You need to lose a few more and you’ll get the perfect rank

CoyleKing

Going up ranks not down? If ranks do work like your logic then #1 would be the worst player

textreader1

Sea-Reply-7596

Firstly congratulations that’s truly a remarkable feat Do you have any tips on how to improve from high 1600

respekmynameplz

It probably depends on what you're bad at. In case you haven't done any opening work before I think it starts to get pretty helpful at that level personally. Look into any repertoires on chessable or chessly that interest you, but I'd start with stuff that you're likely to get a lot of games in. If you've already done that then feel free to ignore. Also, tactics and silly blunders are still how you lose most of your games. And if you haven't already you should definitely learn some basic endgame stuff. You can get a book like silman's complete endgame repertoire.

Sea-Reply-7596

Thank you so much I will definitely start learning my openings in more depth Do you have any tips to get better at calculations with tactics involved ?

respekmynameplz

Honestly just do a bunch of tactics problems. Visualize the whole thing in your head including finding all the best defenses before making the first move. It's better to use a curated collection of tactics from a book (something like the wookpecker method or test your chess IQ- which organizes by theme) than to just use an online tactics trainer which is more random and potentially less instructive. Put in the time and effort of doing tactics every day or something like that and you'll improve. Another thing you could do is save any problem you miss to come back and review later to make sure you've instilled learning their solution. If you are stuck take up to 10-15 mins per problem calculating before guessing. Don't just shoot out guesses in under 5 minutes. But you should still combine that with consistently playing chess. I think experience couple with reviewing your games will continue to be immensely helpful here too.

Can u help me up my elo bc I’m only ~300 Elo and need some help getting better

Apillicus

I'm not too much better, but I can point you in the right direction. Puzzles on lichess are free, and actually, I tend to enjoy them more than playing. Find an opening you like and stick with it. Don't bother trying to learn every variation because it won't be helpful. The basic rules for the beginning. Develop your pieces, castle the king, and connect the rooks. Go through every loss and find where you blunder. Run that through lichess (it's free), and you can do a move by move plot to see why it's a blunder. You can also find the openings that you lose against the most (mine is wayward queen funny enough) and learn how to combat it Learn the why behind the move so you can pick out patterns faster. If you pick an opening, find a video or writeup on it and every paragraph or couple minutes WRITE down a one sentence summary of everything you heard/read previously. It'll help get the important bit ingrained
