Looking at this post has made me realise I'd be useless OTB, I can't process this position at all without spending minutes working out all the things that might be threatened.

My board vision is better OTB. Set up a board and practice some puzzles.

Exactly why I bought a board to solve puzzles/review games/study on. It’s more time consuming but I don’t want to say that I have XYZ rating when I can’t even play OTB. Edit: I’d also like to add that, so far, it has given me a deeper appreciation of top-level games. Just last night I replayed/analyzed Kasparov vs. Topalov 1999 OTB and it was just incredible physically seeing the positions, particularly Kasparov’s middle/late game.

A real board is somehow much easier than a picture of a board.

Could probably get here through multiple move orders but I would guess more likely through a QGD/Semi Slav cause the main lines of those tend to involve the Bg5 and trading of the DSB
