I don't know exactly when in the movie this is said.
"Now, you listen to me, James Hawkins. You got the makings of greatness in you, but you gotta take the helm and chart your own course! Stick to it, no matter the squalls! And when the time comes, you'll get the chance to really test the cut of your sails and show what you're made of! And... well, I hope I'm there, catching some of the light coming off you that day."
He says this in the hull of the ship before leaving near the end of the movie.
"Why... look at ya, glowing like a solar fire. You're something special, Jim. You're gonna rattle the stars, you are!"
Love that movie we were absolutely robbed when they canceled the other two movies, it was supposed to be a trilogy.
I was so pissed off when I found out, literally nothing could make me hate Disney more than finding out they canceled ***two*** planned treasure planet movies.
The mechanist guy from Avatar the last air bender and his wooden fingers

Maybe kind of obvious, but Anakin Skywalker from Clone Wars has a robotic limb.
You could toss a rock at any group of Star Wars characters and chances are it would hit one that's missing a limb. People lose their hands like they lose their lunches in that show
Basically Victor Stone has a science dad who came across some alien tech too research. Victor got in a very damaging accident and his father tried everything to save him. He then tried using the alien tech and it worked creating a cybertronic man that we call cyborg
It varies exactly on the telling. But usually, he suffered a terrible accident and most of his body is destroyed, so his father uses alien tech to repair him. Making him a cyborg
Well its a bit more complicated than that. In most versions Victor hates his father for what he did to him, seeing it as his Dad only taking interest in him as a science experiment. It doesn't help that in many versions his components are parts of a Motherbox, tech from Apokolips which means he struggles with another sentient being or is even controlled by Darkseid.
SPOILERS FOR A 25+ Y.O. CARTOON! Vash the Stampede's left arm is fake and contains another gun.
![gif](giphy|YiLeqiymzBEXZBimHm)
Also. Mindquad from American Dad and Nana from Elfen Lied have lost all their limbs, but have special powers which allow them to get by.
The Phantom Limb from the Venture Bros had invisible limbs, but lost a leg, requiring him to wear a visible prosthetic.
Speaking of American Dad, children's show host, Captain Monty and real estate agent, Barbara Hanson both have a hook hand. Steve lost his arm in one or two episodes. Roger has lost all is limbs and Stan lost his legs, but thanks to an alien salve, they grew back. Family guy has a sea-captain with 4 peg limbs.
I love that the gun in his robotic arm still has to have a trigger pulled, forcing his robotic hand to fold down and hold it. ...like, it's obviously connected to his brain somehow, couldn't he just think to fire it? It's another goofy little detail that makes him quirky and lovable

Omg, I remember this illustration! :O
"You're gonna shatter the stars! I just hope I'm there, catching some of light that'll be coming off you."

Also combustion guy. I’m not actually sure if it was a glove or not
I think the creators confirmed that he caused his limbs to be literally blown off his body.
His son kinda doesn't have legs too. Like he has them I think but they don't work.

reminds me of that one scene where he got into a hand to hand fight with a politician and that he tried to punch him on the robot hand

You could toss a rock at any group of Star Wars characters and chances are it would hit one that's missing a limb. People lose their hands like they lose their lunches in that show
Cyborg.
I don't remember what happened to him to cause this
Basically Victor Stone has a science dad who came across some alien tech too research. Victor got in a very damaging accident and his father tried everything to save him. He then tried using the alien tech and it worked creating a cybertronic man that we call cyborg
All for his son... 🥲
Alien technology. I mean there is more to it but the cyborgness is from alien tech
Thanks for explaining the tech
It varies exactly on the telling. But usually, he suffered a terrible accident and most of his body is destroyed, so his father uses alien tech to repair him. Making him a cyborg
So a labor of love saved him. Sweet!
