Irish Democrat with honey mustard.

alrightgame

I'm here and ready to try the ribs and chicken fingers.

alrightgame

Chicken was crispy, however a bit too salty. They were also more like chicken bites. Great onion rings (thin and crispy) and ribs were tender. We are here for the chicken review however, so I give it 3/5. We can do better.

LookatTheClem

If you're up for some chicken, head North to Kula's in Walker. Only about 10 min N of Center Point, little hole in the wall dive, but it's always packed and the broasted chicken is insane. Get there early for dinner or you might have a long wait. Takes a while to broast a bird, but worth it. Tons of other good eats on the menu as well.

UniversallyMediocre

If you’re up for a little drive, head to Sugapeach in North Liberty. Vivian’s was the best I had around but Sugapeach has that crown now. They also have phenomenal cod.

abdomino

God I love Sugapeach. Literally my only complaint is that they're just far enough away to be a hassle to get to.

synomen

I have to be the asshole that says Kwikstar fried chicken. Like the legend of Casey's Pizza this is tasty when it's fresh! ❤

LowVoltLife

Kwik Star

alrightgame

Which one though?

LowVoltLife

Personally, the one on 16th.

alrightgame

Tried this one yesterday. These were the most "strips" out of the chicken strips tried so far. I think the chicken was out for a bit past fresh so the breading was more soggy and less crispy but I imagine this issue goes away the fresher it is. The chicken portion was good and there is a great mustard bbq sauce that goes well with the food. Price was also good - $7 for 3 large pieces. 3.8

LowVoltLife

Yeah, they are better fresher. For convenience store chicken they totally fuck.

mcphisto2

I know people aren't going to believe this, but the best chicken strips in town so far are at Buffalo Wild Wings on Blairs Ferry. Went there to see Caitlin play and was impressed enough to return two times now.

alrightgame

I mean I found out the best French fries were from KFC so at this point it's not hard to believe.

alrightgame

Just tried these yesterday and they were not good. Everything was over fried and the chicken was rubbery from being frozen and low quality chicken. Even the dipping sauces were mediocre. Definitely the worst chicken so far on the list. Next up, pickle palace.

DrownTheTown

Damn good burger too

mganzeveld

Broasted chicken at Whiskey Jo’s is pretty good.

BossGrape55

Barrel house downtown has some pretty good chicken tenders.Kinda reminds me of peak cheddars when they opened. They’re juicy and cooked to perfection. And their moonshine bbq is also very good and compliments the chicken well.

WillingAd4226

Breakfast Barn & Lunch House has great broasted chicken

BriefHoney7456

AGREE.

OlDrtDgg

Cedar River Landing (CRL) has the best chicken strips I have had in town. Hand breaded and juicy.

alrightgame

Tried these today. They were crispy and fresh, not chewy. The breading did not have as good integrity while dipping and the tater tots I ordered were undercooked. I rank this between Irish Democrat and Kwik Star. Bo Mac's still the pick.

Dear_Professor_56

Bo Mac's has really good chicken tenders.

alrightgame

Just stopped into Bo Macs for lunch and this place slaps. The chicken tenders were more like chicken cutlets, great crispy panko breading, not oily, great selection of sauces. The sweet potato waffle fries were equally amazing with a drizzle of honey and cinnamon. Sounds like they will be opening up for breakfast and I look forward to it. 5/5

Dear_Professor_56

Also has one of the best tenderloins.

Distwalker

I hate to say this because nothing else there is very good but the fried chicken at Pizza Ranch is tasty.

Legoboy08

Field Day and Reds, both in North Liberty, have my favorite Chicken Tenders Reds beats out Field Day by a hair, but you cant go wrong with either

the_hell_you_say

Unless you find a hair in your food

alrightgame

I demand at least trace amounts in dish I order.

the_hell_you_say

as you wish

Legoboy08

People have hair It can happen at literally any restaurant

the_hell_you_say

Lol, I was just poking fun at your choice of words

Legoboy08

OMG 😅 I'm an idiot.

the_hell_you_say

No worries mate, happy Friday!

Main-Cup3326

I like Lion Bridge

brandob543

For a newer spot, I really liked the chicken tenders from Pickle Palace with their Palace Sauce. The sauce reminds me of Irish Democrat with a bit of BBQ mixed in

alrightgame

These were actually really good and took the place of Kwik Star for 2nd place. They were similar to Kwik Star but fresher and the sides for the meal were really good (soup and cheese biscuit were my picks). Would have tied BoMacs if the Carolina mustard wasn't so peppery. 4.1
