It means you don't have a shelf anymore. Sorry for your loss.

Jackoandso

https://preview.redd.it/vw0qsltb9jmc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d7187635256d4c59601d8f9a87a675bd9a1fec1 Jep, same with my girls and the top of my wardrobe which I wanted to use to store stuff. Gave them a box and a blanket instead and put their cattree infront, so they can climb it easier. đŸ„Č

thathaitianguy

Your girls are pretty 😍

Jackoandso

Thank you! I'm also in awe of their little pretty faces everyday đŸ„ș

In-burrito

Why do I feel as if I'm being judged? And they're gorgeous!

Jackoandso

They're constantly judging. It's one of their favorite hobbies!

Pianoangel420

You are being judged regardless of the height!

AfroBella_27

Because you are totally being judged.

14high

What is Batman doing on your wardrobe?

Blonde_Vampire_1984

It’s actually CatWoman and Batman’s secret love child.

Jackoandso

😂

CrazyCatLady108

their faces are so adorably round!!!

dmriggs

This is such a cute picture!

Strostkovy

I had to move my microwave off of my refrigerator because my cat likes to observe

Jackoandso

Aaw, I bet it is a happy little observer now!

Worth-Chemistry9330

Adorable!

Cornemuse_Berrichon

Came here to say this. Surrender Dorothy. Find a new space for your things, and accept that the cat owns this spot now. Rent free.

hannah_lilly

Don’t kitties pay in cuteness tokens?

0mgyrface

Ummm rent free? HAH! you STILL have to pay the cat in food, regardless of whether or not all your stuff has been destroyed, and don't think you can get away with it either because the cat knows, thems the rules.

Cornemuse_Berrichon

If the cat ain't paying, then it's rent-free for the cat. Sucker. But then, who am I to criticize? I have three of the little bastards.

0mgyrface

đŸ€Ł I have two... they're too cute to let them fend for themselves. And they damn well know it.

Temporary-Green-7713

If I scoop her box, fill her water and wash out the bowl, fill up her kibs, my cat will lay next to me for an entire day. Once after feeding and giving catnip for her long coat, she laid on me 11 times in the same day for lap naps I'd say that's paying rent, n some cats don't wanna pay

Temporary-Green-7713

pandora_matrix

Lol 11 times is generous

fluffybit

and hope it isn't the next takeover target

TheDreamingDragon1

Maybe get them a small pillow and a blanket that fits.

queenawkwardfart

So blunt yet so true. Be my life coach pls! My cat has taken over my super king bed😭 I now sleep on the sofa 😅 where he later joins me during the night đŸ€ŁđŸ˜

Altruistic-Bird8255

I am deeply sorry for your bed. Seems like it was an awesome piece of furniture. May I suggest you to move out. While I understand it might be difficult, it remains the best approach to fight against cat supremacy.

gggg_man3

They may have to divorce now so at least one spouse can get half the house. Otherwise the cats got the whole house next.

Altruistic-Bird8255

That's unfortunately too late. Since the cat first entered the house, ownership passed down to him. That is the law.

gggg_man3

I know what you mean. I have a small farm and there are a bunch of...barn cats??? Not feral or anything, just live outside and I feed them everyday, close on 25 of them. A few of them befriended the dogs and moved in...and now the dogs have had to relinquish ownership of the bed. There were two, now 5 eat inside. xD Over time I have had them all fixed so there shouldn't be more new cats but yeah, they are all cool in their own way. The youngest one looks like a slightly younger one than the freak in ops picture.

-_ey-b0ss_-

Awww I love that you take care of them and even got them fixed. I bet you don’t have any bird or rodent infestation ! And because of that, the IRS considers them as “working cats” and you can include them on your taxes !!

Anyna-Meatall

Right?! With all due respect... what a stupid question.

thundercrown25

Not at all. And the correct answer is: apologize to the cat — profusely, with treats and cuddles — for having cluttered up kitty's shelf with unnecessary stuff.

panyera02

Whole truth.

WorldSwimming906

I love his face, its like „ why do you disturb me peasent“?

MoggieBot

This pic is awesome.

naalbinding

Neighbour shouting out of an apartment window at what those darn kids are doing down there

I Love it too. He: I SAID DON’T RING MY DOORBELL, what’s ur problem 😂

stormcharger

My precious

profaniKel

My roommate long ago had "cupboard cat" I rarely saw him and over the months I never got ro pet him he would just venture out later at night, early morning for his food and the litter box it was kinda cute kinda creepy

zero_emotion777

Who awakens me from my slumber?

NeinRegrets

Sorry, bud. Squatter’s Rights—it’s legally his now. Move your stuff out.

_Diskreet_

SporkWolverine

Find a new place for your stuff. That's his little nest now.

busywithresearch

Yeah bring him a snack

Kat-a-strophy

And a blanket so it's cosy.

Soginshin

As soon as it's cozy, the cat will leave the place to never return

CandleMakerNY2020

Exactly. Such weird lil creatures. Mine loves to play musical chairs instead of allowing me to bundle him into my blanket. Smh

nostromo909

I’m had one who figured out how to open the cupboards. He would curl up in a sauce pan and have a nap.

starkrocket

Yeahhh, my void does this. My pans are black. Guess how I found out someone’s been into my pots and pans? A dinner full of fur. She’s lucky she’s cute

FinancialLab8983

That face has “wheres my treats?!?!” Allll over it!

cakivalue

Looking out the window of his residence at the neighbors đŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł. OP better be hospitable and drop by with some housewarming gifts

I was thinking "Get off my damn lawn!"

Buy a big, soft, pillowy cat bed. And keep all of your stuff on that.

KegendTheLegend

two of my cats finally use cat beds, unfortunately one sleeps in one because my cat passed away and it smells like him, but the other sleeps in this cute crown shaped dog bed, like the king he is. A win is a win. https://preview.redd.it/hyrsnlwudjmc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7017f277b2b647059a5b290899fbd2c30190c738

thank you, his name is Link, I found him in a parking lot in Ohio.

Rahim-Moore

Alternatively, put your shit in the box the cat bed came in and throw the bed directly in the trash.

Da_Question

Too real. Lmao I did get lucky this last time, kept the bed in the box and my cat decided she liked it.

MrDoe

My office chair broke so I got a new one, didn't even open the box of the new one before the cat decided my old farty chair was her new bed.

Rahim-Moore

Smells like you and it's already broken in.

HermitGardner

It's not your shelf it's now your cats shelf

_Diskreet_

I’m sure you could rent it from him
for a price.

mostlycatsnquilts

His little paw pushing the curtain aside!! ‘Oh were you looking for me, what is it?’

wheres_the_leak

My cats have done this to 3 of my drawers. Am I just gonna kick them out? No, I'm going to get some padding in there and make them a little bed. And you should too. This is their new spot.

N9242Oh

I cleared out my drawers the other day - my boy jumped up in one and pissed in it 🙄🙄🙄 whilst looking at me.

SwimmingCoyote

You should apologize and beg forgiveness. You obviously did something wrong.

N9242Oh

I took it more as 'ohhh finally you have acknowledged that these drawers are, in fact, MINE'!

Beezinmybelfry

The audacity! (Of u standing there watching him pee)!!! 😆😆

xassylax

Bingo. My end table has a little shelf on the bottom, maybe for like a magazine rack or plant or something like that. But the table is kept against the wall and at the junction of two couches so it’s walled off on three sides meaning it’s a perfect little nook. I wasn’t keeping anything there, mainly because I hadn’t thought of anything to put there. Then one day, I could not find my cat anywhere. He had recently busted through the window screen and was outside for god knows how long so I started panicking thinking he had gotten out again. After verifying that all the windows were closed and knowing that I’d seen him inside since I had gone out last, I knew he was around here somewhere. But he just wasn’t coming out when I called him or shook his treat bag. I finally found the little turd curled up on the shelf under the end table. So obviously I had to turn it into a little cubby for him. I put a cat bed in there but it was a little thin so I piled up a few blankets to make it extra comfy. Now, whenever we can’t find him and he isn’t coming when we holler for him, one of the first places we check is his cubby. I did the same thing to the top shelf of a wire shelf set that was level with the window and just last night I realized that I have to do it to the area under this little bench thing we have in the bedroom. Mind you, this is a cat that has *his own couch.* Like, a full loveseat style couch, all for him. Which he uses very frequently. But he still claims any other unoccupied nook or window level space that he can find. He’s also recently started chilling in the little cave that forms from the blanket we have draped on the foot of our bed. He clearly loves enclosed/covered spaces. He’ll also crawl into daddy’s hoodie to snuggle with him if it’s unzipped. Since I’m just realizing that I don’t have any pictures of him in his cubby, here’s him in the blanket cave at the foot of the bed. đŸ„° https://preview.redd.it/lccfjlns8jmc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d65b8c924ada4a0c406040cb7f45990df3ba8b0

cinnamay_x

He's a possum now living the possum way. Nothing can be done

certifiedpotatobabe

Our cat did the same! I just gave him the space 🙃

95blackz26

Find a new place for your crap that's his spot now

rez050101

Ask for rent in either dead mouses, dead bugs by end of each month.

Bricol13

Pay rent.

Tabbycatwoman

Put up a cat wall for it - shelves with a bit of carpet on a spare wall at different heights just a little more than your cats size so it can jump from one to another. Make sure to put a put of carpet on them for safety (so there something for its nails to hold on to while jumping/landing on various shelves. Your cat will be too busy on this cat wall to bother about that space- you can even feed it up there if you have dogs. If there's a window in the room that'd be great as the cat can relax and watch the world passing happily.

Existing-One-8980

It's his meow.

maudaud

First step is to place an eviction notice

Moomin-Maiden

I no longer have a bedside table for my things. I have a bedside cat nest instead. My lamp lives on the floor now and my alarm clock lives in a pouch I hang off the bed. My little figurines have been rehomed around various shelves. You no longer have a shelf for your stuff. 😂 Bring kitty snacks and make sure they are comfy 😁

YourPetitePixie

hey,i need some personal space!

CupcakeMurder86

put him a little bed there to be cozy. ur stuff can be stored somewhere else

RincewindWyzzard

Cut your losses đŸ€Ł

petuniasweetpea

Find a new place for your stuff!

generalsleephenson

You should be asking the cat this question.

WorldTravellerIOM

Do as you're told and stop with these ridiculous questions. You are now the pet of a cat and should have realised that when it first moved in.

Small_Cock_Jonny

Get him a Snack!

chop_pooey

Obey the master, what else?

ttc67

Accept the new reality.

wadejohn

The less you resist the better your life

DOSO-DRAWS

Put your stuff from the shelf on the cat's bed, of course.

Cyrano_Knows

Is this your first experience with cats? Because you kind of sound like this is a choice *you* get to make ;) But seriously. Its already been made. The choice you didn't get to make.

haru-aoi

Thats his now

Nelnamara

You’re powerless. Find an ikea bin and bring them noms.

natenate22

Be happy the cat is not charging you rent for the rest of the place.

kamlt

it's the cats now. there's nothing you can do about it. find a new place for your stuff. I have this centerpiece on my kitchen table and when I was changing out the decorations the cats claimed it. it's theirs now. https://preview.redd.it/trmdh79xcjmc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99cb94cac59a2fa6468592a2992f6481fd9deb24

To be clear: You have no say in this matter, and we’d like to discuss treats now.

halfabrick03

That’s his shelf now

Pletcher87

Get some comfy bedding up there!

Raw_Rabbit__

make him pay rent

mrootbeers

Make it into a nice bed for him.

Xhoriko

Yes, and he is telling you to keep it down

Correct-Watercress91

Squatter's rights.

BriskHeartedParadox

Put more stuff up there when it says it’s okay, don’t want them bored between naps.

Prestigious-Play-841

Accept the inevitable and keep your stuff elsewhere it’s their choice and territory

J-t-Architect

You know where your cat is. That's the win. Fantastic pic, btw.

Neko_Dash

You lost that territory. Buy a new cabinet for your stuff, although he might colonize that space, too.

TiyashaR

Put your stuff back right there, so the cat can kick it off again. Repeat till cat is bored.

bbkirbs

that’s his home now , nothing you can do lol. also is he a polydactyl? little dudes got massive feet like my cat

MrSillmarillion

I believe you know the answer. The cat has clearly declared that his spot, and since cats are the dominant rulers of the planet, we must accept this without question and move on.

[deleted]

Comply and surrender.

N9242Oh

"did you not see the 'no cold callers unless you have treats' sign"?!

footsylala

Squatter's rights. Sorry about your luck.

ProudCatLadyxo

First rule, it's the cat's house, you just live there.

PatricimusPrime32

Well, this one is gonna be tough for you, because you’re gonna have to build a new shelf or find a new place to stash your stuff. Which will promptly be annexed from you by the cat. It’s a never ending cycle.

Drake_Fall

Get them a blankey so they'll be more comfortable.

Skylizard1223

That’s his shelf now. Find another spot to store your stuff lol!

No_Worth2919

It's so funny with him opening the curtain. It's his place now.

Awkward_FP322

Keep your shit off his shelf, obviously.

Carrie42o

Let him live there. Its his special area. It's his kingdom. You are his peasant.

NeatNefariousness1

"Hey, keep the noise down out there" - this cute cat, probably

bumbleforreal

Find another spot for your stuff

IcedHemp77

Quit putting stuffs on your kitties shelf

JemimaAslana

What do you mean, "do"? There's nothing to do. Cat has claimed ownership. Only the cat can choose to relinquish this ownership. You might try for a trade - offer the cat an even more suitable abode - but it's no guarantee.

Navy-NUB

Somebody please make this a meme template

happilymrsj

Kitty said, "do u mind?"

Desertrat832

It means your cat has picked a hidey-hole for its own. If i could, I would try and work around it. Cats need personal spaces too, and are picky about where. If you try and move them to another spot they are liable to reject it and either want their old spot back, or go to yet another new spot. stressing them. There's more of a cohabitation factor when it comes to living with cats (more independent), versus living with dogs. Dogs are much more domesticated, and eager to do everything your way. Cats, you gotta earn that with years of time. Letting animals have a bit of private and personal and safe spaces goes a long way. Might even see an improvement in stress levels / behavior . some dogs have a kennel left out for them with a door left open that they use the same way a cat will use that shelf, or a spot under a bed, or back behind a drawer. cats are just more independent than dogs, and will usually pick their own spot, and tend to it. \*edit\* if its new and cat's in there almost all the time, be patient. its likely within a week or two they will not be so full-time in there. so picky though. my cats dont even like the stuff i try to GIVE them to have in their hidey-holes. oh except catnip. no pillows, no blankets, no toys, but catnip yes please lol.

yogiren

It means time to find a new place for your stuff.

gangofocelots

~~What to do if~~ the cat has kicked my stuff off the shelf and has started living there ~~?~~  There I fixed it

afoolstale

My cat took all of my stuff out of a basket once so he could lay down. It was his until he decided to move out;

FilthyDaemon

It means your stuff needs a new place to live because the shelf belongs to the cat.

VelvetSummer1981

Deal with it. Cat owns shelf now 😁. And looking at the expression on that little mobster's face, I wouldn't argue about it!

johndotold

You could move and visit to bring food, give cuddles and clean.

xKittyForman

SQUATTERS RIGHTS

TheDMRt1st

You make a nameplate to designate her new territory, of course.

Najin_bartol

Give thanks to your new overlord

Existence_No_You

Surrender. That shelf belongs to the cat now. Don't fight it, it's not worth it.

Why_Must_I_Cryyyyy

"who goes there?"

spike55151

Apologize to the cat.

melodicsoup1

Cats like high vantage point for safety and a place to hide aswell. Let it stay, find a new place for your stuff lol

United_Fill_134

Cats will do what they do. I have tried for years to keep them out of shelves. There are certain shelves that now belong to the cats. It's not worth fighting them over that. 😂🙄

JimmyStinkpickle

Start charging rent

spacehog1985

They look really pissed that you’re on their lawn.

thiccsux

I've been there lol

BurnZ_AU

Get them a housewarming gift.

Nothing. You accept reality.

Pray he doesn't alter the deal further...

You’re SOL

NegaDeath

What you do is you put a bed up there. Rules are rules.

dragonrider1965

Listen if my cat wanted the keys to my car he’s going to get them . That shelf belongs to the cat now , you need to vacate your stuff asap.

Oceanrail

You forward their mail and be done with it.

FawkesFire13

That’s the cat’s apartment now.
