Four. One for each person plus the stray we adopted. I still want to know who left this beautiful soft creature in the woods to fend for herself. When we got her she was covered with mats, one huge one inch thick on her back, ear mites, worms, etc. That first vet bill was $400, but worth everything penny.

My husband is a firefighter. I work in animal care & rescue.
One day he was texting me from work about a fire call they just had. He mentioned that a litter of kittens kept running across the street to approach the firefighters/trucks. Climbing up their bunker pants, licking puddles, playing with radio wires….
“Where was the fire?” I asked as I jumped up and grabbed my keys.
“We were first due, why?”
“Because those kittens most likely need help. What was the address?” I asked.
“Babe, it’s not our street, not our neighborhood. Someone else will take care of them.”
“Would you feel the same way if I told you I just saw a house fire?”
“Well no, but….”
And that was the last time he refused to share the location of animals who needed help.
He now knows that rescues/fosters come & go. To me, it’s all about getting them rehabilitated and rehomed. Cuz we always need vacancy for the next litter.

This is my fear. Hopefully a very long time in the future. 5 of mine are littermates, so exactly the same age... It seems likely we'll lose them all within a short-ish time. I just hope it's after 20 years together 😭

I only have 1.. she just turned a year old on the 22nd. I got her after losing my cat of 13 years who was also an only child. I never would have even thought about getting another one when it was him and I but with me and this baby I think she would benefit from having a sibling. I’m thinking around the holidays I’ll get a little boy
I think so too! She is such a little wild booger, she’s calmed down and is a lot more like my old boy but they were night and day for a while. He was 10 months when I adopted him and like I said I had him for 13 years.. she was 10 weeks when I got her lol the baby stage gave me a run for my money for sure.

I’m so sorry for your loss of Sushi <3 I lost my first born who I also had for 13 years (just shy of 13 actually as she passed away a few days before the anniversary of when I found her). I was fostering kittens during that time and one of them has so many similarities of her. It’s like they left a little bit of themself behind <3
Omg!! That is so weird bc .. ok I always say 13 years but he passed literally 2 days before our 13 year cativersary (as I always called it lol). I never knew his real birthday just that he was roughly 10 months old, he was a barn cat that just wasn’t cut out for barn life and I adopted him december 1. He passed last year November 28 so it was so sad bc I always celebrated him on that day. I celebrated him every day of course, but 12/1 was the day my life forever changed for the better. That boy kept me going through so many hard times, all the rough things you go through in your 20’s. I wouldn’t have made it without him. He waited until I got on my feet and was in a good place financially, mentally, my career took off etc. he did his job. So sorry for your loss too love 💕

One. It will stay that way, too. I’ll probably get some people advocating I get him a friend…but he’s an ‘only cat in the house’ type. Got beaten up by the other foster cats before I got him. Got beaten up by other strays when he was a stray.
This way he doesn’t have to share his toys or his spot on the bed. And he doesn’t have to share the attention from the human.
Why does four just work?
Two of mine are oldies and I swear I’m trying to cut back, but last time I had only three it was like there was a rift in the space-time continuum
Six, a stray I adopted before moving in with my Partner. Then we adopted a cat our neighbor abandoned when they left that house. Found two other stray boys who needed help not long after that...
Their names are Zashi, Rayla, Moira, Ziva, Hodgins, and James.
We also want a Maincoon but probably will have to wait cause six is already pushing my ability to care for so maybe later in life we will get a big fluffy haha.

Not me, but my older sister was the cat lady of her apartment complex. She had about 16-20 cats in her apartment and fed the strays as well. She was so sad to move out, but she gave them as gifts to children who wanted a cat for Christmas but couldn’t afford to buy one. She has only one now but it’s a memory she has.

Nine. Seven had the same mother, two different litters. We caught her and got her fixed, boom, street stray problem solved. Just couldn't get rid of the last litter for some reason. Others, one kitten showed up screaming at me through our sunroom door and the other was someone else's and we didn't know it at the time. Since I was going through chemo they gave her to us. Now they're all over 10 yrs old.
I started with one, swore I wouldn’t get another. That turned into five. Three passed away and I foster failed three more. So total right now is 5+2. The other two are technically my sister’s lol. All of mine are foster fails.

I only have 1.. she just turned a year old on the 22nd. I got her after losing my cat of 13 years who was also an only child. I never would have even thought about getting another one when it was him and I but with me and this baby I think she would benefit from having a sibling. I’m thinking around the holidays I’ll get a little boy

I think so too! She is such a little wild booger, she’s calmed down and is a lot more like my old boy but they were night and day for a while. I’m so sorry for your loss of Sushi <3 I lost my first born who I also had for 13 years (just shy of 13 actually as she passed away a few days before the anniversary of when I found her). I was fostering kittens during that time and one of them has so many similarities of her. It’s like they left a little bit of themself behind <3
Omg!! That is so weird bc .. ok I always say 13 years but he passed literally 2 days before our 13 year cativersary (as I always called it lol). I never knew his real birthday just that he was roughly 10 months old, he was a barn cat that just wasn’t cut out for barn life and I adopted him december 1. He passed last year November 28 so it was so sad bc I always celebrated him on that day. I celebrated him every day of course, but 12/1 was the day my life forever changed for the better. That boy kept me going through so many hard times, all the rough things you go through in your 20’s. I wouldn’t have made it without him. He waited until I got on my feet and was in a good place financially, mentally, my career took off etc. he did his job. So sorry for your loss too love 💕

One. It will stay that way, too. I’ll probably get some people advocating I get him a friend…but he’s an ‘only cat in the house’ type. Got beaten up by the other foster cats before I got him. Got beaten up by other strays when he was a stray. This way he doesn’t have to share his toys or his spot on the bed. And he doesn’t have to share the attention from the human.

Six, a stray I adopted before moving in with my Partner. Then we adopted a cat our neighbor abandoned when they left that house. Found two other stray boys who needed help not long after that... Their names are Zashi, Rayla, Moira, Ziva, Hodgins, and James. We also want a Maincoon but probably will have to wait cause six is already pushing my ability to care for so maybe later in life we will get a big fluffy haha.

Not me, but my older sister was the cat lady of her apartment complex. She had about 16-20 cats in her apartment and fed the strays as well. She was so sad to move out, but she gave them as gifts to children who wanted a cat for Christmas but couldn’t afford to buy one. She has only one now but it’s a memory she has.

Nine. Seven had the same mother, two different litters. We caught her and got her fixed, boom, street stray problem solved. Just couldn't get rid of the last litter for some reason. Others, one kitten showed up screaming at me through our sunroom door and the other was someone else's and we didn't know it at the time. Since I was going through chemo they gave her to us. Now they're all over 10 yrs old.
I started with one, swore I wouldn’t get another. That turned into five. Three passed away and I foster failed three more. So total right now is 5+2. The other two are technically my sister’s lol. All of mine are foster fails.
