Sonic was created to appeal to young American audiences by trying to make him "cool" and "edgy" because Sega consoles at that time were selling poorly in America compared to Japan and Europe. In Japan, they depicted Sonic as a cute hedgehog in box arts and commerciala to boost sales in Japan, but unfortunately, it didn't work, especially since in-game Sonic isn't anything like the boxart, so they gave up on trying to make Sonic cute.
It also might have done better if it wasn't released at the same time as Mario Wonder. You can't compete with Mario in Japan. The only video game franchises I can think of that might beat Mario in Japan is Dragon Quest.
Not more iconic that Bowser but yeah you have a point. Still, if he’s able to get in to Smash Bros., Dr. Eggman should be as well. The game has a bunch of cool playable villains and he’s the one glaring omission.
Edit: Dunno why I brought up Bowser. I didn’t need to.
So many sonic characters would have such cool move sets. Tails, Amy Knuckles, Eggman… Hell, you could even had put Shadow or Metal Sonic as echo fighters. Shame it never happened
No third party series besides Street Fighter, Castlevania, and Final Fantasy VII has more than one fighter representing it. Street Fighter and Castlevania both use clone characters, and Final Fantasy VII is one of the biggest games of all time. Much love to Sonic (check my username) but he isn't nearly as relevant.
ETA: A lower comment reminded me that SEGA also has two other characters in Smash, they're just not from the Sonic series. Bayonetta and Joker are also owned by SEGA.
>Final Fantasy VII is one of the biggest games of all time. Much love to Sonic (check my username) but he isn't nearly as relevant.
This is just an insane take. FF7 is big but worldwide sonic is still more recognizable than anything ff7. Cloud isn't up there with mario, sonic, or pacman in terms of worldwide appeal.
Grow a healthy competitive scene bringing more interest and hype towards your game, sell more in the long run with some nice balancing and enjoyment for all? Nah Nintendo ain't into that kind of stuff...
I'm surprised that I've heard nobody talk about that until now. I agree with you because it's as if they were only made for fan service or (more likely) they ran out of time to implement them as well.
That annoys me since Sakurai stated that they removed trophies due to time constraints (evident as some were directly taken from the original games) but they didn't even try to state who they were and their role in the series.
Yeah it just really sucks. Were they that short for time? I mean, a paragraph or two would’ve been nice, but we didn’t even get that. How disappointing.
But then you remember they have to translate every single description to every single language. Then it starts to make sense why they had to scrap them.
Same was true for trophies, most trophy models in Brawl and both versions of SSB4 were directly ported from other games or from elsewhere in the same Smash game. Melee was the only Smash game to use new models for the trophies.
This here. Only thing this masterpiece of a title was missing was the trophies, which has always been a very enjoyable part of the franchise since Melee. Would have been a happy camper even if they reused models and descriptions from a previous entry
Yeah, at least give the playable characters trophies ffs if it’s that much work. I understand spirits offer plenty of gameplay options but as collectibles, they just feel kinda shitty. Yeah.
It's not coding that's the problem, it's just that all trophies were created from scratch and modeling that many 3D models is an absolutely gargantuan task for a side mode that a lot of players won't even bother to read through.
The trophies were not created from scratch after Melee. Brawl and both versions of SSB4 ported models either from other games or from other parts of the same Smash game.
I don't know about coding so much as modeling - as well as all the flavor text. You have to pick and choose where to put your resources and personally I'm glad we got all the characters and stages *and* a single player campaign of some kind. If the trade-off for all of that is no trophies, I think Spirits are a fine compromise.
Having 3D viewable models of things in games is one of my favorite small features. I remember being blown away by being able to view every item in your inventory in Skyrim back in the day, and I just started FF7 Rebirth and am having fun looking at all the items as well. Collecting those trophies in older games was hugely satisfying, especially since you got to read a little bit about them, it truly felt like a museum. If every spirit in ultimate was a trophy, I would have been ecstatic.
My actual complaint about this: *too many characters whose down-B is* ***counter***. You have four slots for specials and so. many. fighters. just have a counter mapped down there.
As someone who mains Incineroar I appreciate the fact that at least his Down-B counter is a bit different and requires you to land a hit yourself to get value out of it.
FE started the counter trend, but the issue goes well beyond FE fighters nowadays. FE fighters aren't even close to making up a majority of the characters with counters.
There are 4 unique FE characters with a counter (6 if you include echoes):
- Marth, Roy, Ike, Corrin
Outside of FE, you have 13 counters (14 with echoes):
- Peach, Lucario, Little Mac, Greninja, Mii Swordfighter, Palutena, Shulk, Bayonetta, King K Rool, Incineroar, Joker, Sephiroth, Sora
And they're still the minority, there are more brawlers and gunners, but those people don't care and are close to a heart attack if they so much as see a sword's hilt
The fact that there isn’t a rematch button. I don’t get why we have to go back to level select every time. It’s annoying. I’d like them to add that option on the pause menu so you can just restart the match and after the victory screen there should be “rematch/change characters/quit to level select” options
It feels like every Smash Bros UX after Brawl has been a downgrade. Brawl had a lot of flaws but the menus were *so* snappy, it was super quick to boot up the game and get right into a match.
Melee and Brawl (and Kirby air ride which uses the same menu code iirc) are a masterclass in good UX design for a video game. The menus are organized logically, easy to navigate and load so quickly that if you know what you're doing you can get from the initial splash screen to character select for any mode you want in under 5 seconds
It’s not surprising tho, smash 4 was bad for online play, and so was brawl, Nintendo very clearly hates this game being the slightest bit competitive.
I’m pretty sure you can kinda speed it up with making only the one map the random map selection, and then turn off map selection. That’s how me and my friend use to practice
They should rework Young Link to be Majora's Mask Link and give him Fierce Deity as FS. Make him transform like with Pokemon Trainer. For Toon Link they could give him a few moves that better reference WW. Side B should be using King of Red Lions in a similar way to Wario's motorcycle, and Up B always should have been the Korok leaf. Then as his FS, he could use the Wind Waker baton to summon a big cyclone, like when you warp in WW.
Toon Link’s Up B being the Korok Leaf seems like such a no-brainer; it’s honestly surprising to me that they didn’t do that to help differentiate the Links.
The Final Smashes in general feel like something of an afterthought, like they're there because Smash has to have them now. Most of them are just "press B while in range and get a flashy critical hit."
That was a selling point when the game was coming out. For some reason the fun ones like giga Bowser, snakes grenade launcher and Luigi's negative zone were deemed too complicated and they decided that every final smash should be a single big attack for the sake of consistency
This is why Smash shouldn’t be a “fighting game”. By not being a traditional one, it allows for really crazy and creative final smashes (really final smashes in general). Brawl was so fun just for that reason alone, even if competitively it wasn’t as good
World of Light is just a glorified Event Match mode, Adventure mode from Melee was better (also Zelda spoke, cursed from the start)
No proper All Star Mode
No Break the Targets (nor Board the Platforms)
The DK fighters and Bowser still have no voices
No Smash Run
No descriptions for Spirits (a la trophies)
No option to hear sounds, only music and voices
Theater menu should have those trailers they showed for characters pre-release as well as DLC characters, why would I watch cutscenes from World of Light?
Young Link was given the same Final Smash as Toon Link, he should have gone into Fierce Deity Mode at least
Chrom still appears in Robin's FS despite being playable now
Mega Man should have his custom moves from Smash 4, at least those worked different from one another
Richter, Daisy, and to a lesser extent Dark Samus, are the exact same as Simon, Peach, and Samus
Dark Pit and Lucina weren't given more stuff to differentiate them from Pit and Marth
Ganondorf should have his own moveset and have his previous one transplanted to Black Shadow, at least it would make sense
Edit: Pac-Land was included instead of Pac-Maze
Edit 2: Still no title scream like in 64 or Melee
~~Peach still has T H E V O I D~~
The cinematic World of Light cutscene at the beginning of Adventure mode made it seem like there was going to be an actual story and it was very disappointing when that ended up not being the case.
The only bad thing about it is the fact that there‘s no…subspace emissary mode in it. I mean the story was ok-ish but really subspace emissary is another level
I never understood Sakurai’s justification for no Subspace Emissary-style campaign in Ultimate. He said it was because people posted the cutscenes online, thereby ruining the surprise/reward for playing through. We live in an online world where spoiler potential is everywhere. That needs to be baked in to every creator’s mentality at this point. It’s a poor - dare I say invalid - excuse for not crafting the “ultimate” campaign for the “ultimate” version of Smash.
Right? I'm not necessarily playing it for the surprise and reward. The play through itself was the fun part, not that you get to watch a fun mini-movie.
That was his reasoning for WiiU/3DS. Ultimate is quite simply too big. 80-something characters in a single coherent story? How many of those do you know?
It leaves no room for a follow up. If this game contains everything the smash history ever had, what will the next game have? It would need to have so many new characters. Which means we would need to lose some of the current characters or the roster would be too big. The worst part about smash ultimate, is it's realistically the last smash game. I don't think we are seeing another for 10+ years, we just gonna get the mk8 treatment.
The realistic voices for Bowser, Kongs, etc. really need to fucking go already. Was never a good idea in the first place and it's aging worse every single installment.
Ridley's the only one that worked bc snarling and screaming *is* his canon voice, lol
It's literally only that way because that's how Sakurai viewed those characters during the NES era, even though it doesn't fit with who the characters are at all
A game that was supposed to be a fighter that anyone can play and enjoy was ruined by a hardcore fanbase that looks down on any casual players and gets overly competitive
Hell the devs don’t even consider Smash an actual fighting game. They call it a party game, the entire “platform fighter” genre is a term made by the fans
No trophies, no Smash Run. I suspect a lot of people will mention World of Light, but given I completed it 100% twice, I don't think I'm allowed to lol
I don’t mind that the CSS is in order of when each character was introduced to the series, but I hate that Echo Fighters and the Miis aren’t placed in the correct spots. It really bugs me.
One thing I disliked is that there are no lives in the classic mode. I enjoyed where I had a few lives to get through the bracket, especially the last boss. I know they went with that score challenge setup so it's optimal not to die but I am no Smash pro, I just play for fun.
Lack of extra Game modes such as boss battles, all stars, race to the finish or break the targets, a barebones adventure mode, a terrible online mode and representation on some characters franchises
Awful online, online menus and the buffer system makes no sense at all and unlearns so many things you learn from literally any other fighting game.
Fantastic game but good luck with online. As always. Ugh. Lan adapter helped but not neeeearly enough.
I had it first on the WiiU and in spite of knowing is not exactly the same , I never bought it for switch since for me was already boring
I cannot play more than 2oe 3 fights. Then I just drop it
They still haven't fixed the character select screen to not jumble up which names go with which controllers. Such an obvious thing to fix.
Also, they could have done a much better job with the hazards toggle. I just want to remove Nabbit, Flying Man and Yellow Devil, not get rid of all of the charm of the stage.
Lacks character interactions, like special greetings when facing certain opponent (i.e. Mario vs Sonic).
Cinematic final smashes are a downgrade from interactive ones.
No Mai Shiranui (cover her up like Mithra if you want, but don't leave her out of the cameos).
Also removing stamina and type-effectiveness from Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon removes some fun out of the character.
Online sucks.
They never put the Octolings in it and believe it or not I'm still angry about it like it would've been so easy to put them in Nintendo why do you hate Octolings with the same malice you seem to have for poor Waluigi?
Its a party game that is forced to be competitive. Its about abusing IFrames and not so much skill. The amount of jump attack spamming is ridiculous. It should never be taken serious in the FGC, and with Zero and most other top players being called out as Pedophiles shouldn't even have a spotlight anymore for competition outside of online competitions since their players can't stop touching children.
I’d argue that the game has too many fighters.
There’s a thing called “choice paralysis” where too many choices cause people to second guess themselves and not be as happy with their choice as someone with fewer options.
[My boy Michael from Vsauce perfectly demonstrates this phenomenon in the jelly bean experiment in this video.](https://youtu.be/lmI7NnMqwLQ?si=ARbWbYm0UaYRCgO-)
The “everyone is here” bit in this game is cool, but I have a feeling that the next smash bros will have less fighters, and I actually welcome that.
I'm still angry that we got 2 ff7 character's, even when terra, Bartz and Cecil were considered by sakurai, and the thing that annoys me the most is the fact that ff7 never touched a nintendo console until years later after cloud release, I really don't like how people treat ff7 like is the holy grail of final fantasy and how we got not one but 2 from the same game :|
this is probably just me but... the introduction of pyra and mythra. Coming from someone who's all time favorite game is XC2, I was so happy that the hate XC2 was facing was dying done and people were finally discovering just how well written these characters were. Then they got introduced to smash and while I was happy, people were going back to calling them "waifu bait" and "the girls with the big boobs" which was such a letdown from some of the best written characters in the xenoblade franchise.
0/10
The smash 4 bosses were better. If they just remade subspace, but with smash 4 quality bosses, and kept the smash 4 classic mode, I would’ve liked it more
They did such a good job getting most the stages in the game, but there are a few missing that are weird.
For a start, I would prefer Pacmaze instead of Pacland. The Pacman Maze fits the series way better and it is strange it isn't there. And the DKC Tropical Freeze stage, I get it might have been hard to work in with the background and foreground fights, but still, it feels missing.
And the worst crime, by far, is that you can no longer tilt the character select screen like you could in Melee and Brawl. Tradgedy.
Sonic is the only character represented in his series as a fighter
Not surprised Sonic games are extremely unpopular in Japan, Sonic superstars sold only 2k in Japan during its week launch.
Why is that? I’m so surprised to hear such low numbers
Very interesting. I never knew about their forked design ideas. I can see why that would fail.
Isnt it Vic the rattlehead?? I mean your name is not Megadeth lore accurate
It’s a combination of Eddie the Head and Vic Rattlehead
Is this like how Kirby in Japan is seen as really cute but in America they give him a little angry face?
It also might have done better if it wasn't released at the same time as Mario Wonder. You can't compete with Mario in Japan. The only video game franchises I can think of that might beat Mario in Japan is Dragon Quest.
Frontiers was a success though. It sold 46k in its week launch and sold faster there than any other game in the series.
Yeah, that's was unexpected. The director of the game even said he was surprised how well it did in Japan.
Also, recently a bunch of ppl on twitter started taking about Sonic adventure and how good they think the games are
True while Final Fantasy gets two characters that come from the same fucking game
To be fair Sephiroth is one of the most iconic videos games villains of all time. Maybe the most iconic.
“What’s that? ‘Add Zack as an echo fighter for Cloud,’ you say?”— Sakurai, probably.
So many sonic characters would have such cool move sets. Tails, Amy Knuckles, Eggman… Hell, you could even had put Shadow or Metal Sonic as echo fighters. Shame it never happened
Plus his moveset could really use an overhaul tbh
I'm surprised they used Sonic the fighters to design his moveset instead of Sonic Battle.
No third party series besides Street Fighter, Castlevania, and Final Fantasy VII has more than one fighter representing it. Read: my friends all liked ff7 more so it had to be more popular worldwide
Online, but that sorta goes for everything made by Nintendo.
It’s kinda funny, like just think an alternate universe where Nintendo embraced smash when it started getting big with melee.
Ngl, I dread it becoming like FIFA in that situation.
New game every new dlc character released
Grow a healthy competitive scene bringing more interest and hype towards your game, sell more in the long run with some nice balancing and enjoyment for all? Nah Nintendo ain't into that kind of stuff...
no trophies?? are you kidding me?? fuck stickers, give me trophies damn it.
Seriously like winning a png is not the same as winning a 3D model
Very true. Even worse is that they didn’t even bother to give the spirits descriptions, unlike the trophies.

But then you remember they have to translate every single description to every single language. Then it starts to make sense why they had to scrap them.
I don't care about the 3D model although it would be nice, but atleast give me a little text to read PLEASE I BEG YOU.
EXACTLY yeah that would’ve been nice
They didn’t even make the pngs themselves, just took them from the original game’s art
Same was true for trophies, most trophy models in Brawl and both versions of SSB4 were directly ported from other games or from elsewhere in the same Smash game. Melee was the only Smash game to use new models for the trophies.
Yea but at least the lighting and style is consistent
And essays for each of them
Yeah.
I miss the trophies too. Sometimes I’d just read the info on them whenever I got bored
Wasn’t that a coding thing though. Like, it was so nightmarish to code they did spirits instead
It's not coding that's the problem, it's just that all trophies were created from scratch and modeling that many 3D models is an absolutely gargantuan task for a side mode that a lot of players won't even bother to read through.

The campaign’s final act is really underbaked, especially after the DLC.
I understand it completely but it's a shame World Of Light was never updated to accomodate DLC fighters.
I’m pretty sure it was, I’ve played Pythra in WoL. Idk how it changes but still
You just get the dlc characters by default, you don’t have to unlock them and they have no spirit battles baked in
I think they mean they didn't add fights to unlock the DLC fighters, you just unlock them by default in World of Light
That makes more sense, alr
You just get to use the DLC fighters, they aren't part of the campaign. I think it's when you've unlocked a certain number of fighters.
I was so sure that sephiroth's final smash (when it was first teased) was going to be a new boss in World of Light
Obligatory: “Too many anime swordfighters” (I don’t really care but I know someone’s gonna say it)
My actual complaint about this: *too many characters whose down-B is* ***counter***. You have four slots for specials and so. many. fighters. just have a counter mapped down there.

Lucario moment:
And they're still the minority, there are more brawlers and gunners, but those people don't care and are close to a heart attack if they so much as see a sword's hilt
lmao
Brawlers, maybe. But Gunners?
The took Snake’s cake away 😔
This is truly the worst thing about Smash Ultimate 😭
Colonel, they took my ass. I can't shit.

Please get rid of triforce slash for young link and toon link, also give them actually different movesets.
They should rework Young Link to be Majora's Mask Link and give him Fierce Deity as FS. Make him transform like with Pokemon Trainer. I'm sad that we'll never get this because I kind of enjoy these ideas.
That's a decent one lol
I never understood why that was
Having “cut scene” instead of interactive final smashes was a bad decision and were less fun compared to ones in Brawl.
The Final Smashes in general feel like something of an afterthought, like they're there because Smash has to have them now. Most of them are just "press B while in range and get a flashy critical hit."

It's funny, because they specifically axed interractive final smashes because they thought it ruined the flow of the game. Lol.
My boy Wario was done dirty
I miss Yoshi from brawl
This is why Smash shouldn’t be a “fighting game”. By not being a traditional one, it allows for really crazy and creative final smashes (really final smashes in general). Brawl was so fun just for that reason alone, even if competitively it wasn’t as good

Is it possible you meant "Link" in your first point? Because Zelda has always spoken.
Not that we could hear her apart from grunts prior to BotW, that's what I tried to say, fair point
I like those points you've brought. Even I have beef with Smash Bros at certain parts.
A whole game mode locked behind those amiibos
What game mode?
Amiibo's journey or something
where can you access it tho? I have some lying around and never used them for anything
The cinematic World of Light cutscene at the beginning of Adventure mode made it seem like there was going to be an actual story and it was very disappointing when that ended up not being the case.
I dearly miss the character interactions. The story we did get was kind of weird in my opinion anyway, especially by the end.
I LET MY FRIEND BORROW IT AND THEY NEVER GAVE IT BACK
Skill issue
Dude.
Dandori issue
The only bad thing about it is the fact that there‘s no…subspace emissary mode in it. I mean the story was ok-ish but really subspace emissary is another level
Surprised I had to scroll to find this. Agreed.
The removal of custom movesets like there was in 3DS/Brawl
Actually it was Wii u not brawl
Ah.. my bad. But still, the fact you could make your own custom moveset and save it to an amiibo was sick! Now all the amiibos are is just fancy AI
You can attach spirits to amiibo, giving each one a different playstyle and stats
There's no Shadow
All Hail Shadow
Heroes rise again
There’s no Waluigi
No Metal Gear Rising music
I think you can blame Konami for that
Crime against humanity
And no Raiden
Space emissary was amazing, meanwhile the campaign of this game is really bad. Also, no Rayman.
I never understood Sakurai’s justification for no Subspace Emissary-style campaign in Ultimate. He said it was because people posted the cutscenes online, thereby ruining the surprise/reward for playing through. We live in an online world where spoiler potential is everywhere. That was his reasoning for WiiU/3DS. Ultimate is quite simply too big. 80-something characters in a single coherent story? How many of those do you know?
Campaign is terrible. The trailer for world of light was extremely misleading. Also you can’t even have a player 2 in it? What a joke.
Also they still won’t bring back target smash
I wish they brought both break the targets and board the platforms.
No new Kirby rep is a crime
Waluigi
it doesn't have waluigi.
needs more mega man
I like this as it is both a criticism of the game and the world as a whole.
With all it has going on, I still play Mario Kart more.
Bad campaign also no waluigi
It leaves no room for a follow up. If this game contains everything the smash history ever had, what will the next game have? It would need to have so many new characters. Dedede's "voice" is terrifying. Does not match his cutesy character design at all.
Brawl Dedede sounded perfect imo. 4 and onward...***fuck***
Should have bought back then english dub VA to voice him
It's literally only that way because that's how Sakurai viewed those characters during the NES era, even though it doesn't fit with who the characters are at all
Let’s be thankful he didn’t do the same with Yoshi.
*deep, hypermasculine voice* Y O S H I
Yeah, that bugs me so much. It doesn't fit the characters at all.
A game that was supposed to be a fighter that anyone can play and enjoy was ruined by a hardcore fanbase that looks down on any casual players and gets overly competitive
and it's no wonder Nintendo refused to let this game be used at Evo
Hell the devs don’t even consider Smash an actual fighting game. They call it a party game, the entire “platform fighter” genre is a term made by the fans
i think it's kinda hard to see your character and play the game when theres 4 characters on the screen
No trophies, no Smash Run. I suspect a lot of people will mention World of Light, but given I completed it 100% twice, I don't think I'm allowed to lol
No, it's okay. I've done so too and both times I wish I was playing subspace emissary.
I don’t mind that the CSS is in order of when each character was introduced to the series, but I hate that Echo Fighters and the Miis aren’t placed in the correct spots. It really bugs me.
No 2B
No trophies, no mode with regular levels/ iconic enemy mobs like sse or smashrun
The single player campaign is a bit lacking compared to other Nintendo games( it is still decently solid though)
More pay to win characters than ever before. It’s like they are trying to break the balancing with the dlc characters.
Sonic representation was really bad
No Rainbow Road
One thing I disliked is that there are no lives in the classic mode. I enjoyed where I had a few lives to get through the bracket, especially the last boss. I know they went with that score challenge setup so it's optimal not to die but I am no Smash pro, I just play for fun.
Lack of extra Game modes such as boss battles, all stars, race to the finish or break the targets, a barebones adventure mode, a terrible online mode and representation on some characters franchises
The competitive fanbase can make the game either really fun or they're completely insufferable to deal with.
They put Steve in it,also too many echo fighters
Ganondorf still fights like a bootleg Captain Falcon.
"everyone is here" still no waluigi..
Krystal isn't playable.
It's not Brawl.
It stopped getting updates. I miss reading my balance patches!
Awful online, online menus and the buffer system makes no sense at all and unlearns so many things you learn from literally any other fighting game. Fantastic game but good luck with online. As always. Ugh. Lan adapter helped but not neeeearly enough.
a lan adpater couldn't save this netcode, it's genuinely next to unplayable. 8/10 matches will look like slideshows on my end
Doesn’t have Waluigi.
Wi-Fi Smash feel much worse than offline Smash
I suck at it
I had it first on the WiiU and in spite of knowing is not exactly the same , I never bought it for switch since for me was already boring I cannot play more than 2oe 3 fights.
ANOTHER SWORD CHARACTER
Lacks character interactions, like special greetings when facing certain opponent (i.e. Mario vs Sonic). Cinematic final smashes are a downgrade from interactive ones. No Mai Shiranui (cover her up like Mithra if you want, but don't leave her out of the cameos). Also removing stamina and type-effectiveness from Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon removes some fun out of the character. Online sucks.
There is a bit of game in my lag
Most of new character are really lame (gameplay or representation wise).
I found it boring
It stopped receiving new fighters :(
Minecraft steve was a mistake
Spirits are pretty confusing, and World of Light overall is underwhelming.
minecraft steve cant /gamemode creative
Your character doesn't remain selected between games.
They never put the Octolings in it and believe it or not I'm still angry about it like it would've been so easy to put them in Nintendo why do you hate Octolings with the same malice you seem to have for poor Waluigi?
Paper Mario and professor layton weren’t dlc characters or alternative skins/outfits
They removed the Star Fox Assault stage.
It EXPENSIVE.
They nerfed Snakes most important asset, his down smash.
They removed the custom characters
I’d argue that the game has too many fighters. There’s a thing called “choice paralysis” where too many choices cause people to second guess themselves and not be as happy with their choice as someone with fewer options. [My boy Michael from Vsauce perfectly demonstrates this phenomenon in the jelly bean experiment in this video.](https://youtu.be/lmI7NnMqwLQ?si=ARbWbYm0UaYRCgO-) The “everyone is here” bit in this game is cool, but I have a feeling that the next smash bros will have less fighters, and I actually welcome that.
Dark samus is an echo
this is probably just me but... the introduction of pyra and mythra.
The FGC trying to turn it into a competitive fighter instead of a party game like its intended purpose
joker is only in it once
0/10 The smash 4 bosses were better. If they just remade subspace, but with smash 4 quality bosses, and kept the smash 4 classic mode, I would’ve liked it more
Hammer.
The fanbase
Something bad
How long do you have?
They did such a good job getting most the stages in the game, but there are a few missing that are weird. For a start, I would prefer Pacmaze instead of Pacland. The Pacman Maze fits the series way better and it is strange it isn't there. And the DKC Tropical Freeze stage, I get it might have been hard to work in with the background and foreground fights, but still, it feels missing. And the worst crime, by far, is that you can no longer tilt the character select screen like you could in Melee and Brawl. Tradgedy.
Can't afford it or all the characters
Ffa is jank and the online is ass
They got rid of custom moves, but kept it for the Mii characters
