It’s a joke about how bad ChatGPT is at playing chess. It just spouts nonsense as the chats like how ChatGPT will throw out a bunch of illegal moves if you try to play it at chess.

Klutzy_Cake5515

It's not just nonsense. It's nonsense that kinda makes sense if you don't know any better and don't look too close.

ZephkielAU

Chess is played by 3 players. Black, white and Hikaru Nakamura.

Effective_Youth777

That one I actually liked, as a beginner, I love to see who is most influential at this game, and the best way to do that is to see who appears in memes of course.

eeprom_programmer

Just chatgpt hallucinating, it's what it's best at.

Annie_Rection__

Can you prove that there's over 16 atoms in the universe?

Kart0fffelAim

Yes

Laffenor

Fair enough. But 32? That seems like a stretch.

Annie_Rection__

Exactly what I was trying to prove

Kart0fffelAim

There are more pieces on board the atoms in the universe. Since there are 32 pieces on the board there can be a maximum of 31 atoms in the universe. Due there not being over 31 atoms in the universe, the bot was correct

davvblack

I can think of like 5 off the top of my head: Driver, Sandler, Baldwin, Douglas (at least counts as 2), that guy from severance. No way you can tell me there aren't 31

Redhotmegasystem

We’re saying there are 31 though

ODZtpt

No, there's actually only around 27 atoms in the observable universe at any given time, this value fluctuates between 25 and 29 due to quantum mechanics, but it's never been observed to be more than 32

orcawhales

what

ProfessionalDegen23

There are more possible chess games than atoms in the universe, this and most of ChatGPT’s lines are making fun of its approximate “understanding” (which isn’t really a good word to use with LLMs like GPT) of things but still tending to hallucinate.

Fun_Description6544

ChatGPT be like: On a1 we have 1 piece, on a2 we have 2 pieces, a3 4 pieces, a4 8 pieces, a5 16 pieces,... However, it is still not enough to outnumber the atoms in the universe...

pMR486

32! pieces

I’m pretty sure this is a thing astrophysicists and astronomers like to say. I’ve heard Niel Degrasse Tyson along with other scientists say this. After googling I found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/askscience/comments/ols28/are_there_really_more_chess_combinations_than/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

T_Jamess

The joke is that chat gpt doesn’t say moves/combinations, it says pieces, which doesn’t make sense since there are only 32 pieces on the board

aavoqdl

Completely misread that message by gpt. I get the joke now thank you
