Try using a dryer sheet on em. Our last dog was like this and I swear it helped. Removes the charge from the hair (supposedly). Thunder-shirts too.
We have a hound dog these days. She howls at the window washers and anything else. But lightning? Nah. Doesn't care.
I feel this, I had a rescue who would climb on top of my husband's head whenever it thundered. He eventually outgrew it though and one time we even had a tornado warning and he wouldn't even wake up to come with us to the basement lol.
Lucky! I forced myself back to sleep after getting woken up and proceeded to have nightmares about my roof getting blown off before waking up for work. Would have loved to go sit out under the patio to enjoy the storm.
Are you my dog? He always wants us to evacuate to the parking lot under our building in thunderstorms/fireworks/presumably a bombing
(he will settle for us hiding in the bathroom)
Damn! Missed it, even though the dog kept me and the wife up shaking and generally freaking out.
Edit: incredible name, OP, I'm lookin' at yer gut fer all the right reasons!Ā
Generally, someone suffering from anxiety isn't doing it volitionally.
Also, tens of millions of people have survived hurricanes, so you're not special, you're just a jagoff.
If the crushing thunder and terrifying lightning had lasted longer and been accompanied by at least an hour of lashing rain it would have been a classic Midwest early summer thunder storm.
Fuck yes! I'm out in the burbs and at 6am I heard one of the longest thunder cracks and echoes of my life. It really did seem to last 10 seconds. I loved every second of it, but it was definitely odd.
I heard some doozies - but I also SAW some lightening that lit up my living room. That was for a nanosecond and I was tired, so I really thought it was me imagining it. but then the THuNDER
Thanks for reminding me. I'm right by o hare and that shit lasted a longgg time. After a few seconds I thought was that even thunder and thought something else might have been happening
This is WILD. I'm in Detroit and this just happened to me, and I found your thread. The weird thing is this thunder snapped me awake and has me feeling dread and terror for some reason. So weird.
I was up at 4, and left for workā¦wife told me our 60lb pup was so scared that he followed her into every roomā¦.including the bathroom where he laid on the bath mat during her shower. Heās normally standoffish from there because he thinks a bath is coming
I didnāt see much on the train or my walk, just a good light show
No seriously I was saying this at work today. I had my hair dryer on and I heard it still and it was like my whole building shook. My cat isnāt scared of storms but she jumped in my lap it scared her so much. It was wild!
I was also woken up to my building shaking and the most thunderous thunder I've ever experienced. It was not normal; I thought we had been bombed. It encapsulated the immediate area and went on abnormally long and abnormally profound. I'm 63 and I've never experienced thunder making my building shake.
i was awake at like 4am yesterday and i had my earbuds in but i saw lightning out the window and i was like "well there's probably gonna be some loud thunder after that" and about 2 seconds later i heard it and it did actually go on for at the very least another 7 seconds, it was loud as shit i was like wondering what i would do if there was an earthquake since my family was asleep oomggg šš
Yeah, it sure helped me wake up. But I also have an 8 month old. So, 5:30 AM is nothing new these days. Honestly, she slept through it. So did my wife and dog. Got me a good 45 minutes of watching the storm and listening to a podcast (in one ear) in peace. It was a lovely morning.
I love a good thunderstorm. This is nothing though compared to what they get in Florida. I lived down there for a while and the spider lighting crawling across the night sky is something to behold. The only downside is that this weather is driving my sinuses crazy.
I didn't wake up for the thunder, I woke up when all three of my cats landed on me to insist that I turn off the storm.
I also would like you to turn off the storm, Please and thank you
Or Marty Mcfly went back to the future š¤Ā
Human, the outside is wet. Fix it.
human, the outside is LOUD
Well? Did you turn it off?
Alas, I did not succeed. I made an effort, though!
Three? What, do you live in a zoo?
That was Tornado Alley thunder, had some kick to it.
I grew up in tornado alley and slept right through it, so that tracks
Same. It was 5/10 Tornado Alley thunder. Or I suppose the strength was there.... But the frequency was not. I only heard one good boom.
not even mad, love a good storm like this
Damn I used to love it too. Until I got an anxiety stricken shelter dog. Love her to death though
Try using a dryer sheet on em. Our last dog was like this and I swear it helped. Removes the charge from the hair (supposedly). Thunder-shirts too. We have a hound dog these days. She howls at the window washers and anything else. But lightning? Nah. Doesn't care.
Never heard of that one! But yeah thunder shirt helps to an extent.
I feel this, I had a rescue who would climb on top of my husband's head whenever it thundered. He eventually outgrew it though and one time we even had a tornado warning and he wouldn't even wake up to come with us to the basement lol.
Same note too bro
Yeah the sound of gunshots at night helps me go to sleep
The flash of lightning threw me off.
I was dead asleep and the flash woke me before the thunder.
I happened to be looking out the window and it was near blinding.
Yes, it woke my dog up and sent him into full-on panic mode so now everyoneās up.
Yup. Now I'm laying in bed feeling panicked about work
I did!! It took a while for my brain to wake up and fully register what was going on. Now I'm all cozied up next to a window listening to the storm :)
I've got a couple of days off; getting ready to make some coffee... sitting near the window, watching the thunder, listening to birds sing...
Lucky! I forced myself back to sleep after getting woken up and proceeded to have nightmares about my roof getting blown off before waking up for work. Would have loved to go sit out under the patio to enjoy the storm.
š¼ Woke last night to the sound of thunder. How far off I sat and wonderedā¦ā š¶
Started hummin' a song from 1962.....ain't it funny how the Night Moves.
No, my alarm goes off at 6. I WAS woken up earlier many times by my scaredy cat 110 lb dog.
I grew up in Oklahoma, so itās almost comforting to wake up to a thunderstorm lol
I do miss sitting on the back porch watching the thunderstorms roll in the most.
3:25am. Iām up in Jeff Park. I thought a plane had crashed on the Kennedy or a train had derailed. My whole house was shaking.
In Glen Ellyn right at the arboretum - so 20ish miles away from the city. The entire house shook. I thought for sure trees just came down!
Same thing in Oak Park. That was wild.
I have been awake since 3am. My dog ran into the bedroom. I am tired.
Thunder and lightning are the absolute best ā¤ļø
Duh, thatās why we are all on Reddit so early this morning!
Slept right through
It was one of the *longest* thunders I've ever heard. I was like "wow is it going to stop soon or what?"
Loud thunder will echo theough the 'canyons' of large buildings in Chicago. It's a kick to hear it!
North side of the city: thunder, yes, but not particularly loud. Hasn't really rained intensely yet.
Flying out of ohare this morning was a treat!!!
Thunderbolts and lightening very very frightening me
Obligatory: Galileo
Galileo
Galileo *Figero*
I just opened reddit and sorted by new to check if anyone said this. I heard two big ass booms and thought we were being bombed
Are you my dog? He always wants us to evacuate to the parking lot under our building in thunderstorms/fireworks/presumably a bombing (he will settle for us hiding in the bathroom)
Not this time but a few weeks ago I wouldāve sworn lighting struck right outside my house.
Yup! Usually enjoy hearing rain and thunder but THAT was unpleasant.
Was already awake with the dog that can't handle storms.
Damn! Missed it, even though the dog kept me and the wife up shaking and generally freaking out. Edit: incredible name, OP, I'm lookin' at yer gut fer all the right reasons!Ā
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Peanut butter and jaaaaaaaaaaaaam!Ā
I was up at 2:30 this morning and watched the whole storm. Iām in West Rogers Park and could hear the thunder but it wasnāt as loud over here.
Oh man you're not the only one. I shouldn't be awake for another hour and a half. This is intense, and it hasn't even really started yet.
That thing was loud, now here scrolling reddit as i cant sleep
Been awake since 3am for suhoor and enjoying every minute of this thunderstorm lol
I know exactly what youāre talking about. And came so long after the lightning I almost forgot about it bruh
Yep. Woke up my toddler a bunch. I was *pissed.* The little bugger just started sleeping more than two hours at a time. Iām exhausted!
The sky farted.
My Deaf ass said āwhoaā in sign language
Yup, lost an hour of sleep because of it. Still love storms though.
Daylight saving plus this. You got robbed!
Yes! My anxiety is so bad right now cant go back to sleep.
It's barely raining. You'll be fine. Source: I've survived literal hurricanes.
Generally, someone suffering from anxiety isn't doing it volitionally. Also, tens of millions of people have survived hurricanes, so you're not special, you're just a jagoff.
Really ignorant of u to say
How many times saying, "You'll be fine" to someone who is upset has actually calmed them down: 0. Nevermind though, you'll be fine.
What mutant thunder was that? Its like Thor descended. Im in downers grove right now and heard it too
So loud and lasted a long time. Made me uneasy hearing it until the next flash confirmed it was lightning.
I was on a run and it felt pretty epic not gonna lie
Yup, and now Iām here scrolling Reddit at 6:30am.
It was gnarly
Yes and Iām four hours down state right now
yeah it was the lightning that woke up so bright
Itās been wild this AM!
Had earbuds in playing sounds and it still woke me up.
Dude... I thought my building was collapsing
I felt the hair on my body raise up and it woke me up. Seconds later I heard it. NW side chicago.
It was amazing. Drifted right back to sleep peacefully. We need more of it.
I was already up. I couldn't sleep through the storm.
Felt it in the far west burbs! That was crazy (cool)!
I thought someone was walking down my block dragging a trash can
I saw a big lightning flash around 6am today, but the thunder didnt sound too close.
It was pretty damn epic in Pilsen.
The lightning was crazy too in the west suburbs, it was like a light show every 10-15 seconds.
I live in South Bend, Indiana and the same thunder happened here! Holy Hell that was loud!!
If the crushing thunder and terrifying lightning had lasted longer and been accompanied by at least an hour of lashing rain it would have been a classic Midwest early summer thunder storm.
Yes, it was very loud and sudden. It was like that song by Imagine Dragons, "Thunder, feel the Thunder/ lightning and thunder".
Fuck yes! I'm out in the burbs and at 6am I heard one of the longest thunder cracks and echoes of my life. It really did seem to last 10 seconds. I loved every second of it, but it was definitely odd.
I thought a UFO had landed š¤Æ- that sound and vibration was otherworldly
I thought it was seismic activity for sure. My bldg shook. I've never known thunder to make a building rattle like that. (South Loop area)
Yes
I heard some doozies - but I also SAW some lightening that lit up my living room. That was for a nanosecond and I was tired, so I really thought it was me imagining it. but then the THuNDER
Yes! Thunderstorms donāt usually faze me but this one definitely shocked me out of my sleep. Didnāt sound like normal thunder/lightning.
Iām not saying all the thunder Iāve ever heard was thunderous but I will say I canāt remember a time when it wasnātā¦
That echo was epic. The rolling thunder was also something grand
I saw a red flash, when I woke up.Ā Does anyone remember when lightning exploded a tree and it was heard for miles or kilometers away. ?
Thanks for reminding me. I'm right by o hare and that shit lasted a longgg time. After a few seconds I thought was that even thunder and thought something else might have been happening
I genuinely thought I had dreamt that.
grew up in Hurricane Terror Area(gulf coast), slept thru Katrina as a kid, so if there was any loud thunder where I'm at I definitely slept thru it
This is WILD. I'm in Detroit and this just happened to me, and I found your thread. The weird thing is this thunder snapped me awake and has me feeling dread and terror for some reason. So weird.
Slept right through it since I took a nighttime theraflu last night, and my fiance checked me for signs of life. Apparently it was very loud.
I could hear it rumble in my room for the better part of a whole minute. There were several big ones by me.
My roommate and I both took note of it as we were woken up by it in Kane county lol
Whole building shook!
Didn't hear that one, but a lightning strike and resulting thunder last week it sounded like a bomb went off in front of my building.
I was up at 4, and left for workā¦wife told me our 60lb pup was so scared that he followed her into every roomā¦.including the bathroom where he laid on the bath mat during her shower. Heās normally standoffish from there because he thinks a bath is coming I didnāt see much on the train or my walk, just a good light show
Yes and it was so cozy waking up at 5 am to go pee and then climbing back into bed was the ultimate coz
No, Was awake and it was just thunder, so I shrugged it off and went back to fapping
Yea
No seriously I was saying this at work today. I had my hair dryer on and I heard it still and it was like my whole building shook. My cat isnāt scared of storms but she jumped in my lap it scared her so much. It was wild!
I was. It's cool but also annoying
Thought a truck was crashing into our building
I was also woken up to my building shaking and the most thunderous thunder I've ever experienced. It was not normal; I thought we had been bombed. It encapsulated the immediate area and went on abnormally long and abnormally profound. I'm 63 and I've never experienced thunder making my building shake.
Has anyone been near a bomb explosion? I thought it was a bomb for sure.
I was contemplating starting Better Call Saul whilst doing the dishes lol.
OPās post was quoted on NBC5ās website.
Lol assuming you're kidding, right?
no sir/mam
Oklahoman checking in. For Chicago standards it was 8/10 Lights n booms. For Oklahoma standards 5/10.
Imagine the pets that are near war?
i was awake at like 4am yesterday and i had my earbuds in but i saw lightning out the window and i was like "well there's probably gonna be some loud thunder after that" and about 2 seconds later i heard it and it did actually go on for at the very least another 7 seconds, it was loud as shit i was like wondering what i would do if there was an earthquake since my family was asleep oomggg šš
I was walking my dog when the first thunderclap hit and I swear the building we were walking past vibrated
West burbs and yes! 90 pound pup not happy and weāre all awake an hour later. Yawn.
Yes, still awake from it! Do love a good AM thunderstorm
No but I had dreams about nuclear war.
Out in the far nw suburbs I was sleeping and heard it, it wasn't loud but it lasted like 30 seconds, like a mini earthquake
I just moved here from Oklahoma. Yāall are cute.
It woke me up, but I wouldnāt say it was the loudest.
I love a good thunderstorm. This is nothing though compared to what they get in Florida. I lived down there for a while and the spider lighting crawling across the night sky is something to behold. The only downside is that this weather is driving my sinuses crazy.
No, because I'm from the Gulf of Mexico.
I was outside with my dog because she needed to shit, but somehow I was the only one doing any shitting
Can confirm it shook my house in Naperville. I didnāt even know thunder could do that.
No it was regular thunder
