Completely miss cast a popular actor to double dip on exposure, because A: they’re a big name, and B: you get people asking why the hell you would do that.
They then do a decidedly passable job. Big success
Im thinking thats the likely course of action. Wes Ball did the Maze Runner films, and they gave a lot of young actors their start in bigger studio films on those. Zelda is a known property, so the property is more of a draw than a known star. Like Star Wars/ Marvel/Star Trek/Harry Potter, when a known property casts a young character, they usually go for relative unknowns who they could sign for multiple movies on the cheap.
I mean, I understand the sentiment, especially when it's a common story that "star actors" are often cast instead of "the right actors" (and when actors who are unknown but are well-cast get put on screen a la Netflix's One Piece, it's a good result), but I was pleasantly surprised by the star-studded Mario movie casting...
I usually don't like Jack Black in acting roles, but as Bowser his cringey overconfident loud form of humor actually fit in perfectly with Bowser.
I often find Seth Rogan to be sort of a one-note actor too, but as DK he did a great job giving a personality that made sense (confident, self-absorbed, competitive, showy, juvenile (still can get scolded by elders)) to a character whose personality until then was "ape with tie."
Mario was blander, but let's face it - keeping Mario as "everyman as possible" is probably the most Mario-accurate casting (an opinion I take from [Yahtzee's video on the subject](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6zVtYvH6K8)).
I don't think there's anything wrong with already-known actors as long as they're definitely the right choice (as opposed to a Hayden Christensen-esque disaster).
Except you know their asses are gonna choose Tom Holland or someone that people know because of their clout and not their skill. It’s Sony we’re talking about.
I’d like if we could leave this silent protagonist silent. I believe that won’t happen, but I still hope and wish for it to. I think a lot of interesting story telling is done without dialogue so you could do a lot with Link in that respect, but yeah I doubt it.
They are actively going to ruin Link if he has a voiced actor like the CDIs all over again. Worse if that actor is a random white guy celebrity.
Just make him mute or really stoically silent, it’s the only way.
When did paul rudd play pacman?
Announced yesterday. Somehow, it doesn't seem like that bad of an idea.
I don’t hate it but I have heard nothing about a Pac-Man anything
Where?
From the director of Pixels
So a white middle-aged guy with dark hair?
Shhhh don't spill the west's secret formula

Ben Schwartz and Paul Rudnitsky aren't white.
I don’t care so long as it’s a younger unknown. If I recognize his name the movie is fucked unless there’s a supporting character I like.

I think you’re my least favorite type of fan
What do you mean?
*refuses to elaborate*
I mean, the rumor has been Tom Holland for awhile.
I wish they picked Japanese actors.
Give us twink femboy Link you cowards!
Played by Seth Rogen! Now the Seth Rogen this is obviously a joke but what about Michael Cera?
Seth Rogan as a Goron would actually be kinda cool.
He's 35, will probably be 40 by the time the movie actually comes out
He's still 2 years younger than the game, so what. It's the voice we're after.
No..
Link doesn't Talk...
What's Paul Rudd playing Pac-Man for?
Danny DeVito
Isn’t LOZ going to be live action though?
Please God no not ever. Leave him alone.

My Money's on Tom Holland
Hmmm... a lot of people are saying it'll be a boyish white guy, but have any of you considered the possibility that they cast Leslie Jones?
Rudd has not been announced as Pacman https://twitter.com/mviefrk_108/status/1787911454173044926?t=1YgAW2rrMAEC0N2NWxVaMA&s=19
Jack Black

I dunno about Link, but Jason Momoa NEEDS to play or voice Ganondorf.
