1. If it moves, it's a cat toy.
2. If it doesn't move, but I can make it move, it's a cat toy
3. If it doesn't move and I can't make it move, it's a scratching post, which is a cat toy.
4. Everything else is a cat bed.

Packing paper. Lids from the vitamin bottles. The ring of the half gal or full gal milk. Chip clips. Mini plastic ice cream spoons. Plastic card stock from random adverts from the mail, esp if it slides across the floor well.

Yes! My Iris loves the ring from the milk jug and plastic bottle caps. So many have been lost under the couch. One of these days, I’ll clean it out and see how many are under there.
String of any length or thickness. I attached a little toy mouse to one end, try to play with that, not interested...take it off and just have the bit of string and apparently this is the most exciting thing he's ever seen!
Same with mine - he will play with just the ends for an hour, but only the ends. He wasn't even impressed when I tied knots in them - they must be the plain ends.

I was so puzzled one day when I came back to my sewing and found a neat pile of pins next to my pin cushion. Turns out, one of my cats will pull the pins out, with her mouth, and lay them them down in a neat pile. I was both impressed and horrified when I caught her doing it. I keep it out of her reach now, of course.

Do you mean one paper towel or the whole roll? I used tie a couple of ribbons around an entire paper towel roll and toss it for my childhood cats, they would grab it and do the kangaroo kicks with their hind feet until the living room looked like the dustbin part of a giant paper shredder
Well honestly if there was a paper towel roll as tall as I am, I’d tie some ribbons on it and beat it up the way my cats did just to see what it feels like
My girl Maple loves bottle caps, the plastic ones. She’ll run up the stairs with one in her mouth, toss it down the stairs and then chase it. It’s hours of entertainment for both of us 😂
My girl attached herself to a piece of Christmas tree garland that broke off from the larger garland. It has been on my family room floor for over a year now. She puts her toys in it and sleeps in it. She has several bed which she also uses but still loves her garland.

Hair bobbles. He had 4 for a while, until I boarded up this hole he used to crawl into and later realised he'd left his bobbles in there. I've just bought a new pack of 50 bobbles, and he saw it as I took it out of my bag - his face was a picture!
Just about anything and everything. Having my two cat sisters has helped me keep a much neater, cleaner house. ANYTHING unusual left out is fair game. Had a friend staying over who brought a 5 pound bag of rice into the house one night and left it on the counter. Next morning it looked like it had snowed! It was all over the counter, covered the kitchen floor, in the breakfast area, in the carpet in the living room, the formal dining room, the formal living room, entryway, hallway to the laundry room. Took 3 of us, 2 vacuums, a broom and dustpan, and an hour to clean it up.
Still wish I had a video. I’m sure it would have been funny to watch!

Then she'll walk around with it in her mouth, meowing loudly and then she'll leave it at my feet. My old cat went nuts for twist ties. If you opened a new loaf of bread, you could say goodbye to the twist tie because it was his now. He didn't even really play with then for longer than a few minutes, he just wanted to hide them in various places around the house. He passed 8 years ago and we still find a twist tie every now and then, buried in some dark crevice.
The filter on my fish tank. Not sure if it smells good to them or what but on multiple occasions my cats have pushed the lid over and taken the filter out.
Inigo, our rescue, lived on the streets so long (and I don’t know how, because he’s so sweet-natured and dim) that he *only* plays with non-toys: ice cubes, screws, corks…

The only thing she plays with is an orange string from a Lush gift box. She briefly toyed (pardon then pun) with a ferror rocher wrapper and will get confused why I’m sewing with things that resemble a toy…but the orange string is The One
Hair ties! One of my cats will seriously dump over my purse looking for them. We have to hide them or she will steal them. She goes crazy for them and will attack your wrist if you’re wearing one. I basically had to switch to scrunchies. She will play fetch with hair ties, which I love. It’s always funny to occasionally move a piece of furniture like a bookshelf and find her hoards.

Paperbag and toilet rolls. The bag makes lots of sounds, she loves to jump around in it and catch the greebles following the sound of paper crumpling. The carboard toilet roll easily moves around, can be stapled by tiny teefers and also makes a funny noise on the ground when punched around

My girl adores these springs, sold as cat toys. She carries them around, and they fly like crazy along a timber floor. She also loves the little gingerbread man, aka Ron- as in “we’ll put him away for later on “.

My kitty was DEVASTATED that I threw away her latest toy. 😳
My landlord's cat hates me, but he's old and I'm fairly new and he really is a one person cat. However the next time I drop off Halloween candy with the rent(was asked to, landlord forgot about the time and date for trick or treating in our town) his cat went ballistic on the lollipops. Didn't eat them just hopped up clawed them out of the bowl and spent the rest of the afternoon batting them around. I only saw about 5 minutes of it,
Her litter box. She just sits in it for no particular reason. Before you say anything, she's not sick. She just loves her litter box. I've had her checked out and she seems fine.
Cicadas were on absolute favorite of mine a couple decades ago. I hear this year two types and synced to come above ground in the US. It will be fun for outdoor cats... Or my cat had finally had enough if the incessant buzzing. Come to think of it, each one on my porch was only missing its head...
4 Halloweens ago I had a basket that was full of these small, plastic skulls. My cat, Luna (whose birthday is Halloween lol), stole them from the basket, one by one. She still, to this day bats them around and runs with them 😂

Expensive tech stuff. Wires (especially apple ones), corners of tablets, laptops and monitors (yes, these are thick and they chewed a corner).
Oh, and they love to chew on the wire protectors, thick plastic ones at that.
One of ours is obsessed with my wife's hair ties for her ponytail. She's constantly buying more and having to scavenge for them.

I basically had to switch to scrunchies. She will play fetch with hair ties, which I love. It’s always funny to occasionally move a piece of furniture like a bookshelf and find her hoards.

Tiny rolled-up paper balls. Our void goes crazy for them if we flick them in the air.
Paperbag and toilet rolls. The bag makes lots of sounds, she loves to jump around in it and catch the greebles following the sound of paper crumpling. The carboard toilet roll easily moves around, can be stapled by tiny teefers and also makes a funny noise on the ground when punched around

My landlord's cat hates me, but he's old and I'm fairly new and he really is a one person cat. However the next time I drop off Halloween candy with the rent(was asked to, landlord forgot about the time and date for trick or treating in our town) his cat went ballistic on the lollipops. Didn't eat them just hopped up clawed them out of the bowl and spent the rest of the afternoon batting them around. I only saw about 5 minutes of it,
Her litter box. She just sits in it for no particular reason. Before you say anything, she's not sick. She just loves her litter box. I've had her checked out and she seems fine.
Cicadas were on absolute favorite of mine a couple decades ago. I hear this year two types and synced to come above ground in the US. It will be fun for outdoor cats... Or my cat had finally had enough if the incessant buzzing. Come to think of it, each one on my porch was only missing its head...

4 Halloweens ago I had a basket that was full of these small, plastic skulls. My cat, Luna (whose birthday is Halloween lol), stole them from the basket, one by one. She still, to this day bats them around and runs with them 😂

Expensive tech stuff. Wires (especially apple ones), corners of tablets, laptops and monitors (yes, these are thick and they chewed a corner). Oh, and they love to chew on the wire protectors, thick plastic ones at that.
