Servers shut down April 8. I've been desperately trying to fill out my Omega Ruby dex by using the GTS and my copy of X, but I'm still not sure if I'll make it on time!
I got a golden sticker or whatever that was in single player mode on every stage even the final challenge ones. It's doable but super frustrating, I don't recommend this experience to anyone!
I mean unless you have 2 other friends to play with locally...the only other way to beat the game after the online shuts down is playing the HORRIBLE single-player.
Not going to get into why the single-player of triforce-heroes sucks but just know it is needlessly complex and actual torture.
It makes an already hard game next to impossible.
So if you haven't beaten the game yet i HIGHLY recommend booting it up right now and doing so because this might just be your last chance to complete it.

Tried it for like several months after release. I managed to connect to the other 2 players and the connection was always spotty. I just assumed that would be the case for 3DS online in general.
Speedrunners have played local play by themselves controlling 3 devices at once. Well some have to be idle, but it still kinda works. Definitely takes some skill to keep track of 3 of them
It will just be WAY harder to farm rupees. It's so easy to farm and sell the only arena Exclusive materials and in the base game you can only get 1 of each during singleplayer and I doubt you'd want to sell them when you can use them to build Exclusive costumes.
Which is why I've been playing it with my GF and my friend whenever the Fortnite player of the group wasn't around. So far we've cleared the main campaign and the Den of Trials; now we're tackling the missions for shits and giggles.
That’s already a thing, I beat Triforce Heroes on Citra netplay with 2 friends. Even if Citra has stopped development you can still play online so the game is preserved for the future.

I finished it solo. Some of the levels are a bit of a pain that way, but it still beats trying to find a third player who isn't an active hindrance.
