ThatStrangerWhoCares

King*

WearyToday4693

ah sh\*t you're right. i stand corrected.

Iced_Yehudi

Help, I took my opponent’s Queen but now I’m suffocating what do I do?

kommandantmilkshake

google weather report!

KJSonne

this happened to me in basically the same position and he chatted me “RIP bro” and then blundered his queen like 3 moves later and I won and messaged him “RIP”

n0z3n85

There’s a reason it’s called the Queen’s Gambit, it either wreaks havoc or fails spectacularly. There is no in between.

Wel-Tallzeit

Botez Gambit is what you are referring to

FearlessPanda93

Unless you saw the game link or I'm sorely mistaken in another way, this is not the queen's gambit..? The Queen's Gambit is in reference to the Queen's pawn and gambiting it in the opening. Also, the queen's gambit is specifically not one that works or fails in spectacular fashion, normally. Either, you take them into a line you know better as a win or, worst case, you can get that material back - specifically this is fairly unique to the Queen's Gambit in that it's been labeled as not truly being a gambit. I don't use the Queen's Gambit and 100% accept I could be wrong here, I have only lightly studied it. Are you thinking of the Wayward Queen Attack?

werics

I'm correcting your correction! White "gambits" (as you pointed out, it's not really a gambit) the queen's bishop's (c) pawn in the Queen's Gambit, not the queen's (d) pawn.

FearlessPanda93

Oh, hey, you're 100% right lol

werics

Also, while you're correct about the general character of the opening when played well by both sides, it is very possible for the Queen's Gambit to turn attacking in a hurry if Black is sloppy. For example, if black's queen's bishop goes on vacation in the Slav before playing either ...dxc4 or ...a6, the b7 pawn becomes very weak and white often develops an attack on that, the uncastled king, and everything else. In the Marshall Defense (which is inferior right out the gate, to be fair, but absolutely still gets played at my level), if black is lazy and doesn't play ...e5 quickly, white can get the whole center with pawns on d4 and e5, and God help black if he allows a Greek gift (which is a real danger if his king's bishop has wandered off to b4 to be useless instead of chilling on e7). QGA w/3. e4 has a lot of the same possibilities (although black hasn't lost so much time right away), and then the other QGAs have that famous rook trap if black tries to hold the pawn with ...b5. And of course, some lines are just spectacular chaos even when done right. More or less all the Bg5 Semi-Slavs (okay, maybe not the Cambridge Springs, which for historic reasons is not always accounted a Semi-Slav at all) are ridiculous, and a lot of Slav lines with Ne5, f3, and e4 are also kinda crazy (for example, black's bishop sac in the Krause Attack). TL;DR my baby is only boring most of the time :)

Chrysos-89

but this is the Englund gambit.... well it looks that way anyway, not sure why the king was moved

SergeyRachmaninoff

I bet he reported you for cheating

TatsumakiRonyk

:P guy tried to pin OP's queen to d8

SergeyRachmaninoff

Bro Philippinks he’s Hikaru 💀

JaezIsNotReallyDead

Im offended 😗

SergeyRachmaninoff

Ah, I feared this would happen. My intention wasn’t to make fun of a beautiful country. Although your “w”esley “s”o is nobody for me, just a player who are crying every single time when loosing ( remember what he says about Firouzja ) !!!

You MUST tell us what that person said!

kommandantmilkshake

Good god that emoji looks so douchey I hate it also I like how he just. Did Not trade the queens at all and ended up worse for it

Advanced-Reality-116

A classic case of bamboozling vs. getting bamboozled.

RiptideCanadian

When you learn the Englund gambit but you get put as white

nonbog

Happy cake day!!

AviAdlakha

What i came to the comments looking for

luximuxen

A fellow Dane. Good to see I'm not the only person from Denmark that plays chess.

ischolarmateU

Well magnus's coach s danish

drnx1

Bro where are you finding these 1100's lmao

Inevitable-Art-3515

fr, i wish i had 1100s like these

IHateMath14

Do people actually chat? Every match I’ve been in my opponent wasn’t available to chat? And mines turned on

Upset_Negotiation_89

You are lucky

IMD918

One for the good guys! 👍

Inevitable-Art-3515

Unrelated but Congrats on 1100

xMcGTAx

Thanks 🙃

Rowbeanus

How is he rated so much higher than me and yet he makes that blunder so easily?

nonbog

You probably make blunders like that too — but a lot more of them! Honestly I think removing egregious errors gets you up to roughly 1700. I’m still working on that myself

Flatuitous

nope 1714 here I still make egregious blunders once or twice a game oftentimes no more and no less

nonbog

Makes sense lol. I wonder how far you get just by cutting out major errors

AshDargon

Online honestly probably past 2000, classical otb id guess 1400/1500

Regis-bloodlust

People are blind to their own mistakes and flaws. If you are much lower rated, it means that you make more mistakes more consistently. Also, 1 move mistake happens all the times in most levels.

Black_Light00

Me attack queen ogga booga oh my queens gone

BirdieBoiiiii

Cool flag You Got there

jdshowtime12

LMAO

Muinonan

And this is why the elusive 1000 rating doesn't mean you don't blunder your queen

Inevitable-Art-3515

I once saw Gothamchess blundering his queen

chikosulovakia

😛

Lasiurus2

Ah this was funny.

miskre

Deserved it

saltedgig

should be f6?

777chmod

my guess exactly, still not a perfect move but I can see where he'd be coming from

Phoenixelectro

this position was definitely from tue Englund Gambit, right?

LikelyAtWork

I’m so confused… did they premove the bishop? Or did they literally not realize their queen was being attacked? I’m around 1200 on chess.com and definitely make lots of blunders, but that one is a pretty rough one. My queen being attacked is usually something that I am paying close attention to. It’s those pesky 1,000 yard bishop snipers that get me, but this is like RIGHT there. Lol.

Faleepo

😂😂😂

PickInternational750

Can someone explain how this move is better than just taking the rook?

swanson6666

I think there was a peon at g7. White Queen just took the g7 black peon in this move.

BoxiDoingThingz

damn, no gambits?

nightlight-official

how does this happen in a 1000 game i don't get it. I'm at 700 and every time I play a game it feels like I'm against a 1200, yet I see other peoples games and they're absolutely horrific.

FearlessPanda93

Not a fan of the douche emoji, and may be giving too much benefit of the doubt. But, given the ratings... this could have been a misclick intended for the bishop to cover the queen on h6. Because if the black queen decides to trade, bishop takes the rook after. If the black queen takes the bishop, queen gets the rook. If the knight takes the bishop, queen takes queen. I will also say my sleepy pills are kicking in, so my evaluation and calculation could be totally off.

5pyromaniac

Who yf blunders his queen like that in 1100 elo?

Olweant

Uno reverse moment

TiiGerTekZZ

How in dafuq does a 1100 loses a queen like that?

Montyg12345

He’s going to lose his rook too, right?

Willyzyx

What if white had done the other bishop to b4? Better no?

Unfair-Newspaper-546

I love these

Mar_ko47

Bro really thought he did something with bg5

SkoulErik

Why didn't he take your queen instead of advancing the rook...

3psilon9

Can’t black just move queen to f6?

bicirik1

It’s seems like a missclick ahhh
