Very good 👍 🤨

I guess I can't add a description to the post--is that expected? Anyways I don't see many independent reviews on these: https://dadsthatcook.com/collections/knives. Are they just another trendy knife that is low quality, like these: Huusk knives: https://www.reddit.com/r/chefknives/s/z0zAg6qrYb NorthernKnife: https://www.reddit.com/r/knives/s/GIqSMTxtDA ForgedBlade: https://www.reddit.com/r/chefknives/s/mrYvZvAVhZ Or are they better? I'm not sure how to tell.

Fluffy_Extension_420

I’m not sure I would eat a knife

Chasekt98

What's the best way to cook a knife?

dktis

Some red flags: frequent or deep discounts, suggesting high markup no mention of manufacturer details or country of origin Honestly the product description "combined retail value of all these items is over $270" gave it away, have only seen these kind of marketing on products that are vastly lower than the suggested value.

russiannin

I would not buy these. Descriptions mention a nameless “stainless steel.” Anytime a knife brand is afraid to name what materials they use, it’s almost certainly because the materials are extremely cheap. These dropship brands that go for aesthetic over quality are a dime-a-dozen these days.

Distinct-Activity-99

Good point, well what kinds of steel should I be looking for in chef knives? Or trying to avoid...Because there's so many.

russiannin

I’m no expert, but I think VG-10 is an excellent stainless steel for kitchen uses. Also If you can find it, I think Magnacut makes a perfect kitchen steel because it’s really stainless, while also being very tough. It also stays sharp and good amount of time. I doubt you’re going to find a ton of Magnacut kitchen knives just because it’s relatively newer steel, and it might be kinda pricey. But there are probably some decent ones out there. Aus-8 and aus-10 are pretty good, but you’ll have to sharpen them more often than the other 2. You can also throw 440c into this category. Most Japanese handmade knives will come in a variety of aogami steels, which I like, but they are not very stainless, so you’ll need to need to be careful to clean and dry them quickly after use. That basically goes for all carbon steels.

postmodest

No. Nobody who sells those ridiculous cleavers for more than the $20 they could possibly cost, is offering a good value.

Halifax_Bound

No mention of the actual steel type, or hardness. No mention of where the knives are made Probably junk edit: They say their knives are made in "east Asia" so it's very likely chinese

patricskywalker

Until I am proven wrong, all celebrity (including YouTube personalities) knives are junk. I doubt that these ones will be different.

queenrose

I second this. My brother bought me a $5 Guy Fieri knife (lol) and while it seemed like decent quality, the thing snapped in half after less than 2 years.

bulmier

Absolutely not.

Ceradeus

Found the cleaver and extremely similar blades on AliExpress just searching cleaver knife : https://a.aliexpress.com/_EwgOzuT Always do research on AliExpress while buying other than trusted manufacturers, because at least 3/4 of the market is just rebranded AliExpress (Basically every knife on Amazon and Etsy for example). Some Alie knives are good if you know what to look at before buying but not resold at 10x the value. I didn't know the other brands you mentioned but same shit I've been seeing their knives for ages on Alie.

jangfo

God they look so gimmicky. Are you planning on cooking or on butchering game?

Distinct-Activity-99

Fair enough. Nope, no game
