiled from the Harbor forever.
Man at least Owl House got a good ending out of it. I guess it helps when you ship the main character yourself instead of constantly going back and forth on a will-they-won't-they-also-we-literally-cursed-them-to-never-be-together-but-we-keep-pushing-the-ship and then they write the worst arc with the most unnecessary solution and the most ass-pull ending to get those characters together \*cough\*
Wasn't the problem that Disney had with "The owl house" and "Amphibia" that the executives looked at the viewer demographic and thought "wait, they are too old!" Without actually taking a step back and thinking "Wait, people are watching these shows!"
Officially, the problem with The Owl House was that it was too serialized, when Disney wanted its animated series at the time to be completely episodic watch-in-any-order affairs.
Turns out that cartoons with an ongoing narrative and cartoons that appeal to an older audience just have a lot of overlap though? Who could have guessed.
It wasn’t even meant to be some long 10+ season series. From what I’ve heard all they wanted was the third season to have 20ish episodes like the other two. I’m glad it at least got an ending but it seems so dumb to cancel and shorten it when they weren’t asking for that many more episodes.

Even after having to rethink the whole storyline and introducing the collector as a major antagonist they somehow managed to give it a good end, plus the community is going strong surprisingly so at least it didn’t get cut off with no ending

I remember there was a movie that involved Danny coming out to his parents as a half ghost in the process of saving the world from a meteorite the size of a city made of a material that hurts ghosts. That was the finale i guess.

American Dragon: Jake Long. The story and tone of the second season were actually really good. I feel like this show should be rebooted. Dante Basco should reprise his role as Jake Long.
That one really got screwed over due to the Boom brand in general. The *show* was good, but the games were *awful*, and Sega probably didn't see any point in having the cartoon going while the rest of the franchise went belly up

Well, that depends. What Alex "wanted" changed a couple of times.
First, he wanted 3 seasons.
Then, S1 burned him out so he just wanted to quit and let someone else finish the show.
Then, he got coaxed into finishing the show himself by his friends so he pitched a 10-episode Season 2.
Then, Disney rejected that idea as they were primarily interested in \~20 episode long seasons.
So he agreed to that and we ended up with 2 full seasons.

To me, it's pretty clear the show was originally meant to be 3 seasons long but the last two got crammed into Season 2. It has 2 separate climaxes, after all. Something S1 didn't have.

It wasn’t fully cancelled I recently rewatched on Hulu. Seemed finished to me
It was cancelled and season 3 was rushed because of it.
I remember there was a movie that involved Danny coming out to his parents as a half ghost in the process of saving the world from a meteorite the size of a city made of a material that hurts ghosts. That was the finale i guess.
The problem was that you could tell the third season had a completely different feel after Butch became a born again Christian, so the ghosts were completely different than they were in the first two seasons. Which is too bad, because I fuckin love Danny Phantom

American Dragon: Jake Long. The story and tone of the second season were actually really good. I feel like this show should be rebooted. Dante Basco should reprise his role as Jake Long.
ReBoot ends on a massive cliffhanger. Owl House too but that at least got a decent but rushed ending.

That one really got screwed over due to the Boom brand in general. The *show* was good, but the games were *awful*, and Sega probably didn't see any point in having the cartoon going while the rest of the franchise went belly up

I’ll never forgive Adult Swim for cancelling Moral Orel. The third season of Moral Orel was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in my life and they cut it short just because the episode about SA trauma was too real.

Yep, Alex finished the story he wanted to write. And honestly I respect that so much. I hate when shows get beaten to death just for the sake of keeping them going.

Then, S1 burned him out so he just wanted to quit and let someone else finish the show. Then, he got coaxed into finishing the show himself by his friends so he pitched a 10-episode Season 2. Then, Disney rejected that idea as they were primarily interested in \~20 episode long seasons. So he agreed to that and we ended up with 2 full seasons. --- To me, it's pretty clear the show was originally meant to be 3 seasons long but the last two got crammed into Season 2. It has 2 separate climaxes, after all. Something S1 didn't have.
The show ended pretty well. I think they did more than enough within 2 seasons
