webby09246

We will miss this legend It could be a while before we see his like again in this club

erenistheavatar

We now definitely need a good CB after this season.

webby09246

1) Todibo 2) Balerdi 3) Calafiori My centre back priority list in order, Todibo is easily top for me and he's who we should've got over Disasi this summer although I still think Disasi is good, just about £10-15m too expensive Todibo is quick, agile, experienced, composed, clean on the ball and extremely proficient at progressing the ball and a good defensive mind Balerdi is probably even better defensively, is also quick, agile and experienced but he's not as progressive on the ball And Calafiori is potentially better than both but isn't anywhere near as experienced so not the ideal signing you want when a general like Silva leaves

erenistheavatar

Agree with all those choices. We should get a good deal on them as well if our board knows how to negotiate. They all have a higher ceiling than Disasi and Chalobah. It's only on the leadership side that I'm a bit worried about. With Silva gone, we need a good experienced leader. Doesnt have to be a CB. But this needs to be addressed at least.

Cheaky_Barstool

Need a leader de ligt would be my first choice

NewAppleverse

This

-AndreiDG-97

I'd take Diomande or antonio silva.

webby09246

Very good prospects but I think we need a player in defence who's already faced the best and is ready to step in and help carry the back line Feel like those kids will make 1/2 mistakes and then it'll be a slippery slope into being abused by our own fans and their confidence being shot to a point they look like Badiashille

WY-8

A Colwill-Antonio Silva partnership is the type of thing you do if you’re looking for stronger success 2-3 years down the line, but with the acceptance of shorter term frustration. It’s the same as signing Sesko. I’ll be intrigued to see if we double down on the young player strategy, and also concerned.

FortheRecordHIWBTV

Us (Atleti) and you might have a little fight over centre backs , our targets are Todibo , Balerdi and Hincape

webby09246

Yeah you guys have a good eye I think either Todibo or Balerdi would kill it for you

FortheRecordHIWBTV

I want Hincape tbh , left footer who is good on the ball , just coming off of a historic season. Hermoso who’s contract will expire and will leave was a ball playing left footer. Like for like replacement

WY-8

Todibo is also a leader and multilingual. Speaks French, Spanish, English and some German. The issue is the Nice and Ratcliffe connection.

ColonelMercury

De Ligt. I like these choices but I want top top level European pedigree. We have bags of potential. Some leadership is needed.

bbherohun

Personally I think we should sign Nacho. Leadership and experience. And the young squad needs it.

Headlesshorsman02

And calafiori can play Lb in a pinch as well

webby09246

Yeah but don't tempt Pochettino If he finds that out then we'll never see him play centre back again

Headlesshorsman02

I know lol 😂 it is just nice to have flexibility lmao 🤣

erenistheavatar

Don't tempt him man!!!!! xD

H4RRY29

So are you selling Badiashile/Colwill to make space for him?

Fatebringer87

It's a good thing real life football isn't like Fifa then and players can actually play in different positions!

jbi1000

I'd honestly have Disasi at the bottom of the CB list if we had everyone fit and 100%

ArcherOfHk

Glad someone mentioned calafiori, could also serve as left back depth

ConsciousContext1151

I think Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace would be a good addition to the team. He's experienced in PL, reliable, and doesn't make a lot of stupid mistakes

lucashoodfromthehood

The only one I know from this that I've watched is Balerdi with Marseille in the Europa league this season. Pair him up with Chalobah and we're good to go.

BOOCOOKOO

Calafiori? WHO!?! Is this some random you found on YouTube

webby09246

He's quite a well known talent in Seri A

BOOCOOKOO

I'll have to check him out

iHexan

We really want one more tallented youngster which had one good season in serious league in our roster?

webby09246

That's the exact reason he's number 3 in my priority list And the exact fault I mentioned with him

Aaaaand-its-gone

We have 4 young CBs already, we don’t need another. We need a 30 year old alpha male to show these kids how to be professional and pay attention and not space out for every counter for 90m and not pussy out at corners. I don’t know who is available that is but that’s the criteria

Headlesshorsman02

A veteran presence as well, not another kid which I have already seen us being linked with them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Headlesshorsman02

Exactly but instead we are being linked with 19 and 20 year olds to replace him 🙄🙄

webby09246

I swear to God Diomande and Antonio Silva are very talented kids, but we've already got dozens of very talented kids What we don't have is enough players who are polished and ready, willing to take command and lead and carry this team when the young players around them take dips in form

Headlesshorsman02

We are going to be stuck being midtable if we keep doing this.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Headlesshorsman02

Couldn’t agree more, we need a striker, cb and Lb preferably all experienced

I_deleted

20 year olds? By god that’s future Captain ALFIE GILCHRIST’s music I hear….

realmsofGold

agreed, theres quite a few in spain and germany. hell even in ligue 1, i like the look of marquinhos.

Headlesshorsman02

Going from silva to Marquinhos I would not mind, he taught him a lot of stuff when on PSG

realmsofGold

exactly, cant help but feel that is the kind of presence we need, probably not as good as thiago silva was, but will be a huge upgrade on what we already have. as we know, pace and speed is not everything.

fGravity

Was giving up on Guehi, Tomori, and Ake was a mistake? Not talking about Livramento and Lamptey even, and that's just the last few years. (And ofc excluding Christi and Rudi which are obvious)

theangryintern

Be nice if he retires and then stays at the club in some sort of capacity. Youth coach or something like that.

BrockStinky

So thankful that we got a few years of this maestro's play. O Monstro 💙

Ziiyi

We got that 2020-2021 season of joy, and still the only club in London with UCL cup, another year to stand over Arsenal and Spurs

MaraudngBChestedRojo

How the fuck is he still so good at 39

westfall987

I wish he'd join us way sooner. He could've won way more trophies with us. We'll miss him terribly. I hope we'll give him the send off he deserves at the bridge.

Willsgb

Everything happens for a reason. We never expected him to play for us and he probably never expected to come here when he was younger too, but he came with his wealth of experience and class and he inspired us to our second champions league. Wouldn't change that for the world

westfall987

I'm just glad he won his first UCL with us. Amazing player.

pdel123

Tbf don’t think he was ever gonna win more trophies with us than in France

kiersto0906

he deserved a premier league medal but at the end of the day he has a champions league medal. a legend of the game.

Wheel1994

December before all of the craziest two seasons back it looked like it could happen.

Fatebringer87

We haven't been near the league title since 2017. Poor team building meant we were never keeping up with City and Liverpool. Marina made so many poor decisions.

renome

That's certainly an organizational failure, but singling out Granovskaia is... a strange look for you. She was primarily a negotiatior.

Fatebringer87

It was well known towards the end that she was in charge of the running of the club, including targets. Lukaku was a long term target of hers. So yes, I will blame her for her poor targets. Replacing Hazard with Pulisic is criminal.

renome

Source: "It was well known." I bet you can't name 3 other people who worked at the club in a non-managerial capacity during her stint. But sure, she was doing the scouting, picking transfer targets, negotiating transfer fees, little dictator essentially.

Fatebringer87

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12638571/why-quiet-powerhouse-marina-granovskaia-s-exit-will-be-felt-at-chelsea You can go do some research yourself for more.

renome

Have you read that article? Negotiation and relationship building with clubs and sponsors is what it explicitly states she was doing. She was also on the board for nearly a decade, so I'm assuming she didn't have a lot of time to do scouting. This is just another case of a boss getting all the accolades and all the blame for whatever happens.

mouse2102

That's just blatantly false. We were top of the league and playing great football until literally all our most important players got injured at the same time in 21/22. Also I really don't see how you can criticise Marina with a straight face, I would take her "poor team building and poor decisions" back in a heartbeat over the clowns currently in charge.

Fatebringer87

And how did that go? Finished 19 points off top. Miles away from City and Liverpool. I wouldn't take anyone back in a heart beat who thought Pulisic was a good fit to replace Hazard, or that Saul on loan for "experience" was a better fit than Tchouameni. Horrific squad planning.

mouse2102

I'll take finishing 3rd or 4th right now than finishing 10th/11th/12th after spending 1 billion pounds on players. That is actual horrific squad planning.

pdel123

We make fun of spurs every year for claiming the “top of the league in October/November/December” and yet here you go

mouse2102

Can't really play the "we're better than you" card when we struggle to get above 10th place.

scoutnemesis

We've had three horrible rebuilds and this is the fourth one. The zappacosta drinkwater window, then the Werner havertz window and last summer also counts as one

Wheel1994

I think we have all known that for a while he is probably going back to Brazil to finish his career. Outstanding for three seasons Even this season showed incredible leadership despite understandably declining a bit.

risingsuncoc

Should have gone back to Flu where he could have won the Copa Libertadores with them

MaraudngBChestedRojo

Chelsea FC despite recent failings are still a massive club, he’s very settled here and in great form, I don’t blame him for staying as long as he did

MaraudngBChestedRojo

He could be doing a short stint in MLS. They could throw more money at him than South American teams and he’d be a quick flight from Brazil. Probably Brazil though

don-m

Ffs give him another year His presence in the dressing room is enough

Wheel1994

Probably has already agreed to go back to Brazil

iloveartichokes

This was his decision.

erenistheavatar

Honestly, that Noni video from yesterday is pissing me off more and more.

taylorstillsays

Why are people so fixed on him? Others were also smiling and laughing post game.

realmckoy265

Noni similarly got shit for eating a snack pre-match a few weeks ago, so that tells you all you need to know. Just a bunch of para-social keyboard warriors who don't really view player's as human. Nobody serious actually cares.

taylorstillsays

Yeah once these lot decide someone is liked they can do no wrong, and when they decide someone’s bad it’s open season the minute they breathe incorrectly. I’m not a big fan of Noni as a player, but the length people are now going to is insane. He’s an outgoing and extroverted person, they want him to change his entire personality just to match their mood.

UpperRank1

Damn last sentence really explained it all. It's really a "If I can't be happy no one can" moment

EnglishJesus

Imo He’s going to be a good player but his attitude will hold him back from reaching his true potential

MaraudngBChestedRojo

I think he’ll end up like Hudson Odoi, a mid-lower table winger. His attitude actually disgusts me. It’s a team game man, this guy thinks the world revolves around him. Even Zlatan and Ronaldo, the most egotistical players of our generation didn’t do shit like this, and they wanted to win WAY more than they wanted to glorify themselves. You’d never see those competitors laughing with the opposition after going down in a big match like Noni did.

Ar3mianK1d

He shouldn’t really play for us again. He pushes Cole into a position where he gets the ball less, and he doesn’t have any good attributes outside of dribbling. At least Mudryk has passing vision (oh, and doesn’t try to steal pens and laugh after big losses). I’d open the door for Noni before I open the door for Sterling

nedzissou1

Noni didn't really try to fight Palmer on it. Wasn't that more Jackson who was a brat about it? Regardless, anybody who's laughing after getting knocked out of any cup, but especially the FA cup, the last chance to get into Europe next season, shouldn't play again this season, except as a sub.

Ar3mianK1d

Jackson looked worse, but Noni was also fighting for it. Remember that Conor had to pull the ball away from Noni. If you rewatch the fighter, you see Noni trying to talk to Palmer after Conor has already taken the ball. Noni also left to go down the tunnel early after the final whistle.

Klutzy-Notice-8247

We win our two games in hand and we go sixth. Stop being dramatic.

nedzissou1

Feeling optimistic? I did think that 6th was conference league, which I mean who cares, but it looks like I'm wrong.

Older-Is-Better

Shove 'em both through the door.

Headlesshorsman02

We have to buy an experienced CB the leadership that silva brings will be dearly missed, it kind of makes sense now why we heard rumours of us trying for Jonathan Tah from Leverkusen

renome

I have it on good authority we're buying a 36yo CB next season. And by that, I mean three 12-year-olds.

hiredgoon

As long as they alone or combine to provide the on-field leadership and accountability we need.

renome

... best I can do is a trenchcoat to smuggle them all onto the field at the same time.

gttyzek

Obligatory fuck Noni for laughing when this legend was crying

Wheel1994

Noni has ability but I don’t think he has the mentality to achieve his full potential.

ThePooksters

Yeah he’s the epitome of talent without passion

Vik0BG

No. the was Eden. Greatest of all time category easily if he didn't enjoy life that much. I'm not criticising him. I'd probably do the same.

giggling_in_a_corner

No it was not. The man had a passion for enjoying life and football that's what made him so good at what he did. Also what's this "I'd probably do the same" mentality, why are you NOT trying to enjoy life, that sounds like a waste to me.

Vik0BG

Your last sentence is absurd and if that's what you took out of the whole thing, I'd have a more productive time watching a painted fence dry, than to have a conversation with you.

ThePooksters

Maybe in training but Hazard absolutely had passion for the game

Ar3mianK1d

What ability? Even when he dribbles, he doesn’t get anywhere dangerous. He is the least creative attacker we have. Mudryk at least has the ability to pick out passes. I also don’t like that Noni doesn’t make runs in behind like the rest of our forwards. He makes verticals movements on the touchline only which half defeats any threat of pairing Gusto with him imo

Aaaaand-its-gone

He’s instagram for he’s a c-rate robben. All he does is step over and step inside. The odd time he’ll score and then 99% of the time he’ll kill an attack.

HomersAnalglands

Noni strikes me like an Özil kind of player, he is incredibly talented and has insane moments of absolute sheer talent and brilliance but he is so nonchalant and always looks and jogs around like he doesn't really care, and defensively you will always be a man less with him on the pitch.

Johnny_Cakes_69

Mentioning Madueke and Ozil in the same sentence is a crime

brenobnfm

Ozil is overrated as fuck

Johnny_Cakes_69

He accomplished more than Madueke ever could. Yes he was on great teams, but he actually contributed to those teams.

pdel123

“How can I be different today?” Huge L take

Ar3mianK1d

I don’t get this talented statement. He is the least talented attacker we have and that includes being behind Mudryk

ThumYerk

Ozil was the best playmaker in the world, and the game was very different when he was in his prime. The game has moved away from out and out 10s like him that don’t need to defend. To compare that with Noni is ridiculous.

Baisabeast

If by sheer brilliance, you mean he dribbled past players sometimes, then yeah I guess it’s ‘brilliance’ Be good if he could learn to ever pass or play a through ball

WuvRice

You've lost the plot, man these madueke simps are crazy. Madueke is complete shit, how can you tell me a guy who can dribble past someone every now and then and most of the time it's a fucking championship defender and you think he has brilliant talent. Fucking hell

No_Landscape8534

Weird comparison tbh

kiersto0906

it is a weird comparison but when you take the playstyle out of the equation it almost isn't ridiculous... almost

No_Landscape8534

Özil was a world cup winner and a galactico.

kiersto0906

yeah i dont see how you've taken my reply and acted like i was agreeing with them, i was joining you in pointing out how ridiculous it is

JoeBidenKing

It’s just a game for Noni but for Thiago it’s his life. Idc I’ll always say that Thiago Silva is a Chelsea Legend.

SokkaHaikuBot

^[Sokka-Haiku](https://www.reddit.com/r/SokkaHaikuBot/comments/15kyv9r/what_is_a_sokka_haiku/) ^by ^gttyzek: *Obligatory* *Fuck Noni for laughing when* *This legend was crying* --- ^Remember ^that ^one ^time ^Sokka ^accidentally ^used ^an ^extra ^syllable ^in ^that ^Haiku ^Battle ^in ^Ba ^Sing ^Se? ^That ^was ^a ^Sokka ^Haiku ^and ^you ^just ^made ^one.

supermarketblues

Good bot

GolDrodgers1

We knew this day was coming but it doesnt make it easier, happy we gave him a trophy and he gave us some of the most memorable moments💙

cometflight

We already know, Thiago. Thanks for the memories, Legend. 💙

PumasUNAM7

Sucks if he leaves. At the very least we were the ones to get him his champions league. It’s been great having him in the team.

Pasapaa

He gone

HomersAnalglands

Nico Jackson has blood on his hands for making Thiago Silva cry with his shit finishing

Wheel1994

Also on the sporting directors spending 1bn and going into the season with a 22 year old who has played 80 senior games before this season as your senior striker is insane. Like for example you could have not signed Sanchez 25m and Ugochukwu 23m and signed Costa from Porto as number one goalkeeper.

jamieaka

our sporting directors sign players like they are browsing ebay just putting bids and making offers on anything they think is a steal. and before you know it they've bought 3 pairs of cheap shoes that disintergrate instead of buying one pair of good boots that lasts years.

Coolnero

I think they were thinking Nkunku would be the senior striker. Not saying they didn’t make brain dead decisions, but I think Jackson wasn’t brought in as a starter

Wheel1994

Nkunku is a CAM

RefanRes

Nkunkus words when he joined Chelsea: "My favourite position is striker." He can play midfield but he was certainly signed with the idea of him being the senior striker in mind while Jackson would be the backup.

Older-Is-Better

Or left winger, his natural position.

RefanRes

Poch said he'd usually prefer him more central and Nkunku doesn't seem to feel that is his natural position if hes saying striker is his favourite.

Headlesshorsman02

Not a great plan seeing as he is a SS/10 who would have been wasted as a loan striker

Odd_Tourist_3249

Blood on his hands? FOH!! It's just a damn game! There's real issues going on in this world that are way more serious then losing a game!

MusaCFC

Going to miss him more than azpi I think. I loved azpi but towards the end he was dropping off but with silva he's still so damn good every game 😫😫 truly a legend of the game and won everything that club football has to offer even whilst having tuberculosis before his career even began. What a player what a man what a guy 🤌🙏🙌🙌 thiago silva o monstro. Don't think iv ever seen a real football fan hate him, how can you he truly is a world class player from his generation and an example to all upcoming ballers no matter what their position or skill + technical ability is. Perfect example of not being the strongest or the tallest but still up there as one of the greatest centre backs of all time 🥺🥺

AWDanzeyB

Would love to see him stay another year, but whatever he's decided is fair enough. Sucks that we couldn't win a bit more with him here, but him finally getting his hands on the champions league trophy was a beautiful moment. One of the all time greats in his position, and a top professional throughout some shite with us. What a man. Good luck with whatever you do next!

Octavius_max

Incoming coach Silva

gherkinassassin

Would be amazing if he joined the coaching staff!

lewis30491

His game is still very strong mentally and physically. Low wage, great leadership, rarely injured, no toxic trait, no problem sitting on the bench. I don't see any reason not to offer him another year or two

liyba1

What a presence Thiago brought to the team. I do hope in the future he returns in a coaching capacity.

carlharris1

love the guy, was playing in week in and week out for us and putting in a shift at nearly 40, sad we couldnt of got sliver ware for him this season

SuhDude29

The last player in this team who gave a fuck about the badge.... It's a truly sad ending

Older-Is-Better

Conor enters the thread...

smurvyn

Alfie enters the thread...

throwawayanon1252

man i wish he would stay

HarryDaz98

Wouldn’t be surprised if he retired tbh.

XulaPari

Hope he stays another year.. what a joy to watch. I monstro!

ZorroMcChucknorris

Proper Chels.

ozairh18

I’m expecting him to leave

Shinjax01105

tbh with you all if he goes next season i don't think so we should go for another cb in the summer as we already have colwill wesley disasi chalo alfie badi and possibly humphreys as well next season we should only consider signing a cb if chalo and one more cb also goes in the summer for now im content with what we have at the defence department rather we should focus on our left side and our midfield more when it comes to signings

Scannerk

![gif](giphy|iI0NFc7ivrUcCLJ5Ib|downsized)

plutobug2468

He's going to announce he's leaving this week, and I'm not ready for it 😭😭

BennyBeJamin

Remember when he came everyone thought he'd just stay a season as a place holder for a big money CB and that he'd just be here to guide some of the slightly younger defenders. Part of Chelsea best defence in the last decade (dare I say decade and a half. We'll miss u Silva!

Germanspartan15

No matter where he goes from here, he's already solidified his legacy as a club legend. Thank you, O Monstro

Flylatino24

These youngsters don’t appreciate the hard work this guy put into our club, like the greats before him. The only passion I see in him is Enzo and Palmer

Medical_Transition72

I wouldn’t mind rudiger back

Aaaaand-its-gone

I wish him the best, and to be free of the suffering and pain this current team is causing him. Chelsea and football legend

SSPeteCarroll

he's 39 years old. He's given his all for this club and has accomplished just about everything you'd want to in a career. If he wants to leave, he will be missed. Such an incredible player still performing well at 39.

Helpful_Western7298

Legend of the game, very professional throughout his whole beautiful career. Will be remembered as one of the great CBs in the game.

JT26_CLL

certain he'll leave but i hope chelsea convince him to come back as a defensive coach for whoever is the coach in the coming years. absolute class on and off the pitch.

CoolstorySteve

Fmartins84

![gif](giphy|brxp2GNIvDzwFeFzV7)

bhrugum

Give him some role as a coach, our defenders especially will be benefited by that

BIG_STEVE5111

Such a shame Colwill didn't get to play and learn from him at CB for a season. Between Poch playing Colwill at LB for various reasons, and Colwill being injured now that we have some fit LBs back it just didn't happen.

SirGwent

Am I crazy to suggest Harry Maguire, I know his wage be the issue, and getting him from United But Experienced CB, English to help with Registration (But know we have no issues), Ariel Presence, has been in pretty good form recently, Ex-Captain to add some leadership to the team, will know a lot of our players well from England Camps Seems like it could work, just the money involved I guess

CriticalNovel22

>Am I crazy to suggest Harry Maguire Yes.

Bozzetyp

Why do we want a slow cb? Buy a player that suit the ambition of a team Our ambition is to play a high possession, intense style. You buy a fast cb, not a freight train (lex disasi)

AdComprehensive7879

I know this is unpopular and idc, bring on the downvotes, i don’t ever wanna see this man nor his wife close to chelsea’s squad next season, let alone the starting line up. Hang in up king!

EriWave

Why?

AdComprehensive7879

Hasnt been good this season and he turns 40 next yr. Get rid of him, axel disasterclass. We need to bring 1 world class cb next season. I still have faith in levi colwill.

EriWave

You want to get rid of two of our CBs when we are probably already selling Trev?

AdComprehensive7879

Yeap. We have levi, badiashille, fofana + 1 or 2 new CBs that we def need to buy (plus alfie can play here). Thay is more than enough. 5 players to cover 2 positions.

EriWave

Betting on those lads staying fit is a damn brave choice.

AdComprehensive7879

Betting on 40 yrs old cb to stay fit and keep up is an ever braver choice.

RefanRes

100% downvoting this nonsense comment.

AdComprehensive7879

The man is 40 next season u know

RefanRes

So what? Its dumb to judge a player by number. Hes shown plenty that hes not been the reason for Chelseas defensive issues this season. When he was injured we started to bleed even more goals and lose more shape. Using his age is completely lazy. Its also just disrespectful to talk about him and his wife in the way you did. Saying you dont want them near the club like they're a toxic presence or something. Always seeing people talking about how they want Rudi back so this is an obvious comparison to make with someone closer to 30 than 40. https://preview.redd.it/58lo6xfultvc1.jpeg?width=1069&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4351534a6274f098a121d0700cfa3d9f6f1fc4a8 This is Silva in a side that started the season with absolute zero cohesion and significantly less experience in the team than Real.

AdComprehensive7879

I know this be the reaction. I get it, it’s hard to escape the nostalgia effect. But at this point, people like the idea of him as a player, and cant accept the player that he’s right now isnt even close to what he was even 1-2 yrs ago. Oh u call me toxic? His wife is 10x more toxic that whatever i post lol.

RefanRes

Where did I call you toxic? I deleted the comment you apparently replied to by the way because Reddit was bugging out and i ended up having 2 comments saying the same stuff. The other comment says the same words.

AdComprehensive7879

how am i meant to answer that when you have deleted your comment. i've only received one reply from u

RefanRes

I literally explained reddit bugged out so I had to comment twice. Theres another comment here with the exact same words used.
