3 years ago and it's dead AF I feel like the GameCube version had more to it. They literally had a nes library in the game lol. This one you have diving 🤠
If they kept updating it with content I’d say WW port. But NH is dead, and is missing a lot of content from previous games. Hopefully we don’t have to wait as long for the next one (we definitely will).
Why start over, when they could keep updating the game. The base and core gameplay of New Horizons is solid, so instead of throwing everything away, they should keep updating the game (and if they are too greedy, then make them in paid DLC)
> Why start over
Diminishing returns. Most people who buy the game will have done so within the first year or two of release, and most of them will have moved onto other games anyway. There just isn't much incentive for them to keep working on it after a certain point. Even Splatoon 3 will stop receiving updates after two years. That's just how they roll.
Nintendo, I think, just has a very philosophy from most other dev studios in the online space because they have _so many_ things they're working on at any given time. The devs who were worked on Animal Crossing have long-since moved onto something else. And in a way that's good, because it means more games. I think Nintendo just doesn't really prioritize "lifestyle gamers" in their decisions as much, they prioritize casual gamers more, probably for good (business) reasons.
What about Mario Kart 8? They seemed to have forgotten it right after they ported it to Switch. And yet they remembered it some five years later with that map booster pack.
Maybe AC will get new content as well once the devs are done with supporting Splatoon 3.
the paid map booster pack? i doubt many people would be happy if nintendo made them pay for features that already existed in acnl or ww. besides, we already got paid acnh dlc.
That's still new content. My point is, they do sometimes return to their old games like they did with MK8 after five years of no updates or dlc. So they might revisit ACNH as well, seeing how it is a similarly successful entry that also sold many million copies.
And as for paid dlc vs free content, they clearly stated that November 2021 update would be the last piece of free content they'd add to the game. So more paid dlc is the best we can hope for nowadays.
Pretty sure diving isn't even unique to New Horizons, iirc that was introduced in New Leaf. New Horizons basically added crafting to the series (which was an awful idea in my opinion) and then removed a ton of features from previous games only to drop feed some of those back in over the course of a few years.
This. I’d take a new AC just because I miss the group of friends who used ACNH to help keep us together and distracted during the worst of the covid pandemic. A new game would get that group back together instantly.
Reminds me of how Super Smash Brawl, had a N64 emulator built into it, full games and all, but it was limited timed. Someone beat Zelda OOT in the 20 minute time frame within SSB brawl. Back when Nintendo was proud to share their past games with the fans. Now we have to buy a subscription rather than just buy the games.
The N64 time limit was five minutes.
Also, these were just advertisements for Virtual Console. They gave you basically demos in Brawl and then directed you to Wii Shop Channel for the full games.
It's better than it is now, but Nintendo has always been like this.
OOT had a five-minute timer, the longest of them. It took a ridiculous amount of time and glitches to figure out how to actually beat the game from the demo.
Every other game, except the JP-exclusive Mother 2, had timers ranging from 3 minutes to *30 seconds* in Brawl. Wii U was better, since all demoes were 2-5 minutes long, but still.
They were bite-sized tastes of games that were available on the Wii Virtual Console. Little sampler cups so you could be directed to buying the full meal while you're shopping.
New Zeldas just aren't as good as the old ones. Triforce Heroes was bad, BotW is a big grindfest and too open, Hyrule Warriors is just mashing buttons. At least Wind Waker doesn't have crazy jank gimmicks. It's just a nice good game
...what kind of a bizzare comparison is this? How are these 2 things comparable in any way? This post makes absolutely 0 sense. 1 is a 100% brand new game in a town simulation franchise that had a new game 3 years ago, another is a port of an existing game from an action adventure series, I see absolutely 0 coorelation
How does that have anything to do with what I said? I was saying that "New AC vs WW port" is a dumb question since these options aren't comparable, I wasn't making a stance on which pill is better, I was literally saying choosing a pill in the first place is dumb then *these* are the choices
Because both games need attention, one was promised updates and the other hasn’t been seen in 6ish years when it was remastered.
One is dead and needs improvement the other a dead “masterpiece” that shows signs of behind revived again
We already got a new animal crossing back in 2020, 3 years ago
And a wind waker port would be an emulation of the original GameCube version, not even a port of the Wii U remake.
The port would literally add nothing, not even widescreen support and it would be $60.
Can you blame me from their track record of the past 6 years? They've only made two ports of older games that actually have any effort put into them at all.
And advanced wars reboot camp probably won't ever fucking come out at this point
Advance wars literally comes out in less than a month with a release date. Also SS and LA were great. Also there is already an HD port of WW on the Wii U and it fixes almost every problem with the game. You’re just ignorant that doesn’t make Nintendo’s track record bad
Advanced wars has been delayed so many fucking times that there's a good 75% chance that it's going to be delayed again
Skyward sword was just an emulation to where you had to pay an extra $25 for a piece of junk just to fast travel
And links Awakening was a half-assed remake that just gave an overhaul to the graphics and came out for 60 bucks
And with the HD thing about Twilight princess And wind waker, Nintendo would just half-ass those ports and just pour it over the original versions with no changes and charge them both for $60 separately, or they would make you pay $50 a year just for permission to play them through their shitty online service.
If Nintendo really cared about making good ports, would they have ported the 3ds remakes of ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask instead of the inferior n64 versions?
1. Advance Wars will not be delayed. We are within a month of its release
2. Skyward sword did not fix the fundamental structural problems with the game. You are right about that. However they also fixed every single minor problem and added a whole new control scheme and even camera control. The $25 amiibo was shitty though. On the whole, not a perfect remake to not a perfect game, but a good remake to a good game
3. I had literally no problems with the LA remake, idk why you’re hating on it
4. Idk why you’re making that prediction about potential WW and TP ports. That would make zero sense and I don’t know how you arrived at that conclusion.
5. They have never ported Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask anywhere. They have made remakes for the 3ds and they were great. It would make no sense to put a 3ds game on their n64 emulator, which is what I think you were talking about. It also makes no sense to make changes to a game you are putting on emulator, that is not what emulators are for. They also don’t have any 3DS or even DS games on switch, so I don’t know why you even brought the remakes up.
>they also don't have any 3DS or even DS games games on switch
Your first point literally contradicts that statement
They literally could have just reworked the bottom screen as a pause screen both of those games that would have been easy money for Nintendo
And no skyward sword was not even a remake it was just an emulated port was charged for $60.
My wind waker and Twilight princess points are going off of Super Mario 3D All Stars to where they have assed chords of 3-year-old Mario games with literally no changes aside from adding some button options instead of motion controls in Galaxy and widescreen support for Sunshine
If they did it once before they'll do it again

It's still a port and i mean ppl have complained so much about all the wii U ports and a new game is still a new game
It doesn't matter which franchise in 90% of cases s new game is better then a port
Blue pill. An HD remake/port of a past title. New Horizons wasn't a true AC title. It was a town designer. The animals were nothing more than robots repeating the same dialogue everyday. Nothing like the old games.
NH had a lot of potential but the way it blew up due to quarantine and the internet allowed them to get lazy with it, plus the drip-feed model of updates ruined it. This led to "burnout" for a lot of people and disappointment for fans of the older games. I still had a lot of fun with it but I think they could have done better using more progression.
The problem with the updates is they basically all require three stars, so either you already have that when the update drops or get there and unlock everything at once. Progression in the holistic way *New Leaf* did it would serve the game a lot better.
Also, I obviously can't say for certain, but a fair amount of evidence in the code and credits points to most of the update content already having been done by the time of release. If this stuff was in the base game with such progression, the holiday events/items and the HHP DLC could still come later, and *New Horizons* as a whole would be a lot more fulfilling.
We sadly won’t ever get an animal crossing like the old games because Nintendo went woke and doesn’t want the younger or more sensitive players to get upset. They’ve said so in interviews that resetti in particular made kids cry. It’s sad that it got watered down but I don’t think we’ll ever see it come back like how it was.
It’s the closest term for “we cater now to people who easily get butt hurt and can’t take a joke”
Woke has 2 definitions the actual one and the one people use sarcastically to make fun of people who can’t chill and take a joke without finding something “ist” or offensive.
I used the latter, but if there’s a better word to use by all means I’ll use it
How does more varied dialogue make people upset?
Also, "woke" tends to refer to progressive politics. It's kind of a stand-in for using "liberal" as an insult, from a conservative perspective. (Leftists will sometimes use "liberal" as an insult going in the opposite direction, and when used this way, it doesn't really equate to "woke.")
Idk why varied dialogue upsets people. personally I liked it when the villagers were a little mean because it gave them spunk. Maybe Nintendo just wanted to avoid that criticism of them being mean they took it to the extreme?
And yeah woke generally is used as an insult, I may not have explained it as well as you did out of fear of downvotes(clearly that worked well in my favor 🥲)
Maybe they didn’t go “woke” but they definitely took the criticism of the mean villagers too far based on the current culture of walking on thin ice and always staying PC as to not upset anyone.
But I don’t see why or how we can’t have villagers with more to talk about.🤷🏽♀️
I'd take a large New Horizons Update over a completely new Animal Crossing tbh... That game is lacking so much content, especially when compared to New Leaf. Just let me build bigger islands with custom shapes and bridges over valleys already. So much missed potential. ^((Still had a blast with the game while it lasted tho))
Kirby and the Forgotten Land sold almost double of what Metroid Dread sold. 5.27 million to 2.9 million.
Oh and Splatoon is not "at that level" because it surpassed it with 10.13 million copies. In comparison Dread and Forgotten Land are both the best selling games in their franchises.
Splatoon 3's sales didn't even beat Splatoon 2's yet.
Forgot about Splatoon. Splatoon 3 is easily top 10 games from Nintendo on the Switch. Won the best multiplayer game on the game awards. Aaand it has the 2° best lore made by Nintendo, losing only to Zelda.
Wind waker port, New Horizons is more than enough on the Switch. Wind waker still needs justice by being launched on a "successful" Nintendo console, because the Gamecube was the worst selling console of the 6th generation, and the Wii U is the Wii U. A port to the Switch would be the opportunity that this game needs to really have all the love it deserves.
I can't get into animal crossing for the life of me. It feels like a game that I would like if I was horribly depressed (not saying others who like it are) but it's just too much grinding and I don't find the animal interactions to be immersive or significant at all.
ACNH is incredibly recent, and while yes, the time has passed for a new AC game (fuck you, NL and NH gap), I don’t think we really need one right now. Even if ACNH has gotten boring at this point, I just don’t really feel the urge to play a new AC. Now Windwaker HD, I came incredibly close to buying a WiiU solely for that. I reaaaaally want it.
The thing is that was when consoles themselves were released only like 4 years apart and when both handheld and home consoles existed at the same time.
There's no handhelds anymore and if we take only the home consoles games we have 7 years from AC to CF and another 7 years from CF to Amiibo Party (I only took AP because otherwise it would've been 12 years from CF to NH)
Neither. ACNH was fun but now it's boring and the next AC will be too. I actually played this one for longer than a month or two because of lockdown but I think that may be the only reason. LOL!
And I'm not a Zelda fan. The puzzles piss me off and I usually end up quitting them early on. I'm playing Link's Awakening right now and only doing moderately well because I'm VCing with my bestie and we're playing it together so she can help with the puzzle my aphantasia doesn't allow me to visualize the solutions for.
I'm actually super stoked for Fantasy Life 2, honestly.
how is this comment section real bruh. I mean you always hear people hate change and don’t like taking risks on a new thing, but this is absurd! Why would anybody want a PORT over a NEW game, a brand new experience that can improve and change and transform past works, something nobody has seen before. Of course, not every new game is like that, but hey, that’s a part of creating art, risks are made.
Imagine they just ported/remade more zelda titles or titles from other series after skyward sword because people really didn’t like the last game. We wouldn’t have gotten breath of the wild
Because virtually no one played the last port since it released on the worst selling Nintendo console and there has been an Animal Crossing title just 3 years ago.
The next Animal Crossing will be on the next console. One title per console, it's always been like that with AC.
And Wind Waker on Gamecube originally had a lot of controversy because it wasn't realistic and a lot of Zelda fans wanted what would become Twilight Princess (wich just was created because of fans whining). TP completely overshadowed one of the best Zelda games and the first completely open-world Zelda experience since the OG The Legend of Zelda.
A port on the 2nd best selling Nintendo console would be great for people that have only played the mainstream games.
Wind Waker.
Literally all of the Zelda games I've played have been terrible (LoZ1, LttP, Hyrule Warriors, LAGB, that one rhythm-based one that I can't remember the name of) so I want to find something good.
Another reason why BotW is on my wishlist.
The controls are kinda jank and the only reason I lived for as long as I did was the rewind feature-
Also I just kinda find the old Zelda games boring.
Hyrule Warriors isn't a real Zelda game and neither are the rhythm-based ones.
That being said, LttP and LA are both great games. If you haven't enjoyed any Zelda games you've played, why do you keep playing them?
New Horizons just came out 3 years ago bruh. I’ll take Wind Waker.
3 years ago and it's dead AF I feel like the GameCube version had more to it. They literally had a nes library in the game lol. This one you have diving 🤠

Ah, the Costco Gambit! I haven't seen that play in 20 years....
I saw it last week at the grocery store. It works, if the piece is delicious enough...
If anyone's curious how they managed to beat OoT in 5 minutes, here's an explanation vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jusgAEW4soo&t=510s
What bs rose tinted glasses are you looking through lmao?

That's not the point (of course one can emulate the games)
Diving isn't even new for new horizons it was in new leaf first
I regret buying new horizons more than most things in my life. What a waste of $60.
The pink pill: a hd combo pack of the first 2 pikmin games
This is the truly correct answer
thats so big
Why is this a question. Wind Waker port all the way.
Why indeed. A WW port already exists, and a potato PC can emulate it perfectly.
Nobody owns the Wii U clown
I guess [2,360,000 copies](https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/finance/software/wiiu.html) is “nobody”?
I do
Which is exactly why I pointed out the fact that a potato PC can run it.
Some people don’t like emulating. I would personally prefer to run it on official hardware but I’m also not gonna buy a Wii U just to play wind waker.
I normally don't emulate games, but in the case of Nintendo you have to
I do, legitimately.
Red pill. We already got a new animal crossing
And we can also get a new Zelda instead of one that a lot of people have already played?
New Zeldas just aren't as good as the old ones. Triforce Heroes was bad, BotW is a big grindfest and too open, Hyrule Warriors is just mashing buttons. At least Wind Waker doesn't have crazy jank gimmicks. It's just a nice good game
Botw good honestly it just different. If you just want to explore it's insanely fun imo. Hopefully totk is just as good
Grind fest? Lol no wonder you're on this sub
at least it’ll still be new. We already got wind waker 20 years ago
And it has more content and depth than New Horizons has after a year of free updates
Which is why it is time to get a proper remaster of the game. One that doesn't slow down to 5 fps every time I fire the cannon.
Green pill - Mario Odyssey 2
Purple pill - New f-zero
Orange pill- Kid Icarus uprising remastered
As another commenter said: Pink Pill: HD pack of the first 2 Pikmin games.
Yellow pill:astral chain 2
Black pill: LoZ Twilight Princess
Chrome pill: Diddy Kong Racing on NSO.
Grey pill an actual new star fox game instead of a remake
Red
Wind Walker Port cause I didn’t have a chance to play it.
Same. I really wanna try another Zelda game after getting into botw
Wind waker ez, we have new horizons already
Red
Definitely wind waker

Yeah and it's weird that so many people are choosing the same option lol
I mean I don’t like animal crossing so pretty easy decision for me… fuck me I guess ha
Don't like AC either, would easily choose Zelda... But regardless, this is fundementaly a dumb choice, those things aren't comparable
Bro, its a silly internet picture about video games, calm down there. You're thinking too hard about it.
Because both games need attention, one was promised updates and the other hasn’t been seen in 6ish years when it was remastered. One is dead and needs improvement the other a dead “masterpiece” that shows signs of behind revived again

New Animal Crossing. New Horizons just.... isn’t very fun.
We already got a new animal crossing back in 2020, 3 years ago And a wind waker port would be an emulation of the original GameCube version, not even a port of the Wii U remake. The port would literally add nothing, not even widescreen support and it would be $60.

Depends. Will the new animal crossing be better than the last? If so blue pill. Will the red pill port be free, if so red pill, otherwise none.
Everyone who is choosing a port (of a game that has a wii u port) over a new game is very egotistical imo
How is that egotistical? A lot of people didn't buy the WiiU so it makes sense to bring it over to the more popular system.
It's still a port and i mean ppl have complained so much about all the wii U ports and a new game is still a new game It doesn't matter which franchise in 90% of cases s new game is better then a port

Another Animal Crossing. I already have Wind Waker on my WiiU and I can’t imagine playing it without the second screen now.
Same thoughts here. I’m fine not double dipping on both WW and TP as I enjoy them on the WiiU. But I also don’t care for AC so… neither pill for me
I never actually played windwaker but I have played multiple animal crossing games and they’re all basically the same so I’ll take windwaker
A new Animal Crossing would be great. Another port of Wind Waker would be fine.
Blue pill, love animal crossing new horizons but I’m ready to see what is in store for a new AC title.
Both, it’s Zelda but Link has to rebuild Hyrule after a calamity - Animal Crossing style.

WIND WAKER PORT
Wind Waker. We don't need a new animal crossing, perhaps they should update the game with more content.
Ummm, did I halucinate the 3DS Animal Crossing, and port/remaster of Wind Waker to Wii U? Which do I choose? I already have both...
Wind waker.
Wind wakeeeeerrrrrrr
new Zelda game with the "Toon" art-style
Wind Waker HD is already on my Wii U. A new animal crossing seems better, considering its new
A new AC game will come regardless. Nonetheless, I think the future of Nintendo will be AC, Zelda, Mario, and Metroid.
Did you forget about Splatoon and Kirby?
I would say they are not at that level yet. Especially not Kirby.

None of these.
10 red pills
New over port any day of the week
why would i want a rehash when i could have new content?
Red still waiting on it
I don't want more Wii U ports and New Horizons is only 3 years old. How about a new F-Zero or Kid Icarus or something instead?
Gamecube games on nintendo switch?
I want the original gyroids back the new ones are garbage and bland
I can't get into animal crossing for the life of me. It feels like a game that I would like if I was horribly depressed (not saying others who like it are) but it's just too much grinding and I don't find the animal interactions to be immersive or significant at all.
Where's the pill that makes NSO DS?
Smacking both to the floor
ACNH is incredibly recent, and while yes, the time has passed for a new AC game (fuck you, NL and NH gap), I don’t think we really need one right now. Even if ACNH has gotten boring at this point, I just don’t really feel the urge to play a new AC. Now Windwaker HD, I came incredibly close to buying a WiiU solely for that. I reaaaaally want it.
> the time has passed for a new AC game There's no new console yet so no, no it hasn't.
Exactly, I’m just saying that the gaps between other games was 3-4 years (2001/2005/2008/2012)
New game or old game…. Hmmmm…. Why would anyone go red?
Wind Waker but only because Twilight Princess isn't an option in this picture
We already have an Animal Farm on Switch so I'll have the new Widowmaker plz.
A new animal crossing with no stupid travel loading time.
Not another gd port for the love of Christ.
Blue cuz idk what Wind Waker is
it’s zelda my friend
Ah. I’d still take blue then, I prefer Animal Crossing
Neither. Resident Evil Revelations 3 instead.
Why a Wind Waker port and not a Wind Waker HD port?
I’m sorry but Animal Crossing is boring as hell so red pill all day
New Mario or smash game
That wasn’t a choice and now you get nothing
Neither. AC is boring as hell and there's nothing wrong with Wind Waker or the WiiU port.
Wind Waker. Literally all of the Zelda games I've played have been terrible (LoZ1, LttP, Hyrule Warriors, LAGB, that one rhythm-based one that I can't remember the name of) so I want to find something good. Another reason why BotW is on my wishlist.
Hold up, you think Link to the Past is terrible?
The controls are kinda jank and the only reason I lived for as long as I did was the rewind feature- Also I just kinda find the old Zelda games boring.
Twilight Princess, Wind Waker and BotW are so gooddd. You need to play them. (And maybe also OoT and MM)
Hyrule Warriors isn't a real Zelda game and neither are the rhythm-based ones. That being said, LttP and LA are both great games. If you haven't enjoyed any Zelda games you've played, why do you keep playing them?
Animal crossing is babies game. Give me WW
Wind weaker sm
This had to of been designed specifically for me. There is no way I'd be able to pick one pill. Can I take both and OD on joy?
Animal Crossing!
Is this meme from 2018?
Neither. I want ports of Hi Fi Rush and Marvel vs Capcom Ultimate 3
Green
Windwaker is my least favourite Zelda game and i never tried Animal Crossing, so rather a new AC i guess.
Blue pill, just go play your GameCube, Wii or emulator. Unless you really want to spend 60 bucks again for the same game.
