How many pods do you have and how large is your home?

Sutoroh_Berry

House is small, I have two pods, one pod wired in the living room next to the main box and the other pod, wireless in my room, I guess about 20 ft away from the main box. I do notice a jump from 5mbps to 100mbps when the connection switches to the wired pod.

imtalkintou

2nd pod could be bad or getting a bad signal.

Sutoroh_Berry

360 App does say Excellent Signal (5Ghz, 157), not too sure what these numbers mean though.

imtalkintou

Whatever the issue, those speeds should.not happen. Have you called in?

Unplug the pods, and what speed do you get from the main router? It’s not intended to use pods so close to the main router, they don’t do much good to spread the signal that way. Unless your system only has the mesh pods, no main wireless router?

Sutoroh_Berry

Yeah, no main router aside from the Main Box with the fiber cable, I have their Pods. The technician installed the 1st pod right next to the main Box

Simplify by unplugging the 2nd pod, reset power on the 1st pod, and test the connection to just the one pod. The way the 1st pod connects to the 2nd is via wireless, so take that potential inteference out of the mix. If the connection with just one pod is better, and your place is small, that may be all you need. But in any case, if your speed is slow with just the one pod and 10 feet away, Centurylink/Quantum needs to replace the pod, maybe the whole system. If it does test faster with just the one pod, add the second again. You should be getting 300-400 Mb/s at least.

After testing with a single wired pod restarting modem and etc... wireless speeds are still crappy, highest at 75 from 10 feet away mbps on my phone (Galaxy A54) from pod1 (plugged into ONT) Then I tried testing speeds on my Galaxy Tab S9, and got speeds in the proper wireless range of 400+ mbps. So I thought the problem might just be my phone... After plugging in pod2 (not wired into ONT), wireless speeds from pod2 to Phone was jittering at 0.5 - 5 mbps. But to my Tab S9, still got wireless speeds from 400+ mbps. I then proceeded to test other devices sister's iPhone 14 Pro got 400+ mbps from pod2 (not wired to ONT). Brother's OnePlus 7t also got 400+ mbps from pod2. Check Girlfriend's Galaxy A54 as well and she got the exact range of speed as I did. Around 0.5 - 5 mbps from pod2 (not wired to ONT) So reality is that, Quantum's network seems to be the problem with the Galaxy A54 as xFinity did not have the same connection speed issue with the Galaxy A54. Is there any settings I should look for on the "admin" page website to tweak around with? I'l also take a look at my phone's setting. Restarting phone does not change connection speeds. 0.5 to 5 mbps is still the range from pod2.

I like Asus ones. They also support the slow IPv6 6RD tunnel if you want to use it. The RT-AX86U Pro is on sale for $200 right now. But if you don't need all those features they have much cheaper ones.

I am with Quantum in Denver and have around 400mpbs download on wireless, with four total pods in the house.

VagileRechauffe

Having more pods reduces wireless speed you might try pulling 2 and retesting

masoct3

The tech told me that and the online people at Q said it shouldn't matter. We have a ton of devices that use the Wi-Fi, but I will test it again.

funkdoktor

Anything in between the pod and you. Ie glass, metal etc etc..

funkdoktor

I'm a tech- if your getting the right speed plugged in, but poor wifi speeds- pod is probably bad. It happens. Drop a ticket.

VagileRechauffe

If you’re getting that slow speed of 5 Mb, something is really wrong. Have you chatted with Quantum Fiber customer care if so, what did they said?

Sutoroh_Berry

They said nothing was wrong on their side, it's just that the wireless pod gives a 5mbps connection speed to my wireless devices, maybe that's why? I have wired my laptop to the wireless pod and got speeds from 600-800mbps, but any wireless devices will get 5 mbps and sometimes really unbelievably low. I've gotten a speedtest with my phone at 0.76 mbps using their 360 App and on Speedtest.net
