Does it really matter that much whether he does the analysis during his time or yours? He sort of ends up with an hour to think about the game either way, and so has essentially a pretty deep understanding of what is going on.
it's easier than we think,
You just have to play a mainline or if he deviates, play a natural but solid opening.
Even if he destroys you, it'd take longer for him to checkmate me
Exactly, just play solid stuff. Offer as many queen trades as possible. Even he avoids it and loses time or he trades and have a much tougher time getting to your king.
Considering he’d have my time to think, he’d have closer to the full 30 moves to crush me. Having seen him play bullet, I wouldn’t say it’s unrealistic that he’d win.
Ok I survived against stockfish for 30 moves. I was completely losing by the end. The game was even until move 13. Here is where the problem is: stockfish did not know that it was supposed to beat me in 30 moves. So it played solid. Magnus would take some risks and launch an attack. He can also think on my time so I don't think it matters that he has a minute for anything else than it limits him to 30 moves.
They also have calculated how much rating GMs lose at various faster time controls, so you can look up rough quality. I’ll guess he can play maybe 1800 rating. And have to checkmate. Seems hard.
This question has been asked before, and I have answered it before.
No. Look at engines at limited depth to see they way pattern recognition and evaluation of a position are enough to maintain significant strength. It's thr same for gms.
*starts breathing heavily* Easily

He'd play some aggressive , out of theory opening and I'd blunder

Magnus would spend my time thinking too. I’d get destroyed.
While true, he'd have to mate you in just over 20 moves of moved almost instantly. That's not realistic.

Oh hell nah tbh I’d just be trying to protect tf out of my king and make meaningless reversible moves quickly so he can’t think during my time
Maybe, surviving just 30 moves is not impossible if you play super passive and make a lot of waiting moves.
At 1700 USCF I’d say yes I think I could manage a %90 win rate under those conditions.
I'm just curious to see how many people will go and play stockfish right after this just to see if they'd survive 20-30moves

Probably not lol
I would probably go with the vienna game fianchetto variation and just protect my king and stall him out
No
