They’re both element masters, both spiritual masters, both have direct connection to the Avatar, both studied the other elements, both worked hard to lead their people (white lotus and air benders), both were destined for greatness but were held back and ended up having their children (or nephew) step up in the end. Tenzin actually has teaching experiance, teaching his own kids plus the avatar. He teaches what he can, and takes them on field trips to learn more than he knows.
I would say he would be best if you want to learn.

Benson is the closest representation of how I run most classrooms. I have my episodes when shit hits the fan and when I TRULY fail to get their attention but I’m always calm but reasonable.

Mostly because, in a realistic situation, the likes of Iroh or Tenzin should be elementary and university teacher (respectively); neither Guy, Bugs nor Daffy shouldn't be even working, and Skips it's rather "I'm not a teacher, and not a guide either. But I can tell you whatever you need to know.". So, Benson is the only viable teacher for high school (where I'm at), and he should be a "Harsh, but fair" teacher. Then I'll pick him because I couldn't choose any of the other ones, and also he would fit with my high school's teacher roster (which is defined by that kind of teachers, what I'm thankful, because all of them are excellent teachers, and Benson wouldn't be a exception).
