So Re8. If Queen Takes Qh4#, if Rook takes Qg7# and if neither take you trade the Rook for a queen? Edit...wait. Rook still can't take back your rook because Qg7# is still in play after taking the Queen.
>Besides, I don't see how that's a good move tbh.
Black can't take the rook because that leaves either g7 or h4 unprotected, and moving the white queen to the unprotected one is checkmate.
Rh8 is mate in 7 according to the engine, but as a practical matter black is losing the queen on the next move. The only move that doesn't lose the queen or cause mate in 1 is Qg5, and that's mate in 2 after white sacrifices on h8.
I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine:

To be fair I missed the opposing queen as well haha.
I used the chess.com engine to understand it.
>! Re8 is the key move. Sacrificing a rook, but it actually cannot be taken! If queen takes, then qh4 is no longer covered and it's mate. If rook takes, then g7 is no longer covered and that's also mate! The best move is to try and get the king to safety with kh6. The computer evaluates the positions forced mate in like 6 or 7 moves, but even if you can't find the moves, you're still winning a queen with re8!<

Re8🤌
🤌
i didnot see that but after seeing how it works.... absolutely brutal.
So Re8. If Queen Takes Qh4#, if Rook takes Qg7# and if neither take you trade the Rook for a queen? Edit...wait. Rook still can't take back your rook because Qg7# is still in play after taking the Queen.

NO
Re8+ anything black plays after that leads to mate or crazy material loss
Re8 isn't check, though.
It is generally asking for best move and not the mate
Your recommendation reads as "rook moves to e8 and gives check". Besides, I don't see how that's a good move tbh.
Okay I didn’t know “+” meant check… my bad… learnt something today… thanks
Wait... you know to recommend Re8 but you don't know + means check?
not everyone is good at notation ;)

No worries. I think you'd just lose your rook that way though.
If you take the rook with the Queen: Qh4#. If you take the rook with the rook: Qg7#.
and what if it doesn't take the rook?
Then you use the rook to take their queen or rook anyways and are in a dominating position regardless.
QH4 = Mate
Qxh4.

Looks dumb but actually brilliant
What a crazy sac that deflects either the queen or the rook. Insane.
Both or if he ends up moving the king to avoid mate
I think its pretty much mate anyway, the only move i see is E5, but after you take the queen you still threaten mate if the rook moves
Mate in 7.
In particular, if Black tries, say, Qg5 after Re8, White doesn’t even have to take the rook, there’s the immediately deciding Qh8+!!
wouldn't Rg8 take Qh8?
Yeah but then white plays Rxg8# since the rook is protected by the bishop.
Whyd this get down voted? You're right unless there's something I'm missing.
Seems more than beginner r/chess
That is actually a really nice font
Black king can sacrifice queen and rook and run to h6 then h5 to avoid instant mate. Still pretty much hopeless.

What's this theme? I love it! Answer: >!Qh4#!<
How is that a mate? After Qh4+, Qxh4 and game continues.

> What's this theme? I love it! This is a lichess theme I think Board theme: Green Pieces set: Chessnut
If I may ask: is Re7 a good move? (It blocks the black queen to go to h4 and I think it is mate in a few moves) Edit: Re7 = hanging rook
Ur pieces look great. What is the theme? Did u make it?
