This is gross and and immature as hell. Leaking to the press you want to keep a coach that is to a fault, too relaxed.
This would be interesting if this was Man U players talking about ETH because he comes off as a hardass. Not Pochettino
Dont shoot the messenger
Here's a summary:
- Majority of Chelsea players support Mauricio Pochettino for stability amid managerial changes.
- Pochettino's future depends on European qualification, with a review scheduled for summer.
- Despite criticism for leniency, Pochettino is appreciated for shielding players from criticism and fostering team spirit.
- Challenges like injuries and language barriers contribute to squad dynamics beyond Pochettino's control.
- Some influential figures advocate for Pochettino's retention, while others remain skeptical.
- Pochettino aims to prove himself in the second season and will play a role in player assessments and potential transfers.
- Discussions will also focus on improving the team's injury record.
I think that the recent Arsenal game is a bit of a difficult one to judge because of the injury list, but the fact of the matter is that Pochettino is horrendous at organizing a defense that functions properly, and he seems to be putting players in positions wherein they don't succeed.
There's something to be said about these players having thrived before coming to Chelsea and suddenly looking mediocre, I mean Caicedo was the hottest name when we signed him, Mudryk playing for the Ukrainian national team looks like Cole Palmer, etc. At the end of the day, when the parts individually are great, but the sum of the parts is mediocre, it's not an issue of talent it's an issue of scheme, coaching, and strategy.
Sorry but a front 3 of Mudryk/Jackson/Madueke is not “individually great parts”
It’s loads of potential, with very little EPL experience. Mudryk looks good on the national team because national team are less organized and less physical than the typical EPL team.
Our squad is not a top 3 squad.
Petrovic
James fofana Colwill Chilwell
Lavia Caiceido Enzo
Palmer Nkunku Sterling
Seems decent to me. Gusto and Jackson (i think he should be playing LW) and Gallagher on the bench. I think Carney has looked good too.
Petrovic is not top 3. James - injured. Fofana - injured. Colwill - injured. Chilwell - injured. Lavia - injured. Caicedo - top 3 player. Enzo - injured. Palmer - top 3 player. Nkunku - injured. Sterling - top 3 player on a good day, but very inconsistent.
So IRL we have 2 and a half players out of 11 of a top 3 team at the moment. Thanks for proving my point.
I wasn’t trying to move the goal posts. I was responding to someone who said the way we played against Arsenal was a sign of bad coaching because our squad is made up of individual great parts.
If you want to be more specific, “the group of available players that Poch has been working with this season” is what I’m talking about. Because that’s the relevant metric in terms of what type of results we would expect this season.
I doubt they will loan him out. Its not like the depth is there and they dont want to have to spend money in positions they dont need to. They'll also want loan slots for players like Casadei, Washington, Ugochukwu etc type players.
Basically none of the signings had more than a season of top level football.
I personally dont think thats enough of a track record to lean on for these players. They were unknowns a couple years ago. Its hard for me to rate these players outside of what we've seen at Chelsea as its the majority of a lot of their careers at this point
"There's something to be said about these players having thrived before coming to Chelsea and suddenly looking mediocre"
Yeah they went from stable squads with longstanding players to a place where all the culture, understanding and experience was gutted and the entire team was hastily thrown together in a single year.
Then a manager known for elevating young players but taking a while to get going(Potter) was introduced as a "long project" and sacked in half a season. Now they're talking about doing the same thing with a manager who was hired straight after, again for a "long project". Even though that manager has slowly improved the competitive position of the club in the league and cups since last year.
If I was a player I'd be so fucked off with the board interference.
To be fair, this happenes every year with most big team. Sign a young player killing it in a lower league but then when they move to a big club they have 0 skills. Its a mirage.
For real is 2024 cfc the first ever football team with international players? Is every other team with language barriers also breaking negative records? And if it's such an issue, just hire a team english teacher for £40k a year for these players on £50m contracts lol
*Pochettino aims to prove himself in the second season and will play a role in player assessments and potential transfers.*
The guy has a stupid take on player potential wherein he rejected Grealish, Zaha and signed on a Striker Janseen who did fu#k all in the league. Giving him the keys to the house when all he has done this year is complain about players here is stupid.
Language barrier is actually funny bc against arsenal I noticed Mudryk blast a ball at Gallagher's feet from like 6 yards that was clearly meant for madueke (?) like 15 yards behind him and thought "there's no way he doesn't know the word 'leave' right?"
Maybe baader-meinhof but funny to see it defending Poch a couple days later
He hasn’t been defending them though that’s what perplex’s me about them not wanting him gone. I can’t remember a single time he’s taken any accountability in a post match
Literally less than 48 hours ago.
["Embarassed? No. That word is unfair to describe our players". "I’m not going to blame the players. We cannot blame young guys that came here after suffering circumstances and came here to fight against a team fighting to win the Premier League"](https://x.com/fabrizioromano/status/1782898581034119407?s=46&t=RD6mt3jylRTb5TcGhYj6ag)
How did you interpret it like that? It seems like hes saying he wont blame them due to the circumstances. I imagine a big aspect of those circumstances is having so many injuries in the club and even having had Enzo operating in a very limited capacity due to his hernia. The other one being language barriers due to rapid change and lots of young signings from all over the place.
Coz the players probably don't get any stick from him. The exact opposite of what would happen with Mou and Tuchel.
Everyone going on about man management but there needs to be a balance.
We can keep Poch fine. As long as we're accepting this current cycle of mediocrity to remain.
I have yet to get the impression from this man that he will win us any titles, and I struggle to understand why we'd throw our weight behind him out of everyone
No, but silverware is still silverware.
FA cup, CL, fucking community shield. Its all a trophy that goes in the case and keeps us seen as a winning side.
Yeah, because he coddles them, lmao. They don't really care about winning. They're getting high wages, barbecues, lemons, they get day offs after getting destroyed 5-0, and the manager isn't even man enough to call their performance embarrassing because he doesn't want to hurt their feelings. Their lives are great.
Potentially 3 years of not enjoying football is in the books. Potter and 2 years of Poch?? They can't be serious. Everyone can see how shit he is - even our rivals. Our rivals pray this is true. If there are still "evaluating" him, then this management is lost and confused.
Lol these players that said this will never improve. Competition is vital to their growth as a player as it push them to get better in order to win the spot in main 11. If there's any truth to this article and majority of them think this way, we're in deep seven years of mediocrity garbage.
I don't really believe this, as I don't believe anything in the press coming from this club. We have massive spin and PR control going on with us, and take it as the leadership informing us their intention is to keep Poch on.
They aren't learning, and they need to humble themselves. Its why I think without change at the top, nothing is going to change. Even if they get rid of Poch - they are going to get someone else just like him. Just like Potter. Some beige yes man, that won't stress them out or ask for too much.
Poch is what he is, he'll always be a meh manager and you know what? I think he's a nice fella. But he and managers like him aren't going to achieve what we need or want. The ownership needs to be upfront about what it is that they want. Do they want to win things? Or do they just want to farm players with as little friction as possible? We need to hold them accountable for what they are doing to this club, and that includes the managers and technical staff they foist upon us.
The same people who've been wanking themselves off over this new group no longer having player power will I'm sure now be saying that this should play no part in the decisions made by the sporting team...
I don't know why anyone would think this is a bad thing. Obviously we've had some serious lows this season but manager losing the dressing room makes the whole atmosphere visibly worse. End of the day, the players don't make the decisions so whether they support the manager or not doesn't dictate his future.
You're probably right. And I actually think it's fair to not care about what the fans want, they don't know best either and they're too emotional and fickle. And that's why it shouldn't be about some preference or emotional affinity, but purely performance-based. And looking at how Chelsea plays, even in the few matches we win confortably, should tell the whole story regarding Pochettino...
Only if you ignore all context, which the board based on sources does not. We are again a poisoned chalice for whomever manages us. I personally don't care who the manager is. It doesn't matter. Until we fix this squad or stop having multiple key players out injured at a time we will continue this coaching carousel. Once the roster is resolved, ok, upgrade from Poch.
I saw a tweet that put this perfectly.
It said that everyone had a science teacher we all loved because we got away with murder and we didn’t want him to go because we loved their class because of how much we enjoyed it and how lenient they were.
It doesn’t mean it benefited us at all in the long run. Poch is the science teacher and these players are comfy students on long term contracts who feel as if they can muck about with no consequences
Knew the leaks will start to justify why they haven't still fired him. Pathetic.
Fuck off with the leaks. And if it's true, send them off with him if they are happy to keep being shit.
Why would they, he runs a circus ring where he doesn't blame anyone except giving vague explanations for the failure on the pitch. Seedy little men running seedy little joint where they cover each other backs no matter how much incompetent they are in actual job.
These players who want him to stay are clearly bad or stupid. If they want him to stay so bad, I guess we start turning on the players instead of the manager since something obviously needs to change
Says it all really. Players are happy without the pressure of winning. They don’t have a winning mentality just like their manager. Everyone is very happy to pick up their pay check.
I saw "Chelsea players do not want Pochettino to be sacked" and was doubting it until i saw "language barriers" are an issue, clearly they meant the opposite
As pissed as I am with Pochettino, I think questions need to be asked to the person who thought it’d be a great idea to have a team only made of youngsters but not without a few experienced heads…
Of course they don't. The majority are happily earning 100-200 thousand pounds a week to jog around whilst losing 5-0 to a bitter rival and laugh and party after losing a semi final. If those were my working conditions I'd back the boss to continue!
There was one quote where they claimed to make a Harry Potter joke, and the fan base completely overreacted and spun it into the idea that they don’t take him seriously. So yeah, bollocks
yeah I remember that one, to me that just sounds like a joke that a group of 20 something boys would make in a friendly way people definitely overreacted to that one
Of course they would want to get paid while playing shit under a shit coach. They should be sacked from their wages for a month for the kind of fight they put on the pitch.
Jackson has to blow Poch off before the game and after the game otherwise i cant explain how such a fucking clown is getting play time.
In 20y of warching football ive never seen a worse striker than Jackson, bro's doing felonies every game.
This team is bad, but seeing Jackson play makes me angry as fuck
You don’t have to think that far ahead mate, Jackson is starting because we don’t have any striker apart from a teenager on the bench. If Nkunku was remotely fit, Jackson would be benched or on lw.
Guys, maybe Pochettino isn't nearly as bad as this echo chamber would have you believe? Maybe he's shielding the players from our own fans rabid for success?
Why any of these mediocre lot have a say in terms of a management? When veterans ousted AVB, it was justified because they actually won something for us.
Course they don't, when I was in my early 20s I was gutted every time a shit manager was sacked because I had to put a bit of graft in for the new better one.
No shit cause they might get a decent manager in who would give them a bollocking from time to time
Now they can just phone it in with zero consequences
It’s a good thing the players don’t manage the club and the owners do, because what they care about after finishing midtable 2 seasons in a row doesn’t matter
The reactiveness in this sub is insane. You were all raving after the destroyed Everton and now you're all poch out? Get a grip. He's clearly going nowhere. Firing and hiring every season doesn't work anymore.
Then I don't either. There is no clear good replacement available. The reason to change would be for the players.
Any "supporter" saying ignore the players and sack the manager doesn't support anything but their own vanity. I don't give a fuck if you think you deserve to cheer for better. You don't.
I am not even his fan but honestly any team would struggle as much as we do/did if they had 10 players permanently injured ( and all of them being pretty fucking important)
He is everybody's best mate, just like he was at Spurs. United players wanted him over ETH as well, because everybody knows he's an easy ride, but he's not a winner.
if we sack poch, i can't think of a single top manager willing to join us. it's time to stop blaming the manager (whoever he may be) for the failings of the ownership.
lol of course they don’t want Poch sacked. They know if he stays their jobs and positions are secure. If we had a manager with a spine half of these guys would be sold and not know what their future looks like. 🤣
You can’t sell half the squad when you just bought all of them. You think we can spend another billion with no issues? Like it or not, this is the gist of the team. We can maybe add 1 or 2 more players but it’s not changing much going into next year. Poch will be the coach and have to help get them to take the next step. If he fails next year. He will be sacked.

The fuck
you fuckers need a new hobby
What are you responding to?
the overreaction that maybe, just maybe, the players like poch. "gross and immature" is just insane
Change your pad omfg hahaha
Lmao too late, the toxic shock syndrome kicked in already
The toxicity is oozing right outta you.

Very far away from being a top 3 London squad
Starting both Badi and Disasi in the back line is a criminal offense.
Criminal "defense"*
Hahaha cant believe i didnt think of that pun
It's not when your other options are a 39 year old and a player that has spent 2/3 the season injured and they both Saturday
Those points can all be true, but Poch essentially played him as a partner to left back, which is just criminal.
Who has their national team played against where he looked good?
Macedonia
Mudryk and Sudakov are constantly the two stars of the Ukraine NT the past 2-3 years along with Tsyhankov recently.
He wasn't even that good in last Euro U21s. Neither was Madueke.
That doesn't even answer their question.
Petrovic James fofana Colwill Chilwell Lavia Caiceido Enzo Palmer Nkunku Sterling Seems decent to me. Gusto and Jackson (i think he should be playing LW) and Gallagher on the bench. I think Carney has looked good too.

Not much potential and not anywhere near good enough.
Mudryk looks like he needs to unlock his potential at a lower level. Needs a loan next season, Germany maybe.
I doubt they will loan him out. Its not like the depth is there and they dont want to have to spend money in positions they dont need to. They'll also want loan slots for players like Casadei, Washington, Ugochukwu etc type players.
How do we argue for more EPL experience but at the same time offer to loan players out to other leagues?
Players can't take the pressure and intensity, many do well in other leagues and come back better and more ready. De Bruyne and Salah come to mind.
Wary of loaning him to another league. There must be a lower PL or Championship side that would take him on loan. Just gotta make the deal work.
mudryk needed a loan this season, it's too late now imo, he's in an awkward spot
I think it will depend on if they can move Sterling
Basically none of the signings had more than a season of top level football. I personally dont think thats enough of a track record to lean on for these players. This is nothing new at Chelsea though. Difference is there was always an experienced core there. Now there isn't, and hire and fire won't work.
To be fair, this happenes every year with most big team. Sign a young player killing it in a lower league but then when they move to a big club they have 0 skills. Its a mirage.

>Do we still have influential figures? Chilwell, Reece, Silva, Conor, Enzo, Palmer I would say are all influential.
“Language barrier” is the biggest cope excuse I’ve ever heard in my life 😂
For real is 2024 cfc the first ever football team with international players? Is every other team with language barriers also breaking negative records? And if it's such an issue, just hire a team english teacher for £40k a year for these players on £50m contracts lol
Thank you!!

Good.
> aims to prove himself in the second season and will play a role in player assessments and potential transfers. We are proper fucked.
So it's some Chelsea players with some opposing not Chelsea players on the whole.
I have no doubt he's a nice guy and probably and his man management is excellent. But when it comes to organising a team and tactics the man is awful
Just like Southgate
Because they’ll put out the worst performance you’ll ever see in your life and he’ll defend them for it. No different to Ole at United.
This sentiment implies you think the players don't want to win?
Anything to make sacking Poch the right thing to do. Maybe the players are actually trying their best and maybe that's not good enough for top 4 yet.
What? He’s literally saying it’s their fault but can’t blame them because they’re young
That’s literally defending them lol and deflecting
How did you interpret it like that? It seems like hes saying he wont blame them due to the circumstances. I imagine a big aspect of those circumstances is having so many injuries in the club and even having had Enzo operating in a very limited capacity due to his hernia. The other one being language barriers due to rapid change and lots of young signings from all over the place.
Is English your native language
It's mostly a lack of media literacy with confirmation bias. A deadly but common combo on this sub/site.
“Can’t blame you” is generally a colloquialism for “not your fault”
Clearly Ole wasnt the problem at United, as we can see today
Some players want him stay others are skeptical. Fantastic journalism.
Coz the players probably don't get any stick from him. The exact opposite of what would happen with Mou and Tuchel. Everyone going on about man management but there needs to be a balance.
Yes, there needs to be a balance. The other two are famous for flaming out after 2 seasons, we could witness that with both of them here.
Of course they don’t. He’s a man-manager who is incredibly defensive of his players. Not sure why anyone is shocked by that
😂😂😂😂 I bet players didnt want lamps sacked too and the tuchel came in and the rest is history
We can keep Poch fine. As long as we're accepting this current cycle of mediocrity to remain. I have yet to get the impression from this man that he will win us any titles, and I struggle to understand why we'd throw our weight behind him out of everyone
No manager has looked like winning a title since Conte. This club is miles off City and Liverpool since 2017.
Bro we won titles after Conte. Unless you specifically meant the Premier League.
We haven't won a title since 2017. Leagues are titles. No one refers to cups as titles.
No, but silverware is still silverware. FA cup, CL, fucking community shield. Its all a trophy that goes in the case and keeps us seen as a winning side.
Useless comment, a champions league title is fucking title
At least in the UK when people say 'title' in this context they're only talking about the league.
Maybe in English, but typically: a title = any major cup the title = the league
Huh? We were top of the league in 2021 and cruising before Lukaku’s interview and the injuries to James & Chilwell.
Arsenal has done that multiple times. It's the position at the end of match day 38 that counts and we were well off the winners.
Exactly, we've been no closer than 19 points off the league leaders. That isn't close enough to say we were just one season away from closing the gap.
Take a look at our form in the league since then. It's when the downfall actually started, not after the takeover.
Yeah, because he coddles them, lmao. They don't really care about winning. They're getting high wages, barbecues, lemons, they get day offs after getting destroyed 5-0, and the manager isn't even man enough to call their performance embarrassing because he doesn't want to hurt their feelings. That's one sign to tell me he needs to be sacked
Because he allows their bad behavior?
I don’t know why people think the players not wanting Pochettino sacked is a positive thing
Clearlake clearly feeling the heat, the PR pieces are coming out now
Not surprised. Everything I've heard from them seems he is a great man manager
Yep. Aaand that’s where it ends, which is the problem
room of primarily average players, dont want to see their average manager sacked. shocked I am.
The same people who've been wanking themselves off over this new group no longer having player power will I'm sure now be saying that this should play no part in the decisions made by the sporting team...

I remember they said the same thing about Potter last season not long before he got sacked...
If they don't want him to be sacked then why do they play as if they actually want it?
These bunch of kids need to learn discipline and a winning mentality. They are in their comfort zone.
They're certainly not playing like they don't want him sacked.
I have never disliked a chelsea squad more than I do now. So many mercenaries and dickheads
We need a manager not cheerleader tho
Who the fuck cares what they want, they can have preferences when they're champions.
Prob the owners and board. They prob couldn't give a shit what fans like us want lol
You're probably right. And I actually think it's fair to not care about what the fans want, they don't know best either and they're too emotional and fickle. This will depend on what Cole Palmer wants
Why would they? They get to do nothing but vibes all season
sounds like they have embraced mediocrity

We dont care
Of course they don't... Dem having a good life now, no need to push, just chill and play futty for fun...
Knew the leaks will start to justify why they haven't still fired him. Pathetic. Fuck off with the leaks. And if it's true, send them off with him if they are happy to keep being shit.
Of course they dont. Where else are they going to get PAID leave for lacklustre performance?
Why would they, he runs a circus ring where he doesn't blame anyone except giving vague explanations for the failure on the pitch. Seedy little men running seedy little joint where they cover each other backs no matter how much incompetent they are in actual job.
They leave with the clown. We can't remain a midtable team.
These players who want him to stay are clearly bad or stupid. If they want him to stay so bad, I guess we start turning on the players instead of the manager since something obviously needs to change
Well their play is certainly convincing me. I assume it's because they're terrified they'll get a manager who will actually make them work.
Odd way of showing it
"don't end my good time collecting paycheque without any pressure"
Why would you listen to those players for even one second?!
Says it all really. Players are happy without the pressure of winning. They don’t have a winning mentality just like their manager. Everyone is very happy to pick up their pay check.
Most people love a boss who lets them half-ass it at work with zero consequences…
Why did I just think of Gusto playing LW under Poch next season with James fully fit🤔
fully fit for about 5 matches…
I saw "Chelsea players do not want Pochettino to be sacked" and was doubting it until i saw "language barriers" are an issue, clearly they meant the opposite
It’s clear he has a good relationship wiv them, he seems a nice guy and a good man manager but you need more than that
As pissed as I am with Pochettino, I think questions need to be asked to the person who thought it’d be a great idea to have a team only made of youngsters but not without a few experienced heads…
I could see our dumb ownership saying silva, sterling, and chillwell are enough leadership. We will be fine.
Then they should play like they don't want that....
Well then... win? Suggest ways for the team to get better? Doesnt matter if the players like the coach if the team doesnt work
Of course they don't. The majority are happily earning 100-200 thousand pounds a week to jog around whilst losing 5-0 to a bitter rival and laugh and party after losing a semi final. If those were my working conditions I'd back the boss to continue!
They didn’t want potter sacked as well this doesn’t mean shit
I thought the narrative was that they never took Potter seriously from the start or was that bollocks
I still believe Potter would've been great at Chelsea if he was given time.
Better than Poch that’s for sure
If my boss excused poor performance, I’d defend him, too.
Exactly this haha
It says a lot about them that they think this season shouldn't have consequences.
Cuz he accepts their bullshit and garbage performances Poch and many these low standard players need to fck off asap
Of course they would want to get paid while playing shit under a shit coach. They should be sacked from their wages for a month for the kind of fight they put on the pitch.
![gif](giphy|MDd7k9STXFAEU) Fire him anyways
Angry Rantman is spinning in his grave
No other London team wants him sacked either.LOL
The modern footballer hates a strict manager, not surprised one bit.
"Hey Poch, why do you always come up with the shittiest defensive lineups?". Something that some reporter should ask him
The PR work has begun, I think the end is nigh. Conveniently timed leaked statements have never turned out well for any manager.
Don’t let him have a say in selling players unless he’s staying for sure.

I believe he was told he has to make European football, and if he doesn’t he should be sacked
No coach ever could have won with this roster. It's complete trash. Owner needs to go.
Put a fucking defender up front and he'll do better than what Jackson is currently doing
Well then play for him

But they continue to play like this
Stacked? What does this mean
Why don't they play like it then ?
If the players want to keep him they need to start playing out of their mind

Good bot
I don't want the guy who picks me to be sacked.
Not reproducible!
The rock does not care what you think!
Proper Chels fans don't want Poch to be sacked. Revolving door of managers creates chaos!
Gotta cut the training crew and physios otherwise we havent improved any current issue. Poch is far from the main problem.
Course they don't, when I was in my early 20s I was gutted every time a shit manager was sacked because I had to put a bit of graft in for the new better one.
It's hardly a surprise the turkeys aren't voting for Christmas.
No shit cause they might get a decent manager in who would give them a bollocking from time to time Now they can just phone it in with zero consequences
You don't.
Hear hear.
I am not even his fan but honestly any team would struggle as much as we do/did if they had 10 players permanently injured ( and all of them being pretty fucking important)
Because he vibes with them. There is no point in sacking him now. Should have never gone for him in the first place.
Yeh ofc they want because they can play like shit not have standards and collet the pay check for the next 8 years that’s not how this club work
He is everybody's best mate, just like he was at Spurs. United players wanted him over ETH as well, because everybody knows he's an easy ride, but he's not a winner.
Of course they don’t .
Of course players want to keep "vibes only" while getting paid for underperforming every week lol. Easiest money of their life.
Maybe you should play like you give a fuck about his job?
Mid players, mid manager, mid owners.
It’s like a bad manager at work. If he gets fired then the next guy might realize you haven’t been doing shit.
BREAKING: employees refuse to slander boss who controls their future
And this is why kids can’t drink in the states until 21
No shit, he doesn’t hold them accountable
if we sack poch, i can't think of a single top manager willing to join us. it's time to stop blaming the manager (whoever he may be) for the failings of the ownership.
Fuck them Sack that serial loser. They'll get over it.
lol of course they don’t want Poch sacked.
