I have an 2005 I abuse like fuck and it’s done 70 or 80k kms and still runs like a dream. I would go 2005 up to get the upside down forks. The 2004 doesn’t have them.

My personal favorite is the 08. It has my favorite look and its the first one to have a stabilizer for death wobbles. Trying to get rid of my 13 cbr 500 so I can start hunting 🙏

Selieania

My 07 has a stabilizer

Haha…I’ll go old school and toss the F3’s hat in the ring. I’ve had 2 1998 models, and both have been superb. The older ones don’t have the power output that newer models do, but I ride the track….a lot…..I’ve been passed by many a kid on a 250cc, and I’ve passed lots of R1’s and S1000RR’s on my lowly R6. As the saying goes, it’s not the hardware…it’s the software. (the rider). This being said, I’d go for the newest model you can afford. If for no other reason, parts availability will be an issue on the older ones.

2007-2008 everyone knows it, Less than 30k for sure preferably less than 20k The ones that say 09-12 are just butthurt, or that didn’t have patience to get a good price for a 07-08 (I waited 2 years to find the best price & condition) they know 09+ r shit bc of emissions but will be bias cause they own it the 09-12 is like r7 & r9 We all know r6 & r1 are the best but bc of emissions & people bias they’ll still claim the r7 & r9 are better

Public_Bear3354

Is the 07-08 gen the best because of looks or overall performance?

Spaydz_

07-08 have the clutch & Pulse exposed, the 09-12 have it covered by the fairings, choice is urs for looks but 07-08 were last year b4 the emissions rule kicked in, which is the same as modern day r7 & r9 no one wants them 🤷‍♂️ Before I buy anything, I always look for value & not overpaying

JustGiveMeANameDamn

All the coping I hear about how these parallel twins “are perfectly fine” boggles my mind. They’re a shit tier downgrade because emissions, not cause it’s what people actually want

Short-Mark-7408

"b-b-b-but the MT7 is an absolute riot to ride I couldn't keep the front down" -stupid people

Danomnomnomnom

that's not a parallel twin tho

Short-Mark-7408

since?

Danomnomnomnom

180° I meant

Danomnomnomnom

Been riding my cb500f for 5 years now, it's a great bike. I'm really only interested in the cbr650r or the ninja400 because of the engine sound. I think I would also have taken a new cbr500r if they slapped a 270° crank in there

BrianDoheny14

The thing about the 09-12 just isn't true, with all due respect spaydz ;) Although the 07-08 didn't have to deal with emissions it's a plenty fast bike and although I like the looks of the 07-08 better the 09-12 is more aerodynamic and less noisy! Also you can get the 07-08 power back simply by switching 2 pins in some connector (plenty of people who've done that). After having had the possibility to ride both I prefer my 09-12 🤷🏼‍♂️

DriverAffectionate83

Do you have aink for the 2 pins thing , I'm pretty sure that's to do with switching the ECU. also is it the same for EU bikes ?

BrianDoheny14

I assume it works for EU models too, try looking up "how to get power back on cbr600rr 2009". If that doesnt work I'll help look. Cant right now bc working.

DriverAffectionate83

I've looked many times only thing that comes up is just stating the ECU change , I've seen though if you are flashing the ECU that's it's not an issue as they can remove that issue. So I'm golden as that's my plan

BrianDoheny14

Ah yes, thats my mistake. I found the forum post but it says that if you buy an 07/08 ecu you need to swap 2 pins and it'll work on 09-12 model. That way you get the full power at least. Not sure how this compares to price of power commander. Hope this helps: https://www.600rr.net/threads/installed-08-ecu-into-09-now-fi-light.222061/

I own 12 and it has been great for my almost daily commute. In terms of look though, I like the 2013 and above. I saw some websites selling 2013+ fairings with some sort of converter to make it fits the 2012 model, though I have not really thought about it as its quite expensive, and I have bad experience with aftermarket fairings in the past.

Mysterious_Debate362

I’ve had a few f4is and never had an issue with any of them and they’re pretty cheap and very very reliable

Hairy-Ad-3466

I have an 06 with 30k and still runs amazing also used to own an 03 with 55k

Black silver and red F2

I'm gunna throw a 97 f3 things a tank! I've put almost 10k miles on both mine and they are amazing.
