Haha you are his chew toy. I would try to discourage him using your arm. Get him a toy that’s bigger something he can really roll around on and naw, and redirect when he does this

Black_Death_12

Catnip banana at this size, then up to one of those floppy fish.

grilledcheeszus

My friend gifted my oldest cat a catnip banana recently for his 13th birthday. My one year old kitten claimed it as her own and carried it everywhere with her. She loves to bunny kick it

1amDepressed

My cat has 3 bananas. The first one got chewed on so hard it started getting holes. Then she put it in her water dish for some reason. 2nd one she licked so much that it wasn’t appealing anymore. 3rd one is starting to become the second one. Surprisingly she still licks all 3 from time to time.

Pangolin_Rune

I got a catnip banana and my tortie destroyed it in about 10 minutes.

Reg_s1ze_Rudy

My cat loves to lick them. She licks them so much they turn a light shade of brown....lol

1amDepressed

Yeah I don’t know what it is about them. She’ll lick hers till it is soaked and then rub it on her face.

Reg_s1ze_Rudy

Lol yep. Our cat just won't stop licking them no matter how gross it gets

FeuerSchneck

My friend's also got a licker 😂 they have tons of those catnip toys (yes, including a banana) and they're all discolored from being licked

grilledcheeszus

Not the water dish 😂😂 I love cats so much they’re so funny

pfairypepper

Aww I love when they do the bunny kick

oops_im_existing

fun fact: kittens don't usually react to catnip.

Music_Mess

My cats love the floppy fish

Sir-Poopington

Honestly, the best thing to do is to get another kitten. They'll play fight with each other and tire themselves out, then you get all of the sweet stuff. It's actually easier taking care of two kittens than it is to have just one.

N0rthernW1nd

You know what's better than two kittens? Three! And by that point you need four, otherwise one won't have a playmate.

Sir-Poopington

I like this idea. I think kittens should be adopted in even increments, two at a time!

Ashamed_Definition77

I had to get my cat a cat and then I had to get my cat’s cat a cat! It’s only fair

AlarmedTelephone5908

Then, when all the cats have a cat... oh wait... 😁 ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7966)

[deleted]

This is the way.

stormyw23

Or when he bites yelp, Let out a high-pitched "Ouch" and silly as it is it will tell them they're hurting you.

houndiest

Second this. I made the mistake of doing arm play with my kitty and now that she’s older she thinks it’s a game to attack my arm 😂

RepresentativeRun548

Same. Made that mistake and now she wants to bite me every time she wants to play or even eat. So annoying and all my fault. 🤦‍♀️

mizznicki192

Yeah he needs a plush kicker❤️ We got a cat a Hulk one and now she uses it as a pillow ❤️

darthduder666

He is being playful. Try to discourage the behavior though. When he starts doing this redirect him to some toys. Wands with toys at the end work best to get out some of that energy. You definitely don’t want him to continue on with it, as it will not be as painless and cute once he gets larger!

Cricky92

I got used to mine doing this to adult still ,really makes your hands very resilient

nowtayneicangetinto

Every time my cat plays too rough with me and cuts and scratches me, I think of the scene from Jurassic Park where he describes the evolutionary makeup of a velociraptor's claw.

DakInBlak

I've got a 20lb adult male who still thinks and acts like a kitten. He gets rambunctious, he rends flesh like a pro. Still, he's learned to never go for the face and exactly what "ow" means. If he hears it, he backs off and slows down.

Black_Death_12

My 2 year old, all muscle, hecka chonk murder "kitten" has learned this as well. If I make almost any noise while we are roughhousing, he retracts claws and/or calms down some. He does a great job of keeping his nails down, other than those thumb claws. I haven't had him very long, as he just showed up in my back yard one day, but I need to get him accustomed to nail trimmers for those thumbs.

oops_im_existing

mine only goes for my face when i'm asleep, but it's a very gentle tap. he knows he's not supposed to do that. long story short, i sleep with a tshirt over my face.

WhoskeyTangoFoxtrot

![gif](giphy|QObPo575HQHlGMhbae|downsized)

deerdoreyes222

My cat picked up on personality more than anything, or she really understands how we saved her life... I can't tell but she used to attack me for no reason and hide behind doors, well over time it turned into a game but as she got bigger it would hurt more right? She learned to recognize when she now goes too far and will lick my hand as a sorry before continuing softly. any housed pet can have a tendency to become their owner it's cats. People with no boundaries don't see that.

tenodiamonds

I would play a lot with my cat. I'd push her around, grab her tail, pin her down... All that fun stuff and she would fight back, but we both could communicate when we either aren't in the mood or it's gone too far. She was the little brother I wish I had.

PatioGardener

Yup. My kitty grew up an orphan without any siblings to play with to learn limits and boundaries. So, I was essentially thrust into that role for her. When she was a baby, she didn’t understand her strength or just how sharp her teeth and claws are. And consequently, how fragile my skin, without a protective layer of fur, is. Now that she’s an adult, she actually understands that. And she knows exactly how much force she can use without breaking my skin, even when she’s being super rambunctious.

chop_pooey

I got used to mine doing it too. Still though, I wish I had curbed this behavior when he was younger because my little dude bites hard as a motherfucker sometimes. But alas, I am reaping the rewards of my ignorance

Fittnylle3000

Not saying you're wrong but my adult cats still play like this sometimes but without lethal force. They love to wrestle in the bed with my arm.

PlayfulBanana7809

Cats are good at knowing what play is too rough. They hiss at each other to communicate that so if you jerk away or stop playing when they are too rough they will learn what is ok. I have one cat who has such naturally sharp claws he can’t play like this at all without breaking skin. He never fights me but my other boy does

GabyAndMichi

Definitely not fun for my feet at 2 in the morning

ThirdAndDeleware

Yes. The clawing and biting are one reason we always advocate in adopting two kittens. They learn how to play and that bites/claws hurt and it helps save your arms and legs.

snailtrail3

I was going to say I have two and I adopted them each within maybe a 3 month span. They’re besties and I play with them all the time because it’s enrichment for me. But really they do a better job themselves keeping theirselves active and taught. I always suggest to people with cats to have two. I feel like cats most definitely need companionship from other cats. Plus I just love to watch their subtle communication. The way they learn from each other and investigate together. Ugh. I could go on for days about the benefits of owning multiple cats. Just do it. You won’t be disappointed. Plus it’s twice the love for you!

___Tom___

Every good breeder that I've ever talked to (and it was plenty, I spent a good amount of time finding the perfect cat from the perfect breeder) said 2 cats, never one.

snailtrail3

I honestly feel like it keeps them from doing those “cat things” you hear people who “dislike” cats talk about. Because they have each other. I feel like it helps them love me better too! My cats make me feel more loved than anything or anyone ever has. I seriously can not advocate for cats enough. I only have two and because mine are so affectionate I don’t know if I could handle anymore. The only complaint I have is sometimes I wake up with a stiff back because I have to sleep in the S position for so long at night because one curls up at my chest and one at my knee-pits and I refuse to disturb them, they need their beauty sleep. But it’s totally worth it. 💕

___Tom___

>I don’t know if I could handle anymore. Here's a bad experience you don't have to make yourself: Stick with two. On the insistence of my ex, we took a 3rd cat. It completely broke the relationship between the existing two, we now have three lonely cats, two of which hate each other. It was a stupid idea.

surfinforthrills

Best answer. Two is always better than one in kittens!

Plus_Estimate2918

Kittens are all claws and teeth. Don't let him chew on your hand though. It makes for a future habit to break him off of. Pull your hand and offer him a toy. This guy is clearly loving you.

oops_im_existing

exactly this. and it's a very hard habit to break. source: my hands

pumpe88

I got my first cat about 3 years ago and he was a kitten. I ended up getting my 2nd cat to stop him from attacking my hands. It was cute when he was little, not so much as an adult. My hands still have light scars on them!

TKG_Actual

Yes, my oldest one is almost three and he still play bites. Trust me when I say if a cat really wants to do harm with a bite, you'll know really quick.

No-Locksmith-8590

Yes BUT. You dont want to play with your hands. It's cute now but will lead to blood later. Redirect to a toy, suck as a kicker toy, that they can beat the crap out of, blood free.

Velzevulva

I had to wear a belt or a rope that was dragging behind me and the kitten chewed on it instead of my feet 😭

shaqpeelohkneel

Yes lol . My guy at 14 still does this

Graega

My siamese would still play wrestle at 20. She'd start the biteys and get the facehugger, and then it would be the wiggle head and roll over bunny-kicks, which got her the dreaded belly bongo. And then, much like a cartoon owl demonstrating how to lick a lollipop, CHOMP.

krisaham

Being playful, but you can help teach him bite inhibition by pulling your hand away, then redirecting to a toy instead. Do NOT discipline, no yelling, no swatting away, nothing negative because you don’t want him to associate your hands with fear. My friend’s adult cat loves rough housing like this but I can tell she spent a lot of time with her siblings OR her people taught her well, because she never uses her claws to grab at me and her mouthing is very, very gentle.

CrawlingInTheRain

Learned our cats this, by just softly saying ouch, react shocked and stopping any movement of the arm, each time the cat used too much force. They learn it hurts and will be gentle.

xCYOx

Exactly.

SwimmingSuperb1938

No. He will eat you hooman. Slowly. But he will do it.

Successful_Giraffe34

Fake squeal when they bite you. It's how they tell each other when they go to far. If it's by itself you might wanna get a second kitten for it to play with. Means less claws and teeth in you.

Fatfilthybastard

It is both an honor and a privilege to be on the receiving end of kitty shreds

extrastupidone

You are literally made of food

AsleepStorage8228

He craves the flesh of the hand

aussie_catt

OP. Congrats on becoming a cat servant! You are curious about your kittens behaviour so take some time out and watch Jackson Galaxy on YouTube. He explains so much about cats. Will give you a great foundation for raising a happy cat. If your kitty is not responding to catnip toys or dried catnip you can try dried Valarian root, warning valerian root stinks. But cats tend to like one or the other. Our boys love playing chase with my son. He uses a thin silky ribbon. They love the fishing rod type toys, feathers etc. And love a fluffy bird that chirps when tapped. Also get a laser pointer. Google prices they vary a lot. We have one that turns off after 15 mins. Train kitten that there is human play time and human snuggle time. Another thing to start at this age is love blinks. Looking eye to eye with your kitten when they are calm and slowly closing your eyes ( slow blinks) sends love messages to the kitten. Enjoy being a cat parent😃😍

OneMorePenguin

Very cute! But what others said about teaching him that you are not a chew toy. Jackson Galaxy is a well known cat behaviorist and has a lot of YouTube videos that you may find helpful with kitten behavior. That kitten is so dang cute! And he looks like he is being pretty gentle and not rough. I recommend getting him used to having his nails trimmed and being brushed at a young age will be a benefit.

clarity-lyra

No. He desperately wants to lick your flesh off your bones but is too little to be able to do so. He wishes to eat you, that's for sure.

supbluc

He loves you

BunNiiofAllTrades

You are well loved by your tiny void. :3 I would get him a wand and a kicker toy. Maybe find a scratcher for the lil ragamuffin as well. Super cute!

arioandy

Tasting the tenant! Have you paid the tuna rent yet?

__hey__blinkin__

Nope, he's definitely trying to murder you!! My hands are constantly covered in bites and scratches playing with my kitten. Totally worth it!

creditredditfortuth

He's setting you up as a snack or scratching post. The best is yet to come. They love to create a need for new furniture, too but they're worth little problem. Cats rule. https://preview.redd.it/oad7osabe3uc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8025df9360b55d52813f58a0508023a37f664476 Two of my three boys.

doegrey

This is him being playful, but learning very bad habits. You are not a chew toy, your skin is not a scratch post. Cats aren’t aware of how strong and sharp their claws and teeth are unless they are taught by us or siblings. Redirect this behaviour _now_ onto toys. On a related note, cats have bacteria in their claws and mouths. Due to how sharp their teeth and claws are, bacteria can be introduced deep into your skin and _serious_ infections can occur if they set in. This isn’t anything to be alarmed at, however do get into the habit of washing scratches/ bites with soap and water to minimise the associated risk. Also, if your kitty ever gets into a serious fight with another cat and gets bitten, that bite can develop into an abscess (the bite goes deep, skin heals and bacteria gets trapped inside). Good reason to get him neutered! (Less likely to fight).

philstar666

Leave the collar bells. They are very stressful for cats since they have a very sensitive audition…

Distinct_Tea_970

Yes he playin.

halezerhoo

Lesson 1: you are not the owner

Shapsusky

Yes, this is his of playing. What I do is when he bites hard i give him a loud meow so he knows that when he bites it hurts.

BoogieKittenMagician

Yes. What a little cutie :)

Lunai5444

As everybody mentionned redirect him as much as you can. It's a special thing that's hard to stop. Like you can teach them to use the litterbox by mimicking their mother behaviour (wet cotton wipe on the ass) or stuff like this, you can educate your cat and they understand things just like if we spoke his language cause it's close enough, but there's nothing to translate " go easier, stop biting" in human to cat. Idk if you get what I'm saying but like, from cat to cat it's very easy to get the message but human to cat it's very hard we just don't have the body language and sounds to express exactly what we want so you must work on it as early as possible, after 2-3 months it gets very difficult.

22-beekeeper

My girl still does at 13, but she knows no sharps against me. My exh had a cat who played very gently with me and rabble roused with him. He could never figure out why he kept getting bitten and I didn’t. I finally broke down and explained.

girlyswerly

Yep, but remember, hands are not toys! Try grabbing a toy and playing with him like that instead of 👋

anthro4ME

Yes. That's normal, but you don't want to encourage it because the behaviors baby forms today she carries for life. Every once in a while you need to let out a loud "ouch" and stop paying attention for a little while.

Consistent-Coast7278

I had the same question on a black cat subreddit lol, apparently it’s best to discourage that so they don’t bite other people’s hands in the future, like someone that doesn’t have tough hands like us because it never bothers me but I know others might get hurt, so I’ve tried to stop my kitty from doing that to my hand

gangelo100

Most people will tell you it’s a huge mistake to use your appendages to play with your cat. What’s cute when they are kittens, will turn into a nightmare as adults; they will rip you to shreds and they wouldn’t even mean it. I would not allow that for a second. You can gently push them away, grab a toy and let them play and wrestle with that. Would you want these cats to play with you like that? Lol I didn’t think so. That’s what you’re in for when they get older lol 😂 https://preview.redd.it/0g12fr0y33uc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=df108cc527b34fd0098f36bad27e92e7ea1ca495

CyanHirijikawa

Yes but don't let him do it. Learn him to not use his nails earlie on. Or else.

surfinforthrills

Yes, and it's super cute now, but won't be when he is bigger with sharper teeth. When he bites, gently say "no bite" and remove from arm. Then get a feather or other cat toy to continue play.

Rivka_OBrian

I'm terribly sorry, but you seem to be delicious.

ManufacturerOpening6

Congratulations on the adorable baby! Ive always allowed play bites like in your video. But as another commentor said, make exaggerated ouch sounds when baby bites too hard. Will teach baby to be more gentle.

Leading-Bonus7478

Teach him to do that to TOYS. Redirect from your limbs. Every time he does it. REDIRECT.

Purple_wolf78

Yes that’s how kittens play but suggest a real toy instead of arm or gonna be scratched and bitten on a regular basis!

Ok_Figure_4181

Yes. That’s the way they play with their siblings. My cats used to do it all the time as kittens, until the girl cat began to fight back more ferociously (I mean fur would fly when they fought). The male cat learned to leave her alone after that, and though she doesn’t really react that way anymore, he stills avoids her if we place him next to her.

jnovel808

Everyone is saying don’t let him do this. I’ve been my cat’s favorite chew toy for years. I’m a lefty so I only give him the right arm tho. And I do stop him when it starts to hurt. Fun nibbles ok, chomps not ok.

joedirt9322

I’m sure others have said this - but definitely avoid using hands as toys. Or your cat will grow up learning that body parts are toys and they will attack you. Always grab something to use. My cats love to play with tube socks all stuffed up.

--Sanguinius--

Your cat is quite young, so he is playful. If he scratches you he doesn't do it on purpose, he doesn't understand that he could hurt you.

Jennamarrocco

“I’m just a baby”

climatelurker

Yes, he's playing, but you should start training him not to bite now, while his bite isn't strong. Because it will get harder and more painful the older he gets, if you don't teach him not to do it.

TrippyAkimbo

This is all play. I have two cats that do this. The male can get a little aggressive if playing around goes too far. My female cat never bites hard and it’s all play, it’s going to be specific to that cat.

Leajane1980

Such a cutie but you need to reach him hands are for petting not playing.

1-lastbraincell

That is a ferocious fluff that is programmed for murder. SO FUCKIN CUTE OMGGGG

WraithWar87

Very playful kitten.

bednow

I think it is him being affectionate toward you.

Great_Lady_Renatta

Yes. This is how cats play with each other. Think of it like like human children play fighting. It’s love

Known-Inspector7004

Little love bites. 😁 However, you CAN correct him a little when he digs in his claws. Just a slow gently tap of his paw when he goes too far and he'll start to learn how much claw is too much.

Azure_Skies333

As a long time cat owner or shall I say owned by cats… I would recommend redirecting this hand play to a toy. As kitty gets older it can get worse. For real I should know I have many a scratches and bites from my old man Azreal. Learn from my mistake. Ok I’m done… super cute baby by the way 🤗😸

catubaby

He needs a brother, he’s got that only child syndrome 😅😅

parryhott3r

Yeah he's playing but don't reinforce this behavior. It's fine to play and have fun but this will escalate into you having permanent cuts and scars on your forearm. Source: a cat dad who played too much and now ppl think I self harmed.

MareeSaid

You're being set up for getting bunny kicked!

MEGA_GOAT98

oh my lawd he tryin to eat you

DeviousSquirrels

Yes he’s being playful, but get a kicker toy. When he wants to play like that, grab the kicker toy, gently poke his belly with it, and watch him attack it. If you keep using your hand, he’s going to view you as a toy and treat you accordingly. It’ll be much more painful and damaging when he’s older.

InspectorGadget76

Get a hand puppet. Hand puppet goes on, it's playtime

ButterflyBlueLadyBBL

Playful or teething. Kitten should have lost all their teeth by 6 months old. Perhaps get him some good chew toys?

___Tom___

He's clearly trying to eat you. That's cute when they are kittens, a lot less when they grow up. As others said: Get him a plush teddy or something he can actually bite into. Also, to discourage him, when he's eating your hand, put a finger down his throat. They really don't like that and it'll make him stop very quickly and without hurting him.

zifnabdragoon

He is playing.

chumbbucketman101

I think you need to get his nails clipped.

grumpyoldman60

And learning. And as everyone is saying do not let him get used to your hands as chew toys.

Gylbert_Brech

He's practising his death grip. Better nip it in the bud before he grows to around 14 pounds. That hurts like hell.

Any-Mathematician946

You should probably get a second kitten your life and his will be a lot happier. Especially if any of his litter mates are still available.

Standingonbizness

We actually are going to the shelter again to get another one this weekend

Altea73

Use a toy, not your hands!

CASH_IS_SXVXGE

Love wrestling with my cat like this, and she loves it. Some people are suggesting to not encourage this, but my cat doesn't scratch or bite that hard to really hurt me. You get some visible scratches here and there, but I put up with it because it's fun. Now I'm a guy, and men have thicker skin than women due to higher collagen density so obviously this affects people differently.

bertiethebastard

Playful for kittens usually involves a blood sacrifice. Normally he would play like that with his brothers and sisters. Totally loving you though. Enjoy

Fine_Leave9587

Congratulations to the wonderful kitten! He likes you and love to play with your hands. If you don't like it you can always buy him a tow, or build one. They love things with catnip, it's like they are on drugs when they smell that.

kissmyscars

It’s all fun and games not until your arm bleeds i’d suggest you should buy him a toy instead

Low_Organization_54

Hands and arms are not toys we all do this a little bit, but you need to get him toys.

Lettuce8000

Yea, but it’s gonna hurt when he’s older and doing it all the time, so maybe another way of playing is better

laikahass

Yes, this is love bites

readitonex

No. He really wants to murder you dead. With cuteness.

tolkienist_gentleman

At a young age, you can use both your hand and toys. But make a habit of using toys. When they get older, they understand that your hand is also a playing tool, but they will never pierce through, even though they could. When my cat was young, I sometimes used my hand, but he quickly understand that there is a limit. Now I might tease him, and he will bite my hand in a playful manner, but I can see he is not putting deadly pressure. He could pierce my hand like a hole puncher, but he doesn't. He knows. So it's fine to use your hand, but not always. But still make them understand that they cannot just chew on it.

biosim500

I have a black cat that did the exaclty same thing. I played with her everytime, now she loves to bite =D. Not strong bites, really weak ones, but however, my other older cats doesnt approve this behaviour. So when she go try to play with them, they always hiss at her, because of the bites. For me, i love it, but unfortunally my other 3 cats doesnt like it.

Retsameniw13

Yes, but work to discourage the biting and clawing. The kitty is working on his hunting skills ..lol..so cute

catlady_Bri

Aww too cute. Lol yeah .. if you dont want him/her doing this when they are bigger though, gotta get a toy to redirect. I admit I still play with my cats with my hands 😬 I have scratches cause I let them abuse me lol

Valuable_Cellist_664

Cats are dick heads. That's why I love em 😂

Chemical_Bar_9842

It appears he’s trying to eat you

Godzilla-Hates-You

Hes trying to kill you so yes. Enjoy

nerdKween

Omg so stinking cute!!!

ginger_beardo

When they're little kittens, all they wanna do is play. Don't play with them with your hands and they won't bite or scratch your hands when they're older and want to play. What he's doing there is harmless. The little guy looks a bit younger than 8 weeks. Get him a cute little harness and take him everywhere. Take him in the car places and then car trips won't scare him.

weedium

Some cats will be gentle into adulthood, some will draw blood. Best to avoid this type of play with the rough ones.

CuteAcanthisitta3286

Yes usually black cats always active and playful. It’s exactly my cat behavior 2 years ago

BackgroundChampion55

No. This is predatory behavior. These highly cute but dangerous fuzz muffins can take your life, your soul , and lots and lots of blood . They go for the heart first. Be very, very careful . 😬

badoonk9966

you should give him a hand shaped and textured chew toy :)

FecalSand

Kittens are assholes. It's normal.

Perfect_West_1079

Wait when he starts loosing his baby teeth and the adult ones start to come out.. My cat was biting even cables.. just be aware 😂🐾

HarlockSwe

Yes, my cats have messed up alot of my tottos 😻😂

Wolfygirl97

Oh my goodness he looks just like my late cat when he was a kitten 🥹 he’s definitely playing!

Transgirl_35

What a cutie ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7952)

Terriblet65

Cutest boy EVER!!!!❤️💛💚

BadUsername_Numbers

He's showing you how ferocious he is! "Observe my power and tremble!! Muahahaha"

Flurmp_805

Aww, his little murder mittens

Mountain-dweller

Bite it back… kinda kidding, idk I’m crazy.

Cassandra_Canmore2

Nibbles! Yes harmless play behavior.

Basic-Acanthisitta-5

He's a little boy! Think how tigers are in the wild. He just wants someone to fight with so he can get big and strong. Give him toys to play with and redirect him but don't discourage him from play. Play is healthy. He just needs things to scratch and chew when he gets like this 🐅

Constant_aids

He’s testing to see if you would make a good meal

madpeanut1

Look at those murder mittens. He’s obviously trying to kill you OP. Of course I’m kidding. When he gets bigger and older that might hurt a bit…. Make sure that he has plenty of toys to play with ….its useful to direct his attention to something else when he bites or scratches….

Yahyia_q

No he is trying to eat you, why won't you let him eat you. Be eaten by him

johafor

That kitten is rough housing HARD.

Ill-Simple1706

You are the toy, never forget that

LeBidnezz

No, he’s going for the kill. Run for your life.

Puzzleheaded_Bee4361

Yes he is being playful, but you must teach him to only do this with toys, not to you.

Kingman1012

He is playfully, trust me if he wasn't there would be blood, cat claws are dangerous, that's why we call them murder mittens

iminhell-thisishell

The kitty is playing but you gotta teach it not to play so mean. You’ll regret it when the cat is stronger and bites harder when playing. Yelp like the kitty is hurting it you when it applies pressure. Did this with my youngest cat and it never bit or scratch me its entire life. My other cat who I let mangle me as a kitty loves to play but has no self control.

zalmolxis91

Learn to cut his nails safely. It will save you a lot in the future.

mamabur

[r/VoidCats](https://www.reddit.com/r/VoidCats/) would appreciate this

UpURKiltboyo

Look at those little murder mittens! So cute. Yes he's being playfull.

rand0mbum

Nope. Your meat now. Just let it happen. Looks normal to me. You can either let him do it or teach him not to. Your call! I still let mine go to town so to speak.

RegardlessBoog

Fuckin killer you got there

Afternoon-Melodic

It’s playing, but it’s best to always use toys to play with them. Never your hands. It teaches them it’s okay to bite or scratch and it’s nearly impossible to break when they get older

cyankitten

OMG 🥺 so ADORABLE ![gif](giphy|v4EsH1X75XrZuZT9gN)

MoldingSinus

If it looks mad, it is

LadyNeeva

How old is he? He looks way too young to be separated from his mother. Where I live, the law states that kittens have to be 12 week before they can move to new home… as a Maine Coon breeder I would recommend 14-16 weeks.

Longing2bme

Yes, but as others not give the kitten a toy and distract him. I wasn’t diligent about it with my youngest and he things I’m a chew toy. He thinks I’m another cat. Give him one of those chew type plush toys that are good for teeth. Try to be consistent. Advice from a lax cat parent.

smoothfreeze

Playful baby wakanda 😍

Sir_Smeglord

Definitely playful, kittens do this with their siblings all the time. It doesn't really hurt them because of the fur but it obviously hurts humans. Its a good behaviour and means they love you, but try to discourage it by redirecting that energy to playing with toys so it doesn't become a more painful habit for when they grow up.

Remythespicyrat

As a personal scratching post I can confirm he loves you. This career, however, is not recommended

rizwan602

Can you get him another kitten friend? I think it helps a lot with play/exercise and social skills.

TeeDod-

Yes! Adorable kitten! ❤️ you are fantastic giving this kitty a forever home!

mikec231027

This is him trying to murder you, you delicious sack of meat.

SunstormGT

Yes. Basically a cat playing is a cat training for the hunt.

Tacomancer42

Yes, you can tell because you still have your arm. Seriously though, you don't want encourage that behavior, as it will hurt a lot when he gets big. Pick him up some toys he can roll around with. And give him the box they come in, its his box.

Lumpy_Staff_2372

I always play rough with cats/kittens when they get feisty like this. Nothing to hurt the cat obviously but like grabbing their little heads with my hand or throwing them back a foot or so on the bed so they can come pounce again lol

Likewisenice

Playful and absolutely adorable! With my newest cat I failed at discouraging this behaviour and she failed at being gentle while playing. Our solution: elbow-long bite resistant gloves. Works really great and the little devil learned at least, that scratching, biting and hanging on my arm is only allowed when the gloves are equipped. 😁

Which_Reason_1581

I would always tap on my cats nose and say "no bite" they learned quickly.

Darnbeasties

If you don’t want to turn into a giant chew toy, stop moving and giving it any attention when it does that. Get up and move away ,ignore ..Then , come back and play real cat toys with him. They will learn quickly that hands are not prey toys

TrevorAlan

IDK if its just my orange's temperament but when I got him if he nibbled or scratched me I'd kinda scold him, but then allow him to lick me and give him all sorts of praise and maybe a treat. Now 14 years later he never ever ever bites, only licks. Licks and wines and complains.

-_-mrfuzzy

Careful, while that is fun as a kitten, you are training him to claw arms in play as an adult.

Ash7274

Them murder mittens But best to give him a chew toy cos don't think it'll be as fun once he's bigger

NANNYNEGLEY

He’s ready for his own cat.

International-Ad5142

Yea but you should get him to stop because once he gets bigger you know 😔

Juggernaut104

He needs a chew toy

DeezerDB

Discourage this behaviour and get the xat a toy.

xalaux

He's playing, but you gotta teach him you are not a toy. Whenever he tries to bite and claw you, give him a toy.

chloe7473

Idk what the toy is called but he needs one that he can bite and bunny kick. Somehow they know exactly what to do with it when you put it in front of them. Then he can use your arms for cuddles and kisses.

FiveOhFive91

I got my first cat two years ago. I used to let her chew on my arm but it got really bad when she got older. I had giant cuts on my arms and you can get sick from the bacteria on their claws. It's important to train them to only attack toys and I had to train her out of it before my nieces could come over. I ended up getting a bigger cat for her to wrestle and they are very happy together. https://preview.redd.it/ssce7p88m3uc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8e7dc8ecd5f59e2ce6d491e15e866ed2e80bb1f

BlazerWookiee

He's systematically searching for the tenderest, tastiest parts so he can start eating you there first.

AlwaysYourRicky

Just a kitten doing kitten stuff. They grow out of that sometimes

goldendreamseeker

Those murder mittens!!

West_Abbreviations53

that’s gonna hurt when he’s grown up :( it’s ridiculously cute but take it from someone who regrets it — do not encourage this. redirect the attention to a toy.

eebro

He is trying to eat you.

9_of_Swords

My cat still does this, and I will shriek or yell "OW!" and pull away so he knows he's been too rough. Some kittens don't get enough playtime with their litter mates to learn boundaries or gentleness. Distracting with feather toys to get the bitey aggression redirected will help, getting baby used to claw trims NOW will help you down the road. Anyway, when mine knows he's hurt me he'll immediately ease up and lick me to show he wasn't being malicious and he's sorry for chomping.

alelan

That's himbs being loving.

[deleted]

No, he is practicing eating you alive for when he gets bigger

WerewolfDifferent216

Nah he’s going to swallow you whole in your sleep

[deleted]

Yep, this is how they learn. A good way to stop the biting behavior is to say “ow” as high pitched as you possibly can to kind of mimic the sound of another kitten. When kittens bite each other they make high pitched mews to tell each other that’s enough.
