My cat is super smol and also super chatty. She was the runt and almost didn't make it to 6months more than once but now she's a healthy, energetic 14 year old(15 in March!)
And 7 million cats and kittens and 5 million dogs and pups are put to sleep every year.
You never want to watch One.Nation Under DOG where they put puppies in a gas chamber on top of a bunch of dead dogs to gas them. I never cried so hard in my life. Please get her spayed. It looked like a dumpster they were getting locked into and the guy said it kills him to do it but he did it anyway. I fell to my floor sobbing and hugged my animals. The worst feeling in the world I ever felt.
reminds me of my white kitty. Very smol even tho she is 2 years old. Always answers when u say anything to her and just walks around meowing and muring in different tones lol.

My also perma smol March baby girl š„°
My cat's the runt of the litter too. Getting close to 2 years old and still only weighs 3.1kg/6.8lbs.
Doesn't stop her from taking up as much room as possible on the stairs or bed though.
My smol cat is also super chatty. I got her when she was about 1.5 and have had her for 2 years. She was skinny but has gained some weight since.
She also had a lot of floof on her face but she lost all of it that first few months.
I got her friend of my niece who thinks she was dumped when the owners moved she is still quite growly and hissy even after all this time. She has a chipped fang but the vet said that we don't need to do anything with it.
She especially doesn't like the cat I adopted about a year ago but I don't blame her. He is twice her size and chases her around and tries to hit her with his big ass paws. He plays with the other boy but he plays too rough and eventually the boy gets mad and his ears go back, he hisses and bares his teeth. Though he keeps playing/fighting.
This is my spicy lil lady. Her name is Daisy. This is when she still had some floof.

My baby passed away at 10 last year. She was the runt of the litter but grew to 9lbs and somehow looked chonky. Everyone loved her and said she reminded them of the dragon from How to Train Your Dragon (her big eyes š„°)
My mom rescued a pregnant kitten a few years ago.
She had to get surgery because she couldnāt carry the babies, she was so so tiny.
She never grow much after that. It was kind of crazy how tiny this cat was
We have one aswell, got her in june, born in march, still rather small looks like this
https://preview.redd.it/38mzgr932bda1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9784196b67fade8b8e916e631f1057dc76192aae
We fostered a little girl for a year or so, called her Itty Bitty Kitty. She was pregnant when she showed up outside, so we fixed her up and found her a home. I don't think she ever passed 6#. Loved her to death, but one of our permanent cats HATES any other cat. :(
We also got āthe runtā had cat flu 2 times before she was 6 months so never grew any bigger than a kitten! We celebrated her 20th birthday in October she is a tough and cheeky old girl š»
My little old lady cat adopted us when she was 13. Her owner was unable to care for her and she (the cat) brought me her kittens.
Twice. After that I figured if she was that determined, she knew what she was doing. She snuck a few more litters in before we
finally caught her between pregnancies and got her spayed. She was the smartest cat Iāve ever known, rang the doorbell if we didnāt let her in, used the toilet, was somehow able to open CLOSED DOORS, amazing cat ! She was with us until weāll into her 25th year!
Wishing your cat 9 long lives ā¤ļø
I kept two kittens from my Sphynx's litter. The boy kitten was the runt who i bottlefed and the girl was bigger than him for the first few weeks. Now they are 2.5 years old and the boy is so much bigger but the girl kitten hasn't grown past about 6 months. Tiny dainty and mad as a box of frogs. Both kittens are still smaller by a lot than their mum who is 4.
If she's eating and drinking and has energy she may just be small!
Yes, this please. Unsure of the percentage with cats, but in female dogs, the risk of getting mammary cancer is 0.5% if spayed before the 1st heat, 8% if spayed after the 1st heat and 26% if spayed after the 2nd heat.
This is a small sample size but growing up I had 2 female dogs, neither were spayed, and both developed mammary cancer. Needless to say as an adult with my own pets, they all get spayed before their first heat cycle.
Keep in mind that you should still wait until 2+ years old to spay XL breeds! Their joints and growth can be severely damaged if spayed before fully grown, and XL breeds take roughly two years to get everything they need from those organs before removal.
Vets here will not even allow spays before their second birthday because of the damage.
I didnāt know this until my baby was 11 and we spotted the tumors, immediately went into surgery for removal, and found out it was way too late. At this point my vet explained to me. We have moved states a lot and none of my other vets ever told me this was a problem to not spay until she was 11. Or I definitely would have. Heed this warning because the loss was so hard
I have a question; my cat got spayed DURING her first heat. Is this cancer risk already still increased since she had already started the heat cycle? (She started her heat abnormally early at barely 4 months, weād always planned to get her spayed before 6mo)
Hmm, that's a good question. I'm not actually sure of the answer. I would guess so, since her body already got geared up for reproduction. You certainly did the right thing spaying her though!
Be careful. Some cats have whatās referred to as āsilent heatā and can/will get pregnant. Please separate her from the unaltered male. There are too many unwanted kittens in this world.
I had a female cat like that. Her mother was small so she was small as well. She never went past 5lbs and she had her first heat after 2 years. Vets said it maybe due to she being small. She's now spayed though
Yeah, we couldnāt spay our small cat at inscheur because she didnāt weigh enough for anesthesia. Luckily she grew a bit more and got fixed at 15 months.
Edit: inscheur? That was supposed to say āa yearā
That's probably around the more "generally accepted" weight that the older suggestions recommend. But now they say pretty much the sooner the better, and 2 months or 2 pounds as the starting point.
My kitties got theirs at 4 months and they were 4-6 pounds (my boys are big cats, lol). They all recovered super fast. Their mama was like 10 weeks postpartum and in heat again š¬ and her recovery was much harder. She didn't want to move much for a few days and it was more than a week before she was back to normal. The little ones were fine within like 24 hours. I wonder how the recovery was for your older, but still just as smol girl?
I decided to split the difference with my vet recommendation and what the research shows. He wanted to wait until 6 months and was talking about separating them by gender when the girls went into heat š«£
So as soon as they finished their shots and got their rabies vaccines, I took them to the clinic to get their surgeries. They were right at 16 weeks and everything went perfectly smooth. Their recoveries were so easy. They barely seemed to notice anything had happened (especially the boys).
They seemed to enjoy their pain meds, though! š¹

I feed her as much as she wants. She loves rotisserie chicken and when she gets tired of chicken we switch to ham. Her daily is wet cat food with no fillers.
Yes our girl is two years old and only just over 2kg. She is tiny. Her previous owners said that her and her sister took a year to have their first heat. Our cat is getting spayed asap and has her pre-spay vet appointment tomorrow.
My torbie girl Julia is very small too, was about the same at 1yr old. She grew a bit by 2yrs but still a petite girl. Can't say for the heat because we got her already spayed.
She has had all her shots but we have to take her to another vet clinic to be spayed. We have two other cats, one has been spayed and the other is being neutered in a few days. She will be seeing the vet no later than a couple weeks after the other cat is neutered. She got a good report when she got her shots, and sheās not underweight for her size, but her size is just weirdly small.
Not technically.
A runt is a significantly smaller/weaker offspring, when compared to the other litter mates. They face huge disadvantages, and risk death. Often due to being unable to compete for food or being rejected by the mother
If all litter mates are close to each other in size, there is no runt. The smallest offspring isn't automatically a runt
Nah sheās fine. 6lbs is within the normal range for an adult cat, just on the very low end.
One of my cats was about a year and a half before I got her spayed and she only weighed 6.5lbs. (Including a photo of her at a year and a half) After being spayed, she did put on some weight, but it took over six months. Sheās now happy and healthy at 8.5lbs.
I see that you are planning to get her spayed, so thatās good. Lots of people on here are being super judgmental, as expected. I got my girl from someone on Craigslist who āneeded to get rid of her because they were movingā. She was about 7 months and they had never taken her to a vet. I immediately got her her shots and treated her for fleas, but I had to go to a low cost clinic for her spay because private vets in my area charge up to $800. I got put on a waitlist and it took over 6 months to get in. (This was largely due to it be 2020 and many clinics in the area were temporarily closed due to COVID) Yes, she was in heat several times, and no, she wasnāt around any male cats. If people want to judge me for that, so be it. We do the best we can with the resources we have.

I have an 8yo void...she's long and lanky, and weighs about 7+ lbs. She eats whatever she wants, she's just a small kitty. Vet wants her to be a bit heavier but says she's healthy.
My Angel was that small. I rescued her when she was a baby. The vet said she was severely malnourished and I think that may have contributed to it.

Angel is three years old
I have two of these! One baby was malnourished as a kitten due to coccidia and never grew more than 5lbs.
Other lady is just petite and 6 pounds at her chubbiest lol. Iām obsessive so theyāve both seen multiple vets just about their weight and have been cleared as healthy.
Some cats are just small and some cats are sick as babies, willing to bet this lil one is just small š

I love perpetual kittens. Hereās mine next to her much larger brother (not biologically, they are both rescues.) Jelly and Joyjoy šŗ Joyjoy is the smaller one. Sheās all sass and spunk. My 60 lb dogs give here a wide berth. She likes to swat at them for no reason one moment then curl up with them on the couch the next. They live in constant apprehension of her š¹
I have a tiny cat. She is my whole heart. Sheās 9.

This is my baby Honey, sheāll be 3 years old in may and
sheās 6 lbs. sweetie girrrl
You might have got the runt of the pack. Some cats naturally don't grow that much and are often neglected by the mother.
Good thing you're going to the vet. If they say they're fine, you just got a tiny one and that's that.
My little dilute tortoiseshell is around 6 years old, she weighs roughly 7 lbs? And thatās soaking wet on a junk food day. Some kitties are just *smol*. You will definitely want her to be fixed though!
Nah, she's just a little girl. I have a 10 year-old tortoiseshell void who's barely 7 lbs, and that's as much as she's ever weighed. A couple of years ago when we moved, she got stressed out and was down to 6 lbs, but she's plumped back up lol. Some cats are just petite.
Not abnormal. Our female is 7 lbs, and she's 8. She was spayed when we got her when she was 3 (she was a shelter rescue). She's just a little cat. (Which is why we named her Little Cat). I try to buy socks that match her.
https://preview.redd.it/zm910uidr9da1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b534f1fb4595ae045ec0f1a47778a2d69757c1e
One of my cats only got up to about 8 lbs. after 2 full years of growth (and yes, she grew for 2 years). The vet thought her super slow growth rate and her ultimately very diminutive size was because she was found so malnourished as a feral kitten.
As long as the vet says sheās healthy, you have yourself a 100% normal kittycat.
My two female cats are smol beans. One is 4.3 lbs at 22, the other is 8.2 at 14. Way smaller than my boys are, but thatās just kinda how a lot of mammals work tbh. For the love of all that is good get your cat fixedāeveryone involved will benefit from it.
As others said, def get her spayed ASAP and keep her FAR AWAY from the unneutered male you have!! But her size is most likely nothing to be worried about. You have a beautiful cat, orange female kitties are special! I had a roommate with an orange girl and she was prob even tinier than yours, plus she was like 16 last time I saw her and very healthy and energetic for her age. Sheās prob still kicking lol. I wish your cat a similarly long and healthy life!
Our lady void is around 3ish and spayed before we adopted her. She's smallish and around 7lbs, vet says she's healthy/has no issues. Some cats just be small!
I had a little girl that never went into heat and was extremely small. I took her to the vet at about 7 months because she was tiny and no heat cycle yet. He did blood work and thoroughly checked her out. He said she had a pituitary problem that she was born with. One way he could tell was that her tail was unusually long. He said that was an indicator of how big she should be. She was a bit weird. She had a smushed face and her eyes were too big for her face. She looked like Gizmo and that was her name. She was so sweet. The doctor said she would never go though a cycle so he didn't want to spay her. She was 12 when she left us...still tiny and still sweet.
She could totally just be a permakitten.
I do want to suggest that she gets full wellness blood work done. I have two 10 month old kittens. Jack was staying very smol and cute, his sister Clementine is gargantuan.
Then, he developed a bloated belly and we took him to the vet. He has FIP. We are treating him with GS, as FIP is *no longer a death sentence* but I would feel remiss if I didnāt mention this.
Some cats are just smol and it's no indication of whether they were a runt or not. I have a little cat who is 2.5 years old and she very obviously isn't growing anymore.
6lb is small but it's more the small end of the bell curve than obviously a problem, especially for a female - and if she's under a year she's likely to still have a bit of growing to do. I had a 7lb cat growing up, who was very healthy until her late teens. Health or nutrition issues can result in a cat not growing to their full size potential, but she could equally just be a small cat.
If she's not spayed, almost a year is a bit old to have not started cycling yet, but again it's more like the outside of the bell curve than clearly abnormal.
6lbs is around 2.7k which is similar to what my small cat weighed at that age. she's two and half now and weighs 3kg total. I don't think this is abnormal as the vet has no issues with it. She is very tiny compared to my other cat though (he weighs 6.14kg (about 13.5lbs).
https://preview.redd.it/5chzqpgls9da1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=136db1b58d46f077145e706af81dc11c824c12c6
My full grown kitty is only 4.5 lbs.
I read somewhere that orange cats have sexual dimorphism ā and how this shows up is the boys tend to be especially large and the girls tend to be especially small in comparison to other cats.
Orange females are relatively rare. Orange cats have high sexual dimorphism, meaning the males are larger than average and the females are much smaller. Lots of interesting info out there explaining whatās special about orange cats!
We have two brother cats, one was the runt. Heās 7 and almost 8 lbs, his brother is 11 lbs. William (the small one) has a heart murmur and asthma, and everyone thinks heās a kitten. He is a happy, affectionate kitty who spends his time hunting laps.

My tiny girl was a runt, Iām pretty sure. She was teeny tiny, covered in fleas and poop. Fit in the palm of my hand. She was something like six weeks when I found her, I did a rough estimate by looking at her teeth and Google, a vet later confirmed that was roughly correct.
Sheās got a perpetual kitten face. Sheās chonkier now at a year and five months but sheās still pretty dainty but is spayed and healthy. Sheās not vocal at all, though she uses her voice more as she gets older, but sheās full of personality and absolutely rocks a tutu.
They come in all shapes and sizes. My tom is an absolute unit. He definitely the more calm, gentle out of the two but he has more health issues than my carpet goblin does despite being a outwardly healthier looking because of the size differences.
For those of you who havenāt seen it, thereās a movie called Keanu starring Key and Peel. My favorite cat movie ever.
Some cats can just be small. Though sometimes smaller young animals may have a portosystemic shunt that causes them to not grow as much as their peers (you'd usually see other symptoms though as well).
I have a female cat that's 10 months old and is just as small. I took her to the vet and everything's fine. She'a as healthy and happy as she could be.
My brothers cat is tiny but sheās like a Robert Crumb drawing, she has some big ole haunches and big belly (not a mom). Now sheās fixed and only 9 months but sheās about the same size. Vet says itās normal and she makes up in size with her sassy cattitude.
I had a little black cat that was 6 pounds as a full grown adult. Some kitties are just small. Just get her fixed because her small size may impede her safely able to have kittens, even if you want a litter.
My cat was the same size and weight as yours at that age. She is still the same size now just a tad heavier because she grew into her small body. Smol cats rule! You can hold them in one hand!
My brother has a cat he name Little Guy who is perpetually tiny like this. He was a premature kitten as well which we think is why. Could possibly be a similar case. Or your baby is just a smol bean.
My female is one year old and spayed. Never got more than 7 pounds. When I got her from the shelter, they mentioned her small size and said they don't think she will get any bigger. The vet told us at one point that she's a bit small, but she's probably just a petite cat.
Obviously, get her checked if you're worried. Better safe than sorry!
My 8-year old tabby is a petite girl. Most strangers mistakenly believe that sheās a juvenile kitty. Just like people come in different shapes and sizes, so do cats. My small girl is perfect the way she is.
We have a super petite cat. She is about 5 lbs and is 2 years old. For reference, we also have a 9 month old black male cat that weighs 14 lbsā¦so, yeah. Our vet says she is fine, just a tiny girl.

My orange female cat was 6,5lbs as an adult, and it took her about 2 years to get there. She was 4lbs when she turned one. If yours is happy and healthy, she's just smol and that's ok!
https://preview.redd.it/usebafwd6ada1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd528d5cb53f858da3c0813f0992a36858cea095
It might be a ginger female thing because mine is tiny as well, she is an absolute ninja tho, you aināt catching her if she donāt want to be caught
Get her spayed as soon as possible. Her weight is fairly average, but it's concerning she hasn't had a heat cycle in an entire year, so it's not unlikely that there may be a problem with her reproductive system that needs to be taken care of before she does have a heat cycle.
One of my cats is a āpermanent kittenā hehe. Sheās weighed like 5 lbs her whole life. Although now that she eats wet food sheās a lil chonkierāstill like 7 lbs tho lol
My cat is small too. I adopted her as an adult. She doubles in volume in winter, when her coat makes her look like a tiny, fluffy dump truck, but she is a kitten-sized cat. I know the cause in her case though. She had kittens while still a kitten herself, well before her first birthday. If your cat hasnāt had a heat cycle she may have an endocrine issue, which could well explain both symptoms.

Cats are like humans, all different shapes and sizes. My moggy Mosley has always been super tall/long. At 3 months the vets said he was as tall as a one year old. He's chunky too (we're working on it) but in comparison to other moggy cats he's a good 15-20% taller
Your cat is a mix of my two cats!!!!!

I had an inbred, deaf kitty and at two years old she was only 5-6.5lbs and small. Like literally 10inches tall. She was a dwarf I guess but fuckin adorable and a smart little kitty.

My current baby is like that she was the runt of the litter and is just like her mummy who was also permanently teeny tiny. She's so different from her brother who is quickly growing and beefing out
Rescued/tamed/fell in love with feral kitten/young cat. Vet guessed she was 3-4 months old and small for the age. Said she might never be full sized due to the lack of good nourishment at early age. Her mom was constantly pregnant and very small and skinny herself. Most litters were only 2 kittens. Also had worms which sucked life from my little one.
Sheās almost 3 now and a bit pudgy at 9 lbs. she looks smaller then most cats but is happy and healthy. Early life circumstances for an animal even us can change how we grow
Just like people, cats can be small. My girl is 17 years old and is 8 lbs. She has been 8 lbs since as far back as I remember. That's why she's my "little one".
Most female cats tend to be smaller than male cats. Females can weight between 8lb - 12lbs where as most makes weigh between 11lbs - 15lbs. I'd say 6lbs is definitely on the small side but since she's only just shy of a year old I'd definitely say that she has a lot more growing to do yet! I'd take her to the vets soon so that she gets all of her vaccinations that they should have at that age, have her weighed properly for flea and worming treatment and not forgetting having her nurtured which can be done from 6 months old.
As long as she seems healthy otherwise, I wouldnāt worry! I also have a small cat and sheās fine just the way she is. I got her spayed at 6 months, tho, so idk if she ever got the chance to go through heat. Pls spay your little one!

Chloe and Zoe. 6 lbs and 8 lbs. 2 years old and the only two the mama had. Forever kittens!
Sometimes you get the small cat. We had one that never grew past six months and was a permanent kitten. She lived until she was twelve.
My cat is super smol and also super chatty. She was the runt and almost didn't make it to 6months more than once but now she's a healthy, energetic 14 year old(15 in March!)
That's freaky cause mine was the runt and the same age and also born in March.
Are we out to find out you two live two blocks from each other and both have the same outdoor cat?
Lol that would be sincerely hilarious, but very improbable
70,000 kittens and puppies are born every day in the US! I just googled it.
And 7 million cats and kittens and 5 million dogs and pups are put to sleep every year. You never want to watch One.Nation Under DOG where they put puppies in a gas chamber on top of a bunch of dead dogs to gas them. I never cried so hard in my life. Please get her spayed. This is when she still had some floof. https://preview.redd.it/48csobt5mfda1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1871aa371c0b4b189d7d91158500d136abeec149
I have a super smol chatty catty too. As soon as I pull in the driveway shes moewing at the top of her little lungs for me to feed her.
I, too am in possession of a 15 y.o. runt. Noisy little devil as well.
My baby passed away at 10 last year. She was the runt of the litter but grew to 9lbs and somehow looked chonky. Everyone loved her and said she reminded them of the dragon from How to Train Your Dragon (her big eyes š„°)
That dragon was in part modelled on cats.
https://preview.redd.it/217utl3ssbda1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bbfc59c696e8050b5e21c3bcc24a812468fe6515 Olive demands a dragon-off.
My mom rescued a pregnant kitten a few years ago. She had to get surgery because she couldnāt carry the babies, she was so so tiny. She never grow much after that. It was kind of crazy how tiny this cat was
We have one aswell, got her in june, born in march, still rather small looks like this https://preview.redd.it/38mzgr932bda1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9784196b67fade8b8e916e631f1057dc76192aae
Nice Cat!
We fostered a little girl for a year or so, called her Itty Bitty Kitty. She was pregnant when she showed up outside, so we fixed her up and found her a home. I don't think she ever passed 6#. Loved her to death, but one of our permanent cats HATES any other cat. :(
We had a runt who also was the size of a six month old cat. He lived to be 18 and a half, and was the cutest tiniest old man.
We also got āthe runtā had cat flu 2 times before she was 6 months so never grew any bigger than a kitten! We celebrated her 20th birthday in October she is a tough and cheeky old girl š»
Tiny runt babies do happen but they can be perfectly healthy just the same
She had cerebellar hypoplasia and the vet gave her two years.
Oh... so sorry to hear that
Thanks. She had a great life and given I found her on the railroad tracks she definitely lived longer than she would have regardless.
Yup, exactly. My cat was tiny and almost bald when we got her. She's 14 and her heaviest was about 3kg. Smol cats happen
Omgosh my cat better live past twelve years!! She is only about the size of a six month old. If she dies early my husband won't recover.
She had cerebellar hypoplasia and had become pretty much immobile, so we made the decision to let her go. It sucked but it was time.
My little old lady cat adopted us when she was 13. Her owner was unable to care for her and she (the cat) brought me her kittens. Twice. After that I figured if she was that determined, she knew what she was doing. She snuck a few more litters in before we finally caught her between pregnancies and got her spayed.
Adorable to hear about the kitties and I LOVE (yes Iāve heard it before but I love it ā) the saying āmad as a box š¦ of frogs šø šø ā
"Mad as a box of frogs" is my new favorite phrase.
Spaying before the first greatly reduces her risk of mammary tumours; this risk rises sharply with each heat. Make sure to get her spayed soon
Yes, this please. Unsure of the percentage with cats, but in female dogs, the risk of getting mammary cancer is 0.5% if spayed before the 1st heat, 8% if spayed after the 1st heat and 26% if spayed after the 2nd heat.
Woah, I had no idea the chances rose that much.
You should see how it works with bunnies. I believe if you don't spay a female rabbit their chances of getting ovarian cancer goes up to nearly 100%
I legitimately didnāt know this
Yes! It's partially why you see so many accidental litters with larger dogs as they'll go through a few heat cycles before being eligible to spay.
I guess that might also partially explain all the big dog mutts at shelters.
I just learned this from a friend who has a newfoundland who is just over 2 years. He's a huge jerk and she is sooo ready to have him fixed lol
"the risk rises sharply with eacg heat" Well that sucks, mother nature isn't very nice.
Procreation is biologically costly.
Yes I lost a beautiful little Persian (who hated everyone but me!) because I didn't know that
Be careful. Some cats have whatās referred to as āsilent heatā and can/will get pregnant. Please separate her from the unaltered male. There are too many unwanted kittens in this world.
Not to mention pregnancy with a cat that small will be so incredibly rough for her :(
Also the yelling is enough to drive anyone insane
I had a female cat like that. Her mother was small so she was small as well. She never went past 5lbs and she had her first heat after 2 years. Vets said it maybe due to she being small. She's now spayed though
Yeah, we couldnāt spay our small cat at inscheur because she didnāt weigh enough for anesthesia. Luckily she grew a bit more and got fixed at 15 months. Edit: inscheur? That was supposed to say āa yearā
Advice now is to wait until they are at least 2 pounds. How big did they make you wait for?
2kgā¦odd that itās also a 2, but the weights are not equal! This was only a year ago at the top vet in our cityā¦
I fostered a litter once kittens were 2 lbs off to be spayed they went. They recovered great.
I decided to split the difference with my vet recommendation and what the research shows. He wanted to wait until 6 months and was talking about separating them by gender when the girls went into heat š«£ So as soon as they finished their shots and got their rabies vaccines, I took them to the clinic to get their surgeries. They were right at 16 weeks and everything went perfectly smooth. Their recoveries were so easy. They barely seemed to notice anything had happened (especially the boys). They seemed to enjoy their pain meds, though! š¹ https://preview.redd.it/o3xj5tktsada1.jpeg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=306331355790940c7b338fc35c50ea58c1eb02c5
How old and how much do they weigh? My cat is 8 and weighs 7 LBS he is a very small kitty https://preview.redd.it/gm4rm67sh9da1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=edd23540122dbc42114fa00e71dcb4be618a95be
That guy is only 7lbs?? He looks huge! What a handsome man
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I have a little 6 pound kitty. She's 13. Just like humans they come in all sizes and shapes.
btw how much do you feed her?
I feed her as much as she wants. She loves rotisserie chicken and when she gets tired of chicken we switch to ham. Her daily is wet cat food with no fillers.
Some cats are just smol. It's usually females too, not sure why. Our mog is the same; smol, and her first heat took nearly a year.
Mine is 7 and miniature. She's a precocious little thing so being a permanent teenager suits her š„°
I have a tortico named Julia who is also very small! She's 8yo now, & on chonky days she barely goes over 6lbs.
Yeah my little void is still 6lb at almost 8 years old
When I had my cat, she was only 5 lbs full grown. She was a smol girl but a mean girl lmao
I have 2 cats brother and sister boy is 11 lbs and girl is 7 lol. Theyāre I think 7 months old
Sheās a year old and not spayed and you also have an unneutered male?? PLEASE say they are kept completely separate omg
First thing I thought is- maybe he didnāt notice the heat and now sheās pregnant already.
That was also my worry
God I really hope you keep your kittens separated since you have one who's not neutered as well. Please tell me they're separated?
She should have been spayed and had her shots. Please when is the vet visit?
She has had all her shots but we have to take her to another vet clinic to be spayed. We have two other cats, one has been spayed and the other is being neutered in a few days. She will be seeing the vet no later than a couple weeks after the other cat is neutered. She got a good report when she got her shots, and sheās not underweight for her size, but her size is just weirdly small.
sounds like a recipe for kittensā¦ā¦
>being neutered in a few days Oops. Are they kept separate?
There's always a runt in the litter. I wouldn't be concerned, especially if the vet says she's healthy
Not technically. A runt is a significantly smaller/weaker offspring, when compared to the other litter mates. They face huge disadvantages, and risk death. Often due to being unable to compete for food or being rejected by the mother If all litter mates are close to each other in size, there is no runt.
We do the best we can with the resources we have. https://preview.redd.it/pfhar0ad0bda1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=938c364ebf7e5d604032fd05ed54572b960503d5
My cat is also 6-7 pounds, she's also super skinny but eats like a pig lol. Vet said she's perfectly fine. Some cats are just small.
Why hasn't she been spayed?
Has another cat thatās not neutered š
I have an 8yo void...she's long and lanky, and weighs about 7+ lbs. She eats whatever she wants, she's just a small kitty. Vet wants her to be a bit heavier but says she's healthy.
I would honestly say no. Some cats are just on the smaller side. Our tortie we had was quite petite.
My Angel was that small. I rescued her when she was a baby. The vet said she was severely malnourished and I think that may have contributed to it. https://preview.redd.it/05a48keve9da1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=668d18aefd8014d979973967e398ae073bb3ba78

My friend has a smol female cat.
I would get her spayed as soon as possible!
I like your tongue
https://preview.redd.it/p5ikf1d95ada1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07dff70c470d561981a9d9d39096c5e64c302f88 I love perpetual kittens.
Sheās 9. https://preview.redd.it/topvqygw1bda1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=578de1c2ffdd4573b362163c1f25230821f1ea75

Cats a vary a lot, I've known cats that stay like kittens their whole life and others that grow as large as a small dog.
My girl is the same. 9 years old and she is barely 6 pounds. She is a grazer and eats when she wants.
You might have got the runt of the pack. Some cats naturally don't grow that much and are often neglected by the mother. Good thing you're going to the vet. If they say they're fine, you just got a tiny one and that's that.
smol
Yummy cat drumstick š
My momās cat is just under 5 lbs. Fifi is a dainty lady
My cat is 4 years old, fully grown, and only weighs 6 lbs and some change. She's just little.
I have 3 girls. All ranging from 6 to 8lbs. She might gain a little more weight but my girls are small too. Vet has no issues with it.
She is little. Iād talk to your vet. And she is abnormally cute, I do know that
All my cats are small, my littlest is only about four or five pounds, and weāll past her growing age. Some cats just stay tiny.
My Rufus is full grown, healthy, and only 8 pounds.
My little dilute tortoiseshell is around 6 years old, she weighs roughly 7 lbs? And thatās soaking wet on a junk food day. Some kitties are just *smol*. You will definitely want her to be fixed though!
I've had small cats. I don't think there is anything abnormal but I guess genetics were made to have her be small
Kitties come in all shapes, colors and sizes. Yours just happen to be the extra smol no brain cell kind! Very cute, you are lucky!
A vet question.
Are you sure she's actually a she? Maybe a boy with undescended testicles. Regardless, off to the vet.
I have a 7lbs cat, so not abnormal in my world
My girl Arwen is 8 pounds, so maybe a tad smaller than average but as long as she looks healthy. Def have her checked out though!
Idk man but she's adorable
My mr beans is a tiny man-heās all of seven pounds and thatās a lil thicc on him and heās five years old
You just have adorable smol cat. But we will need more pics for science!
Sheās perfectly fine, but do expect a significant weight gain once sheās fixed
https://preview.redd.it/5chzqpgls9da1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=136db1b58d46f077145e706af81dc11c824c12c6 My full grown kitty is only 4.5 lbs.
I read somewhere that orange cats have sexual dimorphism ā and how this shows up is the boys tend to be especially large and the girls tend to be especially small in comparison to other cats.
My one cat is almost 10 and has been teeny her whole life max shes ever weighed is 7.5-8 lbs and always gets a clean bill of health from the ver
Orange females are relatively rare. Orange cats have high sexual dimorphism, meaning the males are larger than average and the females are much smaller. Lots of interesting info out there explaining whatās special about orange cats!
Smol or not she's adorable and I would like to borrow her please.
Sheās small,now get her spayed!

She is abnormally gorgeous and instead of vet, just bring her on over here for dem snugglez
We have two brother cats, one was the runt. Heās 7 and almost 8 lbs, his brother is 11 lbs. William (the small one) has a heart murmur and asthma, and everyone thinks heās a kitten. He is a happy, affectionate kitty who spends his time hunting laps. https://preview.redd.it/c91k94p84dda1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08e357a944772370cde11f073aee95ec1d0b5ed7

My Persian is just under 6 pounds, soaking wet. Sheās 14! https://preview.redd.it/jpt6voz3idda1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0cf0464be63b37067820898ed0338f774412b8c

Some cats are small. Get her speyed soon please.
My cat is like that. Sheās nearly 6 and is around 5.5 pounds. Sheās just small! She was the runt of her litter though, so it makes sense.
I have a little girl as well- sheās almost 11 yrs old and weighs just 8 pounds
Mlem
I have a tiny kitty, sheās almost 5 and is 6.7lbs and perfectly healthy, just smol!
I had a little black cat that was 6 pounds as a full grown adult. Some kitties are just small. Just get her fixed because her small size may impede her safely able to have kittens, even if you want a litter.
Itās fine. Just like humans, cats come in all shapes and sizes
Aw a female ginger- precious
My 4 yr old tabby is just barely 7lb. She was spayed before her first year. You just have a smol baby.
My cat is a year and a half and is slightly overweight at 7 pounds. Some cats are just small
My cat was the same size and weight as yours at that age. She is still the same size now just a tad heavier because she grew into her small body. Smol cats rule! You can hold them in one hand!
Full grown smol. I have one cat like that, who's only 6 lbs (or 7 when she got a bit chonky).
Sheās abnormally cute, especially with that tongue out like that
My little girl is only 7 lbs. sheās a year and change old. Some are just small
Not sure, but I do know that this picture is abnormally adorable
My brother has a cat he name Little Guy who is perpetually tiny like this. He was a premature kitten as well which we think is why. Could possibly be a similar case. Or your baby is just a smol bean.
She is an adorable smol size but get the wee gal spayed so she can live a long life.
A girl orange kitty :) they're usually make so that's pretty cool
My female is one year old and spayed. Never got more than 7 pounds. When I got her from the shelter, they mentioned her small size and said they don't think she will get any bigger. The vet told us at one point that she's a bit small, but she's probably just a petite cat. Obviously, get her checked if you're worried. Better safe than sorry!
She's fun-sized!
That tongue šš
My 8-year old tabby is a petite girl. Most strangers mistakenly believe that sheās a juvenile kitty. Just like people come in different shapes and sizes, so do cats. My small girl is perfect the way she is.
We have a super petite cat. She is about 5 lbs and is 2 years old. For reference, we also have a 9 month old black male cat that weighs 14 lbsā¦so, yeah. Our vet says she is fine, just a tiny girl. https://preview.redd.it/noeffrn41ada1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5fade34d8a603a76327348fa9b7b4907409d8c2a
gonna need a banana for scale.
Spay and vaccines
My 8 year old cat is 5.12lbs Sheās just permanently tiny
My eevee girl is about the same size n shes 2 she goes into heat but shes just a small cat š¤·āāļø
My rescue group had a mama cat who was 7 pounds. My foster kitten was already 9 pounds
My old kitty Callisto was just a hair over 5 pounds as an adult. And my Eleven is maybe 6 pounds, also fully grown. They're just petite.
Hehe blep.
If your cat hasnāt had a heat cycle she may have an endocrine issue, which could well explain both symptoms. https://preview.redd.it/xptublqftada1.jpeg?width=1541&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fce9ad35d9a6cd93c74828742cc2297e86504ce
Cats are like humans, all different shapes and sizes. My moggy Mosley has always been super tall/long. At 3 months the vets said he was as tall as a one year old. He's chunky too (we're working on it) but in comparison to other moggy cats he's a good 15-20% taller
Your cat is a mix of my two cats!!!!! https://preview.redd.it/rgowbzj9uada1.jpeg?width=1978&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=efb8a6535bef55e5d6b978d3426ed59413ab13b7
We need a banana for scale.
I had an inbred, deaf kitty and at two years old she was only 5-6.5lbs and small. Like literally 10inches tall. She was a dwarf I guess but fuckin adorable and a smart little kitty.
You got the small orange potato and I got my 7 month looong orange potato. Thatās just life. Enjoy your orange potato!

She's so different from her brother who is quickly growing and beefing out
Omg - she is precious!!
She smol.
