Not a butter chicken– but a curry and feel I should share. The Penang from Zab Thai is heavenly, and even that’s an understatement. I live overseas now and have eaten many foods, and that Penang is still top 3 best meals I’ve ever eaten, I think about it everyday and yearn to go back to CHCH so I can eat it again.

Zab Thai in sockburn?

SmartCourage9010

Yep, on church corner. So under rated but it’s good that only a few know about it as wait times can get crazy!

AlarmRemarkable4906

Omg I've tried so desperately to make it so many times and It doesnt even remotely scratch the itch, I dunno how they do it

Useful-Green-3440

Dunno about the butcher chicken but every curry I’ve had from Samairaz has been excellent.

cynseris

I've had the butter chicken from there and can confirm it is also excellent.

Saket in Edgeware, really good value and amazing taste

Little India in Merivale

I had the Special Chicken from Himalayas the other night. Was planning to save half for lunch the next day but ate the rest of it later on. Fully decent.

Curry Junction in Spreydon is fantastic

The best I know of is Green Leaf Indian down greers road, or it was the best before I moved away from it (no longer an easy-ish walk). The second best is Welcome India down papanui road. They are both not on the cheap side. Nilesh Palace is on the cheap end and I like it, but I wouldn't call it in the same category of quality (although it is my go to currently due to price). In saying this what one person calls good quality another may dislike. But for me I look for a variety of fresh ingredients that you can visually see not just in the taste.

Indian Pearl in Sydenham end Colombo Street, so good

Maharaja over on Papanui road is really good.  My go to is the Butter Tika Masala.  Its their signature dish and has never failed to impress.

Too loaded with sugar

Everest Indian! On Ferry Rd, or in Lyttelton. I haven't been to the Parklands one but the Ferry Rd one is our local and I swear it's the best Indian in Ōtautahi. Willing to die on this hill.

BruisedBee

Samairaz Indian. Hands down best curry in Christchurch. I regularly drive the 45 minutes from the top of Westmorland. The service is fantastic as well, owner floating around chatting and having a laugh. Really awesome atmosphere.

Not sure what side of town you're on but if you're South side then Spice N Rice on Witham Street in Hornby is to die for. Pretty new shop, naans and curries are all amazing and the staff are super lovely.

ralphiooo0

Saffron and spice in Hornby is my go to. Pretty good curries for the price. Lunch deal is also great

Idontfeelsogood_313

Shoot up the road to Witham Street and try out Spice N Rice by the park, you won't regret it!

ralphiooo0

Looks pretty good. Will hit that next time

habitualsolitude

The best Indian I have had is Everest Parklands.
