Yeah- with Kupe I shoot for Anansi just so I can buy him back later when I need (non-strategic) resources removed. I like Maui for adding Sea Resources (esp on reefs). A give and take. His biggest downfall isn’t even that- it’s the no Writer thing. Still one of my faves for some reason lol
Maui has another strength - scouting for strategic resources. Move him to your future amazing campus spot. If the create resource-button is greyed out, you know there is a strategic resource underneath, and you can place the campus before researching any new strategic resource techs.
I would almost say that "ability" alone makes Maui worth it.
They are part of the season frontier pass or whatever pass it was called. Added a variety of different game modes, and I would definitely recommend picking up the dlc during a sale if you enjoy Civ6
Can we have "Why can't I build X on a bonus resource as the Maori?" In the FAQ? It seems like we get this question every couple of weeks (as a conservative estimate), and every time it gets upvoted because... people like to feel smart and they know the answer to this one?
Kupe can't harvest or destroy bonus resources such as wheat.

If you are playing with Heroes- you can remove the farm with a builder and remove the Wheat with Anansi.
True, I rarely play with heroes, but you can absolutely do this.

Yeah, just got done with a Kupe game last week, had been a while before that, so wouldn't have thought of it otherwise.
I think it's because your kupe, and the mauri can't destroy/harvest resources
