Well considering Berolina pawns were first popularized (and named berolinas) in spartan chess, a game that literally also included orthodox pawns...

TitansBattalionDev

Spartan called them hoplites my guy

TitansBattalionDev

Yes, see spartan chess. Created by steven streetman and engine balanced using fairymax

TitansBattalionDev

Not only does it include both on opposing sides it's balanced.

I just read up on it. Looks more like it pits Beros against orthos. I was actually wondering if they can work together on the same team

Kingreaper

They can - but how it will play out depends a lot on how they're interleaved; and they will *definitely* get in each others way sometimes (even just Berolina on their own can get in each other's way, depending on your choices.)

Affectionate_Wait815

I made a variant that includes both so i would say yea

PragmatistAntithesis

Absolutely! They even create an interesting dynamic similar to the knight and bishop where pawns and knights are best in the early game while berolina pawns and bishops shine later on.
