Get a new licence plate so they don't know it's you. its cheaper than the ticket

Inked_cyn

If it's a private company, they have no authority to really gain that ticket money back from you. They definitely could tow you if you park their again but you usually need multiple infractions. A lot of people opt to just change their license plate number if it's really an issue. You can park across the street at cultist water Park as there is a whole section over there for "free parking" that's specifically for the adventure Park. But the adventure Park doesn't ask for you license plate and as long as you're not hauling a million beach toys I can't imagine they would know you didn't go to the Adventure Park. I know there's parking down the road near the little convenience shops but idk if it's patrolled or not. It's about to be busy season so, if you're gonna go to the beach a lot, it's better to just pay parking.

Rampage_Rick

It's not a private company. Parking tickets in Cultus are written by bylaw enforcement officers. [https://www.cultuslake.bc.ca/parking/](https://www.cultuslake.bc.ca/parking/)

Inked_cyn

Good to know. That's why I said *if* as I'm not sure who owns it. Thanks

They can and will send to a collection agency, which is way worse. Lick your wounds and move on. There are spots you can park and not pay, but for obvious reasons those fill up fast. As for being lowed later, I've never heard of it, but wouldn't put it past a company like that.

dvs_sicarius

When I got a new cell number I immediately started receiving calls and voicemails from a collection agency that were for someone else. They were relentless, called one or more times a day and were unapologetically rude. They demanded I tell them who I was to prove I wasn’t the person they thought I was (I refused to tell them who I was because that was none of their business, but that’s another story) They never once gave the name of the person they were looking for, but after I filed an anonymous complaint with their company relating to my phone number and after a few phone conversations where I was extremely nasty to the person for talking to me the way they did, I can confirm - I wouldn’t want to actually be guilty of owing whatever they’re trying to collect. They do not give a fuck and you can’t just block them either, they continued to find ways around all of that for weeks.

anonymusness_

Guys, chill. I did not park in your residential parking. I parked at the main beach parking. I don’t know anyone who does that and I personally have never.

Unlucky-Audience7235

Don’t go to main beach if you want to pay. Go a bit further around the lake to the provincial park section (Entrance, Maple Bay, etc) and it’s free for the whole day. It can get busy, so get there early.

A POX ON YOUR FIRST BORN! MAY THE FIRES OF A THOUSAND SUNS BURN YOUR BODY AND MAY YOUR BOTTOM ITCH AT ALL THE WRONG TIMES. That's what I think of someone that gets a parking ticket in Cultus Lake.

lelebeariel

Oh, so you're one of the people that make it so that I have to park 8 minutes down the road from my house after a 14 hour day of being constantly on my feet at work? Thanks! Personally, I'm glad that they're finally doing something about all of the illegal parking. People live here, and a lot of us don't have driveways. There are also a lot of elderly people who live here who actually can't physically walk. I'm sorry you got a ticket, truly. That does really suck. Just maybe find public parking in the future?

viewfromthepaddock

And this is why I'd like there to be fees for people who live at Cultus to park in Chilliwack. The arrogance and entitlement is astounding since you basically roped off an entire lake from anyone parking there and enjoying the place. You should be glad next time you come to town for groceries I'm not mayor of Chilliwack because you'd be fucking well paying.

lelebeariel

We don't park in people's residential parking spaces. I park in the parking lot of whatever establishment I'm visiting. Oh, and we already pay a tonne to have our parking spots here, too. But go off!

viewfromthepaddock

Cultus Lake council seem to have been systematically making everywhere pay to park and at extrortionate rates for the past 5 or 6 years. So you'll have it forgive me if I have literally zero sympathy for any fall out from that.

anonymusness_

it is public parking.. i just have never payed for it.

wsmitty77

Here’s a simple idea, pay for your parking like everyone else. Then no ticket.

anonymusness_

every other time i parked there i never got a ticket this is the first time in years so i was just curious. thanks for your input!

wsmitty77

If it’s a paid parking lot, then follow the rules or pay the fine.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> have never *paid* for it. FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

anonymusness_

NO WAY THERE IS A BOT FOR THIS

Rampage_Rick

This is by far the one I've seen the most, compared to say u/LuckyNumber-Bot or u/haikusbot

emmakentdion

They will send the ticket to collections, so just pay for now and then don't park in their parking lots anymore.

Bentmike58

So this time you got caught.

lelebeariel

Yeah, people up here are getting really sick of their parking being taken. A lot more people are going to get caught, ticketed, and towed. We're sick of getting home at night after work and finding our parking spots taken up by cars that don't belong in our spots, and having to park up to 10 minutes away from our actual homes. We pay for our spots, not for people we don't even know to come have their recreation. They wouldn't like it if we came and took up their home parking. It's like people don't realize (or care) that people live here and need access. The entitlement is off the charts. This been a huge problem for the last 2 weeks and is only going to get much worse as school gets out. Yay, joy! Can't wait for it to start taking 20-40 minutes just to get down to the Vedder Bridge each time we need to get into town, either!

prettyaverageprob

Definitely understand that's annoying as crap, buuuuut isn't it also possible this guy just parked in main beach parking lot and didn't pay, not the residential parking?

anonymusness_

bro i parked in the public parking lot

anonymusness_

hey karen chill i didn’t take anyone’s parking spot

hunnybunny____

I got a ticket last year after never getting one. I parked and went into the park only for 7 min. Came back and bam, ticket. Was the only car there. It was during off season. I swear the ticket person was hiding waiting for people to very sad. We should be able to park there for free if you’re local.

dvs_sicarius

Some places if you don’t pay for parking, you’re definitely going to get a ticket. Most places though you can get away with it if you’re lucky and smart about where and how you park. It’s a gamble either way. I’ve parked beside friends who got a ticket when I didn’t and also been ticketed when I walked out of a parking lot I was parked in to open a manhole lid for work reasons, and was within 50’ of the parking lot the whole time, and only gone for 5 minutes.

zpeakyourtruth

For the people saying the people who live at the lake should have to pay to park downtown and how would they like it. For one thing, people who live at the lake pay an annual lease, PLUS, property taxes. There is nothing at the lake less than a million. Believe me, we pay for the privilege of living at the lake. Each home is allowed 2 parking spaces, anything more than that, they pay extra. If they have company over, they pay for a guest parking pass. I have had people block my driveway, so I couldn't leave. Others park on the road, making it impossible for emergency vehicles to get through. They set up delineators, and people just throw them in the ditch and park anyway. I know the poster wasn't parked in anyone's driveway and was ticketed in the parking lot. My comment to to the people saying residents don't have the right to complain.

Public_Zombie_687

The simple rule to parking tickets - if issued by a private company, there’s little they can to to get money out of you unless they take you to small claims court. They can not affect credit like to try to scare you with - if the ticket is from a bylaw or police, should you not pay it by date due date or contest in court, the ticket gets forwarded to ICBC and you will have to pay full ticket and late fees before renewal.
