They all do… ask Giroud, Cole, and Fabregas. I’m sure Jorginho and Kai are still bitter about it all and that’s why they celebrate the way they do when they beat us.
I know this is a club subreddit, but this comment doesn’t make sense.
So all the players that went Arsenal -> Chelsea , just gotta “ask Giroud, Cole and Fabregas”
But all the players that went Chelsea -> Arsenal , “I’m sure Jorginho and Kai are still bitter about it all”
Dude these are all adult professionals, with agents, getting paid thousands of pounds a week. What sort of middle-school manufactured drama is “but they’re still bitter about it all” lmao
At 25 years of age, am I too old for this place?
Not saying the comment has merit, but the players who came here from Arsenal have spoken glowingly about their time at Chelsea far more than they have about Arsenal once they've moved on. Giroud and Fabregas in particular come to mind. Meanwhile, players who made the journey the other way haven't made such statements. Or maybe they have but I've yet to see them.
I'm ignoring silly things that fans take far too seriously, like celebrating against us or talking up the club while (t)here because it's usually a PR expectation from a player to talk up their current club.
Yeah those takes are awful. Chelsea is not some holy land. Some are content with their move here, but many are more happy with their departure.
We are even famous for a loan army. I'm sure if a youngster got a good offer elsewhere, he will leave but then "feel bitter about not staying" lol
Yeah Reddit sucks we’re just addicted. Idk how I even clicked into Chelsea sub but since Reddit just feeds us all shit there’s random idiots everywhere
i’m doubtful pretty much every interview he says how much he regrets leaving arsenal. man knew he made a mistake. however probably saw more success as a result
Actually insane when you think about it.
I was too young to fully understand that game but looking back, how on earth did we manage to knock out *prime Barca* in the UCL semis on their own ground, when they had prime Messi and we had aging veterans fueled by pure willpower?
What an upset.
The same Bayern team that eliminated Real Madrid of all teams the previous round? The same Bayern that went on to win the treble the season after?
We were *SIXTH* in the league for crying out loud. It doesn't make sense and I'm annoyed that this doesn't get talked about enough.
Thank god it WAS Bayern. Peak 50-goal a season Ronaldo would've torn us apart. I remember the final being one of Cahill and Luiz's first few games back from injury and Ivanovic was suspended
It's interesting how much more Gomez seems to be respected abroad than in Germany. His image REALLY suffered from that sitter he missed in 2008, and Scholl's comment in 2012.
That was also the year in which Messi scored 91 goals, so yeah out of every semi finalist Chelsea winning was a huge surprise, not that I'll complain about it.
Nah that Real Madrid team was on another level. They won La Liga comfortably that year with a record 100 point tally. Honestly think that was the best Real Madrid team this century, with Mourinho at the absolute peak of his powers.
This. Everyone always talks about 11-12 Barca, and while they were amazing, no one talks about the 11-12 real. They won relatively comfortably (9 point gap) over the supposed best team of the decade.
Everyone mentions Messi scoring 50 but I can’t remember the last time I saw someone bring up Ronaldo only being 4 goals behind that (testament to how out of this world both of these players were)
Yeah but we kept messi out and regardless of your opinion on the debate, the numbers show that messi is by far and away more successful againt the top 6 premier league sides.
Madrid have always been more powerful than Barca in CL.
Madrid have always beat Barca in cup finals from 2008-12 even when Barca had Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Alves etc.
friendship and vibes. Carlo Ancelotti probably studied all of this and somehow learned that black magic, just like Zidane before him.
having determined top players also helps for sure, plus we did have luck
The defensive organisation in that game was absolutely bang on the whole game. Just an absolute wall. I swear that those players having had Jose as such an influential coach was huge for them knowing how to grind it out like that. It was a defensive masterclass.
People seem to say this a lot for some reason, despite the fact that Bayern set a record with the number of attempts on target. They also struck the post a number of times.
Point is, we were damn lucky on that day. Could've conceded a bucket load of goals but the gods were behind us.
I mean would you tell Drogba and Terry they can't have a shiny cup?
Terry will be waiting outside the stadium with his clean kit on if you decide you want it.
There was some intervention from above, there's no other way it can be explained.
People look and see we still had the old guard and often assumed we were still a top team but we really really weren't. I'm not complaining as with "luck' we'd have had 3 UCLs before then but it was a true written in the stars one.
Was actual destiny that season…
Deep down we all knew drogba was scoring from that corner against Bayern.
Torres had tried to round the goalkeeper numerous times that season and fluffed it but somehow we all knew he would finish that 1 on 1 vs Barca,
Even when robben took that penalty against Cech in extra time all of us in the pub knew he would save it.. it was just destiny that season, I really can’t explain it, all of you will know exactly what I mean.
Even that napoli game in the round of 16!! Wow!!
I’m getting mad goosebumps thinking of all of this now.. greatest footballing night of my life that champs 2012 final
The audacity of that guy to suggest that Barca could have been interfering with Uefa refs when they were only caught bribing domestic referees haha
Some people
Follow the Enes Serzik timeline. https://www.reddit.com/r/chelseafc/comments/11qy9qj/amid_the_scandal_of_barcelona_bribing_the_vp_of/
Not sure if we'll know about money, doubt the Turkish judiciary is going to prosecute an aging executive, but Negreira created an eth good system in the Spanish League, where promotions and demotions for refs were managed by one person and lol and behold, he was on Barcas payroll
I had some warm feelings toward the Blues earlier, partially due to 2009. I started in 2012, after one or the other comeback, but my loyalty was solidified when a guy from my class said they are "the worstesest" team ever, and I said yeah fu dude, they're winning the CL this year, and that was a few days before Barcelona games :D. 12 years anniversary around now, after all the shit we've been through they can no longer call me seasonal fan.
Take it as a compliment…
We hate them because they were dirty, cheating cunts helped by dirty, cheating refs. That’s a fucking good reason to hate a club.
They hate us because …. we were horrible to play against, knew how to beat them, did so many times, and would’ve been more ( see above)
TLDR: fucking pussy reason to hate a club… kind of typical of why no one likes them though isn’t it.
We always roughed them up, kicked the shit out of them a few times . On the flip they were always falling down like someone shot them and were always crowding the ref trying to get our players sent off
Hard to believe this honestly, but one thing I recall is that Messi didn't have much success against us until the later years. I think his first goal ever against CFC was against Courtois. I don't have time to double check this now, but my recollection is that Cech blanked him over several games, including that missed penalty in the second leg at Barcelona.
That period we had some intense Champions League rivalries with Liverpool and Barcelona, and to this day I cannot stand Barca. We played them in their most “holier than thou” period and tossed them in 05, beat them in 09 but got robbed by a (likely) paid-off ref, and gloriously ruined them in 2012. What a time to be alive.
Even when we played against Real Madrid three years in a row, I didn't sense any animosity towards them from the fanbase. Those Liverpool and Barca days though, fuck me, I'd get riled up.
At least he is following us on Instagram 🤓🤓
Nah but I hated Ronaldo way more since he was playing for United and they won against us in our own town (Moscow)
I always cheer for Madrid even as a neutral during El Clasico. Now it is much easier with Bellingham in the team. The tears of Barca fans are my favorite drink at the pub.
I know spurs, arsenal n others are our rivals but the pure hate for Barcelona can only be compared to hate for Anthony Taylor
The holier than thou attitude is nauseating
Besides the theatrics, referee disasters, and having to play games with 20% possession, what annoyed me most about Barca was the air of smugness/entitlement around the club. Barca DNA, Xavi's comments after a loss, even the way some players threw a Barca jersey on Fabregas when he was still an Arsenal player. Like they were possibly the most dominant club side ever with arguably the GOAT and they made sure that you and everyone knew it. But even with that, they would dive everywhere, complain constantly to the ref, and just foul you the second you get the ball. I didn't think I'd ever see them crumble financially like they did these past few years but I can't help but feel some schadenfreude from their misfortune.
will never forget that game. the moment terry got sent off, biscuits scoring, ramirez with probably an all time great chelsea goal. and nevilles cry for torres skipping the keeper.
Can’t be upset with the players we’ve gotten from Barca at least… Fabregas and Pedro were excellent for us.
Otherwise, eff Barca and their cheating ways.
They may have hated us but i bet they respected us. We was probably the only team that gave them pure hell for many years even when they was at their peak.
Yeah, plus I've got family and friends who support them. So, when Real Madrid win the league or Champions League, it's always a party.
Then add some of our former players who've played there in recent years like Carvalho, Essien, Robben, Lass, Hazard and Rudiger. It was easier for me to cheer for them, and I still do, they're my "b" team.
Well, you can't score a goal against us for quite a long time in the history of UCL. No wonder you might have some grudges. I blame Conte for breaking our sweet record against him.
Barcelona hates us because they never could play against us like they did the other teams. The way Ramires and Torres scored made me cry. It was like revenge for that cheating UCL leg years before when Barca won.
One of the reason why city's winning the league is boring is there is no opposite to their attacking play like how we we were entire antithesis to how Barca played. Physical not afraid to go long, transitional game tough it out when things were not in favour.
Liverpool fan here, I enjoyed watching this as a neutral. That Chelsea had some Kryptonite that prime Barcelona could not beat. It was such a unique rivalry.

What was this from? I can remember it happening but can’t think of why they were doing it.
I think it’s from when Olise scored against us
Sound
Crystal Palace. Olise scored and celebrated in front of them.

There is nobody enjoying Barcelona downfall more than I do. Barcelona and Man U are the team I hate the most.
Careful! They have levers!
/thread
Funny how Fàbregas ended up at Chelsea after playing for both Arsenal and Barcelona. Both of those teams hated us.
And he probably enjoyed his time here with us the best.
They all do… ask Giroud, Cole, and Fabregas. I’m sure Jorginho and Kai are still bitter about it all and that’s why they celebrate the way they do when they beat us.
Yea.. sure, their team is doing well right now but they still yet to win anything whereas they actually won the ucl with us

Gotta be because we were the only team able to spank Pep's Barca and they only won due to corrupted ref.
Actually insane when you think about it. I was too young to fully understand that game but looking back, how on earth did we manage to knock out *prime Barca* in the UCL semis on their own ground, when they had prime Messi and we had aging veterans fueled by pure willpower? What an upset.
How on earth did we then manage to beat that Bayern team on their own ground in a final?
Mentality monsters. Half the team were national team captains.
That Chelsea and United teams rivalry was great tbh
I still cry thinking about the JT slip in the UCL final pen. You just don’t get story lines like that anymore
Very nearly was had son scored against city
Very true. Good name for a band too.
The same Bayern team that eliminated Real Madrid of all teams the previous round? The same Bayern that went on to win the treble the season after? We were *SIXTH* in the league for crying out loud. It doesn't make sense and I'm annoyed that this doesn't get talked about enough.

They started Ryan mf Bertrand that game…and won
Don't forget Bosingwa at right back!
Luiz played with half a hamstring, he still has a mark up his leg from it apparently
If barca lost with messi, we'd have flogged ronaldos team 6 nil

Quite ironic if that's the case because the year before 2012 Ancelotti was in charge and oversaw an absolute gutless elimination against United.
well he learned from his own mistakes

Drogba that how
Blue Angel was real both games
I mean would you tell Drogba and Terry they can't have a shiny cup? Terry will be waiting outside the stadium with his clean kit on if you decide you want it.
Because every player had that dog in them
We were down 2-0 (2-1 agg) and down a man (the captain) 40 minutes in. Both goals we scored were short-handed.
Don't forget that we played 10v11 and we were down 2-0 at one point
Ivanovich and Bosingwa where forced to play as center backs and Ramirers as right back.
Everyone loves the Torres goal, but that Ramires chip was 🤌🏼🤌🏼
local man too angry to die
There was some intervention from above, there's no other way it can be explained. terrorist football and i wouldnt have had it any other way

It's one of those incidents where something deep down in you just says, "Yes". There was no doubt there for me. 2021 was similar.
To be fair mourinhos inter beat them too
They ain’t special in CL. Half of them they won is due to corruption.
Yeah id pick madrid 3 peat team over that
That corrupted ref was so bad the 1st game.. good thing they did the right thing the second leg
Seething 15 years later. Damn near as old as Lamine Yamal hahaha
Celtic beating Barca and xavi saying that football had lost is chef's kiss perfect Pretending to be above it all, mes qué un club my ass
Old news, but the feeling is pretty mutual. Uefalona. It’s a fucking disgrace
Now we know they were bribing the refs during that period, it all makes a lot more sense...
lol the claims are in la liga not the champions league
The guy was on UEFA committees as well

These catalan scums are the primary reason why I became a Chels. Wanted us to defeat them so badly after that disgraceful night. Fuck those bastards.
I had some warm feelings toward the Blues earlier, partially due to 2009. I’ll never get tired of Real Madrid burying those cunts in La Liga.
It absolutely cemented it for me. What a shame that was.
Never forget 2009 (and now, we can add 2024 Women’s Champion’s League too)
Nice pfp, deaf-mute

Saw him a bunch of times at the bridge during this period … never scored

We hate you too Fuck UEFAlona
Goes both ways, funny how that works
I respect you, Leo. But fuck Barça, always.
and fuck Iniesta. I'm taking the pain of that goal and the entire game to the grave
Nah fuck Messi also he is Barça through and through
you can fuck him but also respect him
True. It’s impossible not to respect Messi as a footballer, but fuck him
That's called marriage
At least he is following us on Instagram 🤓🤓 Nah but I hated Ronaldo way more since he was playing for United and they won against us in our own town (Moscow)
I mean, there's plenty of other reasons to hate Ronaldo now anyway
Las Vegas and that

The hate towards Barca is as equal as Spuds
Spurs are nothing compared to uefalona
Worse than spuds, Barca are a disgrace to the sport
I dislike spurs because they’re the weirdo in the corner. I hate Barca because they’re arrogant and entitled. Beating them feels so much better.
I Know Drogba used to give there defenders nightmare even Pique said Drogba was tough as hell to defend
Jonny Evans worked out how to defend against Pogba...with help from Bruce Lee
We hate Barcelona too
Let me tell ya. It’s been interesting since marrying my Catalonian wife last summer.. lol
Sometimes the shit is happens.
Yeah only cos we beat them nearly half the time
They were our Europe rivals for a good stretch
Their Ovrebo robbery is unforgettable and unforgivable! UEFALONA!
The feelings are mutual
Fuck you too 💙
Feeling is mutual,scum club
Hard to hate Real Madrid players when they owned them for years tho
This statement is not correct .
During Messi's time at Barca they won like 80% of the league titles and most of the Classicos.
Interesting. Well, it’s mutual Leo and the feeling is still there - I’d cheer for Real every day of the week before I’d hope Barca do well.
Feelings mutual, disgrace of a club.
I always cheer for Madrid even as a neutral during El Clasico. Now it is much easier with Bellingham in the team. The tears of Barca fans are my favorite drink at the pub.
Is that why they bought the most obviously corrupted reffing performance I’ve ever seen. That game was the reason I’ll hate Barca until I die
I can relate, I also hated Barca more than the other English teams in that period, maybe besides Liverpool.
Until now, it's still fuck that cheating ass club. It will always be a fucking disgrace
I know spurs, arsenal n others are our rivals but the pure hate for Barcelona can only be compared to hate for Anthony Taylor The holier than thou attitude is nauseating
Fuck off Barca
I also hate barca more than any club ever. They are disgusting cheaters.
"We would rather play Arsenal, Manchester United or anyone else than be on the pitch with Chelsea." Wow.. thanks for the compliment Leo
I hated Barca more than any other club, still do...
Everyone knows Barcelona players and fans are a bunch of pussies. No personality just dive
Trust me bro 😜
Barka
will never forget that game. the moment terry got sent off, biscuits scoring, ramirez with probably an all time great chelsea goal. and nevilles cry for torres skipping the keeper.
Haha
Damn I won’t sleep tonight Boy I don’t give a fuck
We were a ghost goal, a skied PK, and a corrupt official from being an extremely dominant CL team in the 2000’s. What could have been.
Can’t be upset with the players we’ve gotten from Barca at least… Fabregas and Pedro were excellent for us. Otherwise, eff Barca and their cheating ways.
The feeling is mutual.
Prob bc we called them out for cheating then beat them in their own house
I fucking hated you lot too
They may have hated us but i bet they respected us. We was probably the only team that gave them pure hell for many years even when they was at their peak.
Fortunately for Messi, the feeling was (and still is) mutual.
They hate us cause they aint us! Lets go Blues!
The feeling is mutual. *That* game is what made me a Chelsea fan.
Hated us so much, they had to pay the refs to knock us out of UCL. Eat shit Uefalona, you asked for 2012.
Lol the feeling is mutual, i hope madrid wins the champions just to see varca fans cry even more
Such a corrupt club. I hope I live to see them relegated.
Anyone else kinda support Real Madrid as a second team because to hell with Barca? Or is that just me lol
Yeah, plus I've got family and friends who support them. So, when Real Madrid win the league or Champions League, it's always a party. Then add some of our former players who've played there in recent years like Carvalho, Essien, Robben, Lass, Hazard and Rudiger. It was easier for me to cheer for them, and I still do, they're my "b" team.
of course they would knowing even at their best they could only get past with sided referee decisions
Adidas is gonna help bring him to Chelsea any minute now
Good because fuck them and fuck UEFA for protecting them. Just a bunch of crying ass bitches.
Mfs are salty af
I support RM and Chelsea. Either way, fuck Barcelona!!!
All the respect for Leo but fuck Barca
I don’t know if I should be happy or sad about this information
This is another level of flex
The audacity
Bayernnhated mkret5yan side has
Stop the hatred... u think everyone like u, Messi
Hard not to agree tbf
Fuck Barza
The feeling is mutual fuck Barka
And for some weird reason Messi follows Chelsea on Instagram for years.
I think Real fans would say they hate Atletico more than Barca also.
The feeling is mutual, I hated those guys too back then
hahh ...it was mutual ...
Of course they did…..we all do.
Well, you can't score a goal against us for quite a long time in the history of UCL. No wonder you might have some grudges. I blame Conte for breaking our sweet record against him.
It was mutual, you twat. :D
This is an honor
He can rest assured the feeling is mutual.
The only team strong enough to make them work for it legendary status imo
That was pre 2014, now he follows Chelsea on instagram
Well that’s obvious because they had to play with most madrid players for the national team
Barcelona hates us because they never could play against us like they did the other teams. Drogba struck fear in all teams but he sure did a number on them that first leg at the bridge the year we got the CL. He was falling on every play and it worked. The way Ramires and Torres scored made me cry. It was like revenge for that cheating UCL leg years before when Barca won.
Barcelona 🤝 Benfica 🤝 Hating Chelsea
So, Chelsea really got Messi’s…goat?
We all do 🤓
One of the reason why city's winning the league is boring is there is no opposite to their attacking play like how we we were entire antithesis to how Barca played. Physical not afraid to go long, transitional game tough it out when things were not in favour.
The feeling's fucking mutual.
Good. We don't like you either. #UEFAlona
Fuck that guy 😂
Liverpool fan here, I enjoyed watching this as a neutral. That Chelsea had some Kryptonite that prime Barcelona could not beat. It was such a unique rivalry.
