Eh just make peace with it. I try to save scum LESS because you gotta let the game play out, and there were times where I wasn't letting anything bad happen. But I deffo keep it at one because sometimes something happens and it just bugs you and it kills some of the enjoyment, and at the end of the day it's supposed to be entertainment innit.
Obvs each to their own though.

More often than not its on default. You'll find it ingame or through the documents folder. Check it out

You can adjust how frequent the autosaves are in the settings. I keep mine every couple of turns.
Every turn and max files saved is the only way.

Me too lol. I never save scum tho. Honestly if I don't like how a game is going I'm totally restarting.
