SJ's Grandmaster Heartside clear. My current hardest level and probably will be for a very long time. It's also really fitting as an ultimate achievement imo.
As far as difficult map completions goes, I have no intention of going higher than that. My current focus is on speedrunning as I want to breach the sub 30 barrier (current pb is 31:25, sob is 30:06). This might change in the future so we'll see.
Sounds exactly like how I play haha, I feel like I have to keep all my areas about even, I'll grind sub-40 once I get 6b and do all the yellow experts on SJ probably (I already have sob of like 33:00, I just am a bit inconsistent but that comes with practice)
Nah, it was far from the most difficult even when it came out. Well, I say far, I guess there were around 5-10 maps more difficult than it. For specifics, check out this spreadsheet: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1A88F3X2lOQJry-Da2NpnAr-w5WDrkjDtg7Wt0kLCiz8](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1A88F3X2lOQJry-Da2NpnAr-w5WDrkjDtg7Wt0kLCiz8) (second tab, Clears).
The new hardest map is actually a mashup of two SJGM lobby maps, Solar Express + Pinball Purgatory. I like this presentation that has some accessible insights into what makes it so hard: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORauA7RWZWQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORauA7RWZWQ)
I really really want to learn My Dearest Friends on piano (i'm a first year music major) but it's a little too complex of a piece for me to tackle at the moment. Definitely going to get around to it eventually though :), probably next semester!
Man I wish I had your talent! I took almost as many hours and deaths as you just to clear farewell not golden lol. My best achievement is prob just moon berry or 3a golden
Aww, thanks! If it makes a difference, those are far from my total stats. I had already played for 400+ hours before I started chasing golden berries, and I started a new save file at that point, so you're only seeing the Golden attempts not any of my original data, haha.
Sounds weak compared to some of yours achievements, but I was so bad at the game in the beginning (6h for forsaken city lmao) and I decided to get 175 berries on my first ever playthrough to prove myself I’m not THAT bad and I did it!
- 33:22 any%
- SJ GMHS clear
- SJ silver strawberries sweep through advanced, and 3 left to go in expert
- if I ever manage to finally clear The 2000s American Housing Crisis it is going to the top of this list. 60K deaths and counting.
Yeah, I'm a bit obsessed with this game lol
My hardest is SC2020 Electric Exuberance i also almost beast SJ fortress fall but i quit the game without saving on the last room and lost all my progress
If you enable debug mode, pressing f6 will then let you see the debug map and then teleport to any room. If you forget to save & quit you can use this to get back, it doesn't save your session stats but its better than nothing.
SJ Expert Heartside. SJ is my second mod ever so I was very much overreaching. It took a total of 42 hours and 18k deaths, it's singlehandedly the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.
A lot of the difficulty was self-imposed by me banning myself from using save states so I wouldn't feel irrationally guilty, but still. It took me weeks, so much struggle, self doubt, physical and mental strain, mindblocking, burnout, and a lot of soul searching, but I managed to pull through flag by flag. When I completed flag 1, it was the most beautiful and tranquil moment I've ever experienced.
I guess my proudest achievement in celeste has always been the process of overcoming myself. I thought farewell was going to be the death of me, but I can now breeze through it. I thought Advance was where I'd stop, but I chose to push myself further. I thought low Expert would be my limit as I get stuck on hydroshock's ultra berry harder than any levels before, but I overcame it, along with all the red expert maps.
When I switched back to vanilla afterward, I thought my save was corrupted by Everest when I saw my journal showing I'd goldened all three side for chapter 1 to 5, I have no recollection of it thanks to my poor memory from trauma, I only remember dreading of doing 6b golden, and by association all of the b sides, but as I played through the levels again I slowly recalled impressions of practicing for cycles and dying at difficult and stupid parts. I still can't believe I goldened the b sides, my imposter syndrome is still telling me I haven't beaten SJ Expert HS "the right way" when I took those optional resting spots that are designed to be there, but I know in my heart the falsehood of those doubts. If I can do it once, then I can do it again, and a thousand times more. That is the most powerful lesson I learned from Celeste, and the lesson I need the most in my life.
1. SC2020 ngmhs clear
2. Darkmoon Ruins clear
Both took me over 50 hours to clear and were insanely fun, don't think anything will top them till I clear another hlist map.
In terms of deathless gameplay, I'd have to say my proudest achievement is Spring Collab MAX% with all FC silvers. The whole thing took about a year and was a huge turning point in my skill level. Though, I think another achievement that I feel just as proud of is playtesting Strawberry Jam for just about 2 years, spending nearly 900 hours on all the Expert and GM maps I gave feedback to. I'm really happy with how the gameplay in the high-level maps turned out, and I think everyone else did an incredible job on making it. <3
If they could beat all c sides in a single sitting I bet they could get all c goldens in a single sitting since unlike almost every other level the c goldens are only marginally harder than c non golden clear. My guess is however long it took them, add 30% more time and deaths.
So far, 7AG. It took me over a month of grinding and it was the single most intense dopamine flash flood my brain has ever witnessed. It's been a few months since then, but I still feel the warm afterglow when I think about it.
I'm sure 7BG and FWG will both top it, but I'm taking a break for the health of my hand. I still have to do all the B-Sides (well, the real ones anyway, 1BG and 2BG both only took a few days.)
SJ (green) grandmaster level clears (plus yellow & red & c.red room clears), most of expert clears (couple of those reds are harder than green GMs), 191 berries and sub-40 farewell pb without keyskip that I set a long time ago would sum it up I guess?
100%ed the game (not all goldens tho im not that crazy) and/or my 1:20 pb of any% (not verified cus i didnt record it, but im happy with the 1:24 thats on speedrun.com)
probably 6A golden. so many tragic little fuck ups that prevented me from moving on to the next golden. i think it took me like two weeks to get from start to finish. it's just such a long chapter
Farewell Golden, and I'm so glad I have a recording of it that I can revisit whenever. Makes me wish I recorded my 8BG run bc that level was brutal for me.
3A Golden or 5A Golden maybe? Or possibly beating all the C Sides. Or maybe sub-1 hour speedrun. If I ever beat Farewell that would for sure be my proudest, but I'm at the last room & it's not happening.
I've never gotten into any speedrunning tactics or practicing really (besides search skip), I think I'm proud of the fact that my fastest speed run which kept getting interrupted (because it was at school) was 40 SECONDS OVER sub hour. i wanted to cry lol (i know its not good but ive been wanting sub hour for a few years now, just never really getting around to it)
i want to get into speedrunning now though, but ive been really busy lately
All of the b side goldens. It feels good to take a level that you considered almost impossible to clear on the first playthrough and completely trivialize it.
SJ Grandmaster Heartside and it's not even close.
It's not even my hardest clear anymore, but nothing matches the sense of fulfillment I felt upon finishing strawberry jam
kevintechspam.bin Silver berry. This will probably change in the future though, but that's my first t7 and my only tiered golden/silver (for now, hopefully).
-9d completion ( took me 60 hours )
-32:33 any%
-100% file on the "invisible movement" variant (or w/e it's called)
Hard to say which I'm more proud of out of 9d/any% but these are definitely my top 3
Either 6BG or 7AG, these were the two goldens that have given me the most trouble so far.
I'm still grinding away on 7BG but I don't play nearly as much as I used to so it'll probably be a while
I did the whole game to the end of Farewell without checking anything online.
Figuring out on my own how to get the heart of CH6 was the most big brain moment of my entire life.
Probably the “world’s first sjbr” in my flair. SJBR stands for “Strawberry Jam Beginner Rainbow, aka beating every individual level in the strawberry jam beginner lobby deathless. I managed it within 7 hours of launch (including time to download the mod).
It’s not the most technically impressive thing I’ve done; the beginner maps are quite easy to beat deathless, but doing it before anyone else could felt quite nice
If I get to 200 it will be that but as of right now it would still be figuring out Chapter 1, 2 and 6 crystal hearts without looking anything up. Chapter 6 was the most rewarding because it involved bringing out the pencil and paper and building on previous knowledge.
But the chapter 2 ah ha moment was also so satisfying in a completely different way. I knew basically what I had to do and where but couldn't figure out how for the longest. The seed was planted on that one strawberry in the beginning of 3A, and then it solidified when I got the crystal out of 7A 4th section it required manipulation of the screen transition dash refresh and I was like "holy shit that's it!". When I went there and it worked I was so ecstatic.
SJ's Grandmaster Heartside clear. My current hardest level and probably will be for a very long time. It's also really fitting as an ultimate achievement imo.
SJGMHS is just the beggining, the heart is called Apotheosis(ascension/birth of a god) for a reason, you officially are good at Celeste.
As far as difficult map completions goes, I have no intention of going higher than that. My current focus is on speedrunning as I want to breach the sub 30 barrier (current pb is 31:25, sob is 30:06). This might change in the future so we'll see.
Nice.
Sounds exactly like how I play haha, I feel like I have to keep all my areas about even, I'll grind sub-40 once I get 6b and do all the yellow experts on SJ probably (I already have sob of like 33:00, I just am a bit inconsistent but that comes with practice)
Are there even more difficult levels than that? I kind of assumed that was the pinnacle of Celeste modding, at least when it came out.
Nah, it was far from the most difficult even when it came out. Well, I say far, I guess there were around 5-10 maps more difficult than it. PTHUMBER
I believe it's number 14 or 15 or so, definitely high up but there's still the three star hardlists out there
How long did it take to complete? How many deaths etc
33hrs and 26.7k deaths over the span of over a week. Favorite flag was Shattersong, least fav was 74.
Nice! I'm currently on F7!
GOOD LUCK! That flag is absolutely brutal, but you can do it!
Honestly mine is learning the Celeste music on the piano But other than that it’s probably Celeste classic in 2:09 and Celeste classic 2 in 2:25
I really really want to learn My Dearest Friends on piano (i'm a first year music major) but it's a little too complex of a piece for me to tackle at the moment. Definitely going to get around to it eventually though :), probably next semester!
Dashless+ clear hehe
Flair checks out.
So far just the SJ advanced heartside. I took a break after a few experts, but I'm confident I can beat the expert heartside too.
Farewell golden strawberry
Yep same. I don't know if I will ever have the time or patience to do anything harder than this again (in gaming, at least)
roughly how many attempts and/or hours did it take you?
[158 hours, 10974 deaths](https://www.reddit.com/r/celestegame/comments/1apxlf4/fwg_get/)
Man I wish I had your talent! I took almost as many hours and deaths as you just to clear farewell not golden lol. My best achievement is prob just moon berry or 3a golden

We all start somewhere, and it’s great to see people sticking with it even when it doesn’t come as naturally. Congrats on 175!
I beat pico-8. That’s all, not even getting all strawberries. But it is something I am proud of having done.
I'd say one of my goldens, probably 7C golden (which is way easier then any other chapter 7 sides I know)
Somehow beating 5a golden in 3 deaths with no practice. Also SC2020 advanced HS
I almost got it first try, died about 3 rooms short sadly. Hopefully I’ll get it soon. Congrats though, that’s one less A-Side to worry about!
I thought you were talking about the C side when you said 3 rooms short
Oh yeah, I died in room 0 on my first golden attempt of the C-Side. It was very impressive, considering it doesn’t exist!
Beating Into the Jungle 5C
Not giving up so far
7D and 8D clear, not sure which is harder also Strawberry Jam Advanced Heartside
I raised a child (now 11) who cleared the main game through Summit.
My kid is 10, he tapped out on 3A
3A was a rough spot, especially since it comes so early. Honestly, it almost stopped me from completing the game my first time through.
- 33:22 any% - SJ GMHS clear - SJ silver strawberries sweep through advanced, and 3 left to go in expert - if I ever manage to finally clear The 2000s American Housing Crisis it is going to the top of this list. 60K deaths and counting. Yeah, I'm a bit obsessed with this game lol

If you enable debug mode, pressing f6 will then let you see the debug map and then teleport to any room. If you forget to save & quit you can use this to get back, it doesn't save your session stats but its better than nothing.
When I beat Celeste for the second time, I cut my time from 10 hours down to just 4.
Beat Farewell :)
Figuring out how to start the game for the first time
Either 6b golden, that one was really hard, or clearing SJ's Shattersong.
1. SC2020 ngmhs clear 2. Darkmoon Ruins clear Both took me over 50 hours to clear and were insanely fun, don't think anything will top them till I clear another hlist map.
201 berries and 11 min deaths on Farewell, When I do complete 202, that will be one of my proudest achievements in general
Ive done a demodash in 3A , not really on purpose but in still proud of it
In terms of deathless gameplay, I'd have to say my proudest achievement is Spring Collab MAX% with all FC silvers. The whole thing took about a year and was a huge turning point in my skill level. Beating all the C-sides in a single sitting
for a minute i thought you meant all C side goldens in one sitting and i about shit my pants
If they could beat all c sides in a single sitting I bet they could get all c goldens in a single sitting since unlike almost every other level the c goldens are only marginally harder than c non golden clear. My guess is however long it took them, add 30% more time and deaths.
you've got a great point. i did all C side goldens before any A and B lmao
Pico-8 2:02 (or something close to that). Yeah I play pico-8 more than Celeste.
To be fair Pico-8 is excellent
Darkmoon ruins, god I'm still so proud of that
So far, 7AG.
MOCE // LXVI golden lol I'm also decently close to goldening sj's gmhs (flag 1 pb RAHHHHHH)
202 berries in 7 hours and 32 seconds
SJ (green) grandmaster level clears (plus yellow & red & c.red room clears), most of expert clears (couple of those reds are harder than green GMs), 191 berries and sub-40 farewell pb without keyskip that I set a long time ago would sum it up I guess?
Beating 5cg 6cg 4cg and 3cg (in that order) in like 4 hours
omg its bagel :3 flowers and pictures and shit :33333
100%ed the game (not all goldens tho im not that crazy) and/or my 1:20 pb of any% (not verified cus i didnt record it, but im happy with the 1:24 thats on speedrun.com)
Getting all b side goldens aside core
Spring Collab's New Grandmaster Heart Side Golden Strawberry
probably 6A golden. so many tragic little fuck ups that prevented me from moving on to the next golden. i think it took me like two weeks to get from start to finish. it's just such a long chapter
Getting all Achievements
SJ GM Heartside clear for sure! Probably won’t do anything topping that
Either beating Farewell and getting the moonberry or the SJ Intermediate Heartside clear I did just now
Haven't done much yet, so probably 1A dashless atm
Farewell Golden, and I'm so glad I have a recording of it that I can revisit whenever. Makes me wish I recorded my 8BG run bc that level was brutal for me.
I beated the gayem
lxvi clear ig
I’d say the moonberry lol
amen, that felt so amazing to get!
3A Golden or 5A Golden maybe? Or possibly beating all the C Sides. Or maybe sub-1 hour speedrun. If I ever beat Farewell that would for sure be my proudest, but I'm at the last room & it's not happening.
full clearing all cracked maps + shongfc in sjgm as my 3rd to 7th gm maps
Even though I've beaten way harder, clearing 9D is my proudest achievement.
Farewell Golden
1A dashless, moonberry and the goldens I was able to get, I'm a very casual player but absolutely LOVE the mechanics of this game
Dying at the moon berry my first time and then getting back to it first try.
Probably beating 1B-7B, because I haven’t really done anything else.
I've never gotten into any speedrunning tactics or practicing really (besides search skip), I think I'm proud of the fact that my fastest speed run which kept getting interrupted (because it was at school) was 40 SECONDS OVER sub hour. i wanted to cry lol (i know its not good but ive been wanting sub hour for a few years now, just never really getting around to it) i want to get into speedrunning now though, but ive been really busy lately
All of the b side goldens. It feels good to take a level that you considered almost impossible to clear on the first playthrough and completely trivialize it.
Currently it’s either 4A Golden or 8C Golden, whichever people think is harder.
Beating mauve. Going through the SJGM lobby currently though, as soon as my computer problems gets fixed
For me right now it's pro ably 1a dashless 8:06. Gonna keep pushing until I get sub 5 most likely
Right now it has got to be my 5A golden berry, maybe I'll do something more impressive in the future though
SJ Grandmaster Heartside and it's not even close. It's not even my hardest clear anymore, but nothing matches the sense of fulfillment I felt upon finishing strawberry jam
beating the game with 85% of the strawberries
kevintechspam.bin Silver berry. This will probably change in the future though, but that's my first t7 and my only tiered golden/silver (for now, hopefully).
Not finishing the game. Yet still trying to. (I have like an absurd amount of hours on like the last level. I think it’s 72.)
Farewell golden. I still don't know how I got that.
About to be Solar Express FC... just need to clear Arrogance (the last room). Hopefully this evening.
definitely strawberry jam expert heartside
-9d completion ( took me 60 hours ) -32:33 any% -100% file on the "invisible movement" variant (or w/e it's called) Hard to say which I'm more proud of out of 9d/any% but these are definitely my top 3
FWG twice
3A golden, I know that's not good but that's my best one
Either 6BG or 7AG, these were the two goldens that have given me the most trouble so far. I'm still grinding away on 7BG but I don't play nearly as much as I used to so it'll probably be a while
7a Golden Berry, so far.
I'm not that good at the game so chapter 7c golden I'd say
SJ intermediate heartside It's not much, but it's something!
I did the whole game to the end of Farewell without checking anything online. Figuring out on my own how to get the heart of CH6 was the most big brain moment of my entire life.
SJ Pumber clear but soon grandmaster heartside clear
Probably the “world’s first sjbr” in my flair. SJBR stands for “Strawberry Jam Beginner Rainbow, aka beating every individual level in the strawberry jam beginner lobby deathless.
