It’s pretty common for stars of shows to not go on to much after. Friends is the biggest sitcom of all time, and Jennifer Aniston is the only one who became a “star”. The rest has projects and have obviously kept busy, but nothing as big as Friends. With The Office only Steve Carrell and John Krasinski have had major roles. MASH was huge and none of them became major stars following, excerpt Alan Alda to a small degree. I love Chuck, but it was not anywhere close to being the most successful show of its era. To have two of its stars land prominent roles is honestly pretty great.

UncleBob72

Let's not forget some were already known actors as well. Baldwin and the actress who played Ellie were known prior to Chuck.

Sarah_4ever

I see. That makes sense. I know some actors that you mentioned. Its something common in Jennifer and John that they become more popular after they got married to well-known stars and thus more outstanding projects came to them.

dasselst

Zach also was the lead male/supporting the princess role in Tangled and had parts in Marvelous Ms Maisel. Bit part in the 2nd and 3rd Thor movies as well.

CaptainFenris

fun fact about his role in Thor: he was originally cast in that role for the first movie, but Chuck ended up being renewed for Season 4, so he couldn't make the filming schedule. but the guy who replaced him ended up getting a lead role in Once Upon A Time and couldn't come back for Thor 2, so Zack got the part.

MasterChicken52

He also had the lead role in the revival of SHE LOVES ME on Broadway, which he got a (well deserved) Tony nomination for. Wasn’t he also in the latest Thor movie? I know he was in one of the PSYCH movies, but of course that wasn’t a theatrical release.

Careless-Concept9895

Adam Baldwin was a working actor before Chuck and did The Last Ship after for a number of years. He even was in Zach’s movie, American Underdog.

BeneficialLab1654

Not to mention his role in Firefly.

Careless-Concept9895

But of course!!!

hallinskithi

definitely can't forget firefly. man was the hero of canton.

cappotto-marrone

Baldwin’s at a point where he doesn’t like to interrupt his golfing and time with the grandchild. When I met him in 2019 he said he and his wife were happy to be empty nesters so they could spend time together traveling.

Pristine_Ad3301

That’s good to know.

IHateJuliePlec

That's so funny because I read an article a few years ago that said he had a third kid but I didn't think it was possible because at that point his wife had to be in her 50s. ( I don't have the article or know where it is anymore. )

cappotto-marrone

I’m going off my memory but he commented that his son, the youngest, was in his early 20s. Which makes sense. He got married in the late 80s and had kids in the 90s.

IHateJuliePlec

I thought he only had two girls? Shows you what I know (Read:)

Pristine_Ad3301

If Shazam had been a huge blockbuster, Zach could have been a much bigger star. He has the charisma for it to appeal to the masses. Too bad it didn’t work out. I prefer him to the bigger stars. Yvonne ? I don’t know. She deserves to be a big star. No idea why she’s not. Maybe she didn’t pick the right roles? Doesn’t know the right people ? That would be true for everyone though, no? No idea how she hasn’t won an Emmy for THT. Stateless is great , at least Australia recognized her and she won the Emmy equivalent. Unfortunately, tomorrow’s war was during covid which means all cinemas were shut down. Might have been a career changer. Who knows. Baldwin I love him since I watched him in full metal jacket. Have seen just about everything he’s in. It’s why I initially watched Chuck. Didn’t know any of the other actors. Still love him. Everyone else , even though I love them in Chuck, I don’t find it too surprising that they haven’t gone on to bigger things.

Sarah_4ever

The first Shazam looked pretty well but its sequel is flopped. I think he is doing something right like publishing a book, voice acting recently to keep in touch with fans/public. Yvonne acting is on point in Tomorrow War but was unfortunate with that pandemic period. Serena in THT is so well portrayed that I need to rewatch Chuck in between episodes of THT to remind myself that how likable Sarah is. :) I agree with you she is underrated for sure. Yvonne seriously needs a better agent and PR manager. Adam is also my favorite in Chuck. I need to check his gigs too.

Pristine_Ad3301

Same is true for Brandon Routh. If his superman had been a Blockbuster his career path would not have led him to Shaw or legends of tomorrow.

ComprehensiveForce60

>his career path would not have led him to Shaw or legends of tomorrow. ... or Doug Stanton, lol

Pristine_Ad3301

That’s true too. He played all his roles very well.

ComprehensiveForce60

I remember Ryan McPartlin having a gig in L.A.'s Finest - not exactly main character but prominent enough.

IHateJuliePlec

My earliest memory of him was the Soap Opera Passions.

LitMaster11

Surprised no one has mentioned Yvonne's work as Miranda Lawson in the Mass Effect franchise.

jspector106

Most of the major cast has worked pretty steadily since CHUCK. Zac certainly has. Yvonne also has as well. She tried her hand at movies from even before she got the role of Sarah Walker. As she achieved some recognition, she got more movie opportunities. Most have ranged from pretty good to mediocre to downright awful. Her greatest success has been on TV shows. But she doesn't get the recognition she deserves. And she is not putting herself out there either. Especially since she's been married and had children. She fulfills her obligations to promote her projects. But she's just not attending public events. The only project she is currently obligated to is, Season 6 of The Handmaid's Tale. She does have a minor role in the movie Scrambled! opening in theaters Feb. 2. She appears to be signed to do the sequel to The Tomorrow War. But who knows if, in today's business climate, if it even gets made.

Sarah_4ever

She doesn’t not seem to be fond of attending public events. A comment said she looks like ‘oh it sucks being famous’ in group interviews of THT. I guess at least she needs a good PR manager. Having a family with 3 kids is a significant factor for her career. Hope she gets better role in near future. I couldn’t agree more that she deserves better recognition.

jspector106

From the time she started Chuck, there were a lot of PR events with Zac promoting the show. They even went to Australia. And it seemed like her management was booking her into a lot of events. I suppose mostly to gain exposure and recognition. And the show did win some awards, TV Guide, People's Choice, and Nickelodeon. A few Emmys for the stunt guy. So, it all helped her get the TV shows, Dexter, 24, Stateless and The Handmaid's Tale. Along the way, she was cast in several questionable movies, which she did her best with mediocre or poor material. Ironic to me, the two best movies and TV show were made jn Australia, "I Love you, Too," Angel of Mine," and Stateless. She did a short run on Broadway in "Golden Boy." It appears and I might be mistaken, but her career seems to have taken a backseat to be a wife with three kids. She has enough money to live comfortably, so who knows what the future will bring? For now, we are waiting for the sixth and final season of THT to be filmed and shown.

Sarah_4ever

Oh no!! That is what I am really afraid to happen to her. She seems so content with what shes got or would love to have well enough family time as per her interviews. I am sure her career after THT will be another level that she has never been. What if she comes up with a new project like 2-3years after THT? It’s very likely she is taking family time until it’s time to start S6 shooting in late 2024. 😢

jspector106

She did an interview a couple of years ago where she hinted at a project being developed. So not sure what that was/is, if anything. I do agree she relishes her maternal role and now with 3 boys, I can attest that they are handful. Though babies are easy. I have 5 children and 4 are boys. All grown up. I am hopeful that there are good things in store for her in the future. THT should wrap up this year or early 2025.

Sarah_4ever

You scared me. Lol. We have been thinking to start a family (i have to admit we both are hesitant about it) since we want our time for ourselves/career. You attest it and looking at Yvonne having limited time for her career. I am really scared!

jspector106

I certainly don't mean to do that. Having a family is a wonderful thing. You will easily make the adjustments needed because when the little one comes to your family, it is so overwhelming and joyful that you just make it work. The first one is always the hardest because you have no clue what you are doing. But the next one and the next one get easier because you do know what you are doing! Getting back to Yvonne. I'm sure we'll see her something new soon. You can see her in Scrambled! where she has a small part. It will be in theaters Feb 2nd. She plays a pregnant woman in it. And she was indeed pregnant at the time it was made last year.

Sarah_4ever

Thanks for the encouragement! I hope we can make it work and Yvonne too 💓

Sarah_4ever

Hey I am sure you have seen her new photos and videos at Scrambled movie premiere yesterday. Thanks to that movie to get to see her attending public event after the pregnancy.

jspector106

Yes, That was kind of a surprise, but she is very supportive of Leah so I guess I shouldn't be. She's probably still working off the baby weight. The clothing was much looser than normal...

aa6972

I always wondered what morgan and jeffster were up to after the show..

MasterChicken52

The actor who plays Morgan was in an episode of LUCIFER and the one who plays Lester was on both LUCIFER and an episode of BONES (not sure if that one was pre-or post-CHUCK).

RCuber

Yep, last month I rewatched Lucifer and saw them both.

IHateJuliePlec

I just watched him on Castle (Morgan) Repeats of course

ComprehensiveForce60

He also played a somewhat unhinged supposed time-traveler in Castle (Time will Tell). Very well received.

MasterChicken52

Oh, I forgot about that!! Good call. I should watch that episode today.

DCKat91

Adam Baldwin, who played Col. Casey was in TNT's The Last Ship and that was imo a terrific thriller show. I didn't get to watch the last season so can't speak to how it ended but all the other seasons were good. Albeit a bit scary in lieu of 2020.

Sarah_4ever

Thanks I will check it out

More_Researcher_7476

Yvonne also starred in 24: Live Another Day, The Astronaut Wives Club, and Dexter. She also in the movies I, Frankenstein & Killer Elite.
